I've been a regular at this restaurant for many years, and after being away on a month-long…read morevacation, I was really looking forward to coming back and having their sushi. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed this time. The sashimi combo was poorly prepared and honestly looked like it was made by someone with no experience. The sushi rice also didn't taste as good as it used to, and the fish wasn't cut properly, so it was very chewy and stringy. This used to be one of my favorite places, so it's really disappointing to see the quality go downhill.

I have been to Liberty Station many times but this was the first time I tried Sushi Stand. I got a…read morepoke bowl for lunch and chose the custom bowl where I picked two proteins so I chose salmon and tuna. I thought the bowl was okay. The overall flavors of the bowl were okay but the fish didn't taste too fresh. I liked the edamame that it came with but because they were still in their shell, you need to either remove them from the bowl or remove the shell before you can eat the bowl. The bowl comes with the edamame, cucumber salad, and rice and the two proteins. Any additional toppings are extra cost. With the bowl already at $17, I skipped on the toppings. Service was good. The person taking my order was very helpful and patient with me. This place is in a corner of the station. Seating can be limited.

Cons: - Located in liberty station, you already know the place will be packed, and parking can be difficult. Highly recommend getting there in the AM. - For $18+, I'd expect bigger cut of fish in the simple rolls. We ordered 1 salmon, and 1 tuna. It honestly felt like I was paying for packaging. - Service could've been better. As in there's no instructions on how to open the soy sauce tub and it opened as I was trying to take it off the packaging tube. They could've done a quick how-to at the pick up window or I'd actually print it on the tube itself. - It took 20 mins for this sushi pop..considering it's fresh made, I get it, but it just made the experience not that great on top of everything else. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. For those who wants to try the sushi pop, you're not missing out. 2.5 stars for me.

We ordered the Omakase Combo, Hello Kitty Roll, Adams Family Roll, Protein Roll, and 2 pieces of hamachi belly. Out of everything, the Hello Kitty Roll was definitely my favorite. The Adams Family Roll had plenty of spice, but beyond that, the taste was just okay. Unfortunately, everything else was also pretty mid. The sushi didn't taste all that fresh. A few pieces even had a slightly mushy texture, which was disappointing. I personally don't think it lived up to the hype. I wouldn't mind giving it another try someday to see if it was just an off day, but based on this visit, there are other sushi places I'd choose first.
