Every year we celebrate my Mother's and Daughter's birthdays at a Hibachi restaurant and we were delighted to learn that Ikko's finally opened in Dover, just in time to celebrate. We made reservations and dined as a party of 16. We had a wonderful overall experience. The food (Sushi included) was delicious, the drinks were perfectly mixed, and the service was exceptional. We had many interactions with a gentleman who appeared to the owner. He was nice, engaging, professional, and accommodating. Aside from a few little glitches (to be expected since they just opened and not worth listing) it was a marvelous dining experience and we can't wait to go back. We'll surely be regulars at Ikkos! I have to say I was a big fan of this place. It is clean and Jason is a great guy but, it goes beyond that. His quality has been going down and his standards are dropping . Beautiful restaurant. We went to try the sushi instead of hibachi (hibachi wait was very long). The whole atmosphere is hip and nice and from the sushi bar we could see the fun at the hibachi tables. It looked great! Unfortunately, the sushi side was not as exciting. The menu was blah and executed in a blah manner. Nothing too enticing. We won't try the sushi again but will definitely go back to try hibachi. When you focus on two separate things like that, it's hard to get them both 100% right so I'm giving them 3 stars. read more

Hibachi so close to home! I love it! The sushi is amazing and the staff is really friendly. The only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is I've noticed the service is a tad slow... Horrible experience. My friends and I went for for a 21st birthday and Kevin, our server, took the ID and immediately said it was fake which it wasn't. He took it away and ripped off the lamination so now my 21 year old friend has to travel 3 HOURS home to go get a new ID. She spoke to the manager and he was making jokes out of it. Was pleasantly surprised by the decor when we went in-expected it to look like a bland "plaza restaurant," but it definitely felt more upscale and modern. Went for lunch on a Sunday afternoon, and we enjoyed the chef very much. He was pleasant and funny, and did well with our 7 year old. Lunch menu portions are plenty large and very affordable. Only thing to watch out for: Kids meals cost more than the adult lunch specials, for the same amount of food! If going with a kid for lunch, order them the adult lunch instead. They truly never disappoint here, there sushi Sundays and daily deals are always awesome. Highly recommend to give it a try! The owner is amazing and always a friendly smile. He will go as far as pulling out your chair for you. The drinks are strong and the Hawaiian roll is one of my favorites, not to mention the pretty flowers to top off the display you will always get a "see you tomorrow" which is usually the case because I am a regular. I was mailed a menu to my home in Eliot Maine for the Dover location 2 weeks ago. On the weekly specials it said Monday's and Wednesdays kids eat free. When we arrived at 415 pm on a Wednesday I was told it was only Mondays now that kids eat free. I did not have the flyer with me as it wasn't a coupon but a weekly special (which is stupid and I usually keep it with me). Although the waitress knew the exact flyer I was talking about they wouldn't honor it. They did say if I had the flyer with me they would have. We've been to quite a few Japanese Hibachi restaurants. This was our best ever. First, in general, service was excellent. We were seated promptly, drinks were kept full, and our order was taken correctly. Second, and most important, our hibachi chef was outstanding. Mike was amazing. He was entertaining, particularly attentive to our 6yo granddaughter, his new BFF! Mike gave her two balloons, a lollipop, hi-fives, and a hug...and a gallon of lemonade/"kid sake". She will talk about this evening for a long time to come! Last, and very, very important, was that our food was superb. In between entertaining our granddaughter, Mike managed to cook and serve meat/fish that was perfectly cooked, rice, and vegetables .. all perfectly cooked and seasoned. I have visited Ikko twice now. Both times our entire order was so messed up it was borderline ridiculous. Both times I had to ask numerous times about our drink orders (waiting 20 minutes before checking on them), and then receiving the wrong drinks. Excellent Japanese restaurant, the food is delicious and fresh, and displayed in a very artistic manner, the decor is modern, lots of glass and multicolor LED lights, the waitstaff is attentive and friendly, and the sushi is the best I've had in the Seacoast Prices are a tad higher than I'd like, but they have to pay for that ambience somehow, right? ;) The experience starts right at the entrance with a multicolored bubble wall, then a large spacious floor, a wraparound bar leads to the Hibachi grill tables on the right, and the sit down tables on the left, with the sushi bar at the rear Pavini's suggestion of the Chirasi was great, first time I had that particular arrangement, and it was almost too pretty to eat I'll definitely be back, not as often as I'd like, as the prices are a tad high, but it'd be a definite place of celebration read more

The food is good. I like the spicy tuna roll. Hibachi is always fun. One thing I would say is that the waitress got frustrated with us when we went on a Sunday and wanted sushi. My dad told me that this was a pretty cool place. The servers prepare your meal in a hibachi grill right before you. I ordered my food at 5:55 pm to be picked up for 7:15. I got there about 7:15 and it wasn't ready. I waited 20 minutes and saw door dash orders go out. I saw a lady who ordered at 6:55 go out before me By about 15/20 minutes. I asked them after I had waited 20/25 minutes how much longer it was going to be, and the only response I got was "well we have a lot of orders coming in" and someone "checked" on the wait time for it and never got back to me. Finally a half hour after my pick up time it was ready, and the person who came out tossed it onto the pick up table.... when I ate it, the fish was warm, and now I'm on the can not feeling good..... Absolutely love this place. This is one of mine and my wife's favorite spots in the Somersworth/Dover area. Their hibachi meals are very good and come with soup, salad as well as a hefty portion of meat, veggies and especially fried rice. Also love their sushi.
