    Meatball plate
    Binh P.

Self order on the kiosk and just wait for your number to be called. It's convenient to look around the store while you wait. The meatball plate comes with mashed potatoes, berry sauce, peas, gravy, and meatballs. The peas were nice and firm so it was a good contrast to the softness of everything else. Pretty cheap meal if you like Ikea food.

Hubby & I dropped in before going to a matinee at the Golden Gate as we had some free time. We entered street level through Saluhall food court & took the up escalator to level 2 and headed into the store. On the 2d floor we realized there's a Saluhall food court extension so we exited the store. Saw there's a counter 3 window for the IKEA restaurant. Good design as you can order food from IKEA without actually stepping foot into the store. We placed an order at the touch screen kiosk - strawberry vanilla softee. A receipt was dispensed with our order #. For $1.75 each the softee was yummy. Served in a cup with a cone.

I'm rating this based on fast food. I ordered the veggie dog and the kids' Mac and cheese. It was $6.50. I may have messed up my order because I got two double veggie dogs and the Mac and cheese. I got the .25 toppings for the dog. It was filling, flavorless, and fine. The bathrooms have a code and everything is clean. It's quiet and it's a good place to just sit without the energy of downtown. I've gotten the frozen ice cream before and it is also flavorless. If you go to expect delicious food, you aren't going to get that. If you go, expecting to get a meal that is filling, not fried, not a ton of calories, and under $10, then you got everything out of your meal.

Nothing tooo spectacular about this ikea restaurant. Unlike the Mountain View / Palo Alto IKEA, the menu is very limited and is made to order. I got the $5 breakfast plate which is actually cheap and filling for SF! Be warned however, you'll wait up to 20minutes for some eggs, bacon, potatos & 'pancakes' when other locations will serve this in a cafeteria style service. I assume there isn't a self serve cafeteria section solely because of the location; I'd imagine there being tons of stolen Swedish meatballs.

Now I know why the actors in Ingmar Bergman's films look so depressed. They must've gone to IKEA for their meal breaks. I finally tried the cafe on the second floor on a quiet weekday, and while there were few customers in the store itself, the cafe was busy. It appeared to be doubling as an employee cafeteria. No problem with that except most of the tables were taken by individual diners. I decided to get what I presume to be their most popular plate, the $9.99 Swedish Meatballs. You get eight with a standard order, and while I know there are devotees of these spherical bites, I have to say they get a big meh from me. They referred to the gravy as cream sauce, but I didn't get that. The lingonberries and mashed potatoes were pretty predictable (photo: https://yelp.to/ZZhA0v4ryo). My one discovery of delight was that the peas were not mushy. I decided to get the $4.49 Caesar Salad as a side, and it came in its own container (photo: https://yelp.to/uKiwf9MIaY). For the price, it wasn't bad, though they used a Newman's Own packet for the dressing. I know IKEA's cafeteria-style food, especially the meatballs, has its fans, but I have to say I was underwhelmed. The next time I ever get a shelving unit, I'll probably go elsewhere to eat. FOOD - 3 stars...not clear what the appeal is with the meatballs...geez, I almost bought a dozen AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...it does look like an employee cafeteria...bonus points for their individual restrooms SERVICE - 2 stars...not much...and they gave me a dirty plastic fork TOTAL - 3 stars...I upgraded my rating for the restroom RELATED - Exploring western SoMa? We stopped by the food court while window shopping at this Ikea on Market St. and tried the plant balls with mashed potatoes and peas for a snack. This was my first time trying the plant balls with they were pretty good and well-seasoned. I actually think the plant balls are better than the traditional meatballs and it went well with all the sides. It reminded me of a Swedish thanksgiving dinner!

I always enjoyed IKEA growing up in Maryland. It was wonderful and sweet. I still use IKEA furniture at home...a few small pieces...Target and Bed Bath and Beyond to this day. The cafeteria at IKEA is inexpensive and fun. They offer Swedish meatballs...I got a kids meal $5...hot dogs ice cream cones...other menu items..wraps...I would go back to IKEA...really enjoy Swedish meatballs...old tradition..on Market St...here's to the future

Came by IKEAs Swedish deli to have lunch because who doesn't love their meatballs?! Their meatballs meal is a must try which comes with 8 Swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes, cream sauce, lingonberrys, side salad and a soft drink for $15.19. Food was tasty, good portions, friendly service. They now have plant based meatballs which was sold out! I even ended up buying a bag of frozen meatballs to go!

Poor customer service. They hate talking to customers but choose to talk among their own staff coworkers about non-work related topics.

We liked a lot of the items there, but I distinctly remember the woman at the front desk not acknowledging us at any point during our stay (not when we walked in, not once during our 15-minute visit, no small talk during checkout, and nothing when we left). Of course, if there were several customers and she was busy with other people, we wouldn't have minded. However, we were the only ones in the store. We were genuinely interested in many of the items, yet she didn't care to speak to us even once. It doesn't take much to greet or acknowledge your customers. Furthermore, the establishment is situated in one of the most tourist-heavy areas of SF. Not everyone who walks in will make a purchase; however, that should not provide a justification for ignoring those whom you may perceive as unlikely to buy anything. As a business owner, it's expected that you treat each person who enters the door with respect.

I'd get sick of it really quick if it's everyday but every now and then, those meatballs really hit! The drinks are cheap and free refills until you leave. During the day, it's fairly quiet but there can be many noisy kids once you get into the afternoon. The bathrooms are nice because they are completely separated and unisex. They seem to be kept clean and you can drop a deuce with minimal embarrassment. They even provide tampons and pads in case of emergency. Love that! Plant balls are delicious, but the ratio of jam to gravy is totally off loll they'll give you SO much jam and skimp on the gravy :[ I didn't see any tea when I went, and it was too late in the day for coffee, so there wasn't much point in getting a mug. We knew we wanted an "upgrade" to our prior purchases, mostly from Ikea, Living Spaces, and the only furnitue places we found in our budget San Jose last time around (discount). We had an excellent hand-me-down couch from Room and Board however, so after reading a lot of online reviews we decided to give them a look in-person while in the city for a game. What was helpful was I had created an online account and placed the items we were interested in to different favorites or "rooms" already. Once we arrived and wandered around a bit, finding some of the items we sat down to discuss. Unbeknownst to us there was a sales associate/designer sitting near us. She offered to help us find what we were looking for. She proceeded to spend 2 hours with us helping us find the items, choose the fabrics, and suggest pillow accessories. Jo-Antoinette was SO HELPFUL. Honestly this was the best furniture shopping experience we have ever had. The store has huge amounts of all of their fabrics in yardage and she carried them to the floor pieces and tucked them in so we could see how the ones we liked looked in the fabrics we were thinking of. She sent us home with sample pieces that are still helpful to this day as we choose accessories and window treatments. And we didn't even make a purchase that day. She offered no pressure. We were buying a new home that was unfinished and not slated to be for 4-6 more months but it was further from SF so we wanted to do our recon while still in the Bay Area. She also helped to add our decisions to the "rooms" in my online account for easy ordering later. Once settled in to our new temporarily home for the last few months we were able to make our purchase and then set delivery once we had a move-in date. The magic didn't stop there. They delivered to our home, unboxed, set up, moved around, and removed all trash. Four months later we are still enjoying our new furniture - it has not disappointed. They only cautionary tale I have is that once you place an order of an item from your saved "rooms" it disappears. So if you are like me, make note first on your fabric samples which item was going to which room. I mixed up two sets of pieces and didn't realize it until after the delivery people had left so we had to switch some heavy arm chairs upstairs/downstairs. I had made a note from memory as soon as i saw they disappeared from my saved list but apparently had mixed two up. I highly recommend going to this Room & Board in person, and connecting with Jo-Antoinette.

She took my information and then did not get back to me in a timely manner. Turns out, she works odd hours and was also not in the next day. She should have set expectations and told me when I might hear back, etc. I managed to get another customer service rep. to take over and received much better service. Don't ever get the Float desk by Humanscale- it's a total dud, a lemon! The raise mechanism simply goes kaput after a few years. Really a bad adjustable desk! Luckily, this desk is now discontinued and Room & Board will no longer be selling it. To Room & Board's credit, they are replacing my adjustable desk with a new model from (different manufacturer) for just the price difference I originally paid and the new one. This is after nearly 10 years and having the same issue with the desk seizing up twice. Room & Board had already replaced the desk leg base for me once under warranty, and then the same issue occurred again a few years later. Anyways, their policy of allowing me to exchange this faulty desk with a newer and hopefully better model and just pay the difference is good customer service and why I keep purchasing from Room & Board. They take care of the customer. I do wish they still sold Herman Miller and Eames.
