Super great deals here. We shopped for furniture and dropped by the food area to buy a drink and two hot dogs at $2 and a yogurt ice cream with raspberry sauce at $1.50. The seating area is quite comfortable with IKEA furniture. Soft drinks can be refilled. You can't find this anywhere else. Even Costco doesn't have such good deals. This place is great for family for sure. Even though you come here to shop without buying anything, you can still drop by and buy some snacks and spend your afternoon there. read more

I do stop by IKEA occasionally for small pieces of furniture and more often at their cafeteria. The hot dog prices have slowly gone up over the years. I remember they used to be 50 cents and now they are $1. The soft serve cone has gotten smaller as well. I finally tried their new 75 cent veggie dog and it was not bad. I go to Ikea once in awhile and love the food here. Inexpensive price and wide selection. Totally enjoyed cheesecake($2.99) and coffee($1) they were so delicious. I wanted to get coffee in a paper cup and too bad they no longer have those cups. Good for environment at least. I saw a family ordering Haddock and Chips which looked really good. Nowadays they sell Lingonberry Sundae, chicken meatballs, veggie meatballs,candies and heart waffles. FYI you have to weigh candies and print the price sticker your own. Ah I remember my first time at Ikea. The place seemed huge and a place of never ending exploration. And years after, I still feel the same way. One can easily spend a good half day here. The Ikea kitchen is a must after a day of shopping here. It's reasonable quality food for an awesome price. I always get a slice of the Daim cake. Sunday, November 6, 2022 my elderly Mom lost her bag with her wallet in it at the Ikea store in Coquitlam, BC Canada, sometime around 5:30 p.m. We discovered it missing shortly after we arrived home. Through a process of deduction, we knew she had lost it somewhere in that Ikea. Just after I got home I frantically searched the web to try and find a direct phone number to that store so I could have them search for it. Nothing. Only phone number was their customer service line 1-866-866-4532. I talked to their customer service rep asking for a phone number, but was told he did not have any phone numbers to any of their stores. I then asked for an email contact. He said they don't give out emails because they're only for staff. He said the best he could do is email the store. Then he put me on hold for a short time. He said the email came back stating that our missing item was not turned in. I said that just because it's not turned in that doesn't mean it's not somewhere in the store. I then asked to speak to a manager or supervisor. He said no one was available. However, he could take down my name, address, and phone number to have someone call me back. I did that and was given a file number. Because Mom's wallet, inside a small shoulder bag, was lost, throughout the call I tried to impress on him the urgency of the matter that, the longer we waited, the less likely her bag would be found. I told him my 86 year old Mom was crying and very stressed over this, and that an email was NOT good enough. However, he refused to do anything more. Two days later, I got a call back from a fellow named Erick. I told him what happened, that I was still really angry and upset over the lack of care given this matter, and found out that the email their customer service rep sent off to the specfic store went to Security there. Yet, even though it was a wallet, a matter of strong urgency, it was not flagged in any way. I said to Erick why wasn't this done soon after they received the email? Why didn't their customer service rep on the phone ask me what the bag looked like, where we were in the store, what Mom was wearing and looked like, where we were parked, etc. I was the one on the phone who described the bag, I wasn't asked any other questions. So, TWO DAYS after she lost her bag Erick started looking for it. No one else had up to that point. While on the phone he asked me those questions. That included the make, color, and model of my vehicle. I also told him the specific area I parked in, again which their phone customer service representative never asked anything. As I was answering Erick's questions, he started searching the camera footage for the time I had given him. He found us on that footage and was describing our movements in the store around that time. He then asked for some time to further check the footage and would call me back. He did call me back roughly 30 minutes later and said he found the bag. I then asked him why did it take almost TWO FULL DAYS JUST TO START SEARCHING FOR THE BAG? Nothing had been done before that (except for the email). And, WHY DID IT TAKE ALMOST TWO DAYS FOR ME TO GET A CALL BACK?? Why wasn't I promptly called the next morning (Monday November 7, 2022) for them to start doing something about this?? It was about 3 hours short of 48 hours before I got a callback from him. All the while this was happening, over a span of two days, my elderly 86 year old FRAIL Mom was frantically calling her credit card companies, calling to get special transportation arranged for her to get to her banks to get her bank cards cancelled and replacement ones, calling to arrange to get a new medical card replacement appointment so she could see her specialists, etc. WHY did all this have to happen? If their customer service rep on the phone had been trained properly, as had the store's Security and other staff, all of this wouldn't have happened. They should have gotten on this right away, RIGHT AWAY, when I placed the call shortly after we got home from their store. But, no, THEY DON'T DO THAT. To say that their customer service is terrible is an understatement. Mom's bag with all her important cards in it could have been stolen, someone used her credit cards, or even took her identity--all because of the lack of action by Ikea Staff immediately after I called. She is darn lucky to get her bag back. But the stress we incurred during that two day wait was a lot. Mom is a very frail 86 year old woman with multiple health issues. All we were offered was a lousy $25 in-store gift card as compensation for gas (we live about 25 minutes away from their store) and stress. Honestly, I really didn't care about the money, what I really wanted was immediate action, and policy changes, training changes, that would prevent this from happening again. But, no. We don't count. If we did, they would have acted right away, NOT 2 days later! read more

A trip to IKEA is the equivalent of standing at the edge of the abyss. You know if you are going to be dedicating yourself to the journey, you do not yet know the depths to which you will sink. This journey for me was to find a child's easel, but instead became a full analysis and disassembly of the surety I had regarding the state of my family's home. We first grabbed a cart for the upper floor. Never a good start if you want to avoid being tied to it or, gasp, buying something. Once you buy one thing the bandaid is always off in a place like this, as you will try to recoup the cost of gas to get here by finding something that will make the trip worthwhile. After looking at a variety of good but never perfect options for some areas of the home, we avoid getting sucked into an easy and cheap solution for our woes, but with the knowledge that we can always come back to get something that isn't quite the right colour, but sure as hell is good enough for the price. I held firm and made sure we stuck to our intended purpose, no matter how understandable my wife was being in her suggestions. A stop in the cafeteria yielded some reasonable fish and chips, but the oncoming closure of the area meant service was down and they had shut off the soda machines that were apparently actually working. The food was good, but the lack of takeaway options was also disappointing. However we acknowledged that IKEA is not here to feed the family at home, so on we went. After all that, we left with our easel, but I knew we were now dedicating ourselves a to a future purchase. Ikea has become my second home since I recently became a first time homeowner! I believe it's a great place to start off your hunt towards making your home a home. I especially love their showrooms to give you all the inspiration you need to make your home sweet home. This review will mostly focus on the Kitchen Department. I wanted to redo the entire kitchen, gut it out and start fresh. My boyfriend and I used the Ikea Kitchen App to design our new kitchen. There were a few glitches in the program but it was more or less easy to figure out. The benefit to this program is it had everything Ikea had to offer regarding kitchen cabinets and all their options from pullout drawers to lazy susan cabinets to drawers inside drawers and more. Plenty of colour and design choices for your cabinets, handles, sizes - made our head spin. But we really had to give it to Philip and Vic from the Kitchen Department. Both of them were super knowledgable, patient and answered a ton of questions regarding our kitchen design and countertops (we must have been back and forth at Ikea 3-4 times). After we had our final kitchen design, luckily both Philip and Vic were there again to help us thoroughly look at our kitchen to make sure we had all the parts ordered and everything made sense and would be functional for our kitchen. The process took time but they got all the details and things we missed. Overall, our kitchen experience was really wonderful. Now hopefully we can put it all together without a hitch - fingers crossed Ikea instructions will be straightforward. Probably the most organized IKEA I've been to in my entire life. Well...the second IKEA I've been to in my life, hahaha. I hate furniture shopping to be honest, even hate it more that I have to grab my own furniture to put it on the cart and figure out how reel it out to to fit it in the car, but for the price, you can't complain and at least with this IKEA, it's the easiest experience you can possibly have at an IKEA. Not too crowded, easy layouts, and who can complain about their famous $5 Swedish meatball plate. Yum. I think there's a child care center too, leave the kids there so they can play with other kids while you shop. The Richmond location really needs to pull it together. Also please stop training your representatives to tell the customer to go to the Coquitlam location. - 2 hour minimum wait for return. They only have two people working at the returns and exchanges, even when they have 50+ people waiting outside in the cold to return. IKEA should staff up their returns and exchanges counters. + Great price + Lots of choices - Confusing store layout. They definitely make you work. The display of floor samples is separate from the stock. You have to write down the model numbers and the aisle and bin numbers of the items you want to buy, go through the maze of the furniture sample display to get to the storage area, and then find the items you want to buy using the stock number, aisle number and bin number. Confused yet? - A lot of the times, the items on display in the showroom are out of stock. But you won't find out until you get to the shelf area following the aisle and bin numbers to find an empty shelf, which is frustrating. There is a running joke that IKEA is Swedish for Out of Stock. - Sometimes the furniture you purchase will have missing parts, after you spend two hours to try to assemble the furniture, which again is frustrating. Then you have to get the furniture back to IKEA and wait in line for 2+ hours for returns and exchanges. read more

I love Ikea, primarily because they are pretty consistent regardless where you go. I therefore don't really get all the poor reviews for this store: it's an Ikea! You're not going to find Nordstrom kid gloves here, or Nordstrom merchandise. As far as Ikea stores go, this one is totally on a par with all others. There may be a few subtle advantages and a few subtle disadvantages to this store, but for the most part, it's an average Ikea. And I love Ikea, so I think it's great! Sure, some of the employees may not be that friendly but I found a few guys on the floor by the bedroom dressers that went out of their way to help us out and they were super nice. The store set up was a little confusing to us initially and the signage, not clear. (We'll be more adept to finding our way around at next visit which will be this coming week as a few items we wanted weren't in stock when we visited). LOVE the cafeteria! This was our first Ikea cafe that had beer and wine, and there were a lot more food options that what we're used to in our old hometown Ikea. LOVE to food market downstairs by the cash! Never saw such an extensive food section at Ikea before. This one even had a frozen section and a bulk candy section. As usual, the prices of foods and furniture just can't be beat. And we love how one can get a lot of good decorating ideas simply by walking the floor and noting how each room "vignette" is designed and decorated, down to what accessories are used and how, the window treatments, furniture lay-outs, etc. It's particularly helpful if one lives in a small place, as there are lots of ideas on maximizing storage and smaller-scale furnishings. Ikea has especially come a LONG way in their kitchen design and furnishings, and they are terrific for kids' rooms and college dorms. The store is extremely family-friendly and there's a kiddie play area, locker area and tons of bathrooms throughout the vast store. Anyways, my first issue is that a few days ago I placed an order, but it was automatically canceled. I assume the item wasn't actually in stock yet. Still, I received an email saying the order had been canceled (my request even though I had no idea). When the item became available again I ordered it assuming the old one had been canceled as I was told. So, in the end I was shipped two copies of the same item and it's unclear whether I will get a refund or not because it's impossible to talk to anybody on the phone and their online chat is a joke. Avoid this company of idiots like the plague. As for me, this is the last time I buy anything from them. The problem was totally their fault but I can't fix it because nobody will answer the phone there. It's a fucking disgrace and I for one will never support business who prefer to use AIs instead of hiring humans. The restaurant in IKEA never has delicious food. Everything is mediocre at best. My least favourite dish of theirs is the "butter chicken" on rice. Tasted bland like it was made with ketchup. No spices what so ever. My favourite dish is the salmon fillet with grilled veggies, and I like to get their 99 cent veggie medallion made of broccoli, cheese, etc. Don't forget to get a family card for their discounts in certain food items! read more

This is one of my favorite lunch stops in this area. And this write-up only refers to the restaurant here. The Ikea restaurant is cafeteria-style get a tray and order a plate of delicious food. I tried most of the menu items and enjoy the tender moist salmon and vegetable plate the best. The butter chicken and rice is excellent but requires ordering vegetables from the side orders. Tried the Swedish meatball plate once and it was good but I prefer other selections there especially the salmon. This Richmond Ikea restaurant menu looks nearly identical to the one in Renton Washington. I think that's by Design and if you like predictable tasty food this is a good place to stop for lunch I would suggest arriving shortly before noon as the lunch crowd tends to create a busy atmosphere. Families with small children tend to stop here to eat but the dining area is large enough 2 find seating further away from the loud or cranky ones. I also like that the portions are just the right size I don't have leftovers that I can't eat to take a long and the dishes are priced reasonably. I was looking for bookshelves, looked online, then drove to the store to make the purchase. Upon examining the boxes, I decided that they will not fit in my little car, and I opted for delivery to my home. While at the delivery area, I also decided to buy the assembly service as well. The delivery and assembly were excellent. Two men arrived, placed all boxes on an IKEA warehouse cart and wheeled the cart into my home. They assembled the items quickly and efficiently, picked up any stray pieces of plastic or cardboard from the packaging materials, and upon completing their work took away all the boxes and packing. Fantastic work! Five stars to Serge and friend who delivered and assembled my items - thank you again. Five stars to XPO Logistics, the delivery + assembly company. What worked less well was the IKEA customer care area where I ordered the delivery and assembly services. Three stars to IKEA. The IKEA Customer Service area where I would order delivery+assembly was crowded - not with people but with stray big carts containing random boxes. Keep it tidy, please! In addition, the people working the counter were not clear with me regarding the timelines for delivery and assembly. I requested for next day delivery, and was given a date/time for the delivery with assembly being ordered for the next day. I waited and waited at home yesterday, then called the 1-800 number to inquire about the missed timebox, only to be redirected to the website (why can't I enter the order number in an IVR system to get an update?). Upon entering my order number online, I noticed that my delivery day was now moved to 9am-5pm today instead of yesterday morning (why didn't anyone inform me?). I called IKEA and was told by the customer service person that, when assembly is ordered together with delivery, the company will do both at once. Why wasn't I told this when ordering these services two days ago? This morning I received a call from the delivery company telling me that the items would be delivered to me and to expect them at a stated time. As mentioned above, the delivery and assembly were without reproach. I also received a call after delivery, from the third-party provider, asking to evaluate the service. In all, a good experience from the provider's part, with room for improvement from IKEA's part. read more

For us Ikea is worth the border crossing for certain products. Great selection of kitchen cabinets. If you have designed your cabinets on the US Ikea website, be warned you won't be able to get to your design. Either print you plans ahead of time, or use the Ikea.ca website. Certainly worth the trip. Also, I feel so safe at Ikea due to all their warning signs. For instance, in the mens room there is a warning sign that indicates that you should not fill up a glass of water for drinking from the urinals. I wonder if they had problems with that, the sign sure prevents me from filling my glass. read more

So came here to look for plants for Chinese New Year. Didn't find it. So ended up getting Duvet covers, pillow cases and some bowls. Well, as of now, I am not thinking of buying furniture. But looking at it, there are some really useful furniture that I might consider. I saw a really cute love-seat sofa and it was perfect for my tiny apartment. A five star, keeping in mind that it is IKEA, a furniture store. To be honest, I eat here more than I shop here. I think the food's price point is very lucrative for a quick lunch/snack/dinner. If you like meatballs, keeping in mind that that won't be top of the line, truffle,, grade AAA beef meatballs. For the prices, it is great. You can add ten additional meatballs for pretty much less than $5. Also, in addition, you cn do roasted chicken + soup+ bread for $7.99 and don't even get me started on the cheap deserts. My favorite meal is 20 meatballs, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes + gravy. Expect food coma after though. For the health nuts, like myself, that want to have a quick cheap lunch, Ikea has the Salmon. It's great if you get it without the sauce and you can add steamed veggies for a low carb meal. Did you know that Ikea purposely makes their stores into a maze so that customers feel a little disoriented which compels them to pick up extra purchases compared to a more straight forward design? Well for most of us it works. I love and hate this place, I mean it has tons of stuff and that's great but when your girlfriend is a self proclaimed personal-personal designer and tons of that stuff ends up on your damn cart that you have to push through the damn maze it gets pretty DAMN STUFFY!!! * exhales...I digress. Some of their products are really well priced, some others seem way too expensive for the quality but all in all it's fun..(kinda) What do I go for? well other than shelving units for my kicks...I go there for what every other asian in the lower mainland goes for, THE CHEAP FOOD. The horse meat balls (alleged) the fish and chips, the bottomless lingonberry juice are where it's at. I used to die for the mac and cheese but it looks like they retired that mess unfortunately. Where else can you feed a family of 5 for $20? freaking nuts I tell you. I enjoy the end products I currently have from Ikea but here's my advice. Have fun with your allen keys and taking 8 hours to put together your shiny new desk. I hadn't been to the other IKEA so I can't compare, but this one is ... so ... well, new! Clean and shiny. I wish it were easier for those riding the bus to get to the entrance more easily. I don't know if there's another way, but after getting off the 430, I followed everyone else walking through the parking lot. I can't imagine this is all that safe for kids, as it takes about 5-8 minutes. Anyway, the cafe is HUGE. Of course, I couldn't pass up the meatballs. I wish more people would clean up after themselves. It's not that difficult. Just walk your tray over to the big tray stand. Nice to have the two lines for cash and debit/credit. read more

My first time going to the new Ikea and wow, it was like Disneyland for furniture !!! It's right next to the old Ikea but BIGGER. Everything was bright, shiny, big, and mesmerizing. They have bigger elevators, bigger parking for cars, bigger children's play area.... The cafe is huge and super trendy looking with lots and lots of seating. I like how they decorated different areas of the cafe in a theme with Ikea furniture chairs, tables, and lights. They also have comfy couches to lounge in with family's and friends. The menu is super super cheap. Yup, the meatballs are as addictive as ever and of course I had to have them and the $1 soft serve cone and wander around the place dreaming and being inspired to decorate my place with new furniture. This place was busy with people on a Tuesday night. Need I say more. read more

This review is for the "click & collect" system at IKEA. It is HORRIBLE. I arrived on time to wait 1 hour and 45 minutes for my purchases. There were maybe 30-40 people ahead of me and quickly many, many more after me. Why book so many people for a one hour window? An employee walked through the line making sure everyone had received their second email that their purchases were ready for pick up, so that wasn't the issue. I overheard her tell one customer that the line easily gets to 2 hours later in the day. Ridiculous!! Lower the number of customers per hour allotment. We are supposed to be socially distancing not standing in a 2 hour line up. (Kudos to all the customers for staying 2m apart). read more
