People either love or hate IKEA. I fall into the former category. So it goes without saying that I loved this particular IKEA, as it's pretty much the same as all the others (with some minor differences). In fact, I think that's one of the best things about this store: the predictability and consistency. I came here on Black Friday with my kid. I braced myself for horrific crowds but, surprisingly, it wasn't as congested and crowded as I had anticipated. But it was busy. Busy but manageable. This store has some items and some features not seen in other IKEA stores I've been to. Midway through the store, they have some free-standing "gallery" rooms, all decorated, as if they were islands. Interesting and cool. And there were some items for sale that I've not seen elsewhere (i.e., a rain hat/bucket hat made from the iconic blue plastic IKEA bags, and smaller purses also made from said bags, and more). That said, I should note that this store was low in stock or completely out of some items that are available at other IKEA stores (i.e, their patterned napkins). Perhaps it's due to supply issues here, I don't know. They have a lot of fabulous Christmas decor items, all super reasonably priced, and smaller home accessories like candles and real plants and planters, photo frames and wall art and more. So IMO IKEA is way more than just a furniture store. And their café and Swedish meatballs are famous for good reason! SO good. Don't miss the food market and cafe at the exit where you can get cookies or hotdogs or soft-serve ice cream for practically nothing. Seriously, can't beat the prices here. read more

You know what to expect here: an expansive, two-story furniture labyrinth. Swedish meatballs. Wishing you had a forklift to transport your pallet-load of disassembled furnishings to the checkout counter. Like all IKEA locations, the layout is vast, modern, and snazzy, demonstrating the myriad combinations of room configurations possible using their staggering catalog of reasonably cheap appliances, hardware, decorations and furniture. You'll likely need a snack to sustain you on your odyssey through the bowels of this titanic trading house, so stop for a meal in the surprisingly decent cafeteria, or grab a hot dog at the mini-mart on the way out the door. Not much can I say that hasn't been said already, but I will add one annoyance I've encountered on my recent visits: many items are currently not available, even though they are on display in the showroom. I'm sure this is due to COVID-19 impacting the supply chain somehow, in a manner I can't fathom. I specifically went in for a couple of items the other day, and although I found both during my walkthrough, neither was stocked in the warehouse below. The labels on each item clearly stated "temporarily unavailable", which saved me a search, but left me shaking my head at the strangest experience at an IKEA, ever: walking out empty-handed. read more

This is what every store should be. Consistent messaging and values, great quality at a great price. Visiting Ikea makes me want to be a better person. Love how conscious they are about every item they sell and offer. Also love their food court, sometimes I come here to work, and it's great - can have a full breakfast with coffee and an apple pie for $3.99, great wifi and a nice peaceful atmosphere. Conveniently located at Cascade Station (NE Portland), it's an easy solution for me whenever I have furniture needs. IKEA is a place where I go to when I want bang for the buck furniture. Coming here is like going to Costco, but much nicer and an experience rarely seen elsewhere. Due to the layout of the store, you're ushered into walking through their showroom. Clever marketing idea, I'm surprised not more stores have incorporated this style. You see everything on display in their best light; making you go, "Oh that looks nice. Maybe I could do that," making you want to unconsciously buy more than planned. Now the actual selecting and buying is odd at first, but you get used to it. Once you've chosen what you want to buy, you'll actually have to go downstairs to the self pick up area. You have to record what aisle and bin the selected items are (located on a tag of the product). You can either fill out a little paper slip sheet that's conveniently located nearby or simply take a photo of it on your phone (or write it down). Once you're downstairs in the self pick up area, you'll grab a cart that's also conveniently located on your right as you enter their warehouse (this is where it looks like Costco). You simply follow the signs and find your aisle and bin, and pick off your item(s). The actual check out registers are right outside the warehouse as you exit. Luckily there are so many available because this place gets busy just like Costco! That's not all though, there are food options here too. Upstairs near the entrance is a full lunch area - filled with your Swedish choices (such as Swedish meatballs, which taste great), that they too sell in-store. Near the check out area downstairs, there's again a (smaller) food area that you can sit down and enjoy some food. Honestly, it's awesome. They really designed this place with thought. The place is clean, organized, and hosts a large parking lot (I hate small parking lots). This place truly captures the Swedish ways and designs, just like their furniture. Affordable modern furniture for decent quality, can't really go wrong here. Picture instructions included with each piece is a huge help. The only con that I have about this place are the middle/high school kids who come here to just hang out and eat, but not actually buy furniture - but that's not IKEA's fault. I'll always recommend IKEA to my friends and family that are in the market for new furniture. read more

Some of my favorites, being from Hawaii are the zip lock plastic bags of various sizes, and of course I always find something new. But also I enjoy eating at least one lunch here. Baked chicken is new on the menu, but didn't try it. I had the salmon and a pie slice. This trip I tried the ice cream cone for $1, just hit the spot delicious. Haha. The folks who work security here have real sticks up their behinds. This parking lot is absolutely enormous and they will come verbally accost you if you are parked there and don't shop at the store. Mind you - not doing anything nefarious - literally just meeting there as a public meetup place for our friend to drop off dog food that he provides. I'd understand if the parking lot was packed and this was detracting from potential customers using the space but the parking lot is never filled up and this just seems like an absolute waist of time, plus, drives away potential customers. A BIG store with LOTS of good stuff for PLENTY cheaper and cuter than other stores. Placemats, cutting boards, cutlery, crockery, glasses, flower vases, bed linen, their prices can't be beat. Their furniture is a bit of a hit and miss..... they can be good and sturdy and last for a long time or you can get a lemon and it will fall apart after the first couple months. Of course, you have to have a engineering degree to be able to get all that furniture assembled.... IKEA is my home away from home. It's my "safety" spot that almost always makes me feel better if I need some alone time with my earbuds in to stroll and dream about soft closing cabinets. I've visited this location 5+ times now and it's so wildly hit or miss. Tremendously helpful associates paired with anxious and angry associated. Awesome stock next to broken items I don't have the energy to call attention to or bring to someone working there because again...hit or miss on that front. I needed help with a rug last time and no one was to be found. I wandered the area and adjacent areas for 5-10 minutes before I finally called the store and asked someone to come which took another 5ish. Anyway...ikea, I love you. I hope the holidays find your folks happier and more relaxed bc some are awesome and others obviously need a break! read more

IKEA is hit and miss. The quality is mediocre at best, so don't expect anything high quality and don't expect things to last a lifetime and you'll be set. It's okay for what it is. Inexpensive, decent looking stuff. So consider this above all else. I suggest the following items because I use them often. 1. Photo & poster frames of various sizes including some that are HUGE. Way cheaper than most anywhere! 2. Kitchen towels. Some are under $1. There are some that are slightly better and cost just slightly more too. 3. Curtain rods! Such a good deal. 4. Stackable, clear, plastic containers with lids of various sizes. 5. Dish brushes that stand up because of a suction cup on bottom!!! My favorite item. I always buy at least 5. (I don't like using sponges for cleaning dishes.) There are so many "do not suggest" items that I can't even begin to make an adequate list... I haven't been back in months because the crowds are crazy big... good luck if you go. read more

I purchased a King comforter yesterday evening (7/17/22) and returned it the very next day because I washed it before using and the seams fell apart. They refused to accept my return even though I have not used it, just washed it before using. iKEA says one you wash it , it can't be returned. In this day of COVID and pandemic, do they actually think consumers would purchase a comforter and use it without washing it first? Absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. Do better than this to stop the COVID spread, IKEA! You owe this to your customers and community. This is a review for 3 weeks ago . We stopped by because we needed some furniture . Busy, busy, busy. Crowded, but spacious. Helpful staff. We bought a baby crib, 2 Ikea chairs, and a baby IKEA chair. Plus one IKEA ottoman. Those took us about 4 hours to put together, we thought it was fun to put together. This is a good place to buy lingonberry syrup and preserves. We like the food and deli section by the cash registers because you don't have to go through the entire store to pick up some specialty food item. The cafe is nice, with vegetarian options. The coffee is truly wonderful. Wonderful marzipan cake. My other half says this is snack food, not a true meal. Once you learn how to pick up items in the warehouse area, it's simple. This review is mostly affected my painfully slow return experience. Huge line outside. Took more than 30 minutes to get inside. Thought the sanitation process was what was taking so long. Not so. There's a guy just squirting a few drops of cleaning liquid onto the returns (see photo). The problem is the inability to shuttle more people to open more stations as the need arises and the extremely slooowwww (slug speed) wipe down process at the very few open stations (not even sure if they do this in between all patrons or if 1 worker did it because she was leaving her shift). IKEA needs to work on the efficiency of this in the setting of COVID. I understand the need for social distancing but there must be creative solutions they can think of...I would hope... read more

One location in Oregon Portland As usual the place can get pretty crowded or confusing. Although, I love how the displays are always so interesting to look at , very inspiring. There were only a few workers around that you can catch in certain floors , so it was quite hard to ask some questions. I also noticed a lot of mess on the floor that can get pretty dangerous. I was worried about slipping so I constantly checked if there were anything that's going to fall or already on the floor. Food: Many choices from upstairs being a restaurant to downstairs being a fast food shopping spot. The price is unbeatable too which kind of reminds me of Costco. However, we ordered their Mocha coffee, but it tasted more like hot chocolate drenched in half and half. I'll keep this short and sweet. Having worked in retail I fully understand the staff wanting to go home at a decent hour. But if your sign says you're open till 8 PM, the door should be open until 8 PM. I walked up to the front door just as one of the employees was locking the door at 7:58 PM. Yes that's "close to 8 PM". When I explained that I wanted to run through and look for an office desk which I know they have, not knowing the specific number of the item, he told me that they're doing the walk-through right now to get customers out of the store. I literally could've been in and out in about 20 minutes after spending $200, but they chose to turn me away. I know there will be customers still browsing the aisles for another half hour or so before heading to check out. Simply disappointing. I like IKEA, I truly do. So, it actually pains me to write this review. The breakfast is not fancy, we all know this. We don't go there for a gourmet experience however, it's usually palatable. Not today. The only thing in common with what was being passed off as eggs, was that it was in the yellow spectrum. A kind of pale yellow with tinges of I-don't-know-what, maybe gray? Which is hard to see until you sit by the windows and get a good look, or in my case, after the first, very surprising mouthful. Whew, onto the disc something or other called a veggie patty. I'm grateful for the non-meat option, I just wish it wouldn't have been competing for closest thing to a hockey puck on my plate. The Sahara has a more moist, flavorful consistency than that patty. The potato's, thank the maker, were decent. (At this point it's all relative, really.) The attempt at a croissant was feeble at best. The top half was very light, not flaky and not an ounce of flavor to be found, while the bottom half was in a stiff competition with the veggie patty for stiffest item on my tray. The cinnamon bun (noticed that was not called a "roll") was incredibly dry. It was sad really. We were here one hour after opening and by the looks of things, it had been sitting out all morning long. The saving grace was that coffee was hot, which helped us choke down the disappointment. The half and half was out and the employee seemed very nonplussed about it, as it was out last week too. (Now I am wondering about the 20 drops of week old? Two week old? Half and half in my cup.) Two small breakfasts, two coffees, some kind of wanna be croissant and a very sad cinnamon bun was thankfully less than $12. However, my disappointment is priceless. read more

I usually like eating at IKEA from time to time however today was just horrible. The person serving my food was constantly chewing over the food with something in his mouth, chewing with his mouth open and getting his gross saliva over the food! (I think his name was Robbie or something along the lines of that.) And as someone that takes food safety seriously, that was a real big no. On top of that when the food was being served the guy didn't even know what to serve, constantly asking if I wanted this or that, when it came with the meal. Although some may find this reassuring I personally found it annoying that I couldn't just get my standard meal without constant questioning. Lastly, after me and my mom had eating some of the food, we got extremely sick. Damn near blew off the toilets! It was the worst experience I've ever had at ikea and frankly I'm disappointed as I've always eaten there for many years without problem. Be careful, not everything at Ikea is cheaper or good/better quality than other comparable stores! However, I personally find it fun to just walk through the whole store and all of the room setups to gather fun ideas (and then possibly shop for items somewhere else or online!). Be sure to check out the as-is section right before the cash registers too. It's also somewhere that you generally aren't in and out of in a hurray. Sometimes you get trapped in the maze of walkways and if you are just trying to grab a few things or need to find your way back out of that maze to a restroom, well, good luck! Definitely hit up the food--either the small court after the checkout lines or the restaurant. Surprising quality for the price! At the restaurant upstairs they even clearly call out options that are or can be made GF, DF, etc. which I'm sure is really helpful to some. The other thing I really like about this Ikea, or most Ikeas I've been too, is that it seems that the employees are genuinely happy to be working here! read more

I know this sounds crazy! Appears to me that we have a ritual when we shop in Ikea, and it doesn't matter in which state or location. My family and I will first use the restroom, wash our hands with soap and water, walk briskly to dining area, enjoy eating meatballs covered in gravy, mashed potatoes with gravy, and cranberry sauce, and drink complimentary, small cup of water. Finally, we grab a shopping cart, bring our own reusable Ikea bags and start moving like a slow snake, ensuring that we don't miss anything, and cover everything from top to bottom. Whenever we shop at Ikea, we enjoy finding practical, functional household items such as lightweight wash cloths, hand towels, collapsible or foldable hampers or storage containers, or kitchen items such as a ladle, better yet, thick oven mitts ideal for protecting hands from oven heat. This time we found lightweight wash cloths with handle, hand towels with handle, foldable storage containers. I also found eco-friendly and reusable bags for my colleagues which they still use and rave about to this day. Only thing I missed was finding something practical for my child to use such as an alarm clock, collapsible hamper. Perhaps, timing wasn't right. A few things I'm able to count on are free parking, bring and use Ikea bags, inexpensive prices, and wonderful customer service. Added bonuses include this location is near PDX and no state sales tax. read more

IKEA never disappoints! I haven't been in over a year because they don't have one in Hawai'i. But I try to go when visiting the mainland. I get my regular bags and restock of the tarp blue bags. Walked around and found some things I needed for home. But.. WOW! The foodcourt options were amazing. Like a regular CAFE. I wish he hadn't eaten before we went because everything looked great. OK, since most my Yelp friends wrote a review about IKEA, I guess I will put in my dollar's worth, since two cents doesn't go very far these days, ha ha. I will be honest, I used to love IKEA. In the early days you could buy good quality stuff for a reasonable price. I still have many of these items in my possession and they have traveled with me through the last 20 years. For some reason, the quality has deteriorated the last 10 or so years. We should recycle, reuse and reduce, and I am happy to see IKEA get on board with that policy. Of course they can, and more importantly should, do more to have their product last longer than the 2 to 5 years it feels like it lasts now -- except for the plastic stuff. This is one of my favorite places not only because of the furniture but because of all the services around it. The children care area is nice, my children love it because it has movies and I love it because it's free but I wish they could stayed a bit longer... One hour is not enough to see all the furniture sections. The restaurant is very nice, we love the fact that you get much more healthier food than in a fast food restaurant for the same price! A family of four or five could eat healthy and tasty with less than $40 USD. If you feel that shopping is a chore and after spending a couple of hours debating about how to decorate your home, you can treat yourself to a very unhealthy but tasty selection of pastries at the register, or just buy hotdogs, ice cream, espresso coffee, etc. Just whatever makes you feel better after that effort that you put into walking through so many different setups for your house. read more

If you are a fan of spending an afternoon just browsing around and filling your house with things you never need ,Ikea is the place for you. I cant even begin to point how many "things I never needed " get into my cart , just because this place is so tempting . I am a big fan of how they decorate small sections for decor inspiration , because lets be honest we all have something from IKEA at our homes and seeing new ways to use them is always fascinating .The quality is a hit or miss because I have stuff that fell apart in the first year and some that have sustained the test of time . Also , Can someone please put up the price signs correctly, its extremely inconvenient and misleading at times. I find their plant section pretty amazing and very reasonably priced . They also have cute pots to go with them . I haven't ever tried but have heard the returns are a nightmare , so tread cautiously. This place was terrible! I was going to take my mattresses in the car and the woman said if it's easier we ca deliver for 50 dollars. Ok great. Except after waiting 12 hours for the delivery they never came, never called to tell us they were delayed. Then after several attempts at customer service I'm told they haven't even pulled the order yet and it's going to be two more days.... so we have to sleep on the floor or go to a hotel! And they couldn't even guarantee a time frame. What fn BS! Do not waste your money at IKEA they do not follow through with their service and sales promises.
