I'm a sucker for household goods stores, so of course I loved this upscale kitchen/home store! My kid purchased her fancy shmancy coffee/espresso machine here, so she knew I'd enjoy checking this place out. And she was RIGHT. Think HomeGoods or HomeSense stores, but much MUCH higher end. That about encapsulates this place. The store itself is one large, open concept floor. It has all sorts of kitchen gadgets and linens, gourmet foods/condiments, patio furniture and gardening accessories, home furnishings and household accessories. Nothing is cheap here, literally or figuratively. Everything is super well-made, but very pricey. My kid saw a pizza platter here for $20 that she purchased the day before at HomeGoods for $4.99. The exact same item. That said, this place carries a lot of brands and items that you cannot find elsewhere, and the staff are extremely knowledgeable about their product lines. I liked their selection of retro wall clocks in a rainbow of colors, each for about $50 (I thought that was reasonable). Also, note that their sale prices on items are excellent deals. And they also carry smaller scale, cute gift things, on carousels by the front counter. I got my friend a cute pair of socks here. read more

We bought some dining chairs 5 yrs ago from Kitchen Kaboodle, with vinyl covered seat cushions. A couple years back we noticed the paint was coming off the vinyl! It looks terrible. First time at their new space! They moved from their original location on NW 23rd and took over the previous Cost Plus World Market location, still on NW 23rd and Burnside. It took me awhile to get my bearings as the layout was so different from their other locations and there is so much free space! Since they are now on one floor, an entire area is dedicated to furniture - beds, sectionals, tables, chairs, recliners - and you can see everything much easier, so important when you need to compare. Many items have options to customize fabrics and wood. They carry American Leather recliners which are my all time favorite. Small footprint and so comfortable. All of the colorful fiesta dinnerware is still there. As is the huge assortment of white dinnerware, bowls, serving platters, ramekins, pitchers and accessories. Plus simple glassware covering all types of drinks - water, juice, white wine, red wine, champagne, martini, margarita, highball - so you can buy the type and quantity you need, and they all go together. Shelves of small appliances, lots of baking pans and tools, dish towels, aprons, kitchen gadgets (always my favorite) and barware, too. Plus lots of local and national brand pantry staples. Since it's summer, they had a large variety of outdoor dining tables, bistro and conversation sets, with recliners and stack chairs also available. And of course outdoor dinnerware, many ready fir your July 4th celebration. A Portland company that has been around since the mid 70s, it's always nice to support local. At the same time, you are getting quality items and fantastic customer service. Free parking is available in their lot on the same level as the store, plus in the parking garage down below off Westover, making it a breeze to pop in for whatever kitchen or dining item you are seeking. read more

I love Kitchen Kaboodle, especially this location! If you are a true Portlander, this is the go to place for kitchen and furniture. I was looking for new dinnerware, and found this Kotobuki line hand made in Japan, fired in the original tradition where the rough and imperfect is treasured. How Portland is that? I'd seen other dinnerware at other stores, but they are mass produced. Yes, I also have dinnerware from Portland Saturday Market, and Made In Oregon, but I wanted something more refined., so I got this Kotobuki line. The staff is great here too! It's not that I come here that often, but the staff and I recognize each other. They are very friendly, and knowledgeable. One time, I came in to buy a waffle maker, and the guy showed me the one that he got for his mom. He said she loves it! Tip: Check out the furniture and pillows. With most stores around the area shutting down , I am glad Kitchen kaboodle has only moved a few blocks and is now in a much spacious location . At this particular location you can find a good selection of the finest cookware, bakeware, cutlery, tools & gadgets, kitchen appliances, as well as furniture and furnishings . They also have furniture options where you can o customize fabrics and wood. My personal favorites is the fine-china and glassware section , so many colors and styles to choose from . The products are always of the highest quality and I have been using them for years with no complains . I adore Kitchen Kaboodle, and I need to spend a lot more time (and money) at this locally-owned business. If you need something for the kitchen, they've got it. And as it turns out, their wares spill out into other rooms of the house, too! I've been here a number of times to pick up things I need. Dishes, small appliances, barware, holiday decor. They really have it all covered! The store is organized really well, in a way that is easy to shop and also inspiring. Every time I visit I leave convinced that I'm about to drastically change my life and become the world's best homemaker. That feeling may not last long, but it sure is nice! On my last visit I was there to pick up a gift for the manfriend. The staff was super helpful in assisting me to find the right choice, plus get all of the accessories we would need, things that I probably would have forgotten on my own. It's great to be able to hand over to somebody a truly complete gift, rather than giving them an errand in having to go get the rest of the necessary equipment. It was definitely appreciated. Kickin' Kitchen wares. As their name implies, they sell everything from kitchen items, dishes, pots, pans, furniture to home accessories (the whole kit n' kaboodle so to speak). Everything is high quality, usually with prices to match. While Kitchen Kaboodle is comparable to a place like Crate & Barrel, Kitchen Kaboodle is a local company and they've been in business here for over 30 years. Their goods a top notch, their sales staff are knowledge, helpful and friendly, and they have broad selection of both basic and totally unique items. They have occasional sales in which goods are drastically reduced (but also final sale). I've gotten great deals on dish towels, pots, dishes, and other kitchen accessories. Beware of browsing, you'll find some strange kitchen utensil, ask a salesperson what it's for and before you know it you'll be forced to purchase it because now you NEED one of those do-dads to do that thing-a-majig in the kitchen. In short, they are have lots of perfect solutions for things you never knew needed solving. Shop Local and Shop often. On Black Friday, I shopped small at Portland's best kitchen shop: Kitchen Kaboodle, a 2-story kitchen mecca. The staff is some of the most helpful I ever experienced! This is a great store full of every kitchen item you never knew you needed until you see it here! The decor items also really caught my eye and I could spend a lot time and $$ here. Tip: They also carry a nice product line called Calderra that has lotions, soaps and cleaning products that have a unique and natural aroma such as sage w/ basil for example.. it's good stuff! read more

Kitchen Kaboodle has been in business at least since the mid to late 1970s and opened to success almost immediately due to the interest in the home cook going "gourmet" with the advent of folks like Martha Stewart who blazed the way for the need for quality cooking items (particularly knives). I've visited many times here over the ensuing many years and bought many a wedding and anniversary gift here, but somehow never reviewed it. It has also been a long while since a visit, even before I got started on Yelp. I've always felt like a cat let loose in a creamery at KK. It's a store that feels like being in what you might dream your own home looked like right on down the line to carrying a line of black licorice from Australia that I adore. Since Ron and I have been doing makeovers on our diets, we've acquired a few new kitchen items. He's been looking for a garlic press that allows the garlic to come out in tiny cubes. I wasn't too sure if such a thing existed, but he insisted it would be at KK. We visited, we saw, and we bought exactly what he had predicted. I also got a small packet of my licorice as well. Kitchen Kaboodle is a pioneering store in Portland, yet also stays in step with newer trends. I've never had anything but great service, which is never out of style. I love Kitchen Kaboodle. It's adorable, well laid out, the employees are friendly...every time I'm In the area I go in and fall in love with some gadget or home decor. However, too many times I've gone in and they haven't had what I needed. Normally I'd say that's something you can't fault them for, but as an avid user of Cook's Illustrated, I expect a kitchen supply store to carry their highest-rated products or biscuit cutters the size they specify. I try and buy local and half the time I'm forced to use Amazon. I forgive them, though. The stores are so cool and the staff so friendly that I continue to always try them first. read more

I recalled visiting their NW Portland store several times. So, rather than do the typical Sur la Table order, I called their warehouse and a very pleasant man told be they were shipping. One of the few places I can still get all my "pie makin's stuff" in one location. Prices for certain items aren't terrible while some are a tad spendy if you ask me. However, you can find just about anything in here and is a bit better than your average kitchen wares place. They have continuous sales and the staff is pretty helpful overall. How have I not reviewed here before? I have been here many times. The layout, there are two floors. Kitchen stuff, dishes etc are on the first floor. The second floor is full furniture. It is big and packed so they have a good selection of things for your home. I like the layout here much better then the one by Lloyd Center. Kitchen Caboodle, is high quality though often not the top brands. It has lots of hard to find items. The prices seem fair (but never cheap) for what they have. Ah to have the budget to refurnish from here. The furniture is very nice, very well made and very expensive (though watch for the sales). There's nothing more fun than a carefully curated, thoughtfully organized kitchen store full of everything you need and even more you want. I can wander around in a place like this all day long, debating the aesthetic vs functional merits of three kinds of rubber spatula or hefting utensil crocks to find just the right weight. And on and on.... I hate shopping at big-box chains so for that reason alone I'm thrilled that Kitchen Kaboodle is local and in my neighborhood! They carry many top brands so some merchandise is pricey, but there are plenty of basics here as well that are budget-friendly (less so when it comes to appliances perhaps, but good deals appear nonetheless). Surprisingly, I wasn't hunting for kitchenware but for furniture on my visit yesterday. And there's a whole section of it upstairs: not just kitchen-related, but for the living room as well (couches, tables, floor rugs, and so on). In terms of look, I'd compare it to something like Crate & Barrel or West Elm: modern and comfortable with an edge of safe eclecticism. Additionally, Kitchen Kaboodle's sources are smaller and more conscientious manufacturers, which is a plus. When I'm furniture shopping I'm fairly demanding (it took me months to find the right dining room table). I don't mind spending some money for good sustainable construction, but I lack an unlimited budget; the aforementioned shops are typically doable only with sale prices, plus I prefer to buy more locally and independently. And when furnishing a small space, a piece has to function within some pretty exact parameters (and look just right doing it). In this case, we were looking for just the right storage bench, and I was delighted to find it - on substantial sale - at the back of the store upstairs. Excellent construction from reclaimed wood, with lovely clean lines, and all at a price less than what the national stores advertised for a similar - and inferior - product. Happy! Service couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful; the man assisting us had the bench wrapped up and outside to our car within a few short minutes. On furniture purchases (or at least this one) you still have a week to change your mind and return it, a nice option since sometimes you have to see how something looks in your home before you decide it's really what you want. No second thoughts here though! Aside from all that excellence, Kitchen Kaboodle provides an hour of free parking behind the store so you don't have to lug your purchases blocks to your car or home on the bus. This is my future first stop for anything kitchen-related, and a nice option for furniture too (especially when there's a great sale happening). read more

As one reviewer mentioned (although her review has been flagged by Yelp and is not visible unless you click through), the customer service is horrible. I'd been going to Kitchen Kaboodle for years but after my last experience at this location, I will NEVER EVER be going back. I had received a gift card valued at $70. I had bought ONE item at KK and decided to return it since I found it cheaper elsewhere (surprise, surprise!). When I went to return the item, the guy at the cash register accidentally zeroed out my gift card, leaving it with a balance of $0. He had a hard time trying to put back the $70 on my gift card so he called another person to help. This middle-aged lady that helped was plain awful. Although the guy had told her $70 needed to be added onto my card, she automatically went to assume that I never had $70 on my gift card. She even asked him (in front of me) "did you really see the balance on the card or are you just taking her word?" He replied that he did not check the gift card's balance prior to zeroing it out. The lady turns her back to me so I can't see her face and tells him (although I could clearly hear her words!) "we don't really know how much she really had on this card but I guess we'll have to take her word for it". When she asked me questions about the balance on my gift card, she had a tone that was very judgmental. After this incident, I will NEVER shop at this location again. I ended up going to the KK in Beaverton to use up my gift card and they were great; however, I don't think I will shop at any of the KK shops again. I try to shop local and support the businesses in the area but after this encounter with the staff at KK, I will rather shop at a store that doesn't assume that I'm a lying thief. read more

Downstairs, beautiful! Upstairs, eww. I love that they are local, knowing that makes me want to shop there more instead of the neighboring Williams Sonoma. Great prices, very cute things that are great for the yuppie's new home. I found a million different things that I wanted, and they were all a decent price. HOWEVER! Their furniture upstairs may be cute, but it is NOT comfortable. I have a couch from Ikea that's more comfortable than all the stuff we sat on. The only one that was great was this medium brown leather sofa, so if you have 3500 to drop on a couch, I suggest you get that one. read more

I've grown fond of Kitchen Kaboodle as a place to either find good quality cookware or just plain funky kitchenware. From the first category, I got here my Le Creuset cast iron pan that I just love love love, and from the second category, a soda making machine. What I like about Kitchen Kaboodle is that you actually have a chance to try the soda or coffee-maker before you buy it. The employees are extremely nice and happy to show you the features of their products, provide comparisons, and mail-in rebates if available. They'll be happy to print you an extra copy of the receipt so that you can mail it as proof of purchase. Although I have to say that after my blender broke (my plain 19.99 Oster blender) I came to Kitchen Kaboodle to look for a replacement. Of course they offer the Vitamix among a few other high-end blender models. So what I'm saying is, if you're looking for an inexpensive day-to-day blender, you will not find it here. read more

(They recently moved from NW 23rd Ave to 2315 NW Westover...not far from Zupan's) The staff at Kitchen Kaboodle are always so friendly and welcoming. If you have a question about anything kitchen or food related someone here will have a helpful answer....and maybe even a favorite recipe to share. The new location is a little hard to find but parking in the area is a breeze. The store is big but not so huge as to be unfriendly or cavernous and cold. The way the dishes and bakeware and gadgets are laid out makes sense, which makes shopping a delight. Oh...did I mention the furniture !?! I can't wait for my sofa to wear out so I can buy my next living room suite here ! When I first visited Kitchen Kabodle, I thought they were a national-esque chain. Later, I found out they are a local chain. Either way, this store kicks kitchen ass. Where Williams-Sonoma falls short due to high prices, Kitchen Kaboodle makes up for. You can find just about everything here for your kitchen. I love the way it is organized, too--not like the national chains, and not like a high-end boutqique, but it's a combination of both, and it makes it less intimidating to shop. read more

I bought a $1,500 sideboard here 12 months ago. Last week I emailed Kitchen Kaboodle to tell them that ever since delivery, the sideboard had an important defect that I didn't address in a timely fashion. I wondered if there was any chance that they would replace the sideboard. Within 15 minutes, they called me, confirmed that they had one other unit a year ago that had the same defect, and scheduled a replacement delivery for the following day! Most other stores would have just laughed since I had no proof it was something that occurred prior to delivery, and since a whole year had elapsed. Kitchen Kaboodle said they wanted me to be happy and they agreed to replace it with absolutely no fuss. The swap took place the following day as scheduled and the new piece looks great. read more

My neighbors recommended Kitchen Kaboodle to me, so on an extremely rainy Black Friday I locked up my bike and took a look inside. I had a very modest list of things I was looking for; a soufflé spatula, a lemon juicer and some sponges. This place is insane with how many choices they have, seriously. They had multiples versions of every kitchen gadget you could ever need. Thankfully I had C there with me to be the voice of reason and keep me from spending a grand on things I could never bike away with. I recently had a mix up in my Kitchen Kaboodle order. I received someone else's order instead of my own. I promptly called the number on the invoice and was soon talking to Phillip at the warehouse. I live a bit north of Portland and it was close to Christmas, so I was happy to drop the wrong item off at the warehouse so the matter could be remedied as I had to head that way anyway. Phillip was there to greet me. He thanked me for bringing the item to him and had my items for me. I believe he was grateful and worked hard to make the issue right. Similar complaints to other posters. Service is uninterested and bored. Prices are insane for what you actually buy. Not to mention some of the overpriced stuff is cheap and breaks out of the box.
