we have purchased a few furniture items from them, and every time received excellent service. Everyone in that showroom is so friendly and knowledgeable. Today we had a recliner delivered by Josh and another man who I can't remember his name, but Josh had delivered to us before. Anyway, when they delivered the recliner, we had mentioned that an end table we received last year, we just noticed had some buckling on top that we hadn't noticed before. Don't know what caused it, maybe excessive moisture ( spilled liquid) that we hadn't noticed before ? Anyway, both employees expressed concern, took photos, and said they would notify the delivery office when they returned. So we got an immediate call from customer service asking about the problem, and arranging a replacement the following Saturday. I can not say enough about how great this company is as far as a genuine care for customer satisfaction. In the past, we also had a sofa delivered, that we decided was too small, and they gladly replaced it with no extra cost. We will definitely continue to purchase any future items from them without hesitation. read more

Wonderful showroom in a great part of town. As you enter the store, the staff desk is right in front and they greet you with a big smile. They let you peruse as long as you want and they weren't pushy at all. I explained that we were looking at couches and they agreed that the best way was to test them in person. The setup and layout was wonderful, each "room" is craftfully (is that the right word? haha) designed. There's a variety of couches and a downstairs area too! They are in the mid-upper price range, but well worth it for the quality. If I had the funds, I would totally furnish my house with all their offerings. read more

Very nice US made furniture arranged for easy viewing in the spacious store. The clean lines work for various styles and will fit easily into a furnished home or if you are just staring out, will provide a great baseline. Colors are primarily neutral - think the ever popular gray, cream, browns and for pops of color, throw pillows. On the lower level they have quite the selection of recliners, many with small profiles which I prefer to the big and bulky recliner my dad used to have. Those working here let you browse; they don't proactively approach you but if you have questions, they happily assist. I was looking at a particular bed and dresser and they helped me set up an online account so that after evaluating other furniture lines, if I chose the Room & Board set, it would already be in my shopping cart. Shipping is a flat fee of $175 to any location and they set up the furniture and take all the boxes away. If you are shopping for furniture, definitely worth a stop here. read more

A new Room&Board (R&B) furniture showroom with about 10,000 sq. ft. of space opened about a week ago in the Pearl District. We have stopped by a couple of times because we are looking for some furnishings for our place. And I can testify the furniture and accessories last and wear wellexcellent quality. We actually furnished most of our entire place (bedroom, living and dining rooms) over 10 years ago with Room and Board furniture. We had a good in store designer help us select and match colors. And we still love what we have! And it looks new! Some of furniture is still in production too. All our R&B stuff is in good shape I believe because most all R&B is hand crafted in the good old USA. And I am glad to know that potentially harmful flame retardant chemicals are not used in their couches. I did not ask about the beds but I bet they are flame retardant free too. read more

Michael helped us the first time and then Mark helped when I was ready to make a purchase. I've been telling everyone I know to avoid this store after our incredibly bad experience(s) trying to furnish a new cabin with Room and Board furniture. The line that stays with me is "This never happens..." I beg to differ. 1. Wrong headboard delivered. 2. Had to pull everything out of moving trailer. 3. Told this never happens. 4. Next day, told us that our new sectional has a hole, but they will patch it before delivery. 5. Called us to say patch didn't work. 6. Give us damaged sectional and special order another. 7. Told again this never happens. 8. They deliver the new sectional to cabin- 4 hrs away -but it is light blue not brown (doesn't match our swatch.) 9. Customer service lady starts screaming at me to calm down when I start going off about all that we've been through thus far. 10. Weeks, maybe months later, we get brown sectional, but it is the wrong-sided configuration. No one bothered to check. 11. More weeks, or months later, we get a third sectional 12. The only person who is apologetic to us is the contracted delivery man --who isn't an employee. Avoid this store!!!!! read more

Not one salesperson acknowledged us or even made eye contact when walking by - despite the fact that we were trying out chairs, looking at fabric swatches, and talking about how certain pieces might work out for us. I originally discovered (much to the chagrin of my bank account) Room and Board while living in San Francisco and have proceeded to furnish half of my house with their fantastic furniture. The pieces are high quality, stylish, modern and well worth the price tag. I'm thrilled that a new showroom has opened up in Portland, as delivery rates are now a bit cheaper. They have by far the best delivery system of any furniture store I have ordered from. Its a reasonable flat fee and the delivery peeps are beyond helpful (i.e. they set up your furniture). If you're truly interested in purchasing home furnishings from here make sure to sit down with a sales rep. Much of their furniture is customizable (can change materials, etc) so their selection is far wider then what you see in the showroom. Items never go on sale except for a yearly clearance sale of pieces you probably don't want, but still love this place! read more

What has happened to service in Portland Room and Board? For three visits in October and November the sales people have been huddled together talking amongst themselves. Questions are answered with a yes or no, information seems impossible to come by, no one wants to be bothered. In 2017 we ordered over $8000 in the the store, today I am ordering online. read more

Other than the bogus directions provided by yelp, R&B were and are easy to work with, the display floor is well laid out, and Mark our sales person quickly earned our trust by being genuine and honest and patient and altogether professional. I've ordered a few pieces of furniture from their website, (love the quality), but when they finally opened a showroom in the Pearl, I went in to take a peek. Nice showroom, lukewarm sales people, but friendly enough. They followed us around (in a friendly way) which is always creepy anywhere, but expected in most furniture stores. They were apologetic about the state of the kids room, but we didn't mind. It's far easier just to order it online for us. But we appreciate, now, being able to see it in person first! read more

I'm a bit difficult to please when it comes to quality, service, and delivery. I have used Room & Board, ordered through the phone, several times, and have yet to be disappointed with the quality and the delivery. The delivery is done through their corporate offices and they arrange the date for delivery. Two days prior to delivery, you receive a call from the driver giving you the ETA. They have never been late, but twice an hour earlier! I highly recommend Room and Board. Love their quality, and their styles and comfort, and functionality. read more
