The cafeteria is good, swedish meatballs balls are good, chicken tenders are good, fries are pretty good. The desserts are pretty good, the drink selection is so-so, cola is not very good, but the lingon berry soda is pretty good. The food prices are really good. The only complaint I have is that the portion size is kind of small and the dessert selection is a bit limited. This would be a 4 star place for me but again FREE CHILD CARE!!!!!!! This is the third Ikea I've visited and it isn't as nice as the other two (Charlotte, NC and Woodbridge, VA) have much better customer service. It appears as if Ikea did not take the time to properly train their staff. Some of the Norfolk staff members are rude and act like they don't want to be there. If I am going to get that type of service, I might as well shop at Wal-Mart. The food is good. The showroom was nice to walk through. I ordered a portable kitchen island for my wife's birthday. I paid for it in full online for delivery. The delivery service contacted me 24 hours before to confirm the time they would be at my house. 30 minutes before that time they contacted me again to confirm delivery. 3 hours later I got a notification that my delivery was not delivered. When calling the delivery service, the driver stated that I was not answering my phone and wasn't at my residence, when I was home with my entire family and no record of calls on my phone. I set up a second delivery date and time, which took over an hour of holding on the phone for both IKEA and the delivery service. This time I was notified 24 hours before delivery that the product would not be delivered. Ikea's customer service has disconnected me three times as soon as I finish jumping through the automated service, as has the North American Logistics delivery service three times as well. All I want is a refund at this point and I can't even get that. I hope I don't have to call a lawyer to get my money back. read more

Went to IKEA last week and got horrible customer service experience. The store itself looks very nice and neat. And we could find nice chairs and sofa for our living room pretty quickly. But the sales person who helped me (her name is Jeanne I if I got that right) was really rude. I've never been to ikea before and I was asking questions about the process of buying furniture. And sales person was very impatient, yelled at me for no reason. YOU CANT YELL AT A CUSTOMER NO MATTER WHAT. Sometimes we all have bad days. But it's not a reason to turn your customers away. It's easy to get lost here, and help is somewhat disguised and unobtrusive(which can be good). Good, often quirky things at a good price. Really disappointed that anything that needs to be attached requires another trip to the hardware store for hard ware. Staff, when uncovered, is always kind, and they have a great return policy. Does anyone have an idea what the hours are for the warehouse so that we can do a pickup? I have called Ikea 6 times and been hung up on each time (once after waiting for 20 minutes!). I have called the warehouse 4 times and asked for someone to simply call me back - or text me - with their hours. I got an awful notice saying that I had 3 days to pick up our $500 order from the warehouse yet I can't get any help. Is this the "price" of buying from Ikea? It may not be worth it! read more

I love Ikea and to have one closer to me is fantastic. The furniture is well made but cheap enough for college kids to buy. My couch lasted almost 5 years before I gave it away and got a bigger one. My bed frame is from there as well and has held up remarkably well. Going to go back and get the matching dressers next. read more

We were kicked out of the play area because a kid had been bleeding and they said it would be hours before it would be cleaned up enough to reopen. Not even 20 minutes later we round the corner and they are accepting kids again. Not nearly enough time to "clean everything" like they said they would be doing. Disgusting. read more

While our experience at the store was okay, Ikea did not do a good job restricting the number of people in the store to help with social distancing. We purchased three items and one came with some incorrect hardware. I have tried calling multiple times and only get a recording that they cannot take phone calls. I tried using their customer service contact form on their website and the only option available in their drop down menu is order cancellation. For a company this size, I find it unacceptable that neither the phone system nor the website functions properly. read more

Ikea has the worst delivery system. I ordered a bed, nightstand on May 26, on 6/11 we received notice shipping process has begun. From this point, we have gotten the run around on when we will actually get the shipment. The shipping company confirmed on June 13, and was a no show and no-call, they confirmed again on June 20, again a no show and no-call, they confirmed again for June 23... guess what still a no-show and no-call... confirmed again for June 27th, this time we got a call, they were running late, but about an hour away, that was 2:30 in the afternoon, guess what.... no show and no call! I called back today and now the shipping company says they don't deliver to our area! WTF! Ikea has done nothing to help the situation and has done nothing to hold shipping company accountable! Stay away!!! I spent hundreds of dollars for my order, i paid extra for shipping and this is the service being offered.... they suck period! read more

My husband and I were confused on how to buy stuff here. The layout is weird and we did get lost ALOT. Maybe they want you to get lost to spend money? We just came since we've never been to ikea or order offline. We did find the café it was overpriced hospital food. They don't ask you want you want they pretty much throw it on your plate with small servings I'd give my little sister. The "cola" was disgusting and tasted worse than dollar tree coke. This IKEA is horrible compared to the IKEA in Woodbridge, VA, or any other IKEA that I have been to. The staff were rude, especially at the Foodmarket. Other IKEAs have regular events for kids and families. This IKEA has no events planned. When I asked about possible events, I was told they won't be doing special things like other IKEA stores. Review is based on experience w/ returns and the click and collect area. Holy moly are those people miserable or what? The people working in click and collect have always been straight a-holes. I have done it 3 times now and no matter who it is working there they are rude and act like you're inconveniencing them. Needless to say, I probably won't but anything here again unless it gets shipped to my house. And don't get me started on returns. If you ever need to make a return, my advice to you, just don't. If you've never made a return before me (me) you don't know there is a small iPad looking thing to check in on. First time visiting the new ikea and I went to go park and it said lot is full and had a detour route! The detour route was missing half the signs and even important ones on side street to turn on. Nice and clean. Even has a parking garage. Fast and friendly checkout. Only problem was they said on the inventory that they had 16 kids chairs and the warehouse had none on the shelf. They are doing a stock check but now we have to drive back from Chesapeake and they won't call us to let us know they found them or not. They just said to check stock online tomorrow. Well online was already wrong today. Rechecked and inventory is showing for the Arizona store not the norfolk store. Ordered online and they could not find one item so they cancelled the whole order. But they will not refund money for one billing cycle. They are using customers money to make a profit when they knew they did not have the items. read more

I absolutely LOVE IKEA. Since moving to this area six months ago I've driven to northern Virginia four times to shop at IKEA. It's very well organized, affordable items that keeps my home very well organized! I've visited this store four times already and I'm heads back this morning for a few more items. Finally, IKEA is here. I love it! My favorite part is the café where you get a free hot coffee or hot tea with your IKEA family Card. You can get your IKEA family card at the kiosks located on the first floor opposite the front doors. After having shopped at IKEA for 40 years and in several countries, we looked forward to the Norfolk IKEA. Maybe Im getting too demanding or quality really has gone downhill but I was disappointed. Materials seem inferior and the much vaunted Swedish design was mostly so-so if not downright cheap-looking. But the worst is their customer mistreatment - from the micromanaging of parking (when we arrived at 9:50 on a Sunday the parking lot was mostly empty but we still couldn't just park where we wanted) to the fact that our ENTIRE pre-order was canceled because ONE item was out of stock- so we left without the merchandise we had actually made the trip for in the first place. read more

I have loved Ikea before and have many of their products, but this store is not the quality that I am used to. After driving 90 mins to get to the store, I came with a list of things I needed. Once I get there I can't find many of the items, which is fine since this is a different layout then other ones I visited, but most importantly I can't find a SINGLE person for help. The only people I saw that were employees were the ones at the escalators checking for masks when people come in and the cashiers at checkout. I left without many of the things I was looking for thinking I would just order it online. The customer service through the chat feature as well as the customer service line were equally lacking. SO here I sit, needing hundreds of dollars of furntiture and literally no one at any of the Ikea services I have contacted me are willing to help, they all say call someone else. I want to just call the store, but of course there is literally no number for them anywhere. Even the customer service representatives are unable to contact them. Ok, so it's day 2 since the store opened. And this is my first day visiting the store. Coming in I've noticed how well organized and prepared they was for in coming visitors. But once you get in the store is where it gets confusing. We didn't know which way to go. After walking through the cashiers stations to get on the floor, everything seemed well put together. I love the neatness of the place. However, to me it just feels like a bunch of everything is all over the store. And since it's my first time ever visiting an IKEA, I got a bit overwhelmed fairly quickly. Even my kids were ready to go after visiting the food court. The food court, food is not very good. The food was cold and tasted like hospital food. I was very disappointed in the serving size for the price. And by the time I got to eat it, because of the long wait to check out, my food as cold and blend. I gave it 2 stars because it is just too much going on. Interesting place, and I love the different kitchen items you can get. But, the furniture is a bit low in appearance and quality. Most of their products are produced in China/Indonesia.As they say, "you get what you pay for." If you're on a tight budget and you like assembling some of the products, then go for it. You could also go to Value City Furniture and get a better product and and it is more pleasing to the eye. I did try their cafeteria style cafe. The Swedish Meatball dinner was okay, but I won't be rushing back to get it. In fact, Stouffer's frozen Swedish Meatballs dinner has more flavor and substance in my opinion. Easy checkout and plenty of parking is a plus. UPDATE: Went back today for few items and decided to try the little hot dog/pizza as you exit. Skip this...the hot dogs were terrible and the service attendants were clueless. Like I said, IKEA is a lot of hoopla, and no substance. You'll easily get lost in there and they basically FORCE you to go through their labyrinth of showrooms. Not fun. They're also located at one the worst exit/entrance to Rt 64. read more
