The majority of reviews here are for the furniture, which makes sense (great stuff, I'm planning on hopefully buying a dresser and bookshelf soon and took pictures of my top options here). But I also had a delicious cheap meal here that I have to talk about!! I wasn't starving, just wanted a snack before a long few hours of furniture contemplation, so I got a kid's size of the swedish meatballs for $5. Literally crazy value. 4 meatballs, a scoop of mashed potatoes, scoop of peas, scoop of lingonberry sauce. Delicious as always, just as good as everyone says. And genuinely, I cannot recommend enough checking out the falafel meal. The falafel is thick and textured almost like a meatball itself, and completely full of delicious flavor. It's absurdly good. I usually go with meatballs because they're a classic, but after this experience, I might have to do falafel balls next time. And they were cheap as well! $5 for 8 falafels, couscous, hummus, and a lemon!! What a steal! I'll be back for more soon, probably when I finalize which dresser I intend to purchase. Well I had to get my steps in so I stopped in at our local IKEA! Lol. At least they seem to have changed things up so as you go thru the store you see different areas. All items are easily identifiable as to where to get them. The warehouse is huge and the numbering makes it easy to find your items. Had lunch at a different restaurant but looking at the menus, I probably should have waited and had lunch at their cafeteria. read more

BUMPY START ~ Little bit of a mixed review...ease of location NICE!! Parking spacious w/ plenty of parking lot! Upon entering immediately stuck with having just entered a mammoth shopping experience of mall vs big box warehouse shopping ~ WHERE DO WE GO!? SHOWROOM Sign pointing to 2nd floor. Travel up the escalator ~ so far...\_(**)_/ not a representative to be found! Ease of accessing a map kiosk basically left gazing up down all around lost in a fog of stuff yet not finding what we went for (home office set up). Notice representatives! 3 sitting at their desks...not one greeted us or asked if we needed assistance. My husband calls out to one asking for a tape measure ~ he tells us they "over there on the post), yet doesn't get up to show us what post ~ my husband says "could you maybe help us we've never been here before I don't know where you mean"...this man never moved from his seat. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. My husband said, "these people won't even get off their butts I'm not spending a dime here"! We're leaving! In the lobby on the way out a young man ~ Tyrese says have a nice evening says to come back which immediately triggers my husband into telling Tyrese he would never return as IKEA has no customer service. Tyrese immediately inquires about our experience! As we're speaking Gregory a gentleman is talking to my husband and Tyrese is introducing me to to 26in computer kiosk of what the IJEA shopping experience COULD BE AND SHOULD BE for its customers! AWESOME!! THESE TWO GENTLEMEN not only turned our experience around but also garnered a sale from us!! From the guy just saying he'd never spend a dime there!! IKEA! Checked out Ikea while we were in town for a visit. We had lunch indulging in the best Swedish Meatballs they have here. We also purchased some home decorations that we were taking back home to our own places. Helpful staff and good attitudes in helping us find things. Best Ikea service I have ever gotten. I have been to this ikea for several years ever since I was a little kid and we always like to go check out the beds and other areas I even remember getting into one bed and falling asleep. The only reason I give this less stars then I normally do is because of many things. 1. The bathroom is as duty and messy as any gas station in New York 2. Meatballs are way overpriced for what they are, food good but not worth it for what it used to be 3. Like I said the food was good but when it makes you feel like you just eat at Waffle House then maybe its a concern, I don't know if its how many meatballs we ordered but still it felt off in my stomach Once a great ikea with a well priced meatballs and a children play area. Came here with my family while in the city. One of the worst IKEAs I've ever been too. The selection here was decent, as was the pricing. They have decent item for alright prices, which as with all IKEA and their online store. However, the staff at this location are either downright rude or just unhelpful. During the self checkout process I was unable to scan my IKEA family card for points, and at one point just gave up. The employee kept insisting that I try it again and wouldn't leave me alone when I said "it doesn't matter, just let me check out" as the item I bought was only $6. There was only one person at the small store/cafeteria outside the registers and they were only serving the plant based food and nothing with meat in it. The cinnamon bun I got was very dry and stale. The upstairs restaurant didn't even open until around 2pm there either, meaning that small cafe was the only place on the whole building to get lunch. Once you walk in to the store they have you. The store is huge and you literally have to walk through the whole store to get to the cashier. Great concept, we went in just to look and ended up purchasing several items as we walked the whole store to get out. They have some really nice things and we are looking to furnish our home but it can be overwhelming. read more

Horrible customer service! They gave me the wrong color nightstand when they got it off the shelf for me and it did not match the other piece I purchased that day. When I brought it back to get the color to match my daughter's bedroom set they refused to swap out the nightstand for the appropriate color. Never will I buy from them again! I love IKEA, but the employees need to pay attention as they sent closet organizers rather than glass doors for the Billy cabinets I ordered. Now I have to wait for redelivery and figure out what to do with these items I don't need as they don't want to take them back. The customer service rep. was great, so that's where the three stars come from. When the IKEA furniture store in New Haven first opened in 2004, I found the prices to be affordable although the sub standard quality was rather minimal. It was a good place for college students and for furnishing rentals. Since then, I learned that after 70 years of offering a print catalog and an online catalog, neither one is currently available. There was plenty of parking available so I decided to take a walk through in person. They do still sell a variety of furniture, home decor, and lighting accessories. The store was well stocked and the checkout lines were very short. It may be unfortunately due to the fact that the third rate quality has changed significantly even for their simplest decor. I had plans to meet a friend for lunch, so I did not have time to check out their Scandinavian cuisine. However, the food did smell very good. read more

Who doesn't love getting to try out a show room (or snooping on fictional people?), seeing a variety of kitchens at once, getting to dig through bins of discounted goods, and noshing a decent meal for a decent price? Or grabbing an ice cream on your way out? IKEA is a destination, not a store. I still remember opening day years ago when they gave out Poang chairs. Sometimes your goods says they are in, but the shelf is empty (argh, give it to an employee if you don't want to put it back!). However, there are associates willing to help find what you like (thank you Ruby and Sarah!). The bistro was closed during our weekday trip, so no treating my girl to a cone of dollar fro-yo or a cinnamon bun, but the values make the IKEA trip fun nonetheless. Waiting for furniture orders by the customer service counter is not so fun, sorry, but I found out Ruby and Sarah were willing to help their guests after another employee refused to remove 1 of the five pitchers in their display (please, just one!!!!). It's not a perfect place, but fun furniture, cardboard recycling right outside the exit, and treasure hunting for random goods make it a fun destination. August 2021, New Haven says you need to wear masks indoors regardless for vaccination status, so please do. Hopefully everyone does and Smalland can reopen again soon. read more

The (students???) employees who work here are dissociated rude careless zombies. For an empty store, they had no interest in doing their job or helping people. Ordered click and connect. Could not have it brought out the car - system was shut down so I can to go to the store. Walked into the store. Four employees near the register and two people waiting on service. Store was VOID of shoppers. Two of the employees were sitting on a sofa on their cell phones, scrolling. Waited in the wind - just watched this girl on her phone. Then two employees went to "hang out" with the third employee and started talking about their Friday plans and going to a frat party. Cool cool. Hope you ladies had a great time! 2 of my items were missing. I was told I need to be the one to"go find it in the store or it will take more than 20 minutes." Okay.... My dishwasher died two years ago, I wanted to find one that wouldn't break the bank, I went to IKEA and found a nice one for $250. It's basic and it's still running strong. At IKEA you'll find a wide range of anything and everything for your home. My TV stand came from there, I had to assemble it, it fits the style of my living room perfectly. The price will reflect the depending on the construction of the items. You can find a genuine leather couch, and microfiber couch, and all the materials in between. Their display rooms are fun to walk through and always give me ideas or inspiration, on how to style a room or what piece to add in. They have a very busy cafeteria, where you can enjoy a variety of food. With their "family card" you can enjoy a coffee on the house, to give you a boost of energy for shopping. If you are looking for something inexpensive this is the place to be. They have a large collection of home decor and home goods that you can afford and won't break your bank. My reason for a 5 star rating was the service that I was provided from one of the floor managers named Deana. She was phenomenal, professional, and followed up by providing me with an update even after the store was closed with instructions what I need to do the following day. I have purchased things here for my home and they are of fair quality for the price you paid. My mom and wife loves the store and never walk out with out a shopping cart loaded. IKEA is definitely that store that attracts crowds.... There is always something you can find to buy. I have never left the store empty handed. Furniture for bedroom living kitchen rugs comforters lamps hammer plants ... literally anything and everything one needs in daily life. Although not top notch quality it definitely a good bargain. The store is like a maze, actually more like a track... you have to pass through ever section to get to the finish line (checkout). It forces you to buy things that were probably not on your list... and you will hear yourself say this a lot..."oh I definitely need this and this and this!!" the layout is quite ingenious if you ask me. It is a wonderful shopping experience overall. Clean, clear, cost-effective and quality are our thoughts about IKEA. It would be great to have a short-cut when one finds the item one is looking for early in the serendipitous and sinuous path one must follow to the exit, but we understand that the warehouse arrangement dictates this! The food service is limited but exceptional in every way. We thank you for adding the meatballs to the hotdogs on the exit level. Finally, the bathrooms are excellent in both quality and condition. I have been shopping at Ikea since living overseas many years ago. From furniture to kitchen gadgets to lighting fixtures, I have purchased many items over many years. One of my favorite purchases was a down comforter which has held up great throughout the years. I did buy a desk and chair which were delivered during the pandemic and the delivery fee was outrageous, so I would strongly suggest picking items up at store if possible. I sometimes like to check out the various showrooms for new ideas, and other times I head straight for the marketplace downstairs. I almost always stop in the cafeteria for Swedish meatball plate ( this visit the line was so long I opted to buy a bag and cook them at home instead). It can get crazy crowded with long and slow moving check out lines, especially during the weekend, but I always find something new and useful and never seem to leave empty handed. read more

I love IKEA! It's so fun to spend the majority of a day browsing the showroom for decorating ideas. I always find some great basic household needs, decor or organization. I saw some black candleholders in the showroom that I was unable to find in the marketplace even with assistance from two IKEA employees. They were very friendly and really tried to help me, but we just had no luck. No big deal because I had some great luck in the "As-Is" section. I found a lamp that was marked way down just because it was a floor model. The veggie balls meal was a delicious and cheap lunch. I can't wait to go back! read more

I want to like Ikea....but I can't. I had the chicken pumpkin sage dish in the cafeteria. The chicken was good but the veggies are barfariffic! The zucchini tasted like it was cooked in fish broth. I would think a hipster kinda place would have more gluten free option but no. Tiring, cheap looking furniture...hot...crowded...staff looks overworked. Hate the entire experience. Self serve registers were BIG BROTHER for sure. We did buy a small table and a couple of scratch n dent chairs that look like they may hold up for awhile. Oh...giant 5th wheel with the slide out and wheels falling off in the parking lot with caution tape around it. Interesting. Makes me not want to go to Sweden and that makes me sad. Great place. I always have to drive about 45 minutes however, it is so worth it. The service here is always great. Everyone is so willing to help when you need help. They have a very large selection with several things you can purchase. Sometimes it's a bit overwhelming so my best advice is to go with a mission. You can get lost going window shopping. I've been to two Ikeas and I've been to this one a few times. I like to go during the week towards closing time bc it's much easier to maneuver around with less children. I love IKEA...until I'm there. Every time I go there, I regret it. Even when I find stuff I like, the shoppers that seem to gravitate to IKEA make it a terrible experience for me. Hey parents - they have free daycare there. FREEEEEE. So please, for the love of God, instead of dragging your screeching kids down the aisles by their arms, or letting them crawl all over the floor unattended, do us all a favor and drop them off at the daycare. Then, maybe you'll be able to focus on walking, and not just stopping abruptly mid-aisle, completely oblivious to all of the people around you. Remember how busy the parking lot was when you arrived? And you had to walk half a mile past 475 cars just to get to the front door? Yeah, you're far from the only one in the aisles. Let's use some common sense here. There are only a few things I'll buy at IKEA - blankets, throw pillows, lamps, plants. Stuff that I can locate, select, and purchase without staff intervention - as you'll never find someone to help you in any area of the store, other than the registers. I bought some frames for my table numbers for my wedding and they were great. They also have the best orchids! And cinnamon buns. But they don't sell Xanax, which is really what you need in order to get through the aisles and complete a shopping trip. I have left my stupid sideways moving shopping cart full of stuff on stormed out of the store on more than one occasion. I always leave angry and vow not to go back...but the lure of the cinnamon bun is great, and damn it, I just can't get a 99 cent toilet brush labeled in Swedish, but made in China, anywhere else. read more

My experience was great with this Ikea! I had never been before so I didn't know what to expect. When we first arrived we went up the escalator to the cafeteria. We had coffee, cinnamon buns and a crepe. Our mini meal was delicious and the service in the cafeteria was great! We arrived at the Ikea before the store portion was open so we only looked around in the kids section which is close to the cafeteria. The second floor is the showroom portion of Ikea. There are many different things you can look at on this floor. Since we were not looking to buy any large items we simply looked around. The showroom was easy to follow and it was really cool to see the furniture in a sample room. If you are planning on buying a bed frame or any large appliance make sure you grab a paper and a pencil to write down the item number and name (These can be found around the store). Then we took the stairs to the bottom floor which is where you can find all the items you wrote down and products that you see in the showroom. It is very organized and you are able to walk around and find whatever you need. There are arrows on the floor which indicate the direction you should be moving in. Once you have collected all of the smaller items you would like to purchase, at the end of the bottom floor is a warehouse-type room where you pay. This is also where you can find large products (tables, bed frames, etc). In the warehouse, there is a separate room filled with return or damaged items or items that are from past seasons. These items are cheaper than they usually would be due to small damage or because they are old. Check out that section... They have some good deals! After you check out there is a mini food store. This section has all the Ikea favorites and other Swedish foods. We bought Frozen Swedish Meatballs since we weren't able to purchase them in the cafeteria due to it being morning. I will definitely be coming back to this Ikea once COVID is over! read more

This is smaller than the one in NJ, and honestly... just as much as a pain in the butt to get to! The look outside was actually misleading; it seemed much larger. The outside setup for packing your car after you shop is also much better vs NJ. Inside.... well, maybe it's the pandemic, maybe I've just outgrown Ikea, but I really wasn't impressed. It's the same old designs from 5 years ago, nothing fresh or new to really catch my attention. The worst part, and I believe THIS is due to covid, is that they were out of stock on SO many things. So... while there are shipping delays and what have you because of the pandemic, I strongly suggest you avoid coming in person if you know what you want. You're better off ordering online.
