A gorgeous plant shop in downtown new haven! I love how you're greeted by a literal jungle right when you walk in. There are so many varieties of plants that change pretty frequently - one of the mangers said that new plants arrive every Wednesday- and I find myself returning every so often to just to browse (and somehow I always end up with a new addition to my plant family!). The staff are friendly and very helpful. There's a great rewards program - so easy to rack up points and redeem discounts! There are also occasional sales and community events (pop-ups, calligraphy classes) that they'll post about on their social media.

Lovely plant selection, very kind staff and just great vibes overall. They have a lot of cool things besides plants and pots too - lots of unique jewelry, crystals, art, etc. The prices aren't that bad either. Will definitely be going back.

Bark & Vine is a trendy and vibrant plant shop in downtown New Haven. As someone from out of state visiting, who has an affinity for houseplants, this was a must stop. The vibes are immaculate; from the plant selection, product merchandising, and music choice. It was a welcoming shop that invited you to not only come in for a browse, but chill out on the yellow sofa surrounded by luscious plants. Let's talk products: there is a wide selection plant related items from pots, soils, tools. You could definitely find a gift for a plant loving person in your life. There was a selection of greeting cards, stickers, and cute accessories. It was an enjoyable shopping experience. They accept electronic payments such as tap. Let's talk plants: there was a good variety of species in the shop. They all looked well cared for and healthy. The only downside is the price. This store is definitely not for those looking for a deal on plants. The plants are priced for their size, species, coloring, and then add some $$. Could you find a similar plant for a lower priced at a Home Depot? Probably. But these plants are very cute and I wouldn't let the price deter you from coming in. Let's talk services: there is a potting station where a team member will help you plant your new friend. I also believe they will repot an existing plant you have. The team members are extremely knowledgeable and are very willing to help you pick out the right plant for you. They also do plant consultations which is really cool! Definitely feels like a community plant hub. Let's talk location: this store is in the heart of New Haven so it can be kind of tricky to get to. There are plenty of parking garages in the area which I utilized during my visit. There's no parking directly at the shop so it's a little walk from wherever you park. Overall, it is such a great spot. One star removed because of the plant prices, definitely on the more expensive side!

What a great experience. We admit to not having green thumbs, we knew we needed some plants at home and we wanted to get it right. So we went local and through a recommendation found ourselves in green plant heaven. Ok, over dramatic. We enter, we were greeted in a very friendly way, and immediately you see the way the decorations highlight and celebrate all things green. We asked for help and a very knowledgeable person helped us find low light (vs needs a lot of light, which they sperate in the space) and which were pet friendly and which needed minimal care. Pots galore to help place the plant in the right spot in the right room. When checking out, another knowledgeable friendly person making sure we got how to water, when and feed. We even got a reminder card with notes! They just made it a great experience and now that we are home, we need to go back and get some more!.

Bark & Vine is my favorite place in all of New Haven. Walk inside and it is a guaranteed mood-booster. I love swinging by to check out what's new in stock, explore the pot selection, and be greeted by friendly staff. It feels like a real community of plant lovers. The folks here have been wonderful about offering plant advice both by email and in-person. Here's a recent example: Last week, I had a plant crisis: my favorite plant -- a gloriously large begonia I purchased in honor of a dearly departed friend -- was dying and mostly gone. Despite my best efforts to save her, the fungal disease had already taken over. I was desperate to find a way to at least keep some part of her alive. So I reached out to Bark & Vine for help with emergency plant surgery and received incredible support. Isabella and Mariah talked me through how to propagate cane begonias from stem nodes, and were more than happy to advise. Then the next day, knowing how much sentimental value this begonia had for me, Christine reached out to me with a miracle: by chance, a stem from my original plant had actually fallen off and been propagated at the store into an adorable 4 inch beauty, which I could come by to pick up. I was overwhelmed with tears and joy at this news. Isabella, Mariah, and Christine, you really came through for me - Thank you!! I won't forget the kindness I received from you. And Thank you Bark & Vine staff for all the magic you bring to your customers!

This little shop is a great addition to New Haven. They have a wide variety of beautiful and interesting house plants at reasonable prices. I have, so far, limited myself to only taking home a barrel cactus, a pencil cactus (or fire stick plant), and a small myrtle topiary. As soon as I find more space, I will be back again! Don't think you have a green thumb? That's ok! They will help you out. They will give you tips or make some recommendations based on your space, your schedule, and the well-being of other occupants in your residence (i.e. pets, children). They also have a variety of cute planters, pots, and accessories in addition to some unique gifts and goodies. They have the cutest animal pots! I purchased a black lab head and a hedgehog last time I was there. I highly recommend a stop! Brighten up your office or greenify your windowsills. You are bound to find something here for yourself or someone else that will bring a smile!

First time coming there. Everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable and they even repot your plant for you there with new soil! The selection could be a tiny bit better but otherwise would definitely buy a plant from them again! My plant rn is doing great and is so beautiful!

I was so excited to have a cute plant store in the neighborhood but was quite disappointed with what I got. I first got this little tree which they assured me would be an easy plant to take care of. They gave me a nice little card that showed how to take care of it (how much to water, lighting, etc). I did exactly as they said and two weeks later I noticed most of its leaves had fallen off. I took it back in to see what I was doing wrong and if I can return it. I was told it had bugs, so they sprayed it and sent me back home. They recommended I get some bug spray and periodically spray it. I did what they said, only for this plant to fully lose all of its leaves within two months after my purchase. Right before that plant died, I also purchased a pothos. Figured I'd give this easy to take care of plant a try. Again I did exactly what I was told to do on the card they gave me and one month later all it's leaves were dead. I have several other thriving plants in my apartment so I'm not sure what's going on with these guys. Maybe there were bugs which my bug spay couldn't contain? Regardless, after spending $70 total on these two plants only for them to be fully dead within 3 months is very disappointing.

This shop is absolutely wonderful. I came in with two friends who are very knowledgeable about plants and we had a great time looking at the variety of plants, pots, pins, soaps, candles, and other neat things! The environment was very welcoming and the staff had engaging conversations with my friends about certain plants and their past experiences with them to help pick the best one. I bought a bundle of sage and it looks and smells absolutely gorgeous.

String of pearls. $28, which is the best price I've seen for this plant in this good of shape.

I've already come to terms with the fact that I will be spending a lot of time/money here. I think I've visited three times just this week. Today I got the pleasure of meeting the owner Ralph who had to answer about 1000 questions from me. He was so knowledgeable and pleasant to talk to. I truly could have chatting about plants with him all day. I also went home with three more beautiful plants. It's safe to say I'm in love with Bark and Vine

If I hadn't looked up local nurseries I never would've known they were there, it's definitely a pleasant surprise to find this adorable farm tucked away where I never would've guessed! My birthday passed recently and the only two things I told my family I wanted to do were get boba tea and go to the nursery. Golden Acres was my choice and I'm so glad it was. I was very impressed by the variety and amount of plants they had, there was tons to choose from! They have numerous greenhouses open at various times with seasonal veggies, perennials, annuals, etc. I love that they are organic and make a point to feature what they do and don't use. I am more of an ornamental gardener who only does a few edibles, but I still try to stay organic and it meant alot to me how transparent they were about their practices. The signs at each greenhouse with pricing and variety were extremely helpful and the way it was setup almost on a trail that you followed to each greenhouse (with various plants also set up outside) made it easy to look at everything without getting too turned around. All the plants looked very happy and healthy and I didn't see any visible pests while browsing. They were close to closing when we stopped by but they never rushed us or acted inconvenienced that we were still there. I ended up purchasing 2 6pk coleus starts - wizard mix and rainbow mix (with plans to return and purchase more plants once I had more time and money), and they were very reasonably priced, transplanted wonderfully and all 12 are thriving. I was extremely impressed by Golden Acres and can't wait to go back. Highly recommend!
