My goals for the day were. 1. Buy a pumpkin, 2. Pet a goat. So with the added bonus of ice cream, I headed to B&B flower farm, which is near where I work. There were a few cars in the lot and not a ton of people on a Friday early afternoon. They had a lot of plants and produce around, and a huge area with pumpkins that they have priced by the pound. I quickly found a pumpkin the idea size for me, and a woman working there quickly rung me up (all cash only here!). I let her know I'd also be grabbing ice cream so we both walked to the ice cream area and I grabbed a salted caramel in a cone, about $6. There were some interesting flavors I wasn't sure of, and she happily explained. There's numerous benches around so I finished up around there, and then went and said hi to some of the farm animals milling about. Cute vibes, good ice cream! I believe they close the ice cream shop for the season at the end of October, so I'll try to be back before then! read more

Went for the ice cream. Good variety of flavors. I had a medium cup with maple walnut and pistachio. Maple walnut was good. Did not like that the pistachio was green rather than white but it was pretty good. Some seating outdoors as there was a gazebo and another covered area with tables. I've been looking for a replacement of Old Bishop Farm in Cheshire which has sadly closed and was my 2nd favorite ice cream after UConn dairy bar. I may try this place again if in the area but would not make the 35 minute trek otherwise. read more

Stopped in again this year on pizza run and was very glad to have done so. Spoke with owner, Bob, about life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness (among other things) - got a great sweet treat at the end of hot summer day along with some sound philosophical pondering. I would patronize this place daily if local - couldn't find a more "salt of the earth", easygoing, gentleman if you tried. Surrounded by family and critters that he obviously loves makes the whole place fill your heart (and sweet tooth) with joy. The farm and the man are a treasure. Make sure to visit Bud the horse, Goats 1,2&3, and the donkeys that I am sorry to say I did not get a picture of/they have unique "crosses" down their backs and are beautiful (albeit a bit rammy) little creatures. read more

Been going here since I was 5. The ice cream is amazing with so many flavors, it takes me 5 minutes to choose but I always get chocolate. The owner of the farm is nice and a kind guy. The farm also has goats, horses, and donkeys. The place sells a lot of things like Ice cream, Christmas trees, Christmas decorations, and a bunch of other stuff in their shop. It's been a long time since I been so I forgot the guys name that runs the store but he was one of the kindest people I have ever met. It's a farm stand with some great looking corn, squash, tomatoes and cucumbers. It's a cool gift shop with plants, flowers, wall hangings, and home décor. It's an ice cream parlor with cups, cones, soft serve, frozen yogurt, sorbet, and 35 flavors of very good hard ice cream. I had a dish of Amaretto Cherry and it was outstanding. And lastly, it's a zoo -with donkeys, goats and one horse. We saw a lot of families and little kids having the time of their life, running around with looks of delight on their faces. B&B Farms is a farm and ice cream shop that opened in West Haven, Connecticut in 1998. It was founded by husband and wife Robert & Barbara Newkirk. The 12-acre location has actually been a farm since the 1940s, but the Newkirk Family didn't take over until decades later. Three years after opening the new farm, the Newkirks moved onto the property when they realized that they spent more time there than at their previous home down the street. One of the main crops on the farm is their large selection of flowers. They also grow pumpkins and various squash and gourds for the Autumn. In addition to crops, there is also an ice cream shop on the property that carries over 22 flavors of ice cream (supplied by Buck's French Ice Creams from the neighboring town of Milford). The farm hosts children's parties in their big red barn and also offer tractor-drawn hayrides, pony rides, and even horse-drawn sleigh rides during the Holiday season. Since 2014, the Newkirks' son Tyler has his own craft shop on the property. The gift shop carries a variety of handmade crafts along with ​an abundance of unique decor, candles, soaps, cards, house plants, antiques, etc. In addition to Newkirk's own crafts, the shop also carries the work of many other local crafters. The shop also provides florist and decorating services. My family and I visited B&B Farms for the first time recently. My son loved all of the animals on the property, which included goats, donkeys, and horses. They had a nice selection of pumpkins and decorative gourds, as well as beautiful mums. The craft shop had some really cool Autumn and Halloween decorations on displays. The ice cream shop had an extensive selection of flavors. I ordered a cup with Pumpkin and Apple Pie ice cream, my wife ordered a cup with Pumpkin and 'Swamp' (Vanilla malt ice cream, caramel, crushed Oreos, chocolate chips, M&Ms and malted milkballs), and our son had a cup of Vanilla. We were all very happy with our choices! We enjoyed our time at B&B Farms and we look forward to returning in the future. read more

This is a cool farm where you can sit in a beautiful setting and have some ice cream. There is some flower plants for sale and some animal petting. I tried 4 of their ice cream flavors of which black raspberry was my favorite. Amaretto cherry was a good one as well. Cotton candy and pistachio were ok. You can add only 2 flavors to either small or large size cups. It sounds strange, why we cannot pick 3 scoops on a large, after all it is 3 scoops of ice cream. read more

Really cute farm, looks like a great time for younger kids with the barnyard animals (donkey, goats, etc). Ice cream was good but I don't know if it was #2 in the state. My wife really liked her cookies and cream cone. My coffee ice cream shake was alright, the flavor was on the weaker side and not really sweet. I went there to buy an ornament that Gabby is famous for, her beautiful tree ornament but they were sold out. Too cold for ice cream but I didn't want to leave. It's so cozy and warm and the beautiful variety in Tyler''s shop is unbelievable. I have to come with my wife so I brought something very safe and will come back very soon. The fireplace made me want to spend the day! Tyler makes you feel very comfortable and is very helpful and makes me feel very safe with all his virus protocols. There is plenty of parking and it's a little confusing to find the ice cream parlor but just look for the line of people waiting!! Very small, lowkey place, not many people around. Ice cream was delicious, I definitely recommend the speciality sundaes, I had the Tracy one which had maraschino cherry flavored ice cream!!! I didn't even know that flavor existed but it is my new fave! There is also a lot of animals and A mini flower stand where we bought some cute 5$ flowers!!!! Adorable farm with a gazebo, small shop and some farm animals. I came here for ice cream after a beach trip and was blown away by the amount of flavors. I got the Maine Black Bear which had raspberry swirls and some chocolate filled raspberry disk. The people working the ice cream window were super nice and understanding. My friend thought her ice cream was okay (had some freezer burn), but she loved an adorable bunny at the farm. Overall it was a great spur of the moment decision. My two friends and I ordered ice cream and immediately the girl was rude. Then she proceeded to give us the wrong order and fought us that we didn't specify enough. My friends dog is an emotional support animal which we let the employees know. The (I believe) owners dogs ran out at our dog and she proceeded to tell us our dog can't be here even as an ESA. She was also extremely rude so we ate our ice cream in our car. I never make negative reviews but from the minute we came we had a terrible experience. read more

What a cute hidden gem! I recently moved to New Haven and we happened to be in West Haven passing by- when the big wooden ice cream sign caught our eye. Being that the heat has be unrelenting, we decided to treat ourselves to ice cream on a whim. We were in for a treat: a cute little farm with horses, a small shop, and of course the icecream! 3.95$ for a small & 4.95$ for a large, you cant beat those prices. My boyfriend and I ordered smalls and they give you A LOT of ice cream. We could barely finish our cups! Definitely be sure to stop by here. What a delightful place! I'm a nanny for 3 little boys and we stumbled across this place on a meandering drive back from the beach last week. Since then, it's been requested 3 straight days. We've gone in the morning during the week so we've been the only ones there, but it's a quiet, quaint little place with plenty of simple pleasures from a hiking trail to animals, tractors, and of course an ice cream shop to entertain the toddlers. Had the Moose Track Ice cream which was yummy and the large cup is a nice big serving that will take care of any cravings.
