Whew, okay I definitely got all my steps in today! I think I spent about 3 hours here, no joke. They have everything and anything you could ever want in your life. I was bored and decided to just come look around to kill some time and I left with so much! Bowls, a bath robe, a thermos, slippers, I could go on forever. I love how they are handling Covid by distancing the sinks in the bathroom, disabling the hand dryers, requiring and offering masks constantly disinfecting everything. I had a speedy checkout process with no issues! This place is awesome. Everything was priced really inexpensive! I felt like a kid in a candy store! I will definitely be back! IKEA JAX - here finally! We've been patrons (and road trippers) to the IKEA Tampa and Orlando locales for years and it's great to have one right in our backyard! Full transparency here: I was plenty concerned about the potential traffic gridlock this locale would create at Gate Parkway and I-295 and did my very best to stay away for a while well after the Grand Opening! We've been to IKEA JAX many many times for the broad range of shopping "theme park style" from furniture (college kids apartments) to those incredible and reasonably priced home kitchen gadgets! The other cool perk is to time your visit with one of the holiday day weekends sales where if you purchase $100 or more, the entire IKEA restaurant bill is FREE in IKEA! As mentioned by others Yelpers, must get the "IKEA Family" card for purchase discounts as well as that FREE beverage during each visit! The one floor layout of IKEA JAX is unique and provides a ton of product (and walking) space! Be sure you get to know the shortcuts otherwise you are in for a very long "walk ride" before you get to the exit registers! Three attempts to finally be able to snag the bookshelf of my daughter's dreams! Ha ha . This bookshelf was a hot ticket item as it was continually selling out. Our second trip one of the lovely customer service reps advised my husband how to check the online system to know what are the item was available in stores as they're not able to do online orders for pick ups at this time. A green dot next to the item means fully in stock, orange means a limited number are available, and red means they are out. This afternoon we checked and saw the GREEN LIGHT! So we made our way over. One great thing about each visit we have made is the customer service is always outstanding and of course the meatballs!!! Never a wasted trip but ecstatic we were able to purchase the bookshelf today. If you are looking to come into the remember to bring your mask. Ikea does have hand sanitizer set up along with stickers on the ground to remind people to social distance. At the checkout areas and the snack bar they have protection dividers up for the safety of the workers as well as a guest. Confession time... I've never been to an Ikea until this visit. That being said, it may have been a bit overwhelming considering it was during their grand opening on day three when I happened to pass through town. I did have Tim K with me to help explain the process, but at first, I was still not understanding how the Swedes do shopping. Because of the whole grand opening thing, we had to park over a mile away and take a shuttle bus to and from the store. Considering the insanity, the employees were very well trained and totally on top of their shit for day three. The whole place is definitely a cool experience and now that I know the deal I would feel more comfortable going in with a mission of items to find. This trip was just shock and awe of me walking around aimlessly looking at stuff. The most exciting part was the food court. I had heard legend of the meatballs but I didn't know it was a whole cafeteria. Everything is so cheap too. I think we sampled all the desserts, got double orders of meatballs, and added garlic bread and a drink. I skipped the salad bar cause who wants to fill up on greenery when you have room for more meatballs. After dining, I was kinda over this whole deal but I felt like I needed to come home with an Ikea souvenier. I picked up a couple household items and made my way to the front. I picked up some of those tarp bags cause I use em for work all the time (I actually bought some on Amazon before) and grabbed some frozen meatballs and gravy for home. We had a long ride back so I hit the candy sections and dropped another twenty bucks in there somehow. I do wish there was one closer to Charleston, but I'll look forward to my next trip and be a little less wet behind the ears next time. read more

We waited for so long for Ikea to come to Jacksonville. So long in fact that we no longer need any furniture. It's still a fun place to walk around on a rainy day to see the interesting items they carry. The food area is a great place for an inexpensive dinner. The Swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes and veggies are served cafeteria style hot and delicious. The deserts are also very good. They also sell the foods they sell in the cafeteria in the frozen food section near the entrance. You can purchase a bag of frozen Swedish meatballs and packs of gravy at prices that fit any budget. We waited for a furniture store and ended up with a place for good food at fast food prices. read more

The people who wrote negative reviews because they walked through the WHOLE store, do/did not know how IKEA works and never bothered to read the well placed signage directing them to those 'shortcuts'. There are shortcuts to whichever section you want to go to, so that you don't have to walk more than necessary. Some of us like wandering though. read more

Things I love about IKEA.....Everything! Lol No really, so happy we finally got an IKEA in Jax! Parking is kinda crazy, it's like Disney, make sure you remember what letter you parked in, they have people out there directing traffic..not sure how long they will do that. Once inside it's just awesome!! Soooo much cool stuff!! And it's so affordable! Prices are great!! It is really like a maze, I had no idea where to go, they have arrows on the floor to help guide you. The restaurant is in the middle of the store so if you wanna eat you have to walk thru. Speaking of the restaurant...omg so yummy!! The breakfast was like $2!!! Seriously $2 for a full breakfast! Eat everything, it's all good, the meatball plate delish!! They have their Marketplace where they sell Swedish foods and frozen foods up front right where you enter and exit. Only negative I experienced was the lines to get food and to check out were long ( and this was on a Monday morning!), but hopefully that will get better as they adjust to being open and schedule people accordingly. First,let me say that I have been a # 1 fan of Ikea ever since my first encounter with IKEA in the greater Washington DC area almost 30 years ago. Recently, I ordered a credenza for my TV, and chose to have it delivered and set up the delivery service and engaged TASK RABBIT to put it together. The Task Rabbit representative has been very responsive and has answered all of my inquiries promptly...very efficient! There is a terrible lack of communication regarding the delivery of my item. The delivery dates posted on the website are erroneous, the phone number(s) are often 'too busy to take my call now", and I have no idea what the status of my delivery is. The lack of communication is frightening and there is no where to turn to for assistance. Shopping at IKEA is a dream.....getting delivery service with IKEA is a nightmare. read more

We finally got one!!!!!! I've been to the one in Atlanta which is multilevel and that was my first time in an IKEA store and what an adventure. To hear that we were finally getting one I was so excited. This day I RSVP'd to the sneak preview day for IKEA Family Members who signed up for their rewards program. I chose the earliest rsvp time thinking that we would be one of the first ones in line. Boy was I so wrong. We got there on time but by then the line was wrapped around the building. Good grief. Luckily, the line was moving pretty fast and IKEA staff were registering people in line for the rewards card, handing out coupons, and free gifts such as an IKEA Family bag, travel mug, and jar opener. We finally got in and realized that this store was not multilevel, but one level with 26 departments. We didn't have any plans to buy anything in particular. We just wanted to stroll and that's what we did from departments 1-10. The furnishings were awesome and my mother and I checked them all out. We finally got to the restaurant which was the main thing we were really looking forward to. The line was long but that's ok. While we were waiting one employee was passing out Daim candies. These were described as Swedish candies similar to a Heath bar and they are really good. While we were in line they switched from breakfast to lunch and we were a little bummed about that, but I got over that when I saw the marinated salmon plate with mixed greens. I had to get it. I also grabbed a can of pear cider and a side of their Swedish meatballs. My mother got the meatballs as well and their mac n cheese. No complaints here about anything. Mom who I think is very particular about what she eats liked the meatballs and the mac n cheese. She wasn't too crazy about the gravy though. She also had a fountain drink of their lingonberry fruit water to which she said it was just ok. She's not used to trying things like that. I loved the meatballs, gravy, the lingonberry sauce, cider and the salmon. I'm thoroughly impressed. Pressing on, we went through the rest of the departments and we did end up picking up some items. After running into a friend, she recommended the IKEA ponchos because they are a little more sturdier and have extra pockets in them, awesome for theme-parking. We both picked up some items at the very end in the "As-Is" section, a section of IKEA that has marked-down items due to minor scratches, discontinued items, or missing pieces. I found some silverware and she found a floor lamp. I would I return? Absolutely but maybe when the newness dies down. I expect it to be crazy on grand opening day and for at least 6 months afterwards. But if you're brave enough to go before then, have fun! read more

Well now that Ikea has been here for almost 2 weeks....the crowds have calmed WAY down. You can actually park in the Ikea parking lot and the cashier lines are very manageable! The café lines, however, are never ending...still. Please be aware that there are 2 lines to get your meals....everyone seems to like only 1 line (by the cold food line). Even the employees are encouraging people to use the other line to speed up the process. ***They now have a cashier in the marketplace for your dinner items. YAY!! And the Bistro is more accessible to get some of their ooey gooey delish cinnamon rolls...or a slice of pizza! read more

I was an Ikea virgin until a few days ago and I am in love with the store! I will admit, at first I was quite overwhelmed by the parking, all of the people, and the humongous store (I got lost twice). But once you figure out that there are arrows on the ground to direct you which way to go and that there are maps hanging from the ceiling you are good to go! IKEA's prices are great, the showrooms are amazing and decorated beautifully, and their products are gorgeous. The only downfall is that you have to put the furniture together. The food at the restaurant is ok, nothing amazing but it does the trick for the cheap. If you are in need of some beautiful home decor I would definitely recommend ikea. read more

Thank goodness, an IKEA in Jacksonville! I'm sure the Orlando IKEA is slightly relieved that the Jax folks have their own (but no matter what, we'll always visit when we're in Orlando). This IKEA is slightly smaller as it is only 1 story. Nicely displayed with a lot of sections (of course). Love the examples of floor plan and room décor and you can somewhat easily find what you need. Sometimes, they do run out on items, so be careful and make sure to check online first. I was looking for a the medium-sized stainless steel bowls and they ran out of it (except for the ones that are on display like 10-15 feet above me). I asked a tall customer to bring it down for me and he helped as there weren't many associates on the floor (I couldn't find any around the area). Organization is nice, however I know some people get confused on where to find the "looser" items (such as bulbs, brackets, little gadgets here and there). Just remember to look at the item (on display) and find the codes, then you should be able to find there around the same area. For example, there was a specific bulb for a particular lamp and so on the tag, it tells you what type of bulb and also the section letters/numbers. Of course, if you do not know, ask an associate. The café area was clean and had a good amount of room and tables. I wished that they had the doors to the café open so that I can go directly to the café instead of walking through the showrooms to get there. Sometimes, I just want to eat and that's it. I had the Swedish Meatballs and Salmon, both are delicious. Cooked well and the sides that came with it was delicious as well. IKEA keeps it healthy and for a good price too! Overall, I enjoyed my time here and would most likely return. Best to have associates ready and on the floor when assistance is needed. read more

I jumped on the bandwagon and went to the new Ikea in Jacksonville. Despite the possibility of no parking, massive crowds and shopping mazes. I had my roomie with me and we were ready for an adventure. So why not? People in Jax had been talking about it for months. It's happening. It's coming. The grand opening is finally here! The catologues showed up in our mailboxes like personalized invitations to a new home furnishings theme park. The buzz was big and the boxy building even bigger. We headed to the new blue lego of shopping complexes to take on Ikea. A Labyrinth of Living Goods It had opened about 4 days prior, so we assumed things had settled down a bit. Less crowds but plenty of fanfare is what we hoped for. The first obstacle was parking, which was a bit of a cluster, but we stuck it out and took some sneaky U-turns that got us to parking in front of the store. Avoiding the shuttle madness and heading in on foot, we breathed in and hoped for the best. Sure there were plenty of people. Yes, kids were running all over and parents chasing them or calming the crying ones... but the mood was still rich with anticipation, and we were able to maneuver toward the showroom floor. It perfect Ikea fashion, we were able to peruse the tiny room examples, leading us to dream of matching paint, edgy, utilitarian design and cheap furniture that was yet unbroken. What wonders we say - closets that were so neat without clothing. Desks, perfectly ordered without papers scattered about. Neatly made beds. Flawless counters and curtains devoid of windows. We meandered and twisted through the labyrinth of living goods. We were able to not get lost or too tired. Sure there was some decisions making about the order of our exploration...I said no shortcuts or you end up lost! But Irene had been there before and guided me to the next section. We walked by a live band playing in the cafeteria and a chaos of trays and family bumping into each other. The room smelled of meatballs and hungry shoppers. We decided to dance through and explore the next section. I found a few fun items - a plant, a watering can (not the super modern one Irene suggested), a lampshade and a ladle. Irene picked out a plant, a cool lamp and a few other small items. I shower her how you take a pic of the item number, then find the aisle later. She bought a white end table for her room. I decided it was time to get the mattress I'd been needing. I talked to an employee beside the aisles of boxed furniture who helped me set up the mattress delivery order. She said all I had to do was pay for it and it would be delivered the following Saturday. Unfortunately my last dealings with Ikea were quite unpleasant. The delivery was a bit botched. It took an hour of waiting on hold to figure out when it was scheduled. But I was told it could come Friday. On Thursday no one called to confirm (which they said they would), and when I called I was told they couldn't reschedule. Yes, I did eventually get my delivery and the item was in perfect condition, but it was an awful hassle figuring out the time and both the 3rd party delivery company and Ikea customer service were no help. You win some, you lose some. With mass production and a hugely popular new store, one expects some setbacks. Fortunately the excursion itself - visiting the new store -had no hint of the delivery confusion. As Irene and I went to check out we had the pleasure of enjoying some fantastic jams courtesy of the DJ posted at the front of the check out area. With old school hip-hop playing we made it through the lines easily. The cashier told me I might need to go to the home delivery line, but probably not since I had scheduled the day. A little confused about when my mattress would be delivered, my roomie and I danced out of the store and declared it a successful trip. We even made plans to hear the DJ play at The Wreck by the beach later that night. read more

Omg, I love this place! Great stuff for the house and a fun way to shop. Great restaurant for dining in as well. They make their own soda that is so good. Their desserts are cravably delicious. Of course you haven't done Ikea until you've had a meatball plate.... It is definitely a workout to go to the store since you have to wind through the showroom and marketplace and finish out in the warehouse. So wear good walking shoes. If you go often enough, you'll figure out store pattern and shortcuts. Go during off peak hours to avoid crowds. See ya there! read more

Finally went to IKEA for the first time today. There are some great values in the store. I 100% recommend anyone renting, college student, first time homebuyer, single person or young couple to check it out. Very modern styles and also some great options for a redo of a bathroom, kitchen or bedroom. If you can get the pronunciation correct, you can teach yourself some Swedish by the time you walk through the store. We loved the Swedish market and picked up some tasty treats from there, and a fabulous large wok with nonstick surface for $9.99! There are dozens of their accent pieces I could see buying and kitchen or bathroom accessories. No furniture this time for us, but we will be back. read more

I actually held off writing a review until after the grand opening chaos. Because- it was chaos. I have been before and after Christmas and completely enjoyed myself. Whether I am flying solo or with hubby~ no worries. Floor plan in Ikea is always a bit torturous- I feel bad for those trying to figure out how to go back to find something they liked but didn't pick up. There are shortcuts~ if you know where you want to go. Cafe seating is not a big as I would think it should be, but I luckily haven't been when they are maxed out. I didn't encounter much staff on the floor- but the cafe staff and the cashiers were all friendly. I will say if you plan to get food~ they haven't been the fastest.... yet. I hope that improves with time. Time will tell. That goes for both the main cafe and the little snack bar at the front of the store. You will wait in a line. I am glad there is an IKEA in Jacksonville, Florida. I found what I needed at IKEA. But when I saw Two cash register open 1st with an actual cashier and the 2nd had several self registers available. But both lines had about 8 to 10 shoppers lined up. But there is about 10 to 12 unopened cash registers not being utilized. Dont get me wrong, I love Ikea and am more than willing to up their rating once they get their staffing organized. The first 2 times we came here there were zillions of parking lot attendants but only 1, YES JUST ONE, uno, only 1 person working in the cafeteria check out lane. Humm... I believe at our first visit they had 22 people working in the parking lot. Second visit there were less parking lot attendants but still only 1 person ringing up orders in the cafe. I am very impressed with what they can do with space and products for a house but it's like going through a rat museum while you follow the trail. Let me start off by saying that I Love IKEA. I could spend hours just walking around getting ideas for my home. They have so many great displays to look at and so many wonderful items to choose from. The restaurant is fantastic as well. We took a few minutes for lunch and we both had the meatballs with mashed potatoes and green beans. We even received a discount on our meal because we are both IKEA Family members. The coffee in the restaurant is fantastic. I asked them if they sold it in the store and they said yes. I had tried to find out previously which one it was but no one knew at that time. This time they did what they could to find out which one it was. I was able to find it and purchased some. Wowza, was opening week crazy! I don't think this Ikea has enough parking spots for when the crowd does die down. This is a much better option for those of us who live too far to make the drive to Atlanta but still don't mind making the drive. This Ikea is only 1 story. The restaurant is in the "middle" of you were to walk the entire showroom. Very smart if you ask me! I usually get hungry so instead of rushing to finish, I can just eat, take a break and then continue! They did have some things they sold out of - I'm not surprised - but in the future I think things will be much smoother.
