My family just loves IKEA on Gate Parkway. We get a kick out of just walking around there some days. Best to go there later in the evenings or on weekdays to avoid the crowds. Join their Club for extra savings. We usually snag something good from the Clearance Room near the Checkout. Lots cheaper and usually already put together! I am not a handy guy! We always seem to find something that you absolutely have to have in the house. The food in their Cafeteria is good and cheap; though like the Swedes, kind of plain and straight forward. IKEA is great and I'm so glad to finally have one in the area. They have so many things, every time I go I can find something new that I just have to have. I really like the style and the modern/unique touch a lot of their items have. I would say about 50% of my apartment consists of IKEA furniture and decor. This place is huge so you should come prepared to walk. There is a very large showroom area where they have their furniture and decor assembled in ways that allow you to visualize it in a home or apartment. It's really neat, it's almost like you're just walking around into and out of a lot of small houses or apartments. After you get through the huge showroom you'll make it to the cafeteria. I love the food here, and it's a great value. I love the Swedish meatballs but I think the vegetable medallions are my favorite! Also, if you haven't tried the lingonberry drink, you must! It's delicious and I am honestly kind of addicted to it. They offer it for $1 at the fountain soda machine. After the cafeteria is the Marketplace. This is where you will find a lot of the items displayed throughout the Showroom. I could wander around here for hours and hours and buy hundreds of dollars worth of things. Once you walk through the Marketplace you will arrive at the self-serve furniture area. This is a big warehouse-like room where you track down those bigger items you want to take home. After this you will reach the check outs! They have a place where you can back your car up and load your heavy stuff, so no sweat on walking your items all the way across their huge parking lot. There is a 15 minute time limit for this parking area. Weekday evenings are the best time to go because there's no crowd and parking is a total breeze. Do yourself a favor and stop by the Deli near the exit and grab a cinnamon roll on your way out, your tummy will thank you!! IKEA remains one of my favorite places to buy furniture and decor, eat lunch/dinner or just kill a couple of hours and check out what new stuff they currently have to offer! read more

I was in the store the other day. I had been to The St. Johns Town Center many times and when I was in DSW I asked another customer how to get to IKEA. I had not gone far enough on the E 295, formerly 9A. I found it immediately. Huge. Lucky for me I brought my rollater. Walk and sit. Had I not had that I would have had to turn back in the 2nd room. This is my preferred brand for its variety of products and value for money. When they opened this store in Jacksonville I was more than happy, I even woke up at 6 am to arrive early for the opening. We lived in Europe for many years and when we moved to this city we regretted that they did not have an IKEA store, so whenever we visited Orlando, Tampa or Miami going to IKEA was part of the plan. But after almost 3 years I have to say that it is no longer so pleasant to go. The store is poorly organized, they no longer have such a variety of products, even regular items such as wooden lids for glass's containers are in short supply. Their spaces are decorated with little love, they look dirty and disorganized. Although they have several checkouts, they usually operate 2 or 3 cashiers no matter how long the line of people waiting to pay for their purchase is. And this is problematic when you visit the store with children or elderly people, taking into account that it will take a minimum of 30 minutes walking to go through the entire establishment and when you want to pay for your purchase you will have to stand for at least 15 more minutes. I have to add that the customer services staff is very young and with zero knowledge of the essential rules of customer care and the company's return policies. On my last visit to the store I needed to return a rug and after waiting 15 minutes a girl attended to me who needed to consult with 4 of her colleagues if she could accept the return or not. The first man told her that it was the company's policy to receive the merchandise if it was in good condition and the year of purchase had not yet passed, but despite this explanation, she seemed not very pleased and consulted with three more people and in the end I had to return to my house with a rug that I do not want due to its poor quality, just because I did not have the plastic bag where it is stored ??? Please, it's a rug!! Who keeps the plastic bag where a rug comes if to test it before you must break it? I must clarify that the carpet has its labels and barcodes in perfect condition, so scanning and identifying the product was easy for her. She may have been frustrated by my bad English or because her youth and lack of empathy did not allow her to see beyond her glasses, but the staff of any customer services must be friendly and understandable. The store loses more with a dissatisfied customer than by returning $50 in a gift card, which will also be used in the store itself. Not to mention that behind me the line was growing due to the 20 minutes that I had to wait because she would make a decision, she also made the other employee leave her customers on hold just because she doubted the response of her colleague. This caused the couple's baby who was being cared for by the other employee to start crying due to the time we had been there. All that chaos and not a single supervisor in sight. My recommendation for IKEA managers is that they take more care of the image of the only store they have in this city in economic and population growth. It would be good for your business if you take into account that we are the 7th largest city in the USA, where thousands of European immigrants, university students and people who are beginning to know the brand live. In addition, IKEA still do not have a furniture store that competes with them due to their low prices, they should take advantage of this advantage.. read more

What is one of my favorite things about Ikea? Well other than their furniture and goods...I have to talk about their FOOD! I love their budget friendly meals. I mean...where else can you get a great simple meal for under $15? My favorite are their Swedish meatballs and Vegetable meatballs. Their Swedish meatballs comes up a side of mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables and their gravy with their special berry sauce. Their vegetable meatballs came with a side of rice and quinoa and I opted for mac and cheese rather than the healthier steamed vegetables. This girl loves her carbs! I also loved their broccoli and cheddar soup. Their meals fill you up and you will burn those calories through the maze called Ikea...a maze of wonderful home products, decor and more. Sadly I have to travel to visit an Ikea. But the good thing is the JAX has some really good food so a visit to Ikea was a fun weekend. We came in before they opened and had breakfast. I know what you thinking - why would you eat at Ikea. In addition to great prices for their food it is actually very good. I got the the breakfast with eggs and bacon and also the smoked Salmon with wheat wafers. The smoked salmon with cream cheese on the wheat wafers was perfect. Unfortunately I had to share this delicious treat. After breakfast we hit the sales floor and without even trying had a cart full of new can't live without items. So much fun cool stuff! The store is well organized and with the addition of a very good App finding your must have items is super easy. Checkout looks like it will be long but they get you checked out quickly. The staff is helpful and friendly but the sales floor staff can be scarce at times. After checking out we heading over to the food section where they sell some of the treats from the cafeteria. We just love the meatballs so no visit to Ikea is complete until a least one pack is going home with us. They also sell a packet of the gravy they have which is also a must buy. The Jacksonville IKEA Is one of the worst stores in the Florida region. Had to drive almost 3hrs for some items. Paid online for the pickup. Normally they're supposed to bring and help load your items into your vehicle. Sadly this did not happen. The older age worker with mustache inside was lazy and very incompetent. And frankly didn't help with anything. The only one person that helped was a younger worker at the end. He seemed stretched out all over. Reason why he was only one out there. I love Ikea! I've been to four different locations now and unfortunately this one's my least favorite but it's still great. The Jax store is one of the few that doesn't have two floors so it's all one level and it's like a long maze. lol! I have to say I'm a little disappointed with the customer service here when I asked an employee to help me in the warehouse area they were as minimally helpful as possible without being rude... also one time they gave me completely incorrect information but I'm sure that it's just a training issue. My only problem was the lady who helped me in the kitchen area to design and put it together was not very helpful she kept telling me I could not do this have this, design things the way I wanted she was very rushed and rude. I HIGHLY suggest making an appointment with a sit down in a private space designer and have then help you design your kitchen layout etc. I would even go a second time and make sure you get a different designer to help you. I can understand a long hold time once. Maybe a couple of customer service reps. didn't show up, and the average wait time on hold spiked as a result. But, this was four different times over 3 weeks. Originally had an issue with an online order and Issued a refund. Placed an order for store pick up for the same product I originally had ordered online and once I arrived at the IKEA Jacksonville I was surprised to see that they do not offer curbside pick up. They used to have curbside but stopped providing that service. Did IKEA Jacksonville forget that we are still under a Covid-19 pandemic?!. The store now only offers "click & collect" which makes you go inside the store to pick up order. What if you are avoiding going into crowded stores? I'm an IKEA avid shopper since my SoCal (Burbank & Carson) living & shopping days - can't go wrong with IKEA! This IKEA is unique in that it is one story - showroom, Cafe, and quick bites. The less hassle of having to get your cart to the second floor is actually efficient - how many times did you try to take your cart from the 1st to 2nd floor while trying to maneuver through the elevator crowds? Horizontal configuration isn't bad. I've always been a fan of the "one piece flow" system that IKEA mimics - all about that "LEAN" layout like Toyota and Lean Manufacturers aim at. It allows for easy flow and logistics - lots of planning goes into this flow concept. Try not to go the opposite way of the path flow or you'll be causing traffic disruptions. Furniture is always appealing to the eye and simplistic - also good for the pocket versus the other big name furniture chains. Find what you like, note it on the ikea note pad with pencils they provide, and pick up in the warehouse area. Come during non-peak hours such as a weekday and earlier in the day or late in the evening to avoid the congestion and crowds. They're still efficient at the Jax location and even at the registers. Buy yourself those large IKEA totes so you can place your small purchases in them as IKEA does not provide plastic bags - minimization of waste is part of their business model. read more

I attended the Sunday mega event because I wanted to find out if IKEA was just hype or a reality. Although it was a Sunday before noon the parking lot had many cars. I thought going before the church crowd would ease congestion but it didn't. I received an email for a 1.48 breakfast so I planned to take advantage of that. It did not happen because I could not find the cafeteria. I should have been smart and followed the family ahead of me with four children because when I finally arrived at the cafeteria it was lunch time and they were already seated and eating. So I stood in line similar to attending Disney but the food was okay. As a Yelper, I cannot describe the food in my usual manner because this was a cafeteria in a big box store okay! I chose their veggie balls with curry sauce and I received a free coffee because I am a member of the Ikea family Network. The food was decent for $5 what can I say. By the time I finished my meal it appeared as if hundreds of people were in line to eat that okay food. It took me another 15 minutes to get back to checking out Furnishings, storage, odds and ends, and I enjoyed the marketplace. For any old person venturing out to Ikea follow the white arrows on the floor.!. That way you will avoid spending time circling around because you're lost. I gave Ikea four stars because this was a pleasant Adventure. I saw many items that I can use in the future. I bought items that I could not find anywhere else for a reasonable price. Their sales people who wear the bright yellow jackets were pleasant. The checkout line was long. Hurray! We finally got an Ikea in Jacksonville! Never knew what the hype was about until I set foot in one myself. This is a different way of presenting furnitures and home products to the consumer. It's like visually providing the solutions to the everyday conundrums of maximizing the space of your home. They make you say "why didn't I think of that?" every time you see a unique product. Love the displays, but I still need to get used to navigating around this giant maze. I wish they have an actual map showing "you are here." The cafeteria was brilliant. I used to be a fan but The novelty has worn off. The furniture is cheaply made and the pieces we purchased a few years ago for my son's room did not last. I won't buy IKEA furniture again. Kitchen items feel wimpy and cheep. For years I still went to buy pillows - IKEA used to have amazing down pillows for an incredible price. I still have one purchased longer ago than I like to admit; it's stayed fluffy and comfortable for many years. Went back for more pillows last fall - the line up had changed and price was a a bit higher , but I still came home with two down pillows in the $30 range that I'm very happy with. No more. By My last visit A month ago, that had all changed. No standard size pillows at all (queen or king only) , all pillows cheaply made , terrible quality. While they still have a couple of down versions, they are as expensive as anywhere else, ($70 for a queen sized) and not worth the trip to IKEA. Service here has always been crummy. Employees uninformed, bordering on rude; despite all the happy Swedish philosophy and cute Swedish decor, this company does not seem to invest in customer service training and employees don't appear to like their jobs! My first visit to the Jacksonville location, went there to check out some of the furniture, get a Swedish language lesson, and lunch. I enjoyed the experience, honestly, I liked the layout of the Orlando store better. The basics are still the same, one can wander through the showrooms getting ideas and after the cafeteria, you can grab a cart and purchase the items. I recommend bringing a tape measure and taking notes of exactly what it is you want including all the parts required as much of the furniture requires more than one box to retrieve and it can be quite a walk back to where the original set up is. Keep in mind that the furniture is mostly particle board. Once you set it up and put it in place I would not recommend moving it, the joints will loosen and particle board isn't very flexible meaning it will break if flexed very much. If you see anything that is solid wood or metal that would be the best bet. There are two dining options, fast food at the entrance (hot dogs for 0.75), and a cafeteria in between the showrooms and dining area. I tried the pulled pork sandwich and fries for $3.99. It was a pretty decent size and tasted like you would expect a cafeteria bbq sandwich to taste, it wasn't bad though. I will be back, I recommend some serious furniture shopping when it's not a peak time. read more

I have never been to Ikea before and I'm glad that I got to experience the beatifulness in my hometown. When I walked in, I immediately fell in love with the designs and decorations. This place is like a maze; you move from one room to another and work your way through the building. Although this place is brand new, expect it to be crowded. However, the line is moving fast. Parking isn't that difficult. There are people that will guide you, so you will never get lost. The prices are relatively cheap and affordable in my opinion. YAYYYY IKEA is finally in Jax... But wait, this IKEA is not like the others. First off, there is only ONE story here and it seems that while its easier to walk the floor without having to go up the stairs/elevator; it sucks because ALL of the traffic is on one floor. And you have to find and learn the shortcuts to get to the self serve area. Other than that, it's a great place to get ideas, and those little organizational tidbits that you can only get at IKEA. Because of the single floor layout, the restaurant seems like a crowded afterthought. Is it worth the drive from Charleston compared to the one in Charlotte, almost the same distance? Their food is also very well priced and according to the posters they put a lot of effort into sustainable foods and reduced food waste. Ikea is definitely a big deal to have here in Jacksonville. I have checked out the new store a few times and love that it is one floor, unlike our next closest one in Orlando which has two floors to maneuver. The new store is beautiful and with ample parking it is fairly easy now to get into regardless of the crowds. Personally I do not understand the hype or the big deal the media made out of getting this store open in Jacksonville. Although I have to agree it is a good place to get home accessories and furnishings at a reasonable price. I would suggest you scope out what you are interested in looking at online perhaps before visiting the store and to go in with a mission. The lit arrows on the floor will guide you through the maze and there are even shortcuts to bypass some of the twists and turns to get to your desired department more quickly. What you do not want to do is backtrack and swim like a salmon upstream through the crowds to go back and look for something you missed. When you go in the entrance there is a little bistro to the right and a grocery area stocked with Swedish favorites and the only place you can pop in and grab a few things without making a day of shopping. These items are inexpensive, some unique, and all fun to try. If you start out with shopping through the showroom you will notice there are no shopping baskets here. You can pick up a bright yellow bag for little items to carry, but most of the furnishings in this area are designed to check out the options and write down the details then pick up the parts in the warehouse at the end. Though typically not a fan of fabricated, particle board furniture, some items such as the wardrobe solutions are creative and worth the purchase. I have heard that a true test of a relationship is the ability to put together Ikea furniture and still get along though the process. I am happy to report that my husband still loves me, though we did have a few bumps assembling our Ikea purchases. If you are not confident in your handyman skills, or your friendship, just pay the extra and have the professionals assemble and install any major furnishings you purchase. Once you arrive at the cafeteria you will find carts to continue your journey or stop and have lunch. The meatballs come highly recommended but I personally was not as impressed as I felt like I should have been. The prepared cold salads and sandwiches looked just okay, but we did not pass up the dames cake, which was chocolate layers with a cracker like torte and toffee chips. If you get the free Ikea family membership you can get a cup of hot tea or coffee at the cafeteria and this was my favorite part of the meal. Not only is the coffee actually really good, but you can get espresso, cappuccino or latte that is surprisingly rich and flavorful. The second part of the store is actually the best place to find all kinds of kitchen and other household gadgets at great prices. They have such great creative solutions for storage and organization. At our most recent visit, we got though the store during the lunch hour in record pace, but we came to a screeching halt at the check out lines. With only 4 lanes open, the wait was about 30 minutes to get our purchases out the door. We considered giving up but knew we would never be able to find our treasures if we tried to come back another time. So we waited, and I am happy with the items I bought, but have to say the long line may just be a marketing technique because I purchased just as many items while waiting in line, most regrettable those decadent chocolate bars I thought I would share, but ultimately consumed all by myself. read more

My very first time at Ikea and it was a very different experience than I was expecting. I figured on wandering around for 15-20 minutes and then leaving. However, the way they have it set up, I was there for almost 2 hours. Ikea is not just cheap assemble it yourself furniture, but a whole house design. They had rooms set up with everything in it from Ikea and it looked very livable. I was very surprised that they had a food court inside also.
