I'm surprised to see the negative reviews here, as my experience was a very positive one. My spouse and I went in to find a sofa due to the supply chain issues causing months-long delivery delays from most new furniture places (La-Z-Boy told us six months!). The staff here was friendly but not pushy while we browsed, and we found the store easy to navigate. Everything we saw appeared to be in good condition and made by quality brands. We settled on a sofa that met our needs, and an employee happily helped us to measure it, even providing a measuring tape. They were having issues with their registers when we went to pay, but as someone who works with computers, I can't fault them for that. They worked hard to get them fixed and process our payment, and they handled arranging a delivery -- even working as the intermediary when we needed to change some of the delivery arrangements. read more

I LOVE this store. I have purchased so many items for my home: rugs, entertainment center, bar stools, wall decor, lamps. The staff is always friendly and welcoming and the quality of the furniture is wonderful - at great prices! We looked for a dining room table and chairs and a kitchen table and chairs and were able to find and buy them at the same time at a cost of about half that we were willing to pay just for the dining set. The quality of the furniture was great and we did not have to wait up to 14 weeks as stated by the new furniture store. Even the delivery which was set up by Clearing house was fine. It is wise to check out the Clearing House before buying furniture. We will. read more

Just awful!! One star is extremely generous!! I had stopped coming here once before, but against my better judgment I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and give the place another chase. I have spent thousands of dollars at this place, but I can ensure you they will NEVER get another dime from me. They are not warm and friendly people to begin with, but I think it's just downright rude and inconsiderate to close registers before the posted hours. They even go as far as to shut off lights before the closing time, which shows a lack of respect for my time. Honestly, I would like nothing more than to see this place go out of business for good. I would not feel any sympathy for anyone losing their job or income, because they have shown time and time again that they are not earning it. Whoever owns this place needs to either run the business or get out of business. I would urge anyone seeking to consign to go else where. These are many other places in Jacksonville more deserving of your partnership and understand there is no business without the customers. There folks working here are turning off the customers big time. If you have put items up for sale with this place and they haven't sold, there is a good chance the attitudes of the staff contributed to that. This establishment gives the impression of being very successful. We have taken furniture, paintings, and lamps for them to sell. All sold very quickly because, in my opinion they priced our items very low. So, if you are a buyer, you may be in luck. However, if you are selling, be prepared not to net much. Also, if your merchandise sells the 2nd of month, you have to wait till 1st of next month to receive your check. Employees seem very nice, but need to call the owner about everything. We were told additional furniture was approved a few months ago; booked mover, only to find out the day before that the owner would not take any of it. Supposedly, they were full and did not have room. Needless to say, I do not recommend doing business with Clearinghouse, Jacksonville. JB read more

The Clearing House is our place to shop. We love it. We're treated well, the furniture and decor is well above average and the prices are competitive. Our house is literally full of nice things we have bought from there. I cannot think of a time that my wife and I will not shop there. Just remember that new stuff is not always "high end" stuff. You have an opportunity to get some well treated but really high quality things at great prices. read more

If I could give this business a ZERO stars rating I would: my husband and I shopped and found a leather desk chair with casters, ideal for our needs. We went up to purchase it and were told that they had closed down the register so we would have to come back the next day. "Don't worry, we will pull the tag and hold it for you." Both ladies reassured us. When we returned the next day, the chair had been sold. Someone else wanted it I guess and as this store obviously has no ethical standards, they sold it to them. I purchased a headboard from this company when I went to pick it up, it was clearly a footboard. I was forced to accept the item that was not what I purchased. Their excuse was the person who consigned the item "told" them it was a headboard. I wanted to purchase something else,but was advised that the only choice I had was to "reconsign" the item so they cod get another commission, or sell it on facebook marketplace. This place was not what I expected. It is a consignment store and not a thrift store by any means. The set up inside looks like a furniture store with all of these items for sale staged beautifully and so fitting right into your home. Most of the furniture is on consignment but in great condition while some of it is brand new. There are various prices posted on the furniture with dates showing that the price will drop over time. Don't go there looking for insanely cheap items, however, you can get things that excellent condition for fraction of the price. If I was setting up a home and wanted nearly new items but didn't want to pay the price I would definitely go here. This is not where you go to get a used futon for a frat house. read more

It sucks to travel all the way to a store before their posted closing time only to be told the registers have already been closed. This is simply poor service!! We arrived and were in the store a full 10 minutes before the posted closing time. I saw a beautiful piece through the window I wanted to purchase, but forget about it now. I can scan that entire store in 5 minutes and find some things to buy. You are NOT open until 6pm if the customer doesn't even have an option to purchase. I also need to sell a few items, but I would not consign with a store that is turning potential customers away. We have purchased many items from this store, including a entire bedroom set, among several other items. You just lost us as customers. Shame on you, Clearing House!! read more

I purchased a lovely desk from this store in the past and a few other items. But it has changed - I'm not sure if it's under new management. It depends on who's there when you go in. If it's an older woman or gentleman, you may be able to work out a deal and get good customer service. If it's a middle aged woman, good luck. We were interested in buying a bedroom set but didn't need every piece. The older gentleman said they could call the owners and see if they'd be willing to break up the set. Then a middle aged woman came over and said that we'd have to buy the whole set & then consign the pieces we don't want with them. That is ludicrous! She said this is their process. I know from past experience, that is untrue. At that point, I decided I wouldn't patron this store anymore. And it's a shame because I was a happy customer in the past. read more

I went to the Clearing House after talking to someone decent to try to consign a really nice piece of furniture. They told me to bring it in so I did. It was heavy and I got it into my little car. When I went into the store, walked all the way up to the counter where 2 ladies were standing there talking, they stopped and gave me a dirty look like I was asking them for change. She asked, "Can I help you with something?" I told her my story. She then gave me a sour look and turned to the other lady and said, "You deal with this." That other lady took a quick look at my furniture and said they're not gonna sell it. It was a beautiful mother of pearl Chinese room divider that I had paid at least $400 for and in good condition. When I talked to them on the phone, they acted like they were interested in it. My furniture was standing up in the store after a nice gentleman helped me get it in and then the ladies wasted no time in telling me that it needs to be out of her store asap. They were so rude. I wish I can describe the tone these old broads used with me. They treated me like a child. Seriously, who the f do they think they are? I was basically pushed out of the store. The guy took the furniture out and left it in front of the store, not in the doorway or anything. A few minutes later, one of the ladies came out and scolded him for letting it linger in the way of business. Are you serious? You can't just toss it in the car from the damn doorway. I was sooooo furioused. I will never go back there again or recommend anyone trying to do business with those people either. It is a rip off. Just craigslist you things from now on. read more

This was below even 1 star in my opinion :-((( If you have furniture or household items to consign......take them ANYWHERE but DO NOT take your items to Clearing House!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have never been treated so badly in my life! Their owner is rude, arrogant, accusatory, condescending, disrespectful and offensive. No customer service here. They damaged our furniture and blamed us for the damage. It went downhill from there and when I told him I was sure that we could come to a mutual agreement about what to do, he quickly told me that wasn't going to happen. Unbelievable!!! With all the consignment shops in Jax, there is no reason to ever do business with these people again. Take my advice and take your items to someone who will appreciate your business, respect you and take some pride and care in handling items that don't belong to them!!! Don't know how they have managed to stay in business with this kind of management!!!! After driving by numerous times, I decided to stop here and give it a try. I slowly walked through every section of the store and not one person spoke. At one point a male employee even stood directly in front of me then turned and walked away. I was wearing decent clothing and makeup and in need of a new sofa and desk. I'm astounded at the rudeness and snobbery of this common place furniture store. Three men were having a business pow wow and neither of them spoke either. I used to work as a Designer in a Showroom in Memphis, and I can assure you this was the most condescending group of people I've ever seen. No wonder the store remains empty of shoppers. read more

I placed a nice Hooker Desk w/hutch at the CH. It was priced at $1,299. When I moved the contract was misplaced. I found it and read that I was 17 days late picking up the Desk w/hutch that did not sell. When I called CH the manager, Theresa, explained that it was now CH's property per the contract and that it's their policy not to make exceptions. CH does NOT send email remainders or make calls after the deadline. They simply keep your property. This is a slimey business practice and likely how they make their money....by keeping your stuff!!! My wife and I had a really bad experience with the Clearinghouse. We left 2 pieces of furniture there to be sold on consignment. The term was for 3 months. They took one of the pieces off of the floor 1 month early and stored it in a garage. No explanation was provided. The other piece was a lovely wood bar....and when we went to check on it, we noticed a huge 10" long scratch on the top. The Clearinghouse staff had put something on top of the bar as decoration and it had scratched the surface. They refused to accept responsibility for their actions and would not even apologize for what happened. All they said was 'check the consignment contract...we are not responsible for anything'. There are plenty of consignment furniture stores in town and I would highly recommend that you go somewhere other than the Clearinghouse. The manager Theresa has no business running the store. read more
