My grandparents use to take me because they would love to watch the planes take off and land while they ate! They felt like they where off to a different destination each and every time a plan took off. My favorite meal are the Swedish meatballs with extra Lindenberry sauce on the side! The food seems consistent with other IKEAs I've been to. This specific restaurant seems to always be busy and has longer lines than others. Seating is also harder to come by even at off-lunch hours. Just like the furniture: cheap and decent, sometimes stylish, sometimes not so great. I am convinced there is a secret plot to make people happy and buy more, by giving them really decent coffee halfway through the store. Better than I've gotten from slot of breakfast places, endless refills, and you now get a free cup per visit if you sign up for the Ikea Family rewards card. As per this location, it is nice at night with t he lights of the highway and airport out the windows. However, like most of the Elizabeth location, the ceilings are too low making the place feel cramped with too many people. Food is great! The meatballs were amazing and the combination with the cranberry sauce is pretty good. Every item menu is cheap, so with just 5$ you can have some really delicious food. If you like chocolate cakes but you don't want it to be so sweet and full of sugar, well... The chocolate cake that they have here is AMAZING! It's one of the beat cakes I've ever tried in my life and I'm a huge fan of chocolate. BTW, there is free coffee if you feel like having your chocolate cake with it. read more

The food here is cute and cheap. I ordered the swedish meatballs because that seemed like the thing to order! It came with mashed potatoes and lingonberry sauce (which was very delicious as well). I also ordered pear cider which was good. One of the highlights (IMO) about Ikea food is how cheap it is, which is certainly appreciated. The 'restaurant' is closer to a cafeteria, where you actually grab a tray and slide it along a table while you wait for a worker to serve you. Every time we come here the children's ball pit is closed. We usually come here once a week to get the kids out of the house and they tell us every single time that it's closed because they are washing the balls (yes seriously,lol) The people who are at the daycare are not the friendliest bunch either. Also cafeteria is filthy, last time we were there flies were everywhere!! Completely lost my appetite.People who work cafeteria are miserable and rude. Horrible!! IKEA - take a course in logistics!! My parents and I made a trip to the Elizabeth IKEA to pick out a new sofa for my house. We looked forward to the promising Swedish experience of walking through a wonderland of well appointed displays and deliberating between all the cute modern sofa designs. Sure enough we picked out a stylish leather sofa and a bunch of household goods they dangle in front of you as you walk to the checkout. That's when IKEA started ruining our Father's Day. We had told a floor associate at the living room section that we were interested in home delivery. She informed us that we could sign up for it after checkout. At checkout we paid for the sofa and our goods and informed the cashier that we'd like to apply for home delivery. She directed us to the "home delivery" department at the far end of the floor. We approached the desk and noticed other people rolling boxes toward the line. I asked if we needed to pick up our furniture before we got processed for home delivery. The associate told me yes so we walked across to the "furniture pickup" area. There we waited for almost 2 hours for our number to be called as they pulled the boxed components of our sofa. It was mind-numbing. Finally when they rolled out our 2 giant boxes we had to roll them back to the "home delivery" line to basically GIVE THEM BACK TO IKEA. We waited another 45 minutes when I guess they finally realized that 1 person at the register was not enough and 2 other associates from the aimless surplus of associates walking around decided to open up a few other registers. When we finally thought we could breathe a sigh of relief we were told after 3 HOURS OF WAITING AND 3 STAGES OF PROCESSING that they could not deliver to Ewing, NJ. I asked where COULD they deliver to? The associate was vague and mumbled "central NJ like Princeton" which happens to be right next to Ewing and where I work. The lady told me she could return my sofa and then order it online to deliver it which basically made our trip to the store (which is not close) completely useless. Fed up with the catastrophic logistical, and communication, and customer service FAILURE and 3 hours of waiting my mom started to point out the amount of time they had taken from us. The group of associates immediately got defensive and threatened to call security on my tired 5'3" mom. We decided to return everything we bought. We rolled our giant boxes to the "returns" department. We were wrong to think they couldn't mess up any further. By the time they rung up our refund it was short several items. So we waited yet again for them to rummage through our cart and read line-by-line through the receipts to figure out what they had missed. After such a horrible experience and treatment we were glad we did not give any money to IKEA that day. We would rather spend more money locally on better furniture and a better run operation. read more

Stay away from this store. The only reason I went was because Paramus was closed but never again. I never had a bad experience with ikea until I went to this store. Customer service is horrible. When I was waiting to pick up my item, I realized that the gray bed I thought I got was actually white. I went to speak with someone. Apparently the gray and white bed had the same number and it was their fault. Their solution was to wait for the wrong item to be ready and head to the exchange/return and fix their mistake there. It took an hr just for the wrong item to be ready. Went to the exchange and they returned and exchanged it and we were told the item will be expedited so it will be out quick. We sat there for another hour. The store was closing in 30 mins. The store closes at 8 we got to ikea at 430. When our item finally arrived we gave the receipt to the person n told them it was a return that's why the number might not match. We were given a number by the person who returned it. They said this isn't your item. The person who exchanged it was passing by n looked at us and said you are still here. And it took another 20 mins to fix the mistake. Their mistake. As we waiting for our items we began to notice every time someone received their purchase it was wrong. And they had been waiting there for a while as well. Horrible customer service. You saw the workers hanging out and chatting while there was one person on the computer working. Stay away from this store. I do not recommend. read more

This location is by far the worst of it comes to customer service. My items were delivered damaged and I've tried to schedule replacement delivery 4 times so for, each time over 2 hours on hold to even speak to someone. I'm waiti for delivery fourth weekend in the row stick at Home. There is just something so nostalgic of eating at Ikea. Ikea opened up in North Jersey (where I was born and raised) while I was a kid. I remember fondly days of wandering and playing in Ikea while my parents shopped for random home things. The food court has always been a favorite place. Who can resist those meatballs and mashed potatoes? Recently, they've increased their prices a bit...I think they added some more meatballs and added a side of veggies (differs every time I go) but I still think its worth the $6 or whatever. You can always eat cheap at Ikea. Also, join their Ikea family program (for free!) and get a free mug for coffee every time you visit the food court. First, they weren't serving salmon today so one of my shopping companions ended up not eating. No explanation, just a bark of "No salmon today." Odd. OK I'll admit that I feel strange giving them 5 stars but I have evidence and reasons that support my claim. Swedish meatballs are to die for. The couple ahead of me got 4 servings of them. The extra buffet that accompanied the breakfast had some yummy breakfast items like corn bread, cinnamon buns and a yummy veggie patty. Then for dessert the apple pie, chocolate cake and marzipan cream cake all looked authentic and devine. To top it off there is a wonderful view of the airplanes landing and taking off. One of my favorite places to grab a quick bite because the meals are always so cheap and fresh! The restaurant is designed canteen style. You get in line and you can pick up some desserts and then you reach the hot foods. You tell the staff what you want and they scoop it for you and give you your plate. After becoming a vegetarian, I was super sad that I couldn't eat the swedish meatballs anymore because they were always my favorite things. I decided to try out the veggie ball option. It was absolutely delicious. The meal came with 8 veggie balls, steamed vegetables, and a vegetable stew. It was such a large portion and very filling. My only complaint was that the veggie balls were a little bit dry but if you eat it with the vegetable stew it was wonderful. I also got the apple pie and it was great as well. The filling was sweet and cinnamony and the crust was crunchy and crumbly. I was eating here with a friend and we got all this food for under $20! What a steal! Horrible service! The slowest service ever, and they know it but didn't care. The dead eyes of each employee behind the counter says poor management, as they doled out food wordlessly. The pie guy took FOREVER to first notice that the pie case was empty, then to go and fill it up. I swear, everyone in line watched him as he loaded the case so slooowly. The guy next to me had to ask him for a piece because he was moving so slow. It felt like I was in the DMV! To be fair, the big guy serving our line was trying his best, but it seemed like everyone else is in slow motion. The other line had 3 people for some reason... There were flies buzzing around, trying desperately to get a piece of our lunch. They ran out of trays, ribs, cheesecake and apple pie and we waited on line for a long time! I bought 2 small chairs that requires gong to the pickup area. After waiting more than an hour, I couldn't get an estimate for how much longer it would take nor was I able to speak to a manager. Essentially, this particular area of the store needs attention to streamline whatever their process is and to give customers an idea as to the wait.
