Wonderful meal and service at this IHOP! Jordan, our server was friendly and attentive and recommended a delicious Poblano Omelette that was absolutely amazing! Stopped at the Watertown location ( The old Ponderosa) as we were traveling back to the North Country from the Rochester area. It was a Sunday morning and the place was quite busy. We were greeted with a short wait, seated, and our order taken rather quickly considering how full the restaurant was. Our waitress Angela was friendly and efficient. I love the fact they leave a carafe of coffee so you never run dry! Our food arrived an the Ultimate Waffle Stack was very good the waffles had just enough sweet to balance the applewood smoked bacon and aged cheddar. IHOP over pancakes to get to waffles so this did not disappoint. In and out in less than an hour on a Sunday morning made me quite happy. The one thing I will say about chain restaurants is their formula to move the masses works! If you want a decent breakfast and are limited for time don't let a full parking lot detour you. read more

You have got to be kidding me! My kids were looking forward to eating here because we don't come to Watertown often anymore and they had promotional items they thought looked fun. Place was dead on a Monday evening, maybe 3 tables occupied. Took 10 minutes to get seated. Half an hour later, still have not talked to a server to place our order. Another family comes in, gets seated instantly and the server appears as if by magic to take their order. We left and went next door to Sonic. No one even tried to talk us out of leaving. Seating seems to be about 25% capacity while other restaurants are easily at 50%. Was told it'd be 15-20 minute wait. 45 minutes later I got a table in a nearly empty restaurant. My kids apple juice seemed like it was all syrup and no water. My coffee wasn't ever refilled nor did the waiter ever come back to ask if we needed anything else. We got 2 of the 3 meals in a timely manner. We were within 2-3 bites of being complete before 3rd meal finally arrived. He dropped it off and ran away. Never asking if we needed anything else. Terrible service, long waits, and cold food. I got to IHOP at 10:30am and was seated shortly after that. We ordered some pancakes and sausage for the kids, blueberry pancakes for the teenager, waffle for the wife, and a southwest scramble for myself. Our waitress sounded very sarcastic and judgmental of our food choices and checked in only to bring our drinks. 45 mins later we get our food. The waffle was burnt bust too cold to melt the butter sitting on top of it. My southwest scramble was also cold. The "salsa" on top had chunks of tomato larger then my potatoes. My coffee cup remained empty until I asked for a manager and was cashing out. All of this and they're only at 50% seating capacity. I would hate to see this place at 100% capacity. Made my first trip to Ihop today and it will most likely be the last. It was 2:30pm, the restaurant had maybe five tables seated total. The hostess apologized for our wait to be seated stating they were under staffed. We noticed 8-10 tables that had not been cleared off yet. Upon leaving 45 minutes later those same tables STILL needed to be cleared off and wiped down, yet two of the four workers on the floor had plenty of time to stand at the podium and complain that they had been there since 7:00am. I would put less stars if I could. This place is either understaffed or incapable of serving guestts of any number. We waited for approximately 15 mins before our order was taken and then had to wait another 30-40 mins before we received our food. So after nearly an hour, I was asked for a refill on my drink. Now on to the food.... complete items were missing and foods were cold. Specifically the fries and burger were Luke warm at best which doesn't seem good. They are a polite wait staff and not rude but service was bad just due to being slow. Nearly 15-20 mins after food was delivered we have not been checked on or given our checks. Horrible service. Clearly understaffed & don't care. I politely requested a booth when I put our family on the list. I have small kids I like to put on the inside. When I showed up they sat 2 sets of adults in 2 booths in front of us when they didn't request it. When it was our turn they said they couldn't put us in a booth. I love ihop but not this ihop, worst customer service, foods were either over cooked or undercooked. my whole family had food poisoning after eating here. Curbside pickup does not exist. They do not bring your food out despite indicating that they will. After waiting 30 minutes beyond the expected completion time and 2 phone calls, I had to go inside to inquire about my food. Very poor customer service and some of the food was burnt and greasy. So happy this IHOP opened Nov. in the Watertown, NY Plaza where the Hilton and Holiday INN are. I had the diet breakfast plate. I made changes which did not upset them. My selection consisted of two egg whites scrambled, since I did not want the fruit I substituted hash browns, and instead of toast ordered english muffin perfectly toasted because I mentioned to toast it light. Also, I substituted 2 pieces of reg. bacon for turkey bacon, which is .49 extra each piece. However, well worth the extra charge. For a side dish I ordered two buttermilk pancakes. My guest ordered the 2-2-2 breakfast, consisting of: two eggs, bacon (she too changed to Turkey Bacon) and 2 buttermilk pancakes. She drank the all you can drink coffee, from the usual carafe that sits on the table, and I had hot water. Danielle the waitress was the best. So attentive and funny. Sat and looked around and saw many people who sat before us not served there meal yet. We called for a mgr after 45 minutes with no one around getting there food so we knew new it would be much longer as many tables are empty at this point and people waiting to be seated.
