The venue upstairs was used for an adult prom recently and I attended. It was a lot of fun however the seating was odd, the shape of the room was even more odd. The bar is at a corner and yet at the center of the room .. the bathrooms are tiny and don't have doors and are right when you walk in so it feels like no privacy. The dance floor was a decent size, and the area could be setup better for seating but it was a fun night. I just loved that the bar had 1911 loganberry! read more

I only tried the beer, not the food. The 1812 Amber Ale on tap is delicous. Cost is $8 for the "tall" glass (didn't catch the cost for the short glass). And the seating out back along the river makes it even better. Food smelled great inside though. Cute place with ample parking. Found 1812 Brewery on Apple Maps and headed there to find Maggie's on the River. When we arrived, I requested to sit outside by the river and we were informed that the patio seating was closed because there was a chance of rain. We sat in the bar and I was happy to find they had Mango Cart on tap and deep fried pickle slices (which are WAY better than spears IMO). My husband and I split a pear walnut salad that was drenched in dressing. It was so bad that I attempted to sop up some of the extra dressing with my napkin. Helpful tip if you decide to order a salad here...ask for the dressing on the side. We also split blackened fish tacos and fries. The fish was definitely more Cajun than blackened. The fries, however, were on point. Crispy and delicious. Our oldest had chicken wings which were extremely dry on the inside. Our youngest had chicken strips with fries and he stated "they are not good". Didn't get much more out of him other than he said they were "burnt". Sadly disappointed and will not be back. read more

It's now called 1812 brewing company on the river. Wife and I are their today on Easter Sunday. She had lamb and I had a burger. She said the Lamb was cooked to perfection, better than the local steakhouses. My burger was very good with the addition of grilled apple slices. Fries were fresh and crispy. Relaxed Tuesday afternoon, quick and tasty. Definitely enjoyed the food and the female server was so kind and helpful. Had the fried chicken fingers with honey mustard, very very crisp and delicious. I hate to leave a bad review and I have never left a bad review on anything, ever...but I feel like something needs to be said for this place... Maggie's has really gone downhill since the new owners. The restaurant area feels like a cafeteria, and their wait staff is extremely slow and barely present. If you order a drink with dinner, you better order two, because it will be a long time before your servers make it back to ask if you need anything let alone another drink. Anytime you order food, something always comes out wrong, or worse, undercooked. Nothing is more disgusting than biting into a piece of barely cooked chicken. Then you have to wait a very long time before your server comes back just for the mistake to be corrected. The only thing that will come out cooked properly is their pizza. Which I will say is very good, but if you're only getting one thing on your menu right then what's the point of having anything else? It feels like the kitchen rushes everything, and the waitstaff just doesn't care. We used to love coming here because the food was always great, the atmosphere was laid back, and the waitstaff used to be above and beyond what you would expect. It was phenomenal, but it's clearly not the case anymore. Maggie's used to be packed with customers from open to close any day of the week. Now, you can find parking there even on their "busiest" nights. It's really sad. Again, I normally don't leave bad reviews and I feel bad for leaving this one. We were in Watertown for the solar eclipse. The mayor said in her speech that they had been preparing for the influx of people for years and yet many restaurants remained closed. We ended up going to Maggie's as they were one of the few that seems to be open, however they were understaffed and our waitress was unhappy to have to work another shift. They had run out of many items on their menu and it was basic pub food and it took a long time in coming. We walked in with 6 people..the waitress saw us and immediately rolled her eyes. No I'm not exaggerating. She put a couple tables together and seated us. We were there for about 2 hours and I got one refill. A majority of my friends got the pasta dishes which were according to them extremely disappointing. The crab was obviously not fresh. The noodles were jus like store bought noodles for an excessive price. Honestly the best thing we had was the pretzel appetizer with cheese. I'm sure the pretzels weren't made In house but they were good and fluffy. This place was overall a disappointment. Our original waitress was such a joke. She seemed so upset from the beginning that we had 6 people. This doesn't surprise me since every place I've I've been i this town is pretty sh*ty. This place had potential but it seems like the owners have given up and/or cutting corners. We had Brandon and he was awesome with our little, attentive towards us, and when I finally told the truth about the meal, he immediately took care of it. Inside was a bit too cold and we were chilled to the bone. What I assume was the manager was training someone and taking orders - while wearing hot pink shorts, a shirt, and her hair matched her shorts. It seemed a bit too casual to me. You couldn't tell her apart from the actual customers. She just genuinely looked unprofessional and attention seeking. The food - it was subpar. We ordered the Thai egg rolls for a starter - HEAVEN. Perfect amount of heat and the chili sauce was fire. We were excited about the entrees. My partner got a Reuben and fries. He rated it a 6/10. I got fried pickles and garlic Parmesan boneless chicken wings. Both were deep fried in grease. That was the only thing you could taste about them - grease. They were not seasoned at all. I was able to eat one chicken wing before I wanted to throw up and maybe about 3 pickles and I just felt queasy. The food is pub style food. As we were leaving, we saw a group of about 8 guys walk in. They are catering to a pub clientele that may be too drunk to realize how awful the food actually is. Haven't had them yet... the bartender is super slow and bought out an ice cold app after I asked why it was taking so long....... Guess she forgot to pick it up... We went on a Wednesday and everyone in my group minus me went with the all you can eat tacos for $9. You can get sour cream and pico de gallo with them. I stole a bite of both the chicken and the beef. The tacos were decent, I preferred the chicken. I mean they're all you can eat so if you eat enough I would say they would be worth it. Our table got an order of fried pickles. They were solid but the order was a bit smaller then what I was expecting based on the price. I got the sirloin slider. That was great! The bun was good and the slaw was great. There was a good amount of steak too, it was overflowing off the bun. I only wish I could have specified the temperature of my steak, it was a medium well and I prefer my steak bloody. I will be back to Maggie's. Really friendly service, beautiful view and sound of the rapids from the terrace seating. The food selection was large. We had pizza, wings and fish tacos with sweet potato fries. Usually if we go to Maggie's, we have a couple hours of cocktails at the bar before we sit down to eat. Because of the Covid 19 rules, we sat right down in the air conditioned dining room. Luckily, our delightful waitress told us to take as long as we want, even though they have tables and the place was full. For appetizers, we had the delicious Philly Egg Rolls. I then had the delicious chicken parm sandwich with great fries, while my wife had the chicken parm dinner. Others at our table had a tasty looking Mac and cheese. Our waitress JC was just great to us. The only reason I don't give Maggie's give stars is because their beer is very expensive. Seven dollars for a draft is way too high. read more

I was going to give 4 stars, but changed my mind to 5 stars for what you get based on what you're in for. Maggie's is a drinkin' hole! Lots of great beers on tap and in cans/bottles, staples and rotations, good pricing. They do a VERY nice job with the bar food, borders on gastro-pub styling without the pretentiousness. Chef's specials can be a real treat. I end up in Watertown nearly once a month on business, almost always on Tuesdays, so I often get the 'can't beat beer n burger $10 special,' but everything else I've had on the menu was great too. Kitchen is open 'til midnight when they sit the doors -- friggin' awesome! The bar stays open 'til the last patron is done drinkin', until the barmaid gets exhausted, or until 4:00am, whichever comes first (usually the foremost). Be prepared for a little rowdy as the patrons roll through during the course of the night, part of the fun. Remember, I said it is a drinkin' hole. Probably the best of all things ordered, but again like pretty much anyone could make it at home. Since there was no patio seating, got a spot on second floor with a "view". Was recommended by a friend and it didn't disappoint! My husband and I went for lunch and we're very pleased. Our server was Alicia and she was extremely friendly as well as knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered a couple of their signature drinks and they were just as she described. The Philly cheesesteak egg rolls were amazing! Hubby had the blackened fish tacos and I had fish and chips. It was all delicious. We ended by sharing a Snickers cheesecake. For some reason our server got tied up towards the end but another server was able to get our check. She was also very friendly and accommodating.
