All the empty tables yet such slow service...nothing wiped off...just yuck.
    Alison K.

To begin with, there were people waiting outside, inside and up by the register both seated and standing trying desperately to get a table! I'm sorry, but if most people are masked when they come in, there's dividers between the tables (and I mean on the backs of the booth seats, making them pretty high)...why not seat the available tables instead of every other one? No one does that anymore for Pete's sakes! We were told about 10 minutes to wait and it ended up being more like 30 minutes since they were leaving half the tables empty...when we were finally seated, I was forced to slide through crumbs on the UN-wiped seat. Now that irks me. You're worried about germs, but you don't even decently wipe off tables or seats? Are you kidding me?? As you can tell, this wasn't starting out at the beginning to be a good visit and it only got worse from there. We both ordered sandwiches (I'm allergic now to eggs, or I'd have ordered a breakfast of some kind -- I really miss my eggs) with a side. Mine were onion rings and his was two pancakes. My burger was the BBQ burger and his was a chicken sandwich. After about 20 minutes, our order did finally come out. Both of our sandwiches were cold...so were my onion rings, which had turned into rocks by the time I got them. They were so hard I had to pull them off my burger because they wouldn't even squish down enough to make the burger the size a human being could take a bite of! My hubby's pancakes were slightly warm he says...at least for the whipped butter to melt...but my sandwich, the BBQ burger had basically no bbq sauce on it at all! Talk about a tasteless, dry burger! I asked for more bbq sauce and something different from the cup of coffee I had to start with. The bbq sauce finally came after about another 10 minutes, but the Arnold Palmer with unsweet tea came finally about 15 minutes after that. However, it was only unsweet tea. No lemonade. I was charged for the Arnold Palmer. I never got an Arnold Palmer...neither did my hubby who gets his with sweet tea --also received only tea. For the outrageous price we were charged for below standard food, the agonizing waits and the horrible incorrect beverages along with the incessant crying, yelling and screaming from someone's little girl, it was a completely miserable and lackluster visit. Seems they have TONS of room for improvement. I hope they do soon or they will only have their regulars from the local retired community to visit. Since it's kind of a small parking lot, it made it hard to find a spot, although it's right off the main Hwy. The floors were in desperate need of sweeping or vacuuming, the other floors sticky with syrup or something and tables and seats not being cleaned properly. Ultimately? YUCK. OH OH OH!!! Just went into my Facebook and guess what my memory was back in 2016? Of going to this exact IHOP and having such a horrible experience, the MANAGER actually had everything compted. Now THAT is ridiculous after five years to the date, a customer comes back and has yet another horrible experience?? Pictures proving the date and our vehicle we'd just gotten at an auction parked on the side of the building (screen grab) and then the reply to one of my friends who commented on how much he loved pancakes (2nd screen grab, omitting his name).

    The cupcake pancakes!!!!

We love, love, love this IHOP. Even though we live in Gainesville, Fl, we have been traveling to the IHOP in Starke, Fl since it opened. It's much cleaner, brighter, the service and food is off better quality and the experience is great!!!!

The kind that makes you immediately question every life decision that didn't involve ordering biscuits earlier. You don't eat here... you enter into a long-term relationship with blueberry butter. I'm fairly certain I would now spread it on drywall if given the opportunity. But the real star of the experience was our server, Tracy. Tracy did not "serve" us. Tracy managed us. She roasted us, corrected our menu decisions, judged our drink choices, and somehow kept our coffee cups filled the entire time. At one point I'm pretty sure she made eye contact from across the room and my water refilled out of pure fear and respect. We tried to act like mature adults ordering breakfast -- Tracy immediately saw through it.She kept us laughing the entire meal and somehow ran the table like a combination of a stand-up comedian, a kindergarten teacher, and a cruise director. I'm convinced:Grannie's doesn't run on electricity. It runs on biscuits, blueberry butter, and Tracy's personality. We showed up as customers and left feeling like we just got fed at a relative's house... except the relative is hilarious and will absolutely call you out for not finishing your pancakes. 5 stars for the food. 5 stars for the atmosphere. 10 stars for Tracy. If you go to Grannie's and Tracy is your server -- don't worry... she'll take very good care of you whether you deserve it or not. We will 100% be back. Probably partially because of the food... but mostly because Tracy would be disappointed if we didn't.

People were coming out quickly but no one was ever taken in. 45 minutes later our table was called only to find the table hadn't been cleaned or set. Enter server, who had never seen a smile before apparently. We got drinks taken but needed time to decide. That was the last time we saw her until I asked another server to finally order. We did order but the food was not good at all; swimming in grease. Getting a drink refill was near impossible with yet another different server having to do that. After the meal a fourth person had to bring boxes and a to go bag. Our original server, who did nothing, finally brought the check. I understand weekends are busy, however, there was ZERO interest in us or our patronage. Couple it with the blessing out the cook was getting from a "manager" in the kitchen I'll be giving this place a hard pass for a while. It definitely did not live up to my previous experience. As for ambiance I can honestly say there was none. If you want alcohol for breakfast it might be the right spot because all the service happened at the bar.

Love their milkshakes and all their food items! It has the 50's drive-in feel vibe going on. You park and they walk up to your car and take your order. Or you can get out and walk up to the window. Back in the early 1990's when I was working as a truck driver out of Jacksonville a few times a month I would stop by Powell's for lunch when traveling through Starke. Today we ordered a milkshake. I ordered the Cookies & Cream Milkshake and it was delicious!!!! The waitress was very friendly. It took maybe 5 minutes to get our 4 milkshakes for all of us. * Definitely recommend you stop by Powell's for lunch/dinner/snacks while traveling through the Starke area.

As a high-performing young person in the food industry and retail industry in the past, I usually give young people the benefit of the doubt working in a setting like this one. However, this most recent experience was an absolute sh*tshow from beginning to end. It cannot possibly be that difficult to take an order from the counter or the calculate the price of 3 items. Somehow these team members made it look like it was more difficult than rocket science, and did so at the slowest rate of any burger joint I've ever seen in my entire life. From not being greeted once, to taking 10 minutes to even get to pay, to absolutely no apology for how long it took or even a "thank you" or "have a nice night." I can count on one hand the times I've ever left an establishment without leaving a 20% tip but I've never seen a more deserving group of people to do it to. As for the food - who would've guessed that bagging corn nuggets before getting the burger it took 10 minutes to make would result in a barely warm bag of corn nuggets? More mysterious, however, was how in the world the burger wasn't hot after all that time cooking. Do yourself a favor and walk away if it takes you 3 minutes of standing directly in front of the team members who are at the counter with no greeting. Don't give them the benefit of the doubt, no matter how much you once loved it. I'm grateful for the experience to teach me to stop vouching for small town stops if I haven't been there myself recently. Here's to hoping no one I recommended this place to recently has gone, or that they had a better experience than I did!
