For me, an alright IHOP location. Unlike many of the other local IHOP locations I've been to locally, this one is located in a strip mall rather than being a standalone location. This gives it a little different experience as the parking doesn't encircle the restaurant, and the interior is setup in a bit different configuration than most IHOPs that I've been too. The tables and bathroom were fairly clean here, and the restaurant lighting was fairly good. The food offerings are still the same as any other IHOP with lots of sweet and savory options, mostly on a value level of pricing. The food here tastes similar to any other IHOP location, with the sweet options being a bit better than savory options, particularly the pancakes. Food is served reasonably fast and friendly. Overall, a solid option if you enjoy the food at IHOP -- this location will give you a familiar experience.

    Small location but nice seats

The location is very clean and the staff was amazing. The place has a good amount of seats for a small location. Fast service and very attentive staff. The only issue is during the cold weather the seats by the door become a bit difficult to seat at. The cold air comes in and you have to wear your coat the whole time you are there. The door also closes slow letting a good amount of cold air in. The people around us had their coat on due to this issue and it was not a pleasant experience. I don't think I would come back. The food was good but we had to eat it fast due to it cooling down.

It's been a while since there was an IHOP nearby and this new storefront version is a reasonable replacement for the old Buffalo Grove location. In the years since I was last in one, the new style interiors are familiar with a somewhat modern update. The basic menus seem virtually unchanged except now in the post-pandemic era an order of chicken fried steak will set you back about $17. The pancakes are still good, the service is pleasant, and the restaurant is still immaculately clean. All together a nice alternative to the Denny's across the street.

View of entrance from my booth. I was originally sat at a table next to a side door which was also freezing.

December review and it is freezing inside. No foyer. Just one set of doors. Every time the door opens, a freezing gust of wind blows into the seating area. Customer and food get cold fast. Will not return.

First time at this new ihop location in Palatine. It is a nice mini ihop in a strip mall with spacious private booths and modern tables. Everything looks clean. I like that!! Service was friendly and fast. My husband had a short stack with sausage links and coffee. He was in the mood for fluffy pancakes and got them. I had an egg white omelette with spinach, cherry tomatoes, onion and mushrooms and fresh avocado slices on top. I had a side of Turkey bacon. They do not have Turkey sausage. I requested to Saco sauce for a little spice. The food came hot and fresh and it was delicious. Overall a pleasant experience.

One of the best IHOPs I've ever visited! Outstanding service and an exceptionally clean restaurant. My server, Elba, was fantastic--very attentive and friendly. The location is newly built with a modern design, which makes the dining experience even better. Highly recommended!!!

Chappie's was a random pick for us to go have brunch at while we were in the Palatine area. Chappie's had been on my list of brunch restaurants to check out. When we got to the restaurant it was peak lunch time and the restaurant was almost 3/4 full. We got seated promptly. We took our time to look at their menu and decide as they had a good menu variety. We ordered drinks in the meantime. I got a regular coffee and a Chappieccino (cappuccino w/ Chappie's face, Chappie being their family dog, a Corgie). We ordered a Bacado Omelet w/ a side of pumpkin spice pancakes instead of regular pancakes and hashbrowns, a Huevos Rancheros, and a special of 2 Eggs x 2 Pancakes x 2 Sausage links (instead of bacon). I had the Bacado Omelet which had bacon, avocado, scallions, cheese, and I asked for chopped jalapeños which did not have an up charge. The omelet was good. I liked the way it was cooked. The hash browns were cooked to perfection. They were exactly the way I like them, crispy and soft. They also have me a fried green chili pepper (Chile Toreado) on the side which added a nice spicy taste. The specialty pumpkin spice pancakes with pumpkin puree whipped cream was really delicious. I loved its taste. The Huevos Rancheros was the best dish at the table. It was perfectly cooked with two fried corn tortillas, eggs over easy, fried beans, red salsa, and cheese. It tasted great. I liked it more than my dish. The special of 2 Eggs x 2 Pancakes x 2 sausage links was tasty as well. We had a good experience and would go back. Definitely recommended. Check it out.

I dined here yesterday Saturday 4-25-2026 for breakfast and ordered the Bangsilog (Milkfish with Eggs) and Longsilog (Philippine Sausage with Eggs) for entrees, then for dessert, I had my favorite Filipino dessert, Halo Halo! Everything was spectacularly delicious! My favorite server, Veronica, did a great job serving my food quickly and efficiently, plus also letting me know about the tons of new menu items! The place was packed when I came in around 10 am and was clean and had a festive, family-friendly vibe to it! I'm definitely coming back on Sunday 4/26 for the Ube Pancakes (a new Filipino breakfast menu addition)!

The place was not busy so we were seated immediately. We got the Filipino menus as well as the traditional. I ordered a side of Garlic Fried Rice and a side of 2 Eggs Over Easy and the Ube Pancakes. The 3 guys each ordered the Tap-Si-Log and Garlic Fried Rice and a couple orders of the Filipino Lumpia. Let's start with the Garlic Fried rice, it was good and had crispy garlic bits in it. It was good but typical. The Ube Pancakes were pretty good. You can taste Ube flavoring and it was large. I liked the Ube Cream drizzle. The lumpia was crispy and a decent size. I was told it was good and the sauce was tasty. My friends said the Tap-Si-Log was just ok. By the look of the meat, it didn't have that caramelized sauce on the meat and in my opinion that's what makes or breaks the dish. The looks confirmed my assumption as I was told that it was just ok. The service was good as we got seated quickly but it went downhill from there. First, when our food arrived as it was being placed on the table, one server decided to hand it across the table and stuff in the plate fell into my friend's lap, good thing it was just the vinegar sauce that was in a container. But way pass the plate from across the table? and the person didn't even apologize. Next, the server only came by once to refill our waters once. It's not like it was busy. Then when the server finally came, it was just to plop our check on the table and didn't even ask if we needed anything else or how was everything. The staff just sat at the bar talking as if they were the customers. We wondered if they were coming over to take payment and as we tried to get their attention, they avoided looking our way. We finally got the attention of a staff member and let them know we wanted to pay and he told us we had to go to the front. Yet, no one was there. We stood there for about 2 minutes. Lastly, two people were sitting next to us and orders were taken but it seemed like it took a long time for their food to come. They tried to get the staff attention and they were ignored. Finally, someone came over and gave them an excuse that the system went down and had to be reset. What's the excuse if not checking in them? Maybe the staff needs to be reset. The food was average and the service was terrible. I wouldn't come back to this place just cause of the service. It is too bad cause I'd try other things as well.

They just don't seem like they want to be there, and it is just a bit off putting. Having said that, we do occasionally still stop by. We have ventured out to try stuff that's NOT waffles. The kids liked the small quesadillas i think-- not greasy and nice plain flavors, easy to please the kids. My oldest really liked the tuna melt and it was good, and generous portions. Easy to split with the other kids. The ironman in comparison is so tiny and not worth the price-- which is really just paying for the "health" aspect of it. I get it. Overall, the foods are still really good, we just don't really like having to gamble with who our server is that day!

And Baker's Square closed YEARS ago in SoCal. Missed their pies and baked goods! So imagine my (pleasant) surprise when I found this little place in Palatine! I decided to head there for a brekky on a cool May morning. Stepped in, saw all the breads, pastries, and pies along the front counters- wow. I was greeted warmly and seated instantly. My waitress came right away, and I ordered unleaded (decaf for those in the know). It came in a little pot, ala IHOP, and was really, really GOOD. Wow. Decaf has come a long ways from the Sanka days! I ordered the INN-CREDIBLE V.I.B. which allowed me to order 4 yummy items of my choice - I chose the french toast (yummy and spiced just right albeit w/room temp syrup- not a deal-breaker but notable), a strawberry crepe (totally awesome strawberries, but the crepe was a bit colder than expected); scrambled eggs (always a nice stalwart) and two turkey sausage links (as with the frenchie above, nicely flavored!). The ambience was modern, updated, and felt welcoming and (thankfully) a bit familiar. Brought back some good ol' memories even if only the Baker's Square part of the menu was just pies nowadays. But the Village Inn lives on! And that counts - and I'll return. You should check it out too if you enjoy a good brekky at a classic American diner!
