The way this Gainesville, GA location just treated me as a Veteran is shameful! The manager Crystal denied my Veterans Card & made me pull up my discharge paperwork just to prove I served. Once I showed my proof I left because the way I was handled was distasteful! Was in line, gentleman in front of me was told they didn't have what he needed, older couple waiting to pay, the man walking with a cane told his wife he'd be outside. This IHOP is a location we tend to visit a few times each year while in Gainesville. Everything you'd expect on the menu from an IHOP chain. Make no mistake, this location is busy at breakfast/brunch all the time. So expect a wait when you put your name in. On average, we wait 20-30 mins. Maybe it's because of our party size. (5-6 adults) Maybe they're just busy. The food is always good and hot. I've never had a bad brunch here. You get what you pay for when it comes to portions. If it's breakfast or brunch, and you have an hour or more, you'll join the many, many people that partake here. It will continue to be on our brunch map in the future. read more

I've contracted food poisoning from this Gainesville location from undercooked eggs. I asked for scrambled eggs to not be overcooked, but they arrived very undercooked. The restaurant doesn't seem very clean and I do get it that they're understaffed, but my nausea and accompanying bodily fluids just ended any future visits. read more

Food is good it's IHOP so depends on location. Management needs to do something about To-Go orders and how it's set up in general. It's terrible. Need to have a Hostess and another for To-Gos. They have one hostess seating people, who barely knows how to take orders so she hands them off to a poor waitress who's trying to handle her own tables, probably due to management again not training and not hiring correctly. Arrived at 8:50 pm, the staff were all in the back in a group (4 of them joking around) I had to get there attention.. the young lady that came up ask me if I was ordering out I said no I was dinning in.. she was not happy and as she walked my to a table covered with food she let me know they close at 10pm.. I let her know that was over an hour away.. I refused to seat at the dirty table even though she offered to clean it.. I set a few tables down.. she ask me what I wanted to drink, I said coffee.. she returned about TEN MINS LATER.. with coffee and took took my order.. keep in mind I'm the only person there.. 20 mins later my food comes.. food was ok but if I owned this place I would want to look at the camera footage around closing time. read more

Came here for my birthday breakfast cause I have been really craving pancakes. When we got here there was a 45 minute wait so we waited. The time went fast and maybe after 15-20 it was our turn so not a bad start! I got the breakfast sampler which came with 2 eggs, 2 sausage links, 2 strips of bacon, hash brown and 2 pancakes. When everything came out it looked fine but we found having to ask our server to literally everything like syrup, ketchup, hot sauce and more coffee which wasn't a problem but just was taking a while to get everything we needed. Also noticed our table was super sticky and there were crumbs everywhere but too shy to ask them to clean it up lol The food was meh, cold, and not really tasty. Looked half ass done. Pancakes weren't good either, they were cold and the syrup tasted super bland like it had stayed out all night long. Our server was nice and got all our order right so that's the only reason I'm giving it 2 stars. If I was rating this place based on the cleaning less and food it would be a -1 out of 5 stars for me. read more

Tables are too close together so you're rubbing elbows with complete strangers. They got both mine and my wife's orders wrong. I ordered a sausage breakfast burrito but got bacon instead and my wife requested a spinach omelet with NO Onions but it came out with onions. Haven't been to an IHOP in a very long time so I was looking forward to going again. Have wanted to go a few times in the past but it's always been busy. So I figured it must be a pretty good place. Sadly I can say it wasn't very good. I had a mushroom, ham and cheese omelette with hash browns. It was just ok. My wife had the chicken and waffles with a side of breakfast potatoes and it was horrible. Chicken was dry with way to much batter on it and the batter tasted old. The breakfast potatoes tasted just like the chicken which also tasted like old oil. So needless to say I won't be going back to this location. Make sure to bring a jacket if you go. We went here for dinner on a Friday night as we were craving pancakes. It took 10 minutes to get our drink order, and we asked for straws as we have an 8 year old and 2 year old. After another 15 minutes, my wife had to hunt someone down to get silverware and straws. When our food came, they brought out the wrong order for our oldest daughter. When we told them what we ordered, the waiter said that is not what he heard, but he out the correct order in. Also, I ordered the Smokehouse combo, which comes with pancakes. When I asked where my pancakes were, I was told it doesn't come with pancakes. And to top it off, the booth behind us was belittling their son and the table down from us was belittling their daughter. This is probably the last time we will eat at IHOP. read more

I have been to this IHOP 4 times now, and each experience has been a bit different. I have always had friendly waitresses but the service otherwise is always slow and sloppy. I have noticed the pancakes are quite smaller here than at other IHOP locations I have been to. I have tried almost all of their pancakes here, but today I tried the creme brûlée stack. The pancakes had a custard like creme with caramel shards and whipped cream, and they were delicious. I also tried the new sweet and spicy maple syrup which was quite delicious. Overall, not the best IHOP, but I will definitely visit when I'm in the area. read more

For what it is it is average at best.Considering Gainesville has no place decent for breakfast, it will do in a pinch.It is packed, so you would imagine it was the Ritz! Sorry, it is just IHOP. 10/28/2019 11 am I hate to say it but I think IHOP is slipping. My last visit was not great and this one was fair at best. I had the Gomez green chili omelete which was very good. I also tried 2 bites of the NEW italian cannoli pancakes b4 asking they be removed from the table. That was a real bad idea IHOP- go back to the drawing board and erase the whole thing. Wife had the Split Decision w/ straw cream. She said it was dissapointing as it was just bland. Something about sweetner and oil/grease. She may give up IHOP as the last visit was sub par as I said. Though it was about 90% capacity - service from PAIGE was good. She promptly handled our orders and ckd back at just the right times of course. Can't believe they have the wait staff take the bills now - no longer paying at the checkout - hostess really had not much to do but stuff condiment jellys into place. She could have been taking checks - giving waitresses more time to get customers in - served and out opening a table for the next guests. Just another bonehead move by mgmt. I guess it depends on the server. I have been here in the past with no issues. First they were supposed to open @ 6:00 am. They were not open. I returned and I guess they opened sometime between 6:00am and 7:00. I always order the 2 x 2x2. I sub protein pancakes. This waitress tried to tell me they couldn't do that. I explained I understood it was an up charge and usher done it in Buford and Lilburn. She was steadfast in our denial they couldn't do it. Mark these folks off your list. Stopped in for our first visit 3/22/18 and ordered the chicken fajita omelet and it was awesome. The service was spot on and from the presentation to taste our food was awesome. The establishment is very clean. On 3/26/18 we came back and it also was off the chart. read more

Kind of a surreal service.... lots of really odd miscommunications by the wait staff (but I guess in a good way). I think that maybe they are so sensitive to complaining customers that they are sort of "hyper-sensitive" to anyone just standing up to get a glass of water or place their order. Not sure. My 5 stars is all about how they handled things My meal ended up being comped - to which I objected - NO ONE did anything wrong! I was never upset and never suggested to anyone I was. I was the problem I think in that I asked to sit at a single little table instead of a 4-top, since I was alone. Seemed a waste to take a big table when it was just me and the place was packed with families waiting at the door. Great credit for trying so very hard to overcompensate for a grievance that never existed in the first place! I never once expressed annoyance - just stood up to flag a server a time or two, but I don't think anyone expected me to be where I was since it was ME who chose the more distant table. The manager came to my table TWICE, to make sure all was well and to comp my meal (which I objected to twice), and my server came multiple times to make sure all was well - and the girl who seated me came multiple times to make sure all was well. So in that light, full "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" 5-star review simply based on service, and to the very pleasant two servers and one manager all trying to "make it right" on an $8 veggie omelet (totally decent - 3 Yelp stars for food - typical chain restaurant rating). Malaki, my server, was awesome. He felt bad over what was just a strange misunderstanding and it was important to me to make sure he understood NO ONE did anything wrong, and I had never complained in the slightest - I had just stood up, since I was in a section that wasn't active, by my own choice, and politely asked for a glass of water in a section just not much in use. Anyone from this iHop reading this, you all did great - practically stumbling over each other to "make it right" - you did a great job trying to compensate, especially considering I was utterly in no rush, with nowhere better to go, stuck in the hotel next door!!. So gotta say as I did in my first line, it was just kinda surreal - but should upper management see this, these guys went out of their way to try to "make it right" when not much was wrong to start with. Pretty rare to have so many folks try to make sure their customers have a terrific experience. They really truly seemed to care in a way I'm just not used to. We've been to this location several times, and while it's never been outstanding, this most recent time was by far the worst. After being told the wait was "a few minutes", we waited for a full half hour. Upon being seated, our booth was filthy, and that is no exaggeration. The seat had not been wiped down at all, and there were actual chunks of food all over it. The menus were sticky and our feet stuck to the floor. During the course of our meal, we observed two different servers visibly sick. They were coughing and sniffling and looked like they did not feel well. All of this while serving customers food. I was waiting for maybe 20+ minutes and three people left after they finished eating and STILL no one came to help me or seat me. I watched as they even received two phone calls and ignored them while everyone was just standing around talking and ignoring the people coming in waiting to be seated. Eventually we all just left one by one and a the hostess came up and ignored us and then walked away while talking to her friends/ coworkers. She didn't even acknowledge any of us were there. I enjoyed my experience this morning in Gainesville, GA IHOP on Jesse Jewell. I called ahead for party of one. No problem. The person on phone was nice and took my name and said, you'll get a notification on your phone when to come inside. Easy process. I walked in and table was ready-super clean and every staff that I came into contact with was super nice. My server was Michelle and she was the best server! Fast and efficient! Very friendly. My bacon was extra crispy as I order and perfect. I ordered the senior 55+ french toast and it was also wonderful. Food quality excellent. Service Excellent. Cleanliness excellent. Overall excellent. Concern that has nothing to do with establishment. Not one customer was wearing a mask and appears to not even have one in their possession for after their meal. All employees were wearing a mask. Way to go IHOP! Keep wearing those masks. As a health care worker down the street, The numbers of COVID-19 positive patients is going up(according to your local news) so please community, do your part and wear your masks and social distancing practices.
