My Burger King Receipt for my meal at lunch.
    Ken D.

This is not your typical Burger King experience, it was obvious from the moment I stepped inside the door that Burger King is working to step up their game. The location is large, bright and clean unlike most the established Burger King locations. Starting with the bathrooms, I walked in to wash my hands before ordering and was pleasantly surprised. Large bathroom that was clean and debris free, well stocked with soap and a hand dryer that was in working order. The bathroom also smelled clean. The counter space is large and uncramped, bright colors and clean. My order was taken promptly by a helpful and friendly cashier. I filled my drink as I waited and fund a table. The table was clean and neat in the dining room surrounded by several other people dining. I chose the unsweet tea, it was very light and virtually tasteless with no tea flavor at all. The ketchup dispenser in the drink area were both empty and no packets were available. When you order they ask your name, however, my name was not ever called and I watched a tray placed on the counter by a lady. I asked if this was my order and she had no idea nor any desire to find out so I took the tray and proceeded to my table. My Fries were served hot and were tasty and cooked perfectly. I also ordered the Sourdough King, At a meal price of $8.98 my expectations were set. It is a large sandwich with a large portion. The sandwich was very dry, there was some of the "signature special sauce" but it was extremely light. The sourdough bun was fresh and soft but also very dry. I have given this Burger King a Three-star rating due to the quality of the beverage which I found to be watered down, the lack of available condiments, the taste, quality of the sandwich, and at a cost of $8.98 I can get much better at many other local establishments.

    Love this decor!

The burger and tater tots were also very good. The menu offers a wide variety of specialty burgers with plenty of customization options, including grass-fed beef for a small upcharge. Fair prices for the quality and quantity of food--definitely left in a food coma. Service: Service was efficient and the food came out well-prepared. No major issues during the visit. Atmosphere: Located in downtown Dahlonega, making it easy to explore nearby shops and dessert spots before or after your meal. The tavern has a darker, eclectic vibe with artwork, punk music, and a slightly edgy feel. The décor fits the restaurant's origins and personality, though the lighting--including in the restrooms--is quite dim. Parking downtown can be somewhat difficult during busy times.

I asked for some Tabasco sauce to help make the sandwich more palatable to eat, instead of being brought a bottle like most restaurants would give you they gave me a condiment cup full of Tabasco sauce, too much for anyone to use. When the bill came for an extra 50 Cent charge for it, I didn't fight it because it was 50 Cent and I just wanted to leave, but it was frustrating. I've never been charged for condiments / hot sauce at a restaurant I'm giving two stars because the server was nice and patient while we figured out what my little one needed to order she had to come back to the table a couple times, but they should have mentioned the surcharge for the hot sauce at the time that I requested it. Would I come back here again for a meal, no. Would I consider coming back to try a cocktail, maybe, only because overheard the bartender speaking to some patrons quite passionately about the flavors which they put together so I would give this part. Another chance even though the kitchen has lost my confidence,

Against our better judgment, we went with Whataburger's Dawsonville location. This might be my first review for them on Yelp, but it is not the first time there and all three times in the space of almost a year have been equally terrible. Let me put it in perspective... I spent several years of my childhood in Texas, where Whataburger is about as much as an iconic institution as Atlanta's Varsity. Imagine growing up and moving east where there's no Whataburger in your state. And then imagine joining the campaign to bring Whataburger here. Let's change that and take a native Georgian who grew up eating at The Varsity, who then moved to Texas, went YEARS without that nostalgic taste and the memories associated with it. Then, let's say someone decides to open a Varsity franchise in Houston Metro AND COMPLETELY DISGRACE THE MEMORIES OF YOUR CHILDHOOD. That's pretty much what the Dawsonville location has done all three times we've eaten there. I can only assume that they just don't care. It's not only that all three times the food has been old and cold... it's not only that the first time I ordered there for a pickup, and they let me sit for 30 minutes before handing my mysteriously lost order, with no offer to remake the old, cold, stale food... it's also that consistently all three times, the orders have been horribly wrong. As you can see from the picture, I ordered two double whataburgers, both with bacon, one with jalapeno, one without, and both with letttuce, tomato, onion, pickles and mustard, even though you can't see that part. We paid for the up charges. Total was $51 and some change. Pretty sure what I ended up with was not $51 worth. What I got, was three burgers... only one with bacon, all three with only ketchup. The handy thing about Uber Eats is that you can watch in real time where your delivery person is. Poor dude sat at that location for almost half an hour. Maybe he had dinner while he was there, I don't mind. But I'm 100 percent positive that he did not assemble or pack the order. So clearly he was not the issue. So not only did they get the order horribly wrong, but they made a guy who depends on tips, wait. Yes, we still tipped because we knew it wasn't his fault. And I know Dawsonville isn't a hub of activity at midnight on a Thursday morning, so I'm pretty positive they weren't just swamped, which was the excuse I got the first time my order was left sitting and also incorrect. At this point, I'd rather see that location shut down than allow them to further disgrace an iconic Texas institution. We won't be going back and I'll be sure to share my review on that location.

We had our 12 lb bundle of puppy joy with us so to the back deck we went. I think Dakotah was the only server on the main floor, both inside and out because it took a long time. Long time for water. He was busy even though the restaurant wasn't full. Poor guy. My hubby ordered the muffaletta and wasn't impressed. He ate it though. He loved his Abita root beer. I decided to order from the side menu and I'm so happy I did. The andouille sausage was grilled and tasty. The maque choux was amazing. Think Mexican corn with a Louisiana twist. Perfection!! The loaded grits were also wonderful- chocked full of gouda, bacon, and green onions. Delicious! The gumbo was thick like a stew. The flavor was smoky and sublime. My only beef is instead of all gumbo, the cup was filled mostly with rice... topped with gumbo. Overall we enjoyed our dinner. However, due to the pace of things, the underwhelming sandwich and perception of getting shorted on the chicken and gumbo. I wouldn't hesitate to swing by and order a maque choux to go as a snack except they charge $1 for the to-go container.
