TERRIBLE customer service! I ordered breakfast online. 2 breakfast fave combos. I look in bag before leaving. There are only eggs and sausage in each meal. No pancakes. OH wow! This IHOP is a HOT MESS!!!! I should have read the reviews!! Just avoid this place! This place is such a one and done for most of the people who have ever been here. I'm completely baffled on how this place is open especially with it being a chain I have gone to other IHOPS many times most are mediocre or okay or have good service at best but this place by far is ran nothing like I have ever seen before. Id really like an explanation on how people can get seated and from there just be straight up forgotten about or skipped or ignored. No one knows who's table it is or anything & if you want food you should at Least be prepared to stay close to two hours. No, I'm not kidding.. He went back to the kitchen and repeatedly told him to make a remake my hashbrowns in fact he told them three times that I wanted almost burnt! So my server was a wonderful guy and really deserved the 20% tip. * My hash browns were edible. * Management agreed to pay for my bill because we were two minutes late for international pancake day. The negatives: Despite being told that I wanted my hashbrowns crispy on both sides, the kitchen ignored my requests and my server's request to do so... We hadn't been to IHOP in a long time, and I thought I would try it, because I found press release from the corporation that described their biscuits and gravy, which is what I wanted to have, biscuits, and gravy. Turns out that they didn't have biscuits and gravy, so I opted for the country fried steak. A fellow came up and asked if I was the one who ordered country fried steak, so expecting to be served (it had been long enough) I cleared my space, expecting food, but instead of being served, I was told they didn't have country fried steak, because the truck hadn't come in. Not wanting to take any more time reviewing a menu, I ordered the Colorado omelette, which I had noticed on the menu when I first looked at it. What finally came did not seem like an omelette--the eggs were mixed with pancake batter and it resembled a burrito, instead, wrapped multiple times around! Where there would normally be eggs surrounding the ingredients of an omelette, there was something similar to an Ethiopian-styled bread. A small container contained salsa, holding one or 2 tablespoons worth. I imagine that they were trying to be artistic, but it didn't come out like that, thank God there was ketchup on the table. The hashbrowns were ok (remember the hetchup?) but were reminiscent of a McDonald's hash brown, more of a fried pre-manufactured frozen potato glob than something made fresh. I haven't gotten food poisoning and my stomach was full, so it was OK, but I was severely disappointed because I thought IHOP was good. They were good about serving coffee, give me milk when I asked for it, and it came out in my own little private pot, which I emptied, thank you . read more

I should have stuck with my instincts and gotten breakfast food! I got a smoked turkey wrap with fries. The wrap was flavorless really and after waiting 25 minutes our server brought out our sandwiches without fries. She said they just put them in as she was bringing out the food. We were seated promptly by a very nice and hard working hostess/server. He quickly got our waters and took care of everything else as our actual server never returned to the table after giving us "more time" to look at the menu. It felt like he was the only one working and it wasn't his fault the manager understaffed on a busy Friday night. His individual service does not reflect the one star rating I'm giving but everything else does. It took our food 50 minutes to arrive at the table. When we realized how long we have waited, our gut told us to cancel our order and leave. The server promptly told us our food was next up when she realized we were leaving. Food was mediocre at best. There was 20 minutes where no one even provided service (drink refills, bills, etc) to any of the tables around us. While waiting, we watched at least 40-50 people walk in, who were never greeted and some even ignored, walk out. Every table around us was full of dirty dishes. The restaurant at one point smelled like someone had smoked a cigarette inside. Everyone left cash on tables because they weren't willing to wait any longer. Poor management and planning. Students and football season have returned to East Lansing and iHop will continue to lose business with this level of service. We won't be back again. read more

Belgium chocolate mousse pancakes are great. Rye toast is fantastic. The stuffed french toast is also great. Over easy and over medium eggs are alright. In the short amount of time we were there 3 different tables either left before getting their food or had made complaints at the hostess station. Our food order was completely messed up. The macaroni and cheese tasted like box mac and cheese, the potatoes were obviously instant without any seasoning, my side salad was brought to the table after the main course and both the turkey and chicken was very dry. They don't clean between customers, food at the base of most tables and some were not wiped off. You could tell this type of thing had been going on all day because our waitress looked like she was seconds away from a breakdown. This was one of the worst places I've ever eaten at with the worst service I've ever experienced. We waited for 30 minutes or more then once it was our turn they called our name wrong so we were waiting there for nothing because they crossed our name off already. We finally got seated with our orders ready and we ordered chicken and waffles and the lady came back with a menu and told us they ran out of chicken tenders and that we would have to find something else. So I ordered hashbrowns, bacon, and toast. My mom ordered hashbrowns, toast, eggs, and bacon. When we got our food my hashbrowns were way to under cooked to eat, my bacon was pure rubber/ really fatty, and my toast was cold. The waiter brought me more hashbrowns that were a little better at least edible this time. My moms toast was also cold and her hashbrowns were uncooked, the eggs had a weird taste, her bacon wasnt cooked either. After we finished what was edible of our food, we asked our waitress to get the manager to tell her about this experience, we werent trying to get anything taken off our bill we just wanted to tell the manager how terrible our experience at her restaurant was. She showed up to our table with an attitude and then she said with an the same attitude "I'll take the bacon and the hashbrowns off." we get our bill and we walked to the counter and then there was a lobby full of costumers even though there were plenty of open booths and tables. The lady at the desk had to call our waitress over to take care of the bill. But she called the wrong waitress over. Then our waitress came over and did it. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER I went to the Ihop in east lansing,MI on Sunday July 18 ,2021 around 12:30 pm for a pick up order.( I have been going there every sunday for over 10 years now) but have never experienced such a rudeness from a team member. Upon arrival and waiting for 10 minutes, there was still no one at the curb side station nor a bell to ring . Though I said hello many times, no one even budged . I saw the kitchen door open and knocked and said hello again . The manager in the kitchen without even asking what my concern was started ranting that it was very impolite for me to knock and say hello. Instead, he wanted me to apologize for knocking and was cursing me out for that ( he did not even give me a chance to say a word as per his statement he had to many other clients to attend to waste his time listening to me ) and ended up telling to take my business somewhere else or go back and wait for I don't know how long. I was so flabagasted by his attitude , went back to the waiting area till a waiter brought me my food. I did not say a word because I did not want to challenge someone who is handling my food as we never know what may happen . As a business owner myself, that kind of customer service is inacceptable specially from people that are put in charge . What example are they showing to the other team meembers? Horrible experience. Server took at least 20 minutes to take our order. After we thought she put it through she came back to confirm our order because she couldn't read her own handwriting. About 20 minutes later she informs us that our food will be out shortly. A few minutes later, to our surprise, we were informed by another waitress that our order had never been placed because our waitress lost it! The waitress or manager that took our bill for us, told us she put a discount on and our kids would eat for free. Come to find out there are signs outside saying kids eat free all day everyday and there was no additional discount provided to us for sitting there for 90 minutes to eat food that was subpar. I came to this establishment yesterday morning on Aug. 28th. I'm gonna start with the good and finish with the not so good. The food was perfect. I would give that a 5 star. My over medium eggs were cooked perfect. Normally in Franchise establishments this big, they always over cook the eggs at least 90 percent of the time. The Service from the hostess to the waitress was good. I would give a 5 star. This next part is for mgmt or upper mgmt because the common worker has no control over this first part of the situation. When entering the place, the carpets are caped with stuff so bad, that normal cleaning duties would not even effect the looks of it. This carpet needed to be replaced years ago. Second part- Mgmt and common worker has control. The men's bathroom was so disgusting. I visited this place a couple of hours after it opened. There is no way this bathroom got this disgusting in just a few hours. From working in the restaurant business myself in previous years, the manager and workers arrive and prep the place before it opens. This is one main area that should never be neglected, especially in these covid times. It's makes no sense workers are wearing mask and social distancing tables and out of the one place that should be extra clean is filthy. It's like wiping before you poop. So when I was sitting at my table waiting on my food, I felt like chef Ramsey for a second. The carpets and the bathroom being nasty, I could only imagined how the kitchen looked and was praying that my food wasn't gonna kill me. But to my surprise, the food and service was good, at least someone saved a moment from me leaving the place. I felt dirty sitting at my table just because of those 2 things. The place was short staffed and by watching everyone, they all did there best as they could with the resources provided to them. I won't be back to this place until the carpets and other cleaning issues are handled. To whom it may concern on mgmt level, take accountability and get that shit fixed.
