This was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant, much less an IHOP. My friend and I came in around 1am and expected to be greeted by a host to be seated. We stood there for several minutes then finally called out to a young lady who was at a kiosk. She then proceed to sit us. There was only four tables/booths occupied with customers with an empty restaurant. We then proceeded to wait another 10 minutes before asking the same young lady about the service and stating that we were upset about the level of attention and service. However, this IHOP will not be seeing me ever again. I went with my sister and when our order was brought out, my plate was dirty, and there was a hair in my sister's food. UGH!! We brought this to the attention of our server and he was very apologetic. The manager seemed annoyed with us though. Our food comes out a second time, and my plate is fine and my sister is enjoying her meal when halfway through, she notices ANOTHER hair. GRRR! Blecgh! The manager comes over a second time. With a dismissive tone announces "You won't be charged for that (my sister's) plate." The guests at a nearby table who witnessed the entire exchange, from returning our plates the first time, then my sister's second hair encounter, commented on how shocked they were that we were not offered to have our entire check comped or offered gift cards to make up for such inadequate and unhygienic service. I have been to this location numerous amounts of times but I have to say this last time was the best food experience I've had at IHOP. My party of 2 and a half came in hungry on a Saturday afternoon. It was not very busy although maybe the busy wave just passed because the cleanliness of the establishment was a 2/5 at best. My mom is not the type to stay at a restaurant after being seated at a dirty table where the host didnt even attempt to clean it and the floors were dirty as well. But I convinced her to stay because I was about to turn hangry. I ordered the chicken fajita omelet with a short stack. Mother had the new pablano omelet with chicken instead of beef and some fruit. The half of our party just ate from our plates. Everything was quite delicious. They must of gotten new chickens cause the chicken was sooo good. My husband and I went there for an early breakfast around 5:30 a.m. As we were greeted, the lady had her mask on her chin walking around helping a carry out, a man dining, and walked us to our table. I thought maybe she would put the mask on but she did not. The only reason I stayed was the cook had her mask on and was very friendly. I personally did not eat but my husband did. Before serving our food, I respectfully asked her to use her face mask before serving our table. She did comply. If we are going to dine, we need to help enforce the law of wearing a mask. This location has several areas of improvement. My friends and I wouldn't have been waited on if it weren't for Darius being kind enough to take care of us. However, the food was cold when we got it and it took too long for us to get our ticket closed when we were ready to leave. I just can't do this I-hop. It's always packed with people and roaches. The people have to see the roaches because the roaches are under the ketchup and other bottles on the tables, on the backs of the booths, on the floor and in the bathrooms. I'm assuming that all those people must just be real hungry for pancakes because there is no way that they would eat at somebody house that had roaches that bad. Recently, I have been to the IHOP Cedar Hill location 3x. I love breakfast at night upon occasion. The food here is mediocre; however, this is not the reason that I chose to write this review. The service is subpar and many of the servers need remedial training. They spend a lot of time playing at the food slider, they are often loud & obnoxious, and they do not know how to handle customer concerns appropriately. 2 out of 3 visits, we have received dirty silverware and had to request plastic ware instead. We did not receive any apology from the staff. As a result of my experiences here, I will either go to a different IHOP location or go to one of my favorite breakfast restaurants called "Another Broken Egg". read more

We were camping at Cedar Hill State Park in lieu of a hotel this past weekend, as we had planned a trip to Six Flags. Not wanting to pack a lot of food (not planning to spend a lot of time at the park), we decided to eat out for breakfast. IHOP was close, and is usually fairly reliable. Meh. Yeah, that's actually been our experience at the IHOP in Austin, too, the last couple of times we've been - to the extent that it's no longer in our regular breakfast rotation. I kinda wish I'd remembered that when we chose this for breakfast, as I might have packed some oatmeal to cook. Oh, well. The food was acceptable, but only just. My eldest daughter asked for her eggs to be cooked over *medium*, but those yolks were definitely over *easy* (which is how I like 'em, but not her). My youngest barely ate any of her own breakfast (she ordered the Silver Five), although that might have been more from anticipation of the day to come than a commentary on the quality of the food. Their dad had an omelette, which he ate without comment. I had the Cinnamon French Toast, which was an interesting twist on a classic. Too sweet for my taste, though, which I should have forseen. The bacon was pretty tasty, although just a bit too crispy. Our server was attentive enough, although it sure seemed to take a very l-o-n-g time between placing our order and receiving our food. The coffee, though. If not for the coffee, this would probably be a three star review. It really was horrible. I'm not a coffee snob, but... wow. It was bad enough that we actually opted to SKIP breakfast on Sunday and just grab coffee from a gas station on the way home! read more
