This is the 2nd time I received above excellent service from the Cedar Hill IHOP.. Therefore, I decided to write this review. 2 separate visits.... Same manager Ms Laketha went above and beyond any service I've ever received from a restaurant. Both times she addressed my concerns beyond my expectations. I visit ihop frequently and all ihop managers are good. However Ms Laketha demonstrated she is locked in on providing the best dining experience for her patrons. Visit the Cedar Hill IHOP. My food was good and the service was satisfactory. However, an incident occurred that caused me significant concern for the safety of both customers and employees. Approximately 2-3 weeks ago, a man entered the restaurant yelling and demanding to speak with the manager, Lekitha. During the confrontation, he repeatedly shouted, "Bring the money, b**ch," and also threatened to "shoot up the restaurant." Those were the exact words I heard.Rather than the situation being immediately de-escalated, a loud verbal exchange took place inside the restaurant between the individual and the manager, creating a disruptive and alarming scene in front of customers. As a parent, I felt unsafe and immediately gathered my children and left the establishment. Due to this incident, I have not returned. As we were leaving, I observed the manager outside speaking with the individual, apologizing to him, and hugging him. I do not know the nature of their relationship, but the interaction gave the impression that they were familiar with one another. My primary concern is the manner in which a serious threat of violence was handled in a public setting with customers present. The incident left me concerned about the safety and security of the restaurant. I believe this matter warrants review to ensure appropriate safety procedures are being followed and to prevent similar situations from occurring in the future. Especially before I return! read more

We were greeted after several minutes . We waited for over 20 minutes and were completely ignored. Guests who were seated after us had food on the table when we finally left. Tull had a fairly decent breakfast sampler and ihop pancakes are always good but the chicken tenders I ordered were criminal. If I had been in the restaurant I'd have sent them back and I never do that. And it wasn't because the food was delivered, the breading was weird looking and they were way over cooked. For the life of me, I never can understand slow and inattentive service when a restaurant it's not busy. When I walked into IHOP, I stood at the counter , Waiting to be seated, and a woman came in after me stood behind me. As the host walk back up to the counter, she did not agree anyone instead she says. " who was first" No hello, no smile no customer service. The woman behind me points to me and they seat me. My server comes over and I already knew what I wanted to eat which was a crêpe combo. Swedish crapes eggs over easy and bacon. I noticed a lot of servers standing around and even a crowd of people in the kitchen, however took 45 minutes for my food to come out and it was cold. I never drank my water, because there was something floating in it, and there was something stuck to the outside of my glass. My plates were also dirty on the bottom. I was so hungry I did eat the potatoes and eggs room temperature but I was not going to settle for a cold crêpe so I asked her to take it back and she offered to put it in the microwave. I told her no ma'am I would like a fresh crêpe . I am new to this area, so I hope that the service will get better because I enjoy going to IHOP but I didn't enjoy this experience . read more

Stopped @ this IHOP in Cedar Hill when coming back into town for brunch!! We were seated immediately!! Our server was a very personable , courteous & efficient young man, who anticipated our needs & checked on us periodically!! If you go to this IHOP, you should request Tyler King for your server!! The food was delicious--hot, & cooked to perfection!! We always order the breakfast sampler. The coffee was also hot & warmed us up on a cold, windy & wet Friday!! I have mixed feelings when making a review about this establishment, especially this particular location (Cedar Hill).. when dinning in I seriously and almost never have any issues whatsoever. Now there's a huge difference when placing my orders Togo . It's almost as though they have not one care or appreciation for their Togo clientele/customers. I frequent here and I have been a regular for over a decade. Ive enjoy always my dine in experience despite the delay on food delivery depending on the day of the week. I gave 3 stars for my in house service . Food is always fresh and hot disregarding the wait time for food arrival . But the lack of 2 stars is targeted at the Togo department. This location has went downhill. I use to love this location. Service is slow as hell. Tables are dirty. This can't be the same staff. The place wasn't crowded but it took forever for the food to come out. The red hair greeter looked like she didn't want to work and had an attitude. Now if you are a man her attitude was more pleasant. The cook was in the back whistling I guess for the waitress to pick up the order. It's very annoying. If they don't fix any of this I can see this place closing. They need a clean up service crew so the waitresses don't have to do it all. Coffee and orange juice was watered down. We decided to stop at this location since it was on our way to our house. It is not our first here we usually get a good server but tonight was not the day. We usually go to the one in Waxahachie. Terrible, terrible, terrible. Gave us plastic silverware when there was clearly real silverware in sight. Oh, and not to forget that they didn't give it to us once we sat. The waiters were kind of annoyed and not very happy. They completely ignored us when we asked for things and we're rude when we asked for real silverware. The food was like always but I am concerned about the cleanliness of the kitchen, it's not terrible but could be cleaner. Overall, do not come here, it's not worth it. Edit: The waitress also didn't give us silverware until we asked. Also, one of the servers was wearing inappropriate clothing, and the manager didn't do anything about it. This is probably the worst IHOP I have been to. Was in the waiting lobby area for 10+ minutes. Saw a customer go up to the hot plate to get his own meal after waiting himself for over 10 minutes. Waiter didn't seat up a line cook did. There were two waiters and only 7 tables with max 2 people per table. No one asked if we wanted a drink. We were sitting for 10+ minutes and another customer had to grab a waiter and point out we haven't even been asked what we would like to drink. Waiter said he couldn't take our order. We left. We stopped in at the Cedar Hill location today following tests I had at the hospital. There weren't many people in the restaurant at the time (@ 12:00) but we had to wait a few minutes to be seated as they were seriously short staffed. The lady who seated us, Renee, was one of the most pleasant and hard working servers we have encountered in a long time. She seated us, took our drink and food orders and kept checking to see if we needed anything. On top of all of that, she was restocking coffee cups and glasses, making fresh coffee, cleaning up the drink service area, cleaning other tables and doing it all with a smile and a pleasant attitude! iHop has a gem of a worker in Renee at this location and I hope they know it! read more

I have visited the IHOP Restaurants for many years, and I must sadly say that I cannot believe how poorly some of their locations are being managed. Last night my fiancé and I visited...not just one location...but 2 locations AND in 2 different locations AND 25 miles away from each other. Now this is the sad part: the first one didn't have but 2 staffers...yep only 2. One to cook and one to clean tables. So, this Dallas location only took takeout orders; NO dine-in. So, we leave and head to another location in Grand Prairie. Now they had the staffing BUT only orange juice and apple juice instead of the cranberry juice that I wanted. Then to add insult to injury, they didn't have any veggie patties for the Impossible Burger that I also wanted. So, we left and went to Burger King about 5 miles east (Dallas location) for their Impossible Whopper and had it OUR way and it was sooooo delicious! Ok so, I tried calling the Dallas IHOP but no one answered the phone (why am I not surprised???). IHOP franchise, y'all have got to do better. Guess it's back to Dennys. read more

I feel that there is always an issue when I come here. If it's not the service, then it's the food not being prepared correctly. If it's neither of those things, then it's the lack of clean tables, or a dirty restroom. It's never just okay, but since we're often too lazy to go to Norma's or the IHOP in Lancaster, we come here. I guess we deserve it. My last two visits were particularly epic. During a recent visit, our server was clearly angry. After having forgotten our drink orders and the flatware we'd requested, she came back to our table and stared at us. After several seconds passed, I asked if she was there to take our orders. She angrily nodded in the affirmative, but as we each ordered, I noticed that she wasn't writing anything down. I sarcastically asked if she would remember what we'd ordered, and she rudely said, "yes, I'll remember". In case you're wondering, she remembered every detail of our orders. Nah, I'm just kidding. She forgot nearly everything, and I have a sneaking suspicion that she deliberately entered mine incorrectly because I'd dared to point out her nasty attitude. We noticed her leaving the building shortly after she stormed away from our table, and we were left to fend for ourselves. After our incorrect orders arrived, I talked to a manager, who was very nice and apologetic, as though she is used to cleaning up the messes this particular server creates. She comped our meals, and gave us one of the best servers this location has ever had. Friendly, attentive, checked on us, wrote things down, etc. I made sure to give him a big tip before we left. I went back to redeem my free full stack a little over a week later. It was a to-go order, so I sat up front and waited. As I waited, I saw the same server, whom, for unknown reasons, spent several seconds staring at me. I calmly stared back, wondering how long it would last. I swear that chick glared at me for a full minute. She never said anything. She never changed her facial expression. She just glared at me as though I had walked up to her and said she looked like a dog. She had to lower her head to even see me through the partition that separates the kitchen from the lobby, so given how much effort she put into trying to intimidate or upset me, I take it that she was reprimanded for her behavior during my last visit and was quite angry. My bad for not taking her abuse in stride, I guess. And to the gentleman talking about Millennials, over half of the staff is in high school. They're constituents of Gen-Z, and aren't Millennials. read more

However I soon found out the line was so long because the restaurant hostess was no where to be found. I waited twenty minutes before anyone came up to the front. I waited my turn and asked to place a to go order - she told me I would need to wait for another employee (okay no problem) however no one ever came. I saw a young lady bringing door dash order to the front (she seems friendly and approachable). I asked if she could take my order and finally I was assisted. I needed my annual reminder of how bad is this IHOP. I would give it zero stars if I could. Why did I go back? I was hungry for blueberry pancakes and did not want to drive to Grand Prairie or Lancaster. Tables were dirty, one server for the entire restaurant with two other guys standing around doing very little, and the kitchen was SLOW, slow, slow...as in, taking our order took 20 minutes followed by a 45-minute wait for food, and then the pancakes came out before the rest of the order. To make matters worse, my blueberry pancakes were raw on the inside with completely raw dough oozing out when I cut into them. After 20 minutes of waiting for the rest of our order to follow the pancakes, we left without receiving food. Every time I order online from the place they "claim" their systems went down and you end up waiting a significant amount of time for your order. They never compensate you for your wasted time and act as if they don't care you've been waiting already half an hour and they expect you to wait an additional half an hour. The food was decent. That's wasn't the problem was with the service. I order a smokehouse combo and asked for a waffle instead of pancakes. Got my food without the waffle. The pancakes weren't nice and fluffy but rather sad looking and rushed. My original Waitress left and had a new to help me but heard the previous waitress say we'll he didn't get his waffle so I'm taking it with me. When I asked the new waitress about the 4 dollar waffle I didn't receive she informed me that they ran my card already and I can get another one made or ask for a refund, I did.
