This is a bit late but I came by for the 2 year anniversary and it was such a fun time! I was looking to get my very first bike and wasn't sure what I was looking for / needed. Alexa was a great help at both helping me meet my needs and fit within my budget. I went with a used Cannondale bike and it was in lovely shape. The shop had it all fixed up and up to par. They even installed the rack on for me that I bought. The prices were more than fair, as i ended up getting all my needed accessories here too. All the staff i talked to were friendly and guided me through the various of options of what I was looking for. This shop is a great part of the community and I am glad I got my first bike here! read more

Igor Does My Bike was a lifesaver when I noticed one of my tires losing air quickly and it was a random Sunday. Igor's was one of a few bike shops that was open on Sunday. I was able to get my bike looked at right away, the employee I spoke to told me to come right over. The inside of the shop is spacious and they have a handful of seats for customers awaiting bike repairs. The inside of the shop was pack but I was able to speak with someone right away. The employees were very friendly and willing to educate me on my bike issue. The employee was able to figure out my issue quickly as well as do a general bike inspection. Not only does Igor's do bike repairs, they sale bike accessories. I was finally able to purchase a bike basket! Due to my bike structure the employee was able to help me find the right basket for my bike. I will definitely continue to bring my bike to Igor's! I met some cool people from the neighborhood and never felt like they were trying to upsell me for other services or unnecessary accessories. read more

And then I bought a BIKE from Igor! My bike was stolen, so back I go to Igor. He's got a lot of refurbished used bikes that would be good for any level. He's also now a dealer of NEW Brooklyn Bikes - which is a great brand! I had been looking at these online, and when I heard Igor stocked them, it was a no brainer. Back in Massachusetts, I got a flat tire; the tube was replaced, and the bike ran fine; it became flat again in a couple months. I took it to a different shop. When third-time-a-charm flat rolled (flattened?) around, I tried replacing the tube myself. Guess what? Flat again! I thought I did a poor job, and brought it to Igor's for repair. A cross-country move had also tangled my chain and possibly wreaked other havoc, so professional repair was needed. I don't remember what the part is called, but the reason for my recurring flats was a protective liner between the tube and the spokes. Had one of the previous two shops caught it, I wouldn't have been saddled (pun not intended) with constant flats! In terms of the other damage, Igor untangled the chain and then did a fantastic job showing me what needed service. At drop off, it was the flat (obv), and a derailleur hanger. Other items would need work eventually (worn chain, gears, general tune-up), but as I only asked to make the bike safe, and not brought to like-new, these were more of an FYI, and no pressure was involved. Finally, what sealed the deal for me isn't that Igor noticed an issue two previous shops didn't, but that when the bike was being worked on, the mechanic realized the derailleur hanger could be bent back into shape, and didn't need to be replaced. It would have been easy to replace the part, bill the parts and labor, and I would have been none-the-wiser. Yet, honesty like this deserves recognition and praise. With this, Igor's just cemented a customer for life (unless I move out of Chicago). With a bike that is ~15 years old, and maintenance items I know there will be other repairs and maintenance items needed. read more

I happened upon this bike shop last summer causally strolling from Uptown to Edgewater for lunch. My finance and I stopped to check out the inventory of bikes available. Staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. While we didn't make a purchase that day I knew we'd be back. Fast forward, both of us eventually purchased a bike! It made sense since we enjoyed using the Divvy bikes but agreed that they can be expensive! Besides, I became increasingly interested in commuting to work via bike. My July 4th weekend bike ride almost ended before it began when my front tire blew out. Despite the sweltering heat, I was determined to get back on the road. I headed to Igor Does My Bike, mistakenly thinking they were open until 6:00 PM based on a text. I arrived at 5:30 PM to find the shop closed. But then, a stroke of luck! I saw someone inside, tapped on the window, and out came Peter. Even though the shop had closed at 5:00 PM, he generously asked what was wrong. When I told him about my blown tire, he immediately said, "No worries, I'll fix it for you!" Peter, you're a lifesaver and truly embody the spirit of Igor Does My Bike. My most recent experiences with Igor's competent work - and exceptionally quick turn-around for repairs - has inspired me to leave another 5-star review here. I can only hope that Yelp's designation my previous enthusiastic review as "not recommended" won't carry forward to this one also. I don't know why they do that. That designation by Yelp is not fair to me, a customer who has taken time to let other customers know of my satisfaction with his work. It's not fair to possible new customers of his who need to know if he does good work. And it's not fair to Igor, who has spent over a decade as a private independent bike mechanic providing the service in his new bike shop. been going to this shop for over a year now: every experience has been efficient, friendly, and left me very happy as a customer. i stopped in today because i lost my key after i locked my bike lock to my bike - they offered to break the lock off for a very modest fee and got the job done in less than 10 minutes. employees are helpful and caring! read more

Awesome shop! Had to search around to try and find a shop that could fix a headset. Found great reviews in Igor's and they seemed experienced from what I read. Shop is about 1/2 hour away so I had to drive the bike there as the issue was unrideable. They were able to diagnose a a very specific headset issue that another shop could not. It was missing a very specific shim. Very knowledgeable bike people. Great people, great service at a great price, what else could you want? Highly recommend and will be using for all my bike needs in the future. read more

I was in a bike accident last fall and when I decided I was ready to ride again I took my mangled mess to Igor last week. He expertly checked the frame for fractures and stress and all other parts of the bike for damage. Luckily the frame was sound and the other issues were minor.
