The morning was bright and sunny. Our group of seven got geared up, and three of us jumped into a plane with our instructors, while the others waited for the next plane. My instructor's name was Adam, and he was scheduled to get married on the following Friday. So he said that jumping with me was the easiest thing he had to do all week! Adam made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. I never felt any fear, even when I was sitting with my legs dangling out of the plane at 13,000 feet. Adam's instructions were clear and concise. I got to pull my own ripcord and steer the parachute for a bit before it was time to land. I want to thank Skydive Chicago (and especially Adam) for an incredible experience. I hope the wedding went well, and I wish Adam and his new wife many years of happiness. I'll skydive again, and I will head back to Skydive Chicago to do it!

Good company and great weather for a jump, so no worries. Check in was a breeze; there were so MANY waivers to sign then a quick safety video to watch. Listen for your name to be called over the speakers then meet up in the hanger for rules and harness strapping. If you paid for the photo/video package, get ready for your interview. I signed up to jump 9,000 feet but was told that jump was for babies. 14,000 feet would feel like I really did something. Of course, I am giving a look like "this is my first time". But, I smiled and paid an extra 50$ to do a REAL jump. Up in the air we reviewed the training from the hanger. No time to be scared because everything happened so fast. The view is amazing; jumping through the clouds was priceless. I had an amazing coach; Nate. Ask for him. He's got jokes too. Afterwards, we were starving! They give you FREE beer or wine after your jump. It's a celebration, trust me, if you jump, you earned it. The food was amazing. Looking forward to my next jump.

Check in was friendly, although a bit confusing between the online ordering and the additional options that were being offered upon arrival. In addition to the safety video to watch at home, the instructor was very thorough with what to do and the different hand signals since there wouldn't be any talking once inside the tunnel prior to the fly. After suiting up and the instructions, the fun began. I think this is the one time in life when a minute doesn't fly by. There was an option to add more fly time at the end too. The finale includes the instructor showing off with a couple minutes of cool stunts. The option for video is a must for remembering this extra special experience. If you do love it, a special is offered to buy packages at steep discounts that never expire. Overall I can see why people would love this experience and would come back for more. It's not cheap but it's also not something you get to do everyday!

You enter, sign in and complete your waivers. You also have to be weighed. Total check in was about 10 mins. Joe was the best hype man to get you ready for the day. Next, you go to the equipment counter and get all the essentials; suit, helmet etc. you and your group have a mini educational segment with your instructor. Here you learn more about what Ifly is and not. Most importantly you learn the hand signals. JJ was a nice instructor. Totally organized the session to meet all the needs and gave follow up after the first flight to improve the experience. Last stop is the tunnel. I opted for just 2 flights but one of going all the way to the top. So much fun. Once the flight group is done you exit to de-robe and can learn about additional classes. You receive your flight certificate. Again, a cool way to spend an hour or so. It was a nice adventure to celebrate my birthday and I would certainly go back.

Everything was organized and clean. We were the only patrons there. Service: we made the reservation on the phone. I forgot the name of our guy, but he's in the photos. He was very nice and related well to the teens. He was patient and even gave us a session for free when we had a misunderstanding. I would want him again if we came back to this location. Overall: The only reason I give this 4 stars instead of 5 is because is it just so expensive. I don't regret it because I know my nephew loved it, but it's definitely a splurge that is reserved for once in a while. Although I do have to say, the more you do it, the cheaper the price goes. You should do it at least once! The kids LOVED it.

At the first stop we saw the dried up I and M canal where the only mention of ghosts was that the workers who died building the canal were buried in the canal. The highlight of this stop was the washroom in the old toll house. Second stop was a tiny graveyard next to a truck weigh station. We saw where Tom's family was buried. Last stop we saw the grave of a Texan who had been killed in the Civil War. There was nothing ghostly about this tour. Either the Ottawa area has nothing to offer in this regard and this tour doesn't need to exist. Or this tour operator should rename this tour. Not sure what I'd call it. As a history buff, I have taken other graveyard tours and they were far more interesting. One tour I took had graveside reenactments of the people buried there. In this case, it's hard to believe they charge $35 per person for so little information. What may be a well meaning venture to promote Ottawa's history was not a ghostly graveyard tour.

Things I wish I had known: be prepared to wait ALL day. We waited about 6 hours to get suited up to jump because of the wind gusts. We were scheduled at 1:30pm and probably didn't wear the harness until 7pm. I'd be prepared to keep yourself occupied, bring food or relieve yourself from the premise, but don't stray too far! This seems to be a pretty common thing, so as a first time jumper, it was difficult with my preconceived expectations until I talked to another skydiver. Why four stars? We had some schedule issues arise which set a somewhat unsettling tone for the rest of our experience since we were on a time crunch due to one member in the party relocating. The re-booking didn't happen NOT once, but twice to us (not weather related too)! However, I do have to say Eric/the business did accommodate us to our needs. It was frustrating during the process, but we managed to get in on the very last day possible. Eric communicated very well through the re-bookings.
