Fun spot to burn off some energy. Randomly have stopped by a few times midweek...when it is far less crowded and grabbed a Groupon to make it more affordable and for that price it's not bad at all. Sure certain areas are closed at certain times but while we are usually there they eventually open them up. Not had any issues. A lot of the equipment you can tell has been used pretty good, but just like with anything still should watch your littles at all times. I would try to avoid weekends if possible. Lots of parking. This place is awesome, but it's fallen into disrepair. My kids had a great time and we spent close to 4 hours here, but I have some real issues. The good: - Once your kids get the hang of the self-latch system, they'll be able to climb safely without close supervision. - There are lots and lots of climbing walls and some have unique features. It's very entertaining for climbers over 48". - They have a drinking fountain. - They have hand sanitizer dispensers. The bad: - Many areas were shut down. We couldn't do the ninja course because "something is leaking from the ceiling" in one of the areas. Some features on the climbing walls (like the wheel you turn to bring a trapeze thing closer to a ledge) are broken. - They are severely understaffed. When we visited on Monday, Aug. 11, the ropes course was only open for a few minutes, as was the wall-hang slide. Because those areas require employees and there weren't enough people to work them, they were closed off for the bulk of our visit. - It's a bit expensive. I feel like I'd pay the $30 per kid if they had access to everything, but between the broken attraction and the areas shut down because of staffing issues, the price felt steep. - There's not a lot of seating available if you're a parent who just wants to watch. There are a few benches, but you can't see large sections of Funtopia when you're sitting there. I was hoping to do some work on my laptop, but there were no tables near the benches. - If you leave, you cannot re-enter once you leave the building, so hunger may become an issue as outside food is not allowed. I'd love to come back here with my kids, but I hope they have enough staff to keep all the attractions running and I hope they fix the "something leaking" on the ninja course. I got the sense that this was a place run by teenagers and the owners may be absent or uninvolved. read more

I took my kids to Funtopia a couple of years ago and loved it so much that my daughter wanted to have her birthday party there. We just wanted a simple, midday party that included use of the slide, so I bought a basic party package. Their website states that it includes 'exclusive use of slide for all guests' and table setup, plates, napkins, utensils, and cups. The day of my daughter's party was very busy and overbooked. They called several other parties for the slide, but my daughter's party was never called so they never got to use it. When the slide was in use, they closed the high ropes course (which was the entire time of her party). My daughter and her friends weren't able to use the slide or high ropes course. They were so disappointed! When it was time for cake, I asked our hostess for plates to serve it on. Our hostess refused to give us any, saying we would have to purchase more food if we wanted plates. I had to scrounge up tiny napkins to serve the cake on. I called a few days after the party to inform them of our situation and hopefully get compensation. The manager tried to say the slide and plates weren't included in our package. After checking the website and admitting it does say use of slide is included, she responded that I should have bought a more expensive package if I wanted to use the slide. She said exclusive use of the slide is only for Ultimate parties and the package I purchased only includes use of the slide if available to general public. It does not say this anywhere in the description of the package I purchased. I have included a screenshot directly from the website. Then she hung up on me! I have never encountered someone so rude! This is honestly the worst customer service I've ever experienced. My advice, do NOT book a party here! My poor daughter's special day was ruined at this place. read more

Came here to attend a birthday party scheduled 10:45 am. Manager told us the party actually starts at 11 am and the time in the confirmation email was a typo and they can't let us in although it's 10:45 am already. Manager didn't want to solve the issue at all. No alternatives provided and didn't feel bad at all for their own mistakes. The level of customer service was pathetic. Funtopia is a kids play spot that lives up to its name - it's FUN! You can easily spend several hours here and any one of any age is going to enjoy themselves. When you first walk in you will be amazed at what they offer - nearly everything is climbable! And nearly any age can partake! The limiting factor is your appendage length and fear level. The entire place is based around a harness system that is implemented very well. The auto-belays cannot be fully connected and disconnected unless they are properly engaged. It makes for a basically fool-proof safety method. How it works is: you find something you want to climb, you clip in, you climb! That's it! There are varying levels of challenges but all are really fun. Additionally they have a "ropes" course high above the floor, a giant slide, and a "ninja" area (that doesn't need a harness). TONS of options for HOURS of fun. We spent a few hours there on a Saturday morning and had a blast. Once we (all) were worn out we departed for lunch. They do have food onsite but it isn't really "full-meal" worthy. (note: they say there is no re-entry once you leave) In addition to general admission there are party rooms for birthdays/events. There are so many employees sitting around, but they sent all the kids through the rope course at once without an employee in the middle or at the end. When the kid behind mine pushed the platform my son was stepping off of and he burst into tears because he got scared - the boys mother and grandmother burst into prolonged laughter at a crying child. As there were zero employees watching the course - we had to get an employee to help him - while my child got laughed at. People suck and that can't be helped, but holy crap- have someone at LEAST the exit watching the kids. Not a cheap place, we had a birthday party the sever came with Manager named Allyson and when they placed the party food a Hair was found from the women, And pizza was cold NOT even warm. we took the hair to the manager Allyson with and she responded with an attitude again and on top of that they didn't provide utensils NO napkins. On top of that we try to use the restrooms and there is no paper towels anywhere. Horrible service. No paper in the men's bathroom. Even as the place was rented COMPLETLY. When doing the Waver they also kept asking again for our name multiple times when we had just spoken to them. Gotta say I was pleasantly surprised with this place! When I went into the toddler room, I was very concerned. It is just a hodgepodge of Little Tykes toys and such that you pay $10 to pay for. I was a bit nervous that my grandchildren might have a rough time with the walls. My latter confirms we're totally unfounded! This establishment was well run! Employees were on top of teaching my grandkids how to use the harnesses. I filled one of the team members in on the fact that my oldest grandson is DD and they were there to help him. Funtopia Napervillle is the perfect place to do this. It is a franchise, but with few locations in the Midwest. This location excels! Funtopia Napervillle offers: -Daily climbing options, must book ahead; this place is very busy and for good reason! Use their website; it is very organized and trustworthy. Must complete waivers for each climber before starting experience. -STEAM-based day camps for children during local Winter and Spring times. We haven't tried yet, but plan to enroll my 3 kiddos for this Spring Break 2019 session. Exciting! -Birthday parties for children. We haven't done one yet, but plan to do so! -Most importantly, an excellent opportunity for exercise and trust-building for people of all ages! They had a good time, but, the grodiness of this place is utterly disgusting. It seems a nice place. I'd give it a great review if it were clean. I understand that any place with kids playing may be odoresque, but, they just do not keep it clean. This would be a cause for concern for the maintenance that needs to be done to the harnesses and safety equipment here. I thought it was a little dead for a weekend. Funtopia owners. I was pretty disappointed to pay for all day passes and be told I can't leave the facility to eat real food and come back. All thru summer the kids and I would go out to McDs and come back for another hour or so. The food is terrible here to eat as a meal and usually out of stock or expired. I'm not sure if I can support this facility anymore. It's too expensive to just work up an appetite after an hour or so and be told you can't leave and come back. There is more to do with your children around Naperville. Again I used to support and recommend very frequently until today and this "new change" in policy. Ropes course - fun for little kids under 10 and 3. Ninja course - you can play for 30 minutes or 60 or 120 minutes. 120 is plenty of time. Need to work out 1. Pricing model - especially for birthdays. $24.95 for one slice of pizza? Come on 2. More adults- run by kids. Who are fairly responsible but like kids like to hang out and be on the phone 3. Food options. Okay but seems slow and expensive. Can't bring in outside food. Should be allowed to because more people will come and no one is really buying anything from concessions. 4. Need to make the skateboard easier on the ropes course. Basically you need two individuals to pull it because it is very stiff. Now the good stuff 1. We got there at 10 am on Sunday and there was no one there - around 11 the crowd picked up. 2. Kids will get tired and have a ton of fun 3. Neat and clean and well lit 4. Easy to use harness. At other ropes courses it takes forever. This is an easy clip system that doesn't require any assistance 5. Great concept. 6. The wall climbs are fun 7. They have a play area for little ones 8. Plenty of benches for sitting 9. No need to pay extra for the slide. Not worth it and none of the kids care. Had about 30 kids and no one cared 10. Bring gloves for kids with sensitive hands. Especially if your going to be there for a few hours. 11. Eat a big meal or snack before hand 12. Ropes course takes 5-6 minutes to complete the whole thing. 13. This place is absolutely horrible. I will never go here again. I would give zero stars if possible. The managers are terrible. They make up rules to create a issue. Threaten to kick out customers who question the made up rules. Obstacle course staff is rudely yell at guests. Manager Bridgett and Daniel go out of their way to make things difficult. Pricey, but fun. We went and lucky for us it was not crowded. I made a reservation before coming to make sure we had a spot. This is an adult friendly and a great way to interact with the kids. I did it for an hour and I was sweating bullets haha. There is a lot of different wall climbing walls, a rope course, ninja warriors course (I found this harder than it looks) and a slide drop(you have to pay an extra 3 bucks). I like that adults can walk around and watch your children while they play. I like that you can clip in and clip out of the wall climbing (better for the older kids, smaller kids will have some trouble). If you have workout gloves I would suggest you bringing them. So why three stars? After paying 24 bucks for 2 hours per child I felt like the slide should of been free, everything else was included why not the slide. The food is over priced, a little over 3 bucks for a hot dog, no thank you. The ninja course could be monitored a little better as kids where just doing what they wanted in there. They also have no lockers to put your stuff in. Overall, I would come again only if it isn't crowded, I think you get your true money's worth that way. I have to thank Bridget for making our birthday parties seamless and successful!! We had both of our girls birthday parties and Funtopia and we are already planning the next one :) She made our party planning so simple and stress free, she had it all under control! She is the definition of a hard worker, she is also such a warm and caring person that goes above and beyond! The entire time she was running around asking if we needed anything else, if there was enough food, enough drinks :) She was on top of it. We have been to other places and the host is never this efficient. We had to change both of our birthday parties due to our kids being sick and was able to make the change right away. She even came to host our last party on the day she was supposed to be off of work! She is honestly the greatest, my husband and I are so thankful! Brand new and such a cool place. Really cool concept and such a fun activity for kids who like to climb. Really creative walls. There's a bean stalk to climb and adorable rock walls. Docking one star for not enough training. We came in on a Sunday and were the only two adults with a 3 year old. There were way too many staffers just watching us struggle with the levers vs taking the initiative to help us. Plus the young girl put our daughters harness on upside down....that's not acceptable when your whole business is climbing. Lastly IMO the giant slide is not intended for young kids. When I told the manager about what happened I expected more than the response I received. I didn't appreciate paying for extra time when 1/2 the time we were correcting their mistakes or struggling to learn the levers. They are in a random strip mall and if they want more foot traffic they should have positioned their walls in the windows. I will say we typically go to the Glenview location and it's amazing. This place had a Groupon, so we went. There's no option on site to reserve a time without paying. Three emails and multiple phone calls and voicemails never got answered. (The manager said that's normal, they're busy) so we went in the morning hoping for the best. The waiver kiosk was glitching. After the second time (adding three kids each time) they said that was normal and to do it on my phone. Ok. While we were taking, some lady chimed in I was taking too long and instead of telling her their computers were down, they let her cut in line while I waited some more. The manager is about 15 years old, so is everyone else working. The workers that are supposed to clip and unclip the kids are walking around actively ignoring them. Super annoyed when they actually end up helping someone. Since I have three kids, I ran around helping the younger two, otherwise they'd sit and fiddle with it until I got there. Most times no staff member is in sight. Facility is dirty. The Groupon was super cheap but I would never do that again. My kids all asked to leave and go to the "good one". Rude, bored, disinterested staff, no wonder they didn't get back to me for two weeks, it seems a high school after school club is running this place and they're only interested in getting their shift over with. I finally took my kids here just a few weeks ago using an expired Groupon and by the time we were done, I was kicking myself for not going sooner. They didn't want to leave and we were there 2 hours! On the way home they were asking me when they could come back! One of the things that made it a pleasant experience for me (I didn't climb this time, maybe next time!) was one of the assistants named Alyssa. She helped fit my kids into their gear and when we had to go back for minor adjustments, she was patient and kind each time, and I really appreciated that. Great job, Funtopia! Had my daughters 8th birthday on Friday night the front seat staff were so rude, not helpful one worker was on her cell phone and every time I asked something felt like I was bothering them! Party name was never called to go to the room after 10min we went to the room party host was not there no pizza we waited and then Pizza was over cooked and came out one at a time for 20 girls! Then while my daughter was opening her gift the host came up and said I needed to pay right then and there when we still had 20min in the room.
