Going along with my decision that *this* is the year that I try every. thing. ISky, of course, had to be part of that. Adrenaline is my friend!! It's pricey. Can't lie. For a rented jumper, earplugs, goggles, a helmet and for those like me wearing improper footwear, a pair of Airwalks to borrow, a video clip to keep, a couple of "in flight" pics and *only* TWO minutes of fun, it came to $100 a person. You take a short class first. --watching a video on proper form, leaving time to ask questions. You get a locker for your valuables. You then suit up and they make sure everything fits properly. Instructors are super helpful. Once you're inside, they are there to both ensure you are safe and of course to HAVE FUN!! I will definitely do this again! Who knows? My family went here for the first time and I would like to say that the entire staff was very friendly and helpful. My kids' instructor was Henry and he was fabulous - he was a lot of fun! My older daughter enjoyed it very much but my younger daughter who is almost 10 years old felt quite dizzy and a little nauseated after the experience. I feel that it was still well worth trying. We took our grandson for an urban experience while he was visiting the Chicago area. Grandpa tried it too. I couldn't tell from the marketing that the price is for two 60-second floats. Given the skill of the instructor, the personal gear, and the costs for the tunnel itself, I think that's reasonable. But I'm not sure I would have paid full price and driven an hour to get there if I'd known the floats would be so brief. I was put-off by the add-ons when we arrived. I thought we were ready to go, but staff asked about a "high flight" add-on that was expensive given the cost of what we'd already paid (about $1 per second). It makes sense not to include this in the package for first-time floaters because it's hard to know how a person will respond to the wind pressure and the motion. I just wish there had been more obvious info about this upfront so I could anticipate the price. We took a bunch of photos ourselves (see two posted), which I appreciated being able to do. The package also comes with some photos and videos that you can grab from online. Alas, the online media didn't become available the same day. When it did display, the times and the names were all wrong for the entire day. So we had to manually go through all of the flight videos for the whole day in order to find ours. The "flight certificates" weren't available that day because they were out of paper. I contacted a month later and was told I could come and pick them up, but a two-hour drive isn't worth it. Bummer. Overall, I'd pay for this again for the uniqueness of the experience, but with more consumer-savvy on the prices and products. The staff was great and the instructor was super-patient. The best part for me as a spectator was watching the instructor's own demo at the end. WOW! read more

I've wanted to do this with my boys for a long time. I bought them in Groupon. I called the place because I was having difficulty with on line reservations. She never told me to get there one hour before flight time. So we were booked for 6:30. At 6:35 I start getting calls asking where I was. So they said you must be here for check in one hour before flight time. I told her that would've been good to know when I made the reservations. She bumped us to 8:30. We checked in at 7:30 and I was not happy with all of the extra costs for add-ons. This was more than $1 per second and they said oh if you want to go high up that's more. So, I paid extra for my kids to go high up during their second flight. I don't like any deception as a consumer. You pay the money and think that covers it all, especially when it's so expensive. So the instructors were great. My boys absolutely loved it. Four stars for not giving me critical info of being there one hour early, extra add ons at check in. Also going high was only going up about mid-range....they do NOT take you all the way up to the top. You go higher but only slightly higher. Our instructor Logan was good with the kids. Interesting experience. Not so much "skydiving" as "fan-floating", but we were also newbs so we couldn't do anything fancy. It was still a fun experience to float, though. I'm docking a star for the annoying business model. We bought the $50 "delux super saver" package, which, we later found out, was good for two minutes of fan-floating airtime. The man at the front desk basically told us our package was hot garbage and we should pay an additional $40 each to upgrade to the less crappy "delux package." We declined. The instructor then gave us our instructions, and was very adamant that we should try the "high-fly experience" for an additional $20. He must have mentioned this frickin upgrade at least three times during the five minute lesson. Like I said, 4/5 for the fan floating, but 3/5 for the bitter taste of failed upsells. read more

I'm not sure whether the present was the indoor skydiving or watching me freak out. I enjoyed this, but I would not do it again. My 11 year old guest, who was going to participate in this experience with my 11 year old son, well was denied the opportunity because his mother arrived 15 mins late. I felt horrible. The GM is Evil. I do believe he was biased towards our group as well. The Instructors were amazing and tried to accommodate us, however That GM abused his authority and denied an 11 year old African American child the experience of a life time.The kid had to painfully watched everyone else participate. WARNING: You're not going to get the fun experience you think you're paying for when you signed up remotely. Maybe you bought a gift certificate for yourself or kids at Costco or at the mall, but you're only paying 50 dollars per person for two one minute sessions where you barely leave the ground. You get hit up for more money once you walk in the front door. It costs more money to go up high during your first two 1 minute trips. Then, you get hit up for more money and more time during your visit. And, finally, you get hit up afterwards for discounted return visits. For 20 dollars a minute, they'll let you stay all day i guess. BUT, we were at the Naperville location on Sunday 11/20/2020 and IT SMELLED SO BAD!!!! They had a HUGE sewage or mold or stagnant water smell, totally rotten. I cant believe the building was approved for occupancy. Barely fun, ruined by the awful smell, felt like a "John" being constantly hit up for money. read more

My experience may have been a little unusual, but I did not experience this activity as enjoyable. I experienced it as windy and physically uncomfortable. It was hard to breathe and my body felt stressed in the way it feels when I'm trying to stay above water when swimming. Photos of my experience depict my pained and longsuffering expression. Near the end, eager for it to be over, I found myself retreating to the rich, inner world of ideas. We watched training videos to learn a set of about five hand signals for communication during the "float," but surprisingly, my instructor did not give me any of the signals during either of my two "floats." I could see that he was trying to give me signals during the first "float," but his hand was above my field of vision and I couldn't crane my neck enough to see what he was signaling. So it felt like the training was a waste. I do object to the liberal use of the words "flying" and "skydiving" featured in this company's marketing - in no way is this comparable to flying. It should be called "iFloat" since you're floating, stationary, in a wind tunnel. It's also not comparable to skydiving. You might feel a lot of wind, but instead of the thrill of seeing a vast vista of earth far below you, you see a metal grille a few feet below you and not much else beside the walls of the wind chamber. You are also surrounded by strangers watching you, which greatly compromises the experience as well. There is a "$10 helmet upgrade" available, which might have helped me: with their default setup, I had my own eyeglasses, plus goggles, plus a helmet that hurt my ears after a while. Combined with the earplugs, it had an isolating effect. If the other helmet is better, why not make it part of the default experience? My wife, on the other hand, loved every second of this and shrieked with delighted laughter the whole time. She's already planning a return trip. I don't complain about the short duration of your "float" - limited strictly to 60 seconds and you get two of them - because I was eager for it to be over. So, to summarize, "this is a good thing for people who like this sort of thing." If you look at pictures of this experience and wonder what is supposed to be fun about it, you will probably not have a dramatic conversion experience when you try it out. read more

Exhilarating! I was scared to death initially. Not something I would normally choose to do. I hate being the center of attention with the possibility of humiliation. It was a gift from my kids and they wanted to watch. The staff is very friendly and they explain everything thoroughly. You're also able to watch the group before you. The instructor is right with you the entire time. He was very encouraging and I felt Assured enough that I opted for the "High Fly" on my second entry into the chamber. I'm glad I did it. Well I tried it and made it out alive. That was my first thought as I left. But really? This was a super cool experience! Thanks to my step mom, a group of us got together at iFly Naperville. A few in the group had done it before, most of the rest were super excited to try this for the 1st time. I, however, was terrified. I'm desperately afraid of heights. I can't even be on the second story of my house without feeling apprehensive. Watching the group before us try helped calm my nerves slightly. I think it's great that you can go in and watch people and see if it's for you. Especially for kids, to see if they'll really do it before you fork over the big bucks. So what happens is you either reserve a time with a group or if you walk in you'll be placed with a group. I believe ours was 10-12 people. Right around your reserved time an instructor calls your group into a room with locker room benches, a TV, and also a padded sort of table. The instructor walks you through the hand signals, shows you the proper form on the padded bench, and tells you NOT to try any crazy flips. Although they do offer classes if you'd like to learn tricks(the upselling is a big thing here). Then on go the gigantic windbreaker suits, goggles, ear plugs and a helmet. Ladies, tie(they provide hair ties) or fix your hair back. My mid length hair shot through the top of my helmet in flight which gave me a rocking platinum mohawk on the video. And into the flight chamber we went. I was second to last on purpose. Again, watching people "fly" really helps. Also knowing that you're actually not that far from the ground was a big help too. This is the sensation of sky diving without any of the danger! Once I was in the flight chamber, I felt relaxed. What you hear is basically white noise. You can't really see the 50 people that are watching you. All you really see is your hands in front of you and the instructors hand signals. No need to worry about crashing against the glass. I don't think I went very close to the glass, but if you do, a gentle press against it is all that's needed. Each of us was only in there for a minute at a time, and the second time we all did the option to go higher(this is at an additional cost). My instructor grabbed me, spun me around and up we went 3 times, spinning all the way. It. Was. Awesome. There were 2 minutes of actual flight time for each of us total. I'll have to say this is best done as a group. It was so fun to cheer my family on, and they did the same for me. This would be a fantastic team building experience! In conclusion, I would never ever ever have chosen to try this in a million years. But now that I have? It's a blast and a half and a must try. So, I turned 30 this year. Big whoop. I just had a baby, so a big adventure was out, but I wanted to do something not only fun, but memorable. Then, in March 2014, I saw the construction of a dream come true. Indoor skydiving has been on my bucket list for quite a while, but the closest location before this year was Austin, TX. Leaving Jason's Deli across the street, my husband pointed out this building and I literally screamed in the car. And even more perfect, it'd be done by my birthday. So in September, I along with 6 friends went indoor skydiving. We used the online reservation system and got a confirmation call a few days before the big day. In this phone call, the lovely employee informed me that we could get more and spend less money. Um, awesome? With fees and everything, we were $63 a person. When the day arrived, the check in process was easy even with one person being late and another wearing the wrong shoes. (Thanks, friends.) They were running a little behind, but because of my previously mentioned friend and our nerves we were ok. You get to see everyone's skydiving experience while you wait, which helps jitters, but the instructor's run was way more fun to watch. After the group of 10 people get their two flights, the instructor does a crazy stunt-filled run. The only way to describe it was jaw-dropping, as everyone's mouths were open in awe. Our group watched an instructional video, then the instructor reiterates the video. We were then suited up and received helmets, goggles, and earplugs. We were entering the flight queue, and I started to panic. But, I am a grown up of 30 now, so I faced my fears and literally jumped in. The flight itself was more of a float, and it felt like water went up my nose, but it was definitely a fun experience. We got our videos later the same day, so no complaints there. The only issue I had (and it's not a very big one) was the high flight. It's $10 extra (do it.) and they tell you that you have to decide at check in before your first flight. Well, the instructor flat out told us later that we can change our minds as late as right before you go in the wind tunnel and go high. It's great that they do that, and yay for them making more money, but why go through all the drama of insisting that we make up our mind before we've ever tried it? But if that's the only negative part of the experience, you know it was overall a great day. What they don't tell you is how sore you'll be the next day/later the same day. My family did this before in Colorado, and it was just as fun as we remembered. The overall experience was phenomenal for those who flew, but I'm going to rate different parts of the experience since some was great & some wasn't, and explain why they only get 3 stars. I definitely recommend making your reservations WAY in advance as this is a popular activity so the book up fast. So here is the breakdown on a scale of 1 (worst) to 5 (best): Instructor Kristin - 6 stars! A couple people in the group not with us seemed to panic mid-flight. Not sure why, since there is no reason to, but she calmed them down quickly and they still had an amazing time. She also recognized those like my son & wife who were doing well and had them try more than others did, like in flight left/right spins. Flight time - 5 stars. It's indoor skydiving, it's a blast, what more can you say?! If you haven't done it before, do it. Check-in process - 4 stars. Easy & straightforward. Website - 2 stars. The packages need to be better explained. Example: 1 package says 10 flights for UP TO 5 people. When you get there, you find that each person in the group gets 2 turns flying, but what if you have less than 5 people? Can you take more turns? longer turns? I have a suspicion as to what the answer is, but I'm not even remotely sure if I'm right so I won't guess here. It's not the package we bought, mainly due to confusion on what they were. Consistently following their own rules - 0 stars. There is a weight limit. On the phone they told me it is 200# if under 6' tall, 250# if over 6' tall. I'm 5'11", and somewhere over 200#, but absolutely under 250#, so in making reservations over the phone I was told I didn't qualify to fly, and just made reservations for my wife & son to fly. We get there to check in & a sign says the under 6' weight limit is 230#, but now they are sold out so its too late for me to try to fly. Then, to top it off, there were 2 guys in the group who had reservations & flew who were clearly shorter & heavier than I am, and I'm sure at least 1 of them was WELL over the 250# limit. VERY Disappointing. (Just for the record, I don't blame the instructor here, she gets the group the registration people give her.) I guess that's what I get for following the rules as presented to me over the phone. Overall, I would definitely recommend, just ask lots of questions before you pay your reservation fee. read more

We came here on a surprise birthday gift from our sister. She came here in the summer last year and wanted us to experience it too. We were very nervous, but everyone was very nice. We had a reservation at 12pm, but were able to get seen earlier. We were also able to see all the instructors have fun beforehand in the "wind tunnel" and see everything you can really do. It was pretty awesome to see! It was our first time so we watched a short video on iFly (what they're about and how to position yourself). He asked if we had any other questions and then we went over our positioning one more time before we went out to get fitted. We put our coats/bags in lockers and then got fitted and given the things we needed before flying. Brandon was an awesome instructor and made us feel relaxed and was hilarious. We opted for the "high flight" and it was AWESOME! Just make sure you have gym/tennis shoes and make sure when you're in there you close your mouth as much as you can so you aren't drooling :(, haha! But other than that we loved it! It was expensive, but I think it was well worth the money AND the experience. The prices lower when its your second time and you buy it the day you're there, after you're done. So just make sure if you have the money and you want to go again, you should definitely buy a package before you leave. It saves $$$ and it does't expire. If you go to the Naperville location, definitely recommend BRANDON if you can pick someone when reserving (but I'm sure all the instructors are awesome)! All or most of the instructors that work there are skydivers and they know what they are doing. After experiencing everything, he really made us second think going skydiving OUTSIDE! And I would have never even given it a second thought. Again unforgettable experience, had an awesome time and we have bought a package to go again soon (and will definitely consider doing a party here in the future). When we moved to Chicago and it was the kids birthday, I knew we had to take them! So glad we did! They had a blast!!! It is TOTALLY worth the extra money to do the high flights - I mean, that is the whole purpose of it, right? Otherwise, I don't think it would be any fun. That is the only reason I gave it a 4 vs 5 because that seems like a bit of a cheap shot to charge at minimum $69 and then pay extra for that. The experience of indoor skydiving itself was fantastic and our instructor was a rockstar. However, there were numerous things that took away from how awesome it was. For starters you couldn't check in on the screens because the touch was so sensitive they wouldn't work. Then we couldn't even lock our own lockers because they were "broken". Which does not feel very secure giving someone you don't know control of your valuables. Our package came with video and pictures. When we finished our flight they told us to do the downloads at home because their computers weren't working. When we did there were no pictures posted. i felt ripped offed so ripped offed off 39.99$ per person for 1 trip where you get 1 minute of flying under an air tube and you get to do it once. now if that was it that would be great but that's not all. they had many TVs with videos of people doing cool things like walking on the glass walls or doing a flip or going up and down, but they don't tell you that since your "new" you have to just float kind of lame and some time they will even just hold u most of the time. and if you want to do flips you have to go mutable times paying each time with it being 399$ for 10 times. as someone who went with their family i feel ripped off and sure you feel amazing in the moment but a bit after that me and my family just felt kind of ripped off. and my kids where kind of mad that they didn't even get to do it alone and that they had to be kind of held under one of the instructor's arm pits. also, they kept telling me to have my legs Stright but I kind of can't when the air is pushing me at 150 mph. very lame felt ripped off me and my family not going again any time soon and probably a good waste of 160$ ): read more
