I'm new to the world of "adult" framing, having typically just gone to Michael's or wherever else and bought a frame that kind of fit, maybe half-assing some kind of homebrew matting solution and calling it a day. I've avoided the whole custom framing thing because it seemed confusing and expensive, particularly when you throw all the weird coupon stacking shenanigans into the mix, making it really tricky to figure out if you were getting the best price or not. I've been buying art over the years, but most of it just sits in poster tubes. I found out about If These Walls Could Talk through them being so active in Aurora's First Friday's thing, and figured now is the time to spend some money on framing and I might as well support a local business that's a part of the community as well. We worked with Tim, and he was super helpful in demystifying the whole framing process. We spent what seemed like a whole afternoon in there trying out different framing options on top of the two things I wanted framed, and while I was pretty confident it was all going to turn out awesome, the final product vastly exceeded our expectations. It still was expensive, particularly if you're used to buying one-size-fits-all frames at craft stores, but I'll have these frames my whole life, and they made our living room look awesome. I've since turned a few friends of mine on to If These Walls Could Talk, and similarly, they've wound up with really great work done. read more

Tim and Jennifer at If These Walls Could Talk accommodated a long-distance task from Los Angeles in an amazing way. I'm in LA and I had a photoshop file I wanted to get printed and framed as a gift to my father in IL. Here's what they did to go above and beyond: 1. I sent them the poster I had printed here in LA. When it arrived damaged, Tim and Jennifer sent me pictures to show the damage, and then offered to have it printed at a nearby print shop 2. They arranged to have the print delivered to them from the print for framing (since I wasn't there to transport it to them from the print shop) 3. They offered to Facetime/Skype to show me framing options 4. They were very receptive to staying within my budget limits on the project 5. They did an amazing job on the framing! It's really beautiful work 6. Since it is a very large framed poster, they even took special care to pack the finished product for transport in the back of a pickup. I tend to be lazy about framing and have purchased redi-made frames from big box stores. Then I saw the storefront of If These Walls Could Talk, and realized how much better things could be done. We have artwork that ranges from photos to artist originals, and I saw they could not only improve on how we framed those, but also they do keepsake boxes. We brought in a piece that was framed back in the 60's and had them redo it for us. Framing (all wood frames!!!), glass, mats all reasonably priced and the workmanship is stellar. The attention to detail is part of their style, the owner(s) are also the crew that perform the labor on your items. They truly care about the items they are working on, and they make sure you are pleased with the results. Many items have followed and we will continue to bring our treasures here for proper framing.
