I purchased my first stove from Hemet fireplace, which turned out to be a big mistake. Their team was not knowledgeable about the intricacies of impact of altitude on stove and thus I don't believe this was installed properly and was not emitting enough heat. Steve and his team saved me. They are so knowledgeable and attentive to detail. They not only set me up with the most appropriate stove but also helped me correct the issues created my Hemet fireplace. I wouldn't trust anyone else on the hill. I've learned what an irreversible investment it is when making this purchase, so learn from my mistake and don't go anywhere else. read more

I am very happy with Idy Heat and Cooling. They are a superb store and tremendous service specialists. First, their showroom is a tribute to the town itself from the grounds outside, to the showroom quality store inside and the high end merchandise they routinely stock. You get the feeling they are head and shoulders above the rest and a first rate operation. I recently used them to service a propane stove in our downstairs cabin. Steve's assistant, a very polite gal, was extremely accommodating and informative during this COVID-19 chaos and scheduled an appointment for me on Thursday. Steve and I spoke Wednesday and said the schedule was jampacked but he do his very best to have Kevin, who I later learned is his son (father and son, co-owned operation) and an extremely skilled technician, come out early in the morning.. I said no problem I understood because if folks had no heat at all that sure seem to be a priority. Nonetheless, Kevin showed up bright and early and took care of the problem immediately by installing a new pilot light and cleaning out the mainline with parts he carried right in the service bag. In short, they are a first rate, high-end operation, extremely competent service and professional staff, and took care of problems immediately with no fuss. We're lucky they're up here on the hill! Excellent service from Kevin. We experienced warm air coming thru the AC vents, called the office Saturday; had an appointment for Monday early afternoon. Fortunately the evening temps were cool enough to not need the AC, altho the afternoons were a bit hot. Kevin was extremely knowledgeable of our unit, completely cleaned out the outdoor unit, replaced the capacitor and we had cool air flowing in under an hour. Highly recommended. Just had a mini-split system installed by Idyllwild Heating and Cooling. It's an amazing way to heat and cool your house: super energy efficient and super quiet. The front of my house sits on a hillside with a western exposure (full afternoon sun) and the front rooms can get pretty hot in the summer. This mini-split system is keeping the house cool and comfy, even with the blinds open. Could not be more pleased! Steve was great to work with, getting the job scheduled and done in the time frame he suggested. His installation crew was knowledgeable, professional and friendly. Kevin and Tyler could not have been more pleasant to work with. And Oniee, who runs the office, is just as nice as can be!! First, Hemet is right down the hill and you can buy a yeti cooler online. All I can say is after countless emails with Oniee, numerous telephone calls by the General contractor and the roofing contractor they never showed up and obviously didn't do their job in time for other trades to do theirs. They forced me to retrofit a wood stove flu into a brand new roof when there was ample time to have it completed in advance. It is a family ritual to all chant " dead beat Steve" when we pass the eternal flame. I went out of my way to support every local business during my remodel and this is the only one that failed me. It is with great regret that I am writing a negative review of a local small business. In September 2017 I contacted Steve at Idyllwind Heating and Cooling and asked him to come to my home and quote the insulation of a wood stove. He appeared on a Saturday morning as promised and looked at the job, a simple connect and then stove pipe though a ceiling and installation of the pipe on the roof. He informed me that my stove was not EPA approved so he did not want to connect it, but that he sold all the parts necessary to to the job. I asked if he would consider just doing the box/collar through the ceiling and pipe on the roof, because I wanted a professional to do the flashing so that it didn't leak and was installed correctly. He agreed to do the job and gave me a price for both parts and labor. He explained that he was busy that week and would try to get to it in the "next few weeks". On October 10th I called and spoke with Steve again and I asked when he would be doing the job. He state that he was still busy, "but soon". On October 13th I emailed him and ask for an invoice to prepay. I received no reply. On October October 31 I again emailed Steve and asked when he would be doing the job. On November 7th I personally spoke with Steve who said he "had a customer change her mind on a big job that put us behind" but that he would do my job this week or early next week at the latest". He did not show up. On November 9th I spoke with Steve by telephone again and I asked him when he would do my job, at this point his statements became vague such as "Oh I know it's important" and ""It's on my schedule" but he refused to either tell me that he couldn't do the job, or tell me when he would be there. On November 20th I spoke with Steve again who stated that he could not do the job this week because "it's Thanksgiving" but that he would get to it next week. Today on November 27th I called and spoke to Steve and asked what day I could expect him to come do the job. His response was "I'm going to just take a deep breath" Due to the two month delay, I finally asked him directly, whether he was going to do the job. His reply was "I'm done with all of this......" and he hung the phone up on me. I want local small business' to succeed. But when a business cannot be honest with customers, or show up to do work which they have promised, or treat people with decent courtesy, then they don't deserve success. I'm sure as the only local HVAC serviceman in the area that Steve will always have work, and maybe his work is great, I just wouldn't know because he never showed up to do the job he promised at my home. It was a terrible experience. Buyer beware. I'm sure Steve will have a different recollection of our conversations and/or more exscuses, however after the first time he didn't appear, I started to keeping detailed notes and I am confident in the accuracy of my times, dates and representations. read more

This is one of those I awarded one star because there is no ability to award 0 stars. Took some time to secure an appointment. On arrival the technicians sneared that they don't service floor furnaces and lectured us on their dangers. It REALLY would have been helpful to know the company did not service floor furnaces at the time we made the appointment. As they left one of the charmless duo mumbled "you really wanted it fixed, didn't you". NO, not at all, we just waste our time waiting for ill groomed louts to insult our home for fun. read more

The temperature this morning was in the high 20s and our heater would not work. We contacted Idyllwild Heating and Cooling and their technician was out at the residence within just a few hours. The technician Kevin was outstanding. Not only did he quickly identify the problem and fix it for us but he also gave us some great advice about the unit usage and general heating of the house. Idyllwild Heating & Cooling was called out to get a pilot light lit for a wall heater for my rental in Idyllwild. Report came back that pilot would not light, cannot get replacement parts and price for new wall unit was over $2,500. After such news we called for a second opinion. Technician from second company went out, turned on gas line and lit the pilot light. I cannot stress enough how important it is to get a second opinion. read more

Our heating recently went out. Kevin came by and gave me the bad news that the furnace needed to be replaced. He explained in detail why it had failed and took videos of the furnace to show me the multiple problems (the heat condenser had rusted through and flames were shooting where they should not be, leading to a system shut down). Kevin gave me a proposal later that day for an Amana furnace. I went on the internet and it had good reviews but I also kept reading on different sites that a proper installation was key to a proper functioning furnace and to ensure that the furnace would last its expected life. I spoke with Kevin for quite some time about the furnace, the installation, and adding a humidifier that actually worked (we had two in the past from other vendors and both had failed). Kevin also proposed an upgraded air filter system as we have experienced a lot of dust in the house. I cannot recommend Kevin and this company enough. Kevin and his father Steve really know what they are talking about and have been in business for years. The installation was done correctly and professionally, and Kevin fixed some of the improper ducting, etc. that had been installed previously by other vendors. We wanted to pay for this to be done once correctly and hiring this company achieved that goal. We are very satisfied. read more

Wife went to their store and asked again for an estimate. No call, no one showed again. We ended up using a company from Hemet. They were professional and met every promise they made. They were respectful of our cabin and property.
