The Jacksonville Fun, Eats & Drinks crew recently took a midweek day off for a day trip to Orlando. Did we go to the house of Mouse? Nope. We wanted to so something a little different so I poked around online and ended up buying a combo deal for attractions in ICON Park which is in the center of I-Drive. You can find it on Google Maps by clicking HERE. The bundle I bought us had admission for The Orlando Eye which is the huge observation wheel, Madame Tussauds Wax Museum and the Sea Life Aquarium. There's a huge parking garage which is $20 for the first 3 floors but free for the 4th floor and up, so of course, we parked on the 4th floor. There's a ton of food options between walk up and sit down joints. We picked a Mexican joint called Uncle Julio's. It was good for the price and location. Nothing super special but again, good for the price. Our day hit a bump in the road when we walked over to the attractions entrance. A guy named Malcom met us, I showed him my email receipt and he immediately said "oh, the Eye (the observation wheel) is down today". At first, he said they'd have to refund the 3 attraction combo ticket I bought, then I'd have to go online and re-buy a 2 attraction ticket. I didn't get upset or anything. I just calmly said "wait. Y'all can't help me with that right here?" and he said "give me a minute, let me see what I can figure out". To his credit, he really did have to jump through some hoops. The system was trying to force "surge pricing" on the transaction because of how busy they were and he was just trying to take care of a customer. I feel bad for a lot of customer service workers these days because their hands are so tied by some of these point of sale systems. He kept at it though and found a way to get the price down to what I would've paid if I'd just bought the 2 attractions a few weeks ago instead of 3. So again, huge shout out to Malcom for going the extra mile and overcoming a system he shouldn't have had to. We ended up having a fantastic day around Icon Park and I will share a separate post about how much fun we had with a test run at Ripley's Crazy Golf. I just really thought the customer service we received from Malcom was worth a post of it's own. A version of this review originally appeared in the Jacksonville Fun, Eats & Drinks Facebook group.

We were at ICON Park last November while we were on a road trip to Orlando to go to Epic Universe. We decided to also stop in here to take a ride on the ferris wheel, aka Orlando Eye. It was $40 per person for a 15 minute ride, which seemed rather high but it's Orlando. So it was fun and we got to see the Universal 's Epic Universe, Super Nintendo World and the dual roller coasters plus the Icon Park itself. We enjoyed it at night with all the lights. The gate entrance is free. You pay for whatever ride you select. The main highlights at ICON are SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium, the Madame Tussaud Museum Orlando, the Orlando StarFlyer swing ride, the Museum of Illusions, and In the Game, which is an arcade with games, a mirror maze and the Pearl Express, which is a miniature train ride. Besides the highlights, there are over 40 resturaunts and kiosks to choose from. For shoppers, there are several boutiques and souvenir kiosks. We had a good time and enjoyed the night lights at the park.

Came here for blue man group! I had no idea it was on the backside of the eye so I parked far and had to walk but it was walkable distance. Looking forward to the show!

    | A Sweet Stop at ICON Park with Parisian Flair ICON Park is one of those Orlando spots that truly has something for everyone--great energy, walkable layout, and a fun mix of attractions, dining, and people-watching. Whether you're meeting friends, entertaining out-of-towners, or just enjoying an afternoon on International Drive, ICON Park delivers. One of the highlights of our visit was stopping by iCafe de Paris, which added a charming European touch to the experience. The café has a cozy, Parisian vibe--perfect for slowing down and enjoying dessert or coffee after a meal nearby. The presentation was beautiful, the atmosphere inviting, and it felt like a little escape tucked right into the heart of ICON Park. What I love most about ICON Park is how easy it is to hop from one experience to another. After brunch nearby, strolling over for dessert and conversation made the visit feel relaxed and intentional rather than rushed. Parking was straightforward, and everything felt safe, clean, and well-organized. Overall, ICON Park continues to be a go-to destination for casual meetups and memorable moments--and iCafe de Paris is a must-stop if you enjoy desserts, coffee, and a touch of elegance with your outing. Highly recommend!

We decided to see what we could get into that wasnt Disney. This was a fun little spot! A lot of different activities to do in one area--we played arcade games, grabbed a drink and bought some souvenirs. There's a wax museum, many different restaurants and a Ferris wheel too. Definitely a cool spot to add onto a Disney trip!

Icon park is located on i drive . It has outside restaurants and vendors and few things for kids too with family. I didn't go to any of the restaurants this time. I walked by some vendors. The main thing is the Orlando eye , The Sea life and Madame Tussuands wax museum which I went to and will rate separately.

Such a fun place. Uber drivers had a hard time with locating exact location so I recommend maybe walking to a spot easy to get to. Plenty of things to do.

This place is directly across the street walking distance from Embassy Suites. You want Gordon Ramsey's fish and chips? How about an aquarium? Ferris wheel? Wax museum? Merry-go-round? How about some BBQ? You need ice cream? What about a train ride for the little chicken nuggets? Wanna buy some plants so you can propagate them at home? What about buying a Build-a-Bear? You need an arcade for the teens? They got ALL that and more. Pro tip: don't fall for the Time Share guys selling stuff. If a man walks up to you being friendly and starts asking you stuff then says, "Have you talked to my friend Rick?" Say, "YEAH, I have talked to him." And WALK AWAY. XD Have a good time folks and do NOT get scammed on vaca.

I love icon park however there's a big issue. Some businesses are open before the main building's opening at 11am and there is not a single bathroom outside of it! I've been wondering around looking for a half hour and all staff told me there is none until 11am. Very inconvenient!

How much does the Ferris wheel Cost per Person?

Around $30 but they sometimes have Groupon deals. They also offer combination deals with other attractions.

How safe are the rides here?

    Very safe.

How many people will each pod hold and is there a place to sit down ? If not , can a folding chair be brought on?

It seems each pod could hold at least 10 people. And yes, there's a center seating area in each pod.

    How many people per car?

They load the capsules based on who is waiting and how many capsules need to be loaded. When we went, our group of 4 got our own capsule. Yes, the cars are called capsules.

I had heard from locals that it's a great local option over the big theme parks. Fun Spot was pretty great, for what it was. Free parking, free admission if you don't plan on riding rides, also a discounted adult pass if you only are going on rides with your kid who is too young to ride alone. The whole place was small, maybe the area of a handful of city blocks. And on the Sunday afternoon when we went, the place was quiet enough that we never waited more than a few minutes to get onto a ride. As we were only there for a couple hours, the cashier recommended the 4 ride pass for my kids, and the companion pass for me. But if one were to spend more hours there, buying the day pass online for $59.95 is quite a bargain. Not all rides were open, but the "big" rides that most kids want (the roller coasters and the go carts) were open. My daughter, who is not a big roller coaster fan, had a harder time finding kiddie rides that she actually wanted to go on, and she watched the go carts and didn't even want to try those with me driving. However, the place was small enough that I felt fine leaving my 10 year old son to go on rides by himself while I went on the Ferris wheel or the merry go round with my 8 year old. There are a bunch of food options available throughout the park. They were definitely more affordable than Disney prices! Most of the places offered souvenir cups with discounted refills, but there were also water stations set up throughout with free cups. I'd definitely come back if I had a few hours to burn and the kids didn't want to go swimming. Hopefully at some point, my daughter will change her mind about roller coasters, though!

The locker areas for cramped, but I appreciated how many of the wait queues were indoors, keeping us cooler and away from the rain. The Harry Potter sections were amazing, just amazing. I loved that we didn't have to worry plan in advance to get a spot at either. Its sole ride, Escape from Gringotts I gave two stars as I found it very lackluster compared to the two Potter themed thrill rides over at Islands of Adventure. But the theming in this section of the park is absolutely phenomenal and highly immersive enough to make this an easy 4 stars. The Knight Bus was fun enough for both my sister and I to get pictures by it with its friendly steward and his appropriate accent. I missed the low key entrance on our first go round. As I said I watched the movies in a cloud of smoke and didn't realize it was this secret fandom entrance/exit but the throngs passing through tipped us off. The greater density with everything packed so tightly together and its separation from the other themed areas of Universal Studios Florida makes this Potter themed area more impressive than its counterpart over at Islands of Adventure- even without a magnificent castle. The alleys, the shops, the hand painted signage, the dragon perched high shooting out that massive flame... I can only imagine how hard this hits if you're a Potter fanatic. And though Escape from Gringotts was pretty weak sauce in my estimation the queue and the theming before the ride experience was top notch. They really broke the bank on this, as with the great train ride in. Maybe if I ever go back I'll watch a Potter movie or two sober.
