UH UH. No sir-eee (or ma'am if that's what you're into). Point is..... STEER CLEAR AT ALL COSTS. I tend to be rather patient but this place ran my capacity for waiting MORE than thin. It was nonexistent by the meal's end. Not only did my group have to wait more than an hour for food, but only half of our food came out before we had to wait another 15 minutes for messed up food. An aggravating back and forth with various employees, who evidently don't communicate with each other, yielded what was the most unsatisfactory food my family has ever had the misfortune of putting in our mouths. This made us feel like we were eating just because we were bored. What I also neglected to mention was the fact that the table asked for waters to drink, and what arrived after 25 minutes was a pitcher that was enough for each of us to have 2 tablespoons. It was easy to tell which lane we would be using, as our last name was visible on the screen. As soon as we were set up, our waitress stopped by and took our drinks and appetizer order. They offer bowling, a full bar and a food menu, which isn't too impressive, but it isn't bad and does the job. The rate is $17 for adults and $11 for kids 9 and under. This grants you 45 minutes of bowling and includes your shoe rental. I'd slightly disagree with anyone calling this "cosmic bowling" since there is a difference between what they do at night versus what cosmic bowling is, but I'd still say I prefer Galaxy's retro-chic version at night. They also offer merchandise like t-shirts, hats, keychains and even a snazzy bowling pin cup you can purchase. As a heads-up: The venue isn't very large and they may still ask for reservations, so be prepared for that. There's only 10 lanes of bowling and naturally, that might mean it'll be crowded/limited either once the Universal parks let out or on a rainy day. Are there other places in the area to bowl? Sure. But the rates are very similar and honestly, if you're able to check out Galaxy Bowl, it's a pretty cool place to bowl at and you don't necessarily have to be a hotel guest to enjoy it. read more

It's a fun place but when we were there we had to reset our lane multiple times and at one point all the balls had gotten stuck they had to clear the balls it cut about 15 min into our time. They said they added time but I don't believe they did. Also they were out of 2 of the cocktails I tried to order. Well 1 wine and 1 cocktail. I settled for a coke. A bowling alley INSIDE THE RESORT is awesome! And the food is pretty good here. It does smell a bit like a bowling alley and there aren't many lanes, however, the cozy bar offers a few seats and great service, with specialty cocktails not offered at other bars in Cabana Bay. The menu also has many items not available at the poolside restaurants nor the Bayliner Diner downstairs. Bowling on weekend nights typically requires a reservation. But walk-ins are much easier in the daytime & on weeknights. Yeah, its more pricey than your local bowling alley, but its just upstairs from the Cabana Bay lobby, and the decor is awesomely retro. Food service is hit or miss. On a recent Thursday night, we had an awesome server, and were disappointed to hear she would be off the next couple of days during our stay. The next day, during a lengthy rainstorm, we tried to get a late lunch & were ignored after being seated. We waited more than 10 minutes before heading back downstairs to the Bayliner. On this specific visit, we were also told seating a group of 3 was difficult, and we'd have to sit at a high-top near the entrance. As the 3 of us have worked in restaurants previously, we *assumed* (later) that he meant not all of the tables were open because not enough servers were on-duty, but we agreed that we might have been more understanding if the host had actually told us that. Overall, Galaxy Bowl is a fun option at Cabana Bay. The extension of the 50's-60's theme here is outstanding and offers an enjoyable vibe. Food & drinks are consistently great as well. read more

We waited in a mostly empty restaurant for at least 10 minutes after we were seated for anyone to come to our table. Makayla, our server finally arrived to take our drink order. It took another 20 minutes for our beverages to arrive. Our food, for chicken fingers and two cheesesteaks? Another half and hour. When we finally did get our meals, mediocre at best. I'm not one to give poor reviews, always erring on the side of giving them the benefit of the doubt. That said, almost every aspect of our experience here was unfortunately terrible. During a lightning storm, we decided to eat in the resort rather than brave the storm. I had read the menus for both restaurants and was excited for the steak sandwich here. The ladies seating people were dealing with a mass of tourists all frustrated by the bowling alley itself being booked. They went out of their way to make sure we were seated more quickly than they quoted, I suspect because we were nice about the situation and were only looking to eat. Sitting down began one of the longest eating experiences I've had and not because we were eating slowly. There was a point after the kids had done all the activities on the menu and my wife had to bust out playing cards to distract them from hunger. While the food came out hot, the simple order of two sandwiches a salad and macaroni came out missing a sandwich with chicken fingers in its place. Rather than waiting for a correction, we politely accepted the chicken instead. Fries were good, salad and steak sandwich were okay, and the macaroni was awful. It was much more like a soup with macaroni noodles in it than Mac and cheese. Every interaction with someone working there other than the hostesses felt very much like they hated the people eating there. At one point one of them picked up crayons my son dropped, and told him he dropped them while slamming them down on the table. It was freezing at our table. It's usually cooler indoors from the humidity outside, but all four of us were shivering cold by the time we could leave. It might not have been so bad if we weren't constantly waiting for the waiter to show up again. After waiting more than ten minutes to see our waiter, we had to have someone else get him to get the check. Once we got it, we had to wait fifteen more minutes to pay by credit card. I usually over tip because I know how bad those jobs are, but at this one I couldn't even justify 20%. Not only would I never eat here again, I would also warn anyone else not to. read more

Got to go here for a kids birthday party and it was a ton of fun. The bowling is not by game but by hour. With the 5 kiddos, we got two games in for 1 hour and 30 minutes. There were plenty of food options for a bowling alley. We had a ton of the appetizers and it was yummy! The loaded fries, mozzarella sticks, and pretzel bites (with the yummy beer cheese) were a huge hit. Overall the experience was well worth it. Only thing: if you are not a guest, you do have to pay for parking if you are spending more than an hour. The short term parking is $45 but if you have friend that is a guest, you can always use their key card! read more

Galaxy Bowling is a super fun way to spend time indoors at the Cabana Bay Beach Resort. The cool, retro decor makes it appealing to adults as well as children and it's very well maintained. Bowling is a bit expensive but so is everything else at Universal and Galaxy Bowling isn't ridiculously so. Since there's only a few lanes, there is usually a waitlist to get in and we waited an hour and a half Saturday night for a lane. However, you don't have to wait on site and they'll take down your cell phone number to call you 15 minutes ahead of your lane being available to give you time to get there. If you don't have kids with you, I recommend killing time at the Swizzle Lounge, although Galaxy Bowling does have their own bar and food setup if you don't feel like leaving once you get there. Just beware, there are little kids everywhere and many parents don't manage them as well as they should. A 3-4 year old child ran into our lane and behind my husband as he was pulling his arm back WITH A TEN-POUND BOWLING BALL IN IT. The poor thing almost clobbered herself while her exhausted parents just laughed it off but it left us a little shaken. Go to Galaxy Bowl, have fun, and stay aware of your surroundings when there's little people afoot. read more

The food was average although they did put old bay seasoning on the French fries. They have a 10 lane bowling alley with family tables to bowl and eat at. We didn't bowl. They did say that in the evening it was recommended you make reservations for bowling. The is a very cute bowling alley diner in Cabana Bay Resort. Their attention to period details is reminding of bowling with my childhood friends and eating at the food bar there. Even the nachos have a velveta flavor which made me rock back a bit in rememberence (that was a GOOD thing - they were really good). The nachos are fab. The drinks are stiff and yummy. The burgers are substantial but a little bland. The kids really liked their kid meals. The wait staff is personable and all over us to make sure we are served well. Galaxy Bowl is located inside of Cabana Bay Beach Resort. It is a hidden gem for great food inside the hotel when the food court is closed or too busy. The food court in Cabana Bay closes at 11 while the Galaxy Bowl serves food until 12am so if you get in late this is a a great place to check out! You can also do carry out or sit down. So if you prefer to just go back to your room and eat that is totally an option, you just have to order at the bar. Both times I was there I had an amazing chicken flatbread. We got the pretzel rods both times we ate inside and have mixed reviews. The first time they were great and so was the dipping cheese. The second time the dipping cheese (which is a beer cheese) tasted like I was eating acholic cheese, and it was not appealing at all. We had a member of our party that was gluten free and as soon as we said that the waiter got the chef who came out to speak to our party personally to ensure that he fully understood the allergy and discussed the best options for him. This really impressed me, it shows that Universal really cares and takes food allergies seriously. Would definitely come back here on my next trip! read more

The lanes I am used to are pretty aged... Plan ahead though, the parks close around 8/9 and it will get packed because there are only 10 lanes. The food is ok as well. The price is more expensive than your normal bowling alleys, but decent I suppose from what Universal could have charged. You pay by the hour, so you might be able to squeeze in an extra game if it's a small group you're with. It was just the two of us when we went, paid for two hours and could easily have played three games. On weekend nights, the bowling alley can get busy. In such scenarios the employees will take down your cell number and room number to contact you when your lane becomes available. On the Saturday night we went, we had a wait of ~1 hr. I found the employees to be very nice and friendly. While we were waiting for our lane, they checked up on us to make sure we were ok. A negative during our trip was that even though they keep the tables tops behind the bowling lanes clean, the table at the lane we were assigned had empty glasses and bottles remaining from the previous bowlers. When we got to the bowling alley to check in at around 9:45, the desk tells us 2 people have already checked in on lane 8 for our party and said that the rest of us weren't coming. Ummm....none of us checked in yet. What do they do to remedy the fact that they let 2 random people take our reservation? Make us wait 40 mins for new lanes because they are too afraid to confront the people who stole our reservation. Mind you, this is after we paid the ridiculous $15/pp or $120 for 1 hr of bowling. No refund. Just completely rude "there's nothing we can do, we will get you a lane eventually." So I guess if you want a lane you just have to walk in and say you have a reservation. We visited Harry Potter World and stayed at the Cabana Bay Beach Resort. We really enjoyed the 60s theme of the hotel. An added bonus was the bowling alley upstairs. A very friendly and helpful staff. We were able to get food and then have a fun hour of bowling. Rather than buying by the game, you purchase time. We were able to get in almost two games in an hour. After having a couple of beers and bowling, I also bought a bowling shirt. I'm not sure when or where I'll wear it, but it looks very cool. I think the friendly staff encouraged me to buy it and gave me a free bowling pin key chain. Enjoyed the hotel and don't miss the bowling and beers! read more
