This was always my favorite part of IoA! The Spider-Man ride will never get old! It's been updated a bit since the ride came out, but it still has an old school comic book charm! In my late teens, I finally found the courage to go on the Hulk ride. It's the fastest and scariest coaster I've ever been on! Hulk yelling at the beginning doesn't help btw! I don't like drop rides, so I avoid the Doom fall. I'm glad Universal and Disney still have an agreement to keep this part of the Island! It would be sad to see it go! read more

Old school (pre Disney) Marvel comics, ride, and stores in Islands of Adventure in Orlando. Lots of comic book themed colors and designs here, good for those who are historic comic fans and the meet & greets here looked like fun if busy lines. The Hulk coaster, Fearfall wasn't on when we were there, and the Spiderman 4D experience. Marvel Super Hero Island is located at Universal's Islands of Adventure. It's off to the left side as soon as you enter the theme park. This area opened in 1999 and is themed from the comic books! All of the buildings in the area have the comic book style architecture and has features themed from iconic Marvel Characters. I really liked how the buildings have special chrome illusion paint. Depending on where you view the building or at a different angle, with specific lighting, it changes how the buildings look! It's pretty cool. There are variety of theme park rides in Marvel Super Hero Island. The Incredible Hulk Coaster: This is a super fast ride! It goes from 0 to 40 mph in just two seconds! The ride can reach up to 67 mph though and has a variety of inversions! The Amazing Spider-Man: This is a 3D dark ride. It's a slow ride though! It combines motion simulation and special effects to immerse you in the ride! You'll get to see Spider Man and a few villains from the series! Doctor Doom Fearfall: This ride is a drop ride. You'll be launched up to close to 200 feet in the air! I try to avoid this ride though. Drop rides are a little scary for me! Storm Force Accelatron: It's a spinning ride. It's based on the X-Men series. You're helping storm defeat Magneto! There are a lot of Meet and Greets in this area! Last time I was here, I saw Wolverine and Captain America! You can also see other superheroes like Spider-man or even villains such as Doctor Doom or the Green Goblin! If you're looking for dining options there is the Captain America Diner, and some other quick service options like Aunt Anne's! There are some stores you can shop in for Marvel merchandise which offers collectible, toys, apparel and so much more! My mom and I spent a few hours at Marvel Super Hero Island. Great way to end an intense week of training at Marvel Super Hero Island. We enjoyed a private group experience including unlimited rides, a live band/DJ, dessert and drink bar. I greatly appreciate the gift stores being open as my son was able to be gifted exclusive Marvel superhero movie replica toy cars. The spider-man ride is literal life. This is probably my favorite theme park! Wish it weren't in Florida but...

Marvel Super Hero Island opened in 1999 and is themed after popular Marvel Comics superheroes. Do not leave this area before taking the chance to meet Spider-Man, Captain America, Cyclops, Wolverine, Storm and Rogue, as well as Marvel Villains like Doctor Doom and the Green Goblin. If you love comics like I do, getting the chance to take photos with characters is a fun way to take a break from coasters for a bit. You can also enjoy shopping for comics, grab a bite to eat at Cafe 4, and even play some arcade games. If you want to ride coasters, there is the Super-man ride, and the big draw of this section, the Hulk ride. No matter what you end up perferring, this section of Islands of Adventure is a fun time. The food in this area wasn't my favorite but the rides, shopping and photo opportunities were definitely up my alley. read more

This is my favorite section of Islands of Adventure without my kids. It is very clean and is home to my favorite coaster of all time, the Incredible Hulk. Other rides in the section include Storm Force Accelatron, Doctor Doom's Fearfall (too scared to ride this one), and the The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man. I love the Spiderman ride. It is easy going and interactive. Even though Disney now owns the rights to Marvel, they allow Islands of Adventure to maintain this section as long as they continue to pay royalties to Marvel The section also has photo ops with rotating characters. I saw Wolverine, the X-man and Captain America taking pictures while I was there. They were located in 2 separate spots. There is a guide available the day of your visit to tell you which character will be where so that you can catch your favorite. There is a nice bathroom facility located across from the Hulk and next to the Kingpin arcade. There is a Fantastic 4 vehicle located in this section that is available for photo ops. I like this section when I am not with my kids. This section has the best rides in my opinion. It is not only home to my favorite ride, but also has my favorite treat, Auntie Anne's Pretzels. Other places to eat here include Marvel Character Dinner (another of my favs, where you eat amongst the Marvel charters), Cafe 4, and Captain America Diner. And no Islands of Adventure section would be complete without souvenir shops. This section has the Marvel Alterniverse Store, the Spider-Man Shop, the Marvel Boutique, and the Comic Book Shop, all selling Marvel souvenirs and merchandise at inflated tourist prices. This is a dated, even though they have implemented many updates. It is still great section of the park. One of my favorites. It was one of the park's original sections. Given that it is old and that Disney owns the rights to Marvel (and has opened some Marvel stuff on the West Coast), many are starting to ask how long this section will last. I hope for a long time, if you ask me. read more

Marvel Island feels like home to any superhero/ Marvel/ comic book fan. It really feels like you're walking through a comic book paradise and it's been executed really well. The various characters in action on all the surrounding buildings, along with the groovy thriller music really helps pull off this entire theme. Marvel Island is the first section of park off to the left when you enter Islands of Adventure. This section of park has a lot of great rides. The Hulk rollercoaster is well known because it's the giant green roller coaster that can be seen from very far away, and it's pretty epic. The way you get launched from the start is a crazy feeling. But, this ride is a little rough so just a heads up. There's also the Doctor Doom ride, which is a mild version of a drop ride, and it's very pleasant and provides a great view of both parks and Orlando at large when you're at the top. Storm's tea cups is hidden right by Hulk and is probably the most kid friendly ride, though when I've gone in the past few months I haven't seen it running at all. Not sure what the deal is. And then there's Spider-man. A virtual ride that's very vivid and a ton of fun, how can you not love this area?! There's a good amount of cool shops and eating options around too. As you're leaving this area you can often see various superhero's out saying hello and taking pictures- it really all makes my inner geek shine out like a beacon! read more

Awesome area. Funny seeing Marvel at this Universal, while Disney World has relatively nothing. In California, Disney has the Marvel stuff while Universal has pretty much nothing. I know it's due to whatever contract is in place, but it's still entertaining to see. Maybe Disney would do things different than Universal has on Marvel Superhero Island here - but there's no complaints as Universal has done a nice job. Sandwiched between Toon Lagoon and Seuss Landing, this is a nice area with plenty of shopping opportunities, several rides, eateries, and just an overall fun atmosphere. I mentioned shopping - there's a lot of cool stores and stuff to see. If you're a Marvel fan, you'll appreciate some of the items here. The Hulk coaster is here - if you're wanting to ride it, try to make this a priority as the lines tend to be long. The facades of the various heroes and villains on the buildings/stores are pretty cool. Whether you're a fan or not, most will appreciate it. Kids will have fun here, even though smaller children won't be able to ride the Hulk coaster, Doom's Fearfall, or the Storm Accelerator. Located in Universal's Islands of Adventure. TLDR: Comics come to life! ___ This is the first island you'll walk into if you go left from the entrance. This is usually the route I take when I'm visiting. I haven't been here since I really got into the Marvel movies, so I think I'll appreciate this island even more, but even as a casual fan, this is an excellent part of Islands of Adventure. Hulk - this is one of the best rollercoasters I have ever been on. That take off. Awesome. Amazing Spiderman - An awesome 3D adventure. This set the bar high for 3D rides and it still hold up all these years later. Dr Doom's Fearfall - Nah. I'm never riding this haha. Storm Acceleration - Basically the teacups. This always get me a little woozie, so I skip it. There are various character interactions throughout the day, where you can meet the heroes from the comics and movies. I've seen Wolverine, Spiderman, Cyclops. They have various places to shop and eat as well, as is always the case at theme parks. read more

This is the "city" where your favorite Marvel super heroes and villains hang out! The "island" is located in Universal's Islands of Adventure. I love the high energy music playing in the background as you wander the streets exploring the sights. A few of the highlights here are "The Incredible Hulk Roller Coaster", "Storm Force Accelerator", "Doctor Doom's Fearfall" and "The Amazing Adventures of Spider-man". All four rides involve action and adventure geared towards the thrill seekers amongst us. Throughout the day, you may be lucky enough to spot costumed characters making an appearance along the streets for autographs and photo ops. There are several souvenir shops available where you can pick up some super hero supplies and collectibles. In yo face, Disney! In yo face! (Even if they're, uh, making money from the Marvel merch sold here, you know it burns 'em up this Marvel themed area is here and not across town at Walt Disney World. If you're smart you know you can get cheaper Marvel gear elsewhere. Target has a selection of Marvel t-shirts for like $12.) I know everybody is over the moon about Harry Potter here, but as somebody who was born and raised on Marvel, the pen and ink versions that came long before the MCU, this was my favorite "Island" here at Universal Orlando. It doesn't hurt that for right now, Marvel land has the only traditional amusement park thrill rides, not counting the insanely low capacity Pteranodon Flyers in the Jurassic Park which I skipped. Hulk and Dr. Doom are both a lot of fun. I've written reviews for both elsewhere here. I skipped the Storm Accelerator teacup ride, but it's great they have a midway ride that won't terrify younger kids. It's nice to see they use a pioneeering black female character as the mascot, too. Representation matters. Go read some old Stan's Soapbox, right wing snowflakes. (I miss that guy already. That intro to Captain Marvel had me a little choked up.) Other Marvel characters loom large than life, too. Got the Fantastic Four who I was drawing was I was like five years old, and Storm's X-Men team-mate Wolverine with claws stretching like 10 feet. Fun stuff. Let's not forget Spidey, either. His high tech dark is something else. I wrote a review for that, too. You can miss my review if you want but don't miss the Web slinger in action. With that 3D it's like he's standing right on the dash of your car. It's fun for kids of all ages here. We missed any flesh and blood people dressed as Marvel icons but they do post the times you can catch your favorite non-DC heroes for all your selfie taking pleasure. Don't expect any images from the Marvel movies though. That Mouse across town owns them. Plenty of Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko looking artwork leading the way to Toon Lagoon here though read more

One of my favorite "islands" in Islands of Adventure at Universal Studios. The theming is perfect. All the super heroes and villains you could possibly want. Great stores that sell everything "superhero" you could possibly want. Has the awesome Hulk rollercoaster, Dr. Doom's Free Fall ride, and the Spiderman ride. All so much fun! A great place to take kids so they can get pictures with all the superheroes. This place is honestly so much fun-even with only a few rides-there is so much to see and look at! This place was freaking awesome! I went to Florida on vacation and this is my favorite part of Islands of Adventure, along with the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Now I'm a die hard comic book nerd. This spot will satisfy any geek like me. There are so many good references on the rides and off. They have heroes and villains walking around the park, and even fight sometimes! The Hulk rollercoaster was so cool! You go through Hulk's experiment and you hear "I-I think it's good... I think this time it's, going to work!" And then you LAUNCH! And yes it's great for kids. They have a Spider-Man simulator which makes you feel like you're getting your butt saved by Spidey!
