Very cute shop that offers a wide array of gelato, ice cream, and sorbet in a rather vast selection of flavors. They also offer specialty desserts, cake cones, bubbles waffles, etc. (including something that's wrapped in a cloud of cotton candy!!??), but I notice that as I get older, I need more simplicity in my life, so I forgo the elaborate get up and stick to basics. After all, it's an ice cream shop, so their ice cream needs to be good anyway regardless of creative ways to present it. The shop was clean, cute, and very welcoming. I was greeted immediately by a very nice worker who offered to let me sample some of the flavors that are offered. I was feeling like some coffee inspired sweets (though HONESTLY when am I not???) and chose the Caramel Macchiato flavored gelato and paired that with Tiramisu. Now...to get the two flavors, you HAVE to get no smaller than a medium cup, which is rather large, but I was game, so medium it is!!! I thought my flavors went great together in harmony along with the coffee theme. Caramel Macchiato is a flavor I've never seen ANYBODY else do before, so I knew I had to get that. It even had chunks of caramel chips in it, so I knew I had a winner. The flavor did overpower the tiramisu a little, but once I got to the bottom, I was able to really appreciate the mascarpone flavor of the gelato and indulge in the actual chunks of lady fingers that were mixed in. I love that I finally gave this place a chance after passing it by so many times. I'll be sure to check out their actual ice cream or MAYBE go with another gelato flavor. Would I go with the crazy concoctions they offer??? If I'm in the mood. read more

After spending the day at the beach, we needed some ice cream. Saw that Ice Cream Theory was nearby and has great reviews so we gave them a try. Our family of four was immediately greeted upon entering. The owner was there working. He and his team were very patient and helpful as we asked lots of questions and took our time deciding. The menu offers ice cream, gelato, milkshakes, and more. They also offer different types of fun cones. Our kids each ordered ice cream in a bubble waffle cone, my husband ordered a milkshake, and I an ice cream on a cloud cone. The cloud cone was insane! The photos don't do it justice. My eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach because one cloud cone can easily be shared by 2 or more people. The portions were huge, none of my family members could help me finish my cloud cone after finishing their treats. They did help me eat some of the cotton candy. Highly recommend Ice Cream Theory if you want a fun, delicious treat! read more

It could just be me, but it's not what I was expecting. No Sundaes, no real toppings other than sprinkles, chocolate chips, nuts and a handful of other dry toppings. I picked a medium cup of chocolate. It doesn't taste like real ice cream to me. It tastes more like ice milk or something. Not creamy but chunky. They do have several fancy cones to choose from. The interior is nice and the service was really good. Music is just a little bit loud. Hard to talk. Our server was extremely nice and very helpful. She was the best reason for coming here. read more

I stopped by Ice Cream theory after reading some of the great reviews and loved it! The service was awesome - shout out to Jules! I tried both the blueberry cheesecake and a scoop of the banana pudding (the scoops are generous). Both delish and will definitely go back! read more

The smell inside was this earthy stench from a candle/incense that didn't really suit the atmosphere of an ice cream parlor. However, the ice cream was delicious! Such a flavorful taste and texture to the ice cream that melted in my mouth once inserted via plastic spoon. I had the cookies and cream flavor and it was to live for! Would definitely recommend ice cream lovers in the area to stop by and enjoy the scrumptious dessert. read more

One of the coolest places to take kids for ice cream in this area. So many whimsical options like unicorn cones and mermaid tails and shark cones. Lots of great flavors of ice cream as well as gelato. Very nice family owned business. I loved the ice cream cone that was surrounded by cotton candy so it looked like it was floating in a cloud. Okay not only does their ice cream LOOK CUTE it also TASTES GOOD TOO. It's not just another instagram-pretty dessert that tastes average. Their ice cream is homemade from Ocala and tastes amazing. You can customize it to look adorable. I made mine look like a shark. The price to doll up your ice cream is a bit pricey, but it's so much fun! My shark fin came with googly eyes too and it looked super cute! This is my new favorite ice cream place ^_^ read more

Mediocre Ice Cream shop. The ice cream and Italian Ice are high quality. The cones are also pretty great. The problem is a lack of flavors, they had no chocolate the night we went which is insane for any Ice Cream shop. The prices are a bit high and the lack of options and toppings are a bit light. read more

I loved this ice cream shop! The flavors. The toppings. The choices of cones. My guilty pleasure as a grown adult is bubble gum and cotton candy flavored ice cream. I got a scoop of each with the "shark sugar" on top (and cone). So good! The next time I'm in the area, I will make a point to go here. If you're in the area, treat yourself and check out Ice Cream Theory! read more

This ice cream place is first off sooo freaking cute from the rainbow wall to the quotes all over the walls. And they have games at the tables. It is just sooo cute. I got a cloud cone which is a cone with ice cream then wrapped with COTTON CANDY!! I got limoncello sorbet in my cone and man was it refreshing. The cotton candy was light and fluffy and the whole thing was just so good even the cone. Plus guys it was seven bucks. This place is a little whimsical place that you can't help but feel happy in. The staff was really nice and let me sample different flavors before committing. Plus this spot is super instagramable. You have to go check it out the next time you get that hungry for some great ice cream. read more

$7 for an instagram worthy ice cream cone - amazing. After a week of eating my sister said she could still go for something sweet. Insane, but since it was her last evening here I searching on Yelp for desserts near us. This one popped up and off we went. They have a ton of instagram worthy cones, like unicorn, bunny, buccs, rays, etc. They also have a ton of awesome additions to the cones, like dipping it in peanut butter with chocolate chips (which is the one I chose.) After trying a vast majority of their gelato (yes, they have gelato!) I went with the Bourbon Butter Pecan. My husband was shocked I didn't go with the bunny cone, but I was more interested in enjoying the taste than doing it for the 'gram. They put a HUGE scoop of ice cream or gelato on the cone. I was drowning in gelato and I was ok with it. I liked my flavor so much that I'll probably get it again, and I'm the type of person that likes trying variety. We were the only ones in the place at about 7 p.m. on a Monday, but I guess everyone else was eating dinner. This was our dinner. The decor of the place is super cute. Tons of awesome backdrops for photos. read more

It is about 4.5 stars in my book. It does bring something fresh to the community. Is it an art, ice cream, or beautiful treat? All of that. They have the gelato and ice cream section. I would go to the gelato because they are more interesting. We taste many flavor. I got the banana foster and bourbon gelato. This two flavors is excellent taste and not find elsewhere. Then you can choose the type of make up or just regular cone. For the experience, I would go for the makeup cone they have. We got the clown cone. This is with cotton candy. We take a part and eat those separately. By the way, extra scoop is only a dollar more. The clown cone is $7 and extra scoop make it to the $8. Not cheap, but they give good quantity of gelato to make up the price. read more

If I'm thinking about this as my dessert dinner after dinner I think it deserves a 5 star. *It's close to Westchase, which doesn't have good ice cream options (as of the date that I write this review in June 2018) *The ice cream is delicious *Creative cone creations are whimsical and tasty *The Shop is clean and inviting *The Service is fun and friendly I can't think of any cons. I've known this parking lot to get full fast, but I found a spot right up front in the designated parking slots for Ice Cream Theory. So far my favorite ice cream is the banana pudding and my fave cone is the lucky which has a sweet icing rolled in lucky charms cereal. My kid loved the Lightning cone which features a white chocolate lightning bolt dyed blue...great for little Tampa Bay Lightning fans. He also likes the cloud cone. Who doesn't like cotton candy AND ice cream! So glad this cute shop opened nearby. I'm a fan and will be a regular! read more

Stopped by for a scoop - they were out of gelato which was sad, but they made up for it with the ice cream, which very closely resembled gelato! It was rich and creamy and smooth. They don't make it in-house, but it's good nonetheless. I loved that the chips in the mint choc. chip weren't too hard like they can be in some ice creams. It was over $7 for a small cup which is a little nuts, but that's how things are these days. The staff member was very friendly. Parking might be a pain, as there's a small lot shared among several stores, but I believe there is additional parking in the back. I'd recommend checking out Pacific Thai while you're over here. read more

My review is based off of the decor and not the actual Ice Cream itself. Although very tasty, the Ice Cream I had was a bit much too sweet for me, which didn't allow me to finish it. I had a chocolate chip and peanut butter cone stuffed with moose tracks ice cream, with a unicorn horn shaped piece of candy on top that sent my blood sugar through the roof! After taking a few bites and pictures with the cone, I had no other choice but to throw the remains in the trash which was a bummer for the price. As far as the decor goes, I would give this place 5 stars. Everything ranges from different shades of pink and yellow, and the lighting is just right for the perfect selfie. I also liked the fact that the girl working the front counter was very sweet and told us a little about the owner. read more

Looks like just a little boring little ice cream Place but it was so much better than expected. I don't know what brand they carry but it is some of the best I've ever had. So rich and flavorful. The cheesecake flavors are out of the world. They have an incredible variety of cones and fun toppings too. I love that they are open later my husband and I often find ourselves swinging past there after dinner for a sweet night cap. Decor is so fun and place is super clean. Staff always is friendly and nice. I hope it stays. It's a great little gem. read more

Delicious ice cream and gelato served here with huge portions at a reasonable price! They have crazy ice cream cone options from cotton candy, mermaid tails, lightning bolt, unicorns and more! Tons of specialty cones covered in chocolate, icing, peanut butter and has Oreos, gummy bears, chocolates chips, sprinkles, fruit loops, fruity pebbles, cookie crisps and too many more to name. They said they switch out their ice cream flavors about every 3 days so if you see a flavor you like you better order it then! HUGEEE scoops!! When I say huge I mean it! I love my ice cream and can eat a ton of it! Ordered my 3 scoops in a cup and the put the ice cream cone on top and it was enormous and delicious. I thought the praline pecan tasted the best with the moose tracks! Good reasonable prices and specialty cones for $7. Definitely coming back to get more! read more

I found Ice Cream Theory on Yelp and drolled over many of the photos posted by other Yelpers. Ice Cream Theory has a large case of regular ice cream and a smaller case of eye popping gelato. The gelato is a dollar more than the regular (tasted generic, not freshly made) ice cream. I purchased a cone with peanut butter around the top and chocolate sprinkles attached with a scoop of vanilla butterfinger gelato that was superb. However, without sampling I said I'd like a second scoop of the tiramisu and it tasted like caramel gelato with chocolate flakes. I didnt like it and ended up putting the scoop in a bowl and discarding it. Also purchased was one scoop of mocha gelato in an oreo cone. The mocha gelato tasted pretty good I'm not a big coffee fan and I liked it. However, the oreo cone that had white cookie cream around the top with cookie chunks tasted off because Ice Cream Theory used store brand chocolate cream cookies instead of Oreos and expects customers not to tell the difference! Ice Cream Theory has probably 10 different speciality cones to choose from including s'mores. Both items purchased came out to $17 and I tipped since the staff was nice and the store was clean. Due to Covid, a sign is posted near the register where customers wait until it's their turn to browse the ice cream and gelato cases. Two; four person booths were open during my visit along with four spots at the bar for customers to sit inside. I might return to Ice Cream Theory I applaud their creativity but not some of their product. read more

Pre-pandemic this place was a true gem. It seems like the lack of turn over has really hurt this cute little shop. The last time we were in, all our ice cream (4 flavors in total) was freezer burned and almost inedible. We ended up throwing it away after just a few bites. I really hope this place can get back on its feet with some more traffic or by making smaller batches so they aren't forced to serve such poor quality. I truly hate leaving poor reviews, but I feel like I needed to amend my prior review because after our last visit, it was certainly not the same. read more

Poor system for displaying menu options. There is no good list of toppings just a glass case hard to read cup labels through. I was discouraged from ordering the topping I wanted from the single salesperson in a crowded shop. The display board flashes on and off. Understaffed and overpriced. Very Minimal parking. We had two different scoops of gelato. The caramel biscotti one was fine but the Buckeyes in the buckeye flavor are so bland and dry you would never know what they were supposed to be. read more

You guys this place is magical ! From the amazing ice cream, to fabulous insta photo op opportunities, and the amazing staff ! This was a late night craving, and I am so happy I found this gem. I would highly recommend to anyone who has a late night sweet tooth craving, a nice family outing for some ice cream, and overall a super friendly and fun place to enjoy. We have been here a few times and the staff is very friendly and accommodating and the ice cream is good.

Paying over $12 for a two scoop because you can't get two different flavors as a small because you don't want a lot of ice cream is CRAZY.... The gelato didn't disappoint, the 3 stars is because I think this establishment could make more profit if the staff was trained in customer service, such as "have you ever been here before ?" They have the toppings at the end of the counter after you pay, so I didn't even know they were options, better placement would be above the selection of ice cream/ gelato. Also they do specialty cones such as mermaid/ unicorn etc. but no pictures where your ordering to entice the customer to pay the extra for these novelty's. Only 1 table outside? Hum, I think I know why. What a shame, I think this place has extreme potential to be soooo much more than it currently is. read more

Actual rating 3.5 stars It's a cute little shop in the middle of oldsmar. They do have Instagram worthy ice cream photos so get your camera ready! It still has a ma and pa vibe to the shop so it feels like it's almost hipster, but not fully there yet. Still a cute place! read more

This place dressed up the ice cream cone fashionable! There were many different ice cream flavor and different decorated cones to choose from. If one cannot make up his/her mind , always go to their pre-set menu. That's what we did. We got a #1 cloud cone with extra scope. The cotton candy was freshly made and the girl put a lot of gelato in a cone . Adding the colorful candy sprinkle, it was such a eye catching cone! The gelato tasted good. I'm going to be the odd man out and say this place is just ok. The hype was better than the actual product. We ordered a dipped cone ($6) a chocolate chip sundae that had zero hot fudge and used average store bought cookies in it and a kid's cup. The cost was $15. I hope they make it because I do like seeing small businesses survive but I can't see myself going back. The product was average, the ice cream was average and the atmosphere was just ok.
