Very cute shop that offers a wide array of gelato, ice cream, and sorbet in a rather vast selection of flavors. They also offer specialty desserts, cake cones, bubbles waffles, etc. (including something that's wrapped in a cloud of cotton candy!!??), but I notice that as I get older, I need more simplicity in my life, so I forgo the elaborate get up and stick to basics. After all, it's an ice cream shop, so their ice cream needs to be good anyway regardless of creative ways to present it. The shop was clean, cute, and very welcoming. I was greeted immediately by a very nice worker who offered to let me sample some of the flavors that are offered. I was feeling like some coffee inspired sweets (though HONESTLY when am I not???) and chose the Caramel Macchiato flavored gelato and paired that with Tiramisu. Now...to get the two flavors, you HAVE to get no smaller than a medium cup, which is rather large, but I was game, so medium it is!!! I thought my flavors went great together in harmony along with the coffee theme. Caramel Macchiato is a flavor I've never seen ANYBODY else do before, so I knew I had to get that. It even had chunks of caramel chips in it, so I knew I had a winner. The flavor did overpower the tiramisu a little, but once I got to the bottom, I was able to really appreciate the mascarpone flavor of the gelato and indulge in the actual chunks of lady fingers that were mixed in. I love that I finally gave this place a chance after passing it by so many times. I'll be sure to check out their actual ice cream or MAYBE go with another gelato flavor. After spending the day at the beach, we needed some ice cream. Saw that Ice Cream Theory was nearby and has great reviews so we gave them a try. Our family of four was immediately greeted upon entering. The owner was there working. He and his team were very patient and helpful as we asked lots of questions and took our time deciding. The menu offers ice cream, gelato, milkshakes, and more. They also offer different types of fun cones. Our kids each ordered ice cream in a bubble waffle cone, my husband ordered a milkshake, and I an ice cream on a cloud cone. The cloud cone was insane! The photos don't do it justice. My eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach because one cloud cone can easily be shared by 2 or more people. The portions were huge, none of my family members could help me finish my cloud cone after finishing their treats. They did help me eat some of the cotton candy. I got a cloud cone which is a cone with ice cream then wrapped with COTTON CANDY!! I got limoncello sorbet in my cone and man was it refreshing. The cotton candy was light and fluffy and the whole thing was just so good even the cone. Plus guys it was seven bucks. This place is a little whimsical place that you can't help but feel happy in. $7 for an instagram worthy ice cream cone - amazing. After a week of eating my sister said she could still go for something sweet. Insane, but since it was her last evening here I searching on Yelp for desserts near us. This one popped up and off we went. They have a ton of instagram worthy cones, like unicorn, bunny, buccs, rays, etc. They also have a ton of awesome additions to the cones, like dipping it in peanut butter with chocolate chips (which is the one I chose.) After trying a vast majority of their gelato (yes, they have gelato!) I went with the Bourbon Butter Pecan. My husband was shocked I didn't go with the bunny cone, but I was more interested in enjoying the taste than doing it for the 'gram. They put a HUGE scoop of ice cream or gelato on the cone. I was drowning in gelato and I was ok with it. I liked my flavor so much that I'll probably get it again, and I'm the type of person that likes trying variety. We were the only ones in the place at about 7 p.m. on a Monday, but I guess everyone else was eating dinner. This was our dinner. The decor of the place is super cute. It was over $7 for a small cup which is a little nuts, but that's how things are these days. The staff member was very friendly. Parking might be a pain, as there's a small lot shared among several stores, but I believe there is additional parking in the back. Looks like just a little boring little ice cream Place but it was so much better than expected. I don't know what brand they carry but it is some of the best I've ever had. So rich and flavorful. The cheesecake flavors are out of the world. They have an incredible variety of cones and fun toppings too. I love that they are open later my husband and I often find ourselves swinging past there after dinner for a sweet night cap. Decor is so fun and place is super clean. I would go to the gelato because they are more interesting. We taste many flavor. I got the banana foster and bourbon gelato. This two flavors is excellent taste and not find elsewhere. Then you can choose the type of make up or just regular cone. For the experience, I would go for the makeup cone they have. We got the clown cone. This is with cotton candy. We take a part and eat those separately. By the way, extra scoop is only a dollar more. The clown cone is $7 and extra scoop make it to the $8. If I'm thinking about this as my dessert dinner after dinner I think it deserves a 5 star. *It's close to Westchase, which doesn't have good ice cream options (as of the date that I write this review in June 2018) *The ice cream is delicious *Creative cone creations are whimsical and tasty *The Shop is clean and inviting *The Service is fun and friendly I can't think of any cons. I've known this parking lot to get full fast, but I found a spot right up front in the designated parking slots for Ice Cream Theory. So far my favorite ice cream is the banana pudding and my fave cone is the lucky which has a sweet icing rolled in lucky charms cereal. My kid loved the Lightning cone which features a white chocolate lightning bolt dyed blue...great for little Tampa Bay Lightning fans. He also likes the cloud cone. My review is based off of the decor and not the actual Ice Cream itself. Although very tasty, the Ice Cream I had was a bit much too sweet for me, which didn't allow me to finish it. I had a chocolate chip and peanut butter cone stuffed with moose tracks ice cream, with a unicorn horn shaped piece of candy on top that sent my blood sugar through the roof! After taking a few bites and pictures with the cone, I had no other choice but to throw the remains in the trash which was a bummer for the price. As far as the decor goes, I would give this place 5 stars. Everything ranges from different shades of pink and yellow, and the lighting is just right for the perfect selfie. I found Ice Cream Theory on Yelp and drolled over many of the photos posted by other Yelpers. Ice Cream Theory has a large case of regular ice cream and a smaller case of eye popping gelato. The gelato is a dollar more than the regular (tasted generic, not freshly made) ice cream. I purchased a cone with peanut butter around the top and chocolate sprinkles attached with a scoop of vanilla butterfinger gelato that was superb. However, without sampling I said I'd like a second scoop of the tiramisu and it tasted like caramel gelato with chocolate flakes. I didnt like it and ended up putting the scoop in a bowl and discarding it. Also purchased was one scoop of mocha gelato in an oreo cone. The mocha gelato tasted pretty good I'm not a big coffee fan and I liked it. However, the oreo cone that had white cookie cream around the top with cookie chunks tasted off because Ice Cream Theory used store brand chocolate cream cookies instead of Oreos and expects customers not to tell the difference! Ice Cream Theory has probably 10 different speciality cones to choose from including s'mores. Both items purchased came out to $17 and I tipped since the staff was nice and the store was clean. Due to Covid, a sign is posted near the register where customers wait until it's their turn to browse the ice cream and gelato cases. Two; four person booths were open during my visit along with four spots at the bar for customers to sit inside. I might return to Ice Cream Theory I applaud their creativity but not some of their product. read more

Poor system for displaying menu options. There is no good list of toppings just a glass case hard to read cup labels through. I was discouraged from ordering the topping I wanted from the single salesperson in a crowded shop. The display board flashes on and off. Understaffed and overpriced. Very Minimal parking. We had two different scoops of gelato. The caramel biscotti one was fine but the Buckeyes in the buckeye flavor are so bland and dry you would never know what they were supposed to be. read more

Pre-pandemic this place was a true gem. It seems like the lack of turn over has really hurt this cute little shop. The last time we were in, all our ice cream (4 flavors in total) was freezer burned and almost inedible. We ended up throwing it away after just a few bites. I really hope this place can get back on its feet with some more traffic or by making smaller batches so they aren't forced to serve such poor quality. You guys this place is magical ! From the amazing ice cream, to fabulous insta photo op opportunities, and the amazing staff ! This was a late night craving, and I am so happy I found this gem. I wanted to try the "Cloud Ice cream" and it did not disappoint! It's a waffle cone with a cotton candy cloud around the rim, and I personally chose the Superman ice cream flavor! It was AMAZING! They have the toppings at the end of the counter after you pay, so I didn't even know they were options, better placement would be above the selection of ice cream/ gelato. If one cannot make up his/her mind , always go to their pre-set menu. That's what we did. We got a #1 cloud cone with extra scope. The cotton candy was freshly made and the girl put a lot of gelato in a cone . Adding the colorful candy sprinkle, it was such a eye catching cone! The gelato tasted good. I'm going to be the odd man out and say this place is just ok. The hype was better than the actual product. We ordered a dipped cone ($6) a chocolate chip sundae that had zero hot fudge and used average store bought cookies in it and a kid's cup. The cost was $15. I hope they make it because I do like seeing small businesses survive but I can't see myself going back. The product was average, the ice cream was average and the atmosphere was just ok.
