It was one of those days only ice cream could make better. You know, those long days with no end in sight. "Ice Cream Cottage" was in my bookmarks for a long time. Today I was in the area and needed some soothing. The parking lot is small, so make sure you get there before the crowed. I wasn't so lucky, so I had to park on a side street. The place had a lot of people outside and they all looked happy. The building is small and feels like it has a lot of history. If those walls could talk, what would they say. Inside, it looks similar to another popular ice cream chain. Down to the Ice cream cookies. Ice Cream Cottage seems to have more selections, but I was there for soft serve. But I would have to wait, the staff seemed to move very slow. In fact, there was one person ahead of me, but I still waited. Finally one of the three employees asked to help. I didn't waste time and ordered a waffle cone with soft vanilla. I wanted more ice cream, but for the price, I didn't complain. I just took it and sat outside. I must say, it was okay. It was a strong second to the main chain ice cream shop. I did like it. I think maybe next time I will try their specialties. It might make the difference. I don't want anyone thinking I didn't like the ice cream. I definitely liked it. But when it comes to easing my long day whose, I like my ice cream with a little more comfort and a fuller cone.

Visit Date: February 20, 2021 I stopped here with my son on the way back from our trip to the children's museum of the east end. It was halfway between going back to where we had to be and the children's museum so it was a good rest point/stop. My son wanted an Italian Ice and some candy I got a small cup of chocolate peanut butter ice cream with peanut butter sauce, hot fudge and whipped cream. The ice cream was good I love coming to independent places over a chain when I can. This place is definitely worth checking out!

So after hearing about "the best ice cream on Long Island" we decided to give Ice Cream Cottage a try on a hot summer Sunday night. Upon arrival it was obvious this place was very crowded (which is usually a good sign) but after walking in it was like this place is trying to simulate what being in a tiny can of sardines must feel like. There were probably 20-25people inside a building built for 10 AT MOST. Needless to say this was absolutely horrible. The setup was godawful. You wait on a line that wraps around in a "u" fashion, get to the end & order, then go back up through the gauntlet of sweat and tears to pay. This alone will be the reason I personally will not be returning. The ice cream was good. Not great, and certainly not "the best". Shakes were $6 and tasted no better or worse than any other $3-$4 shake elsewhere. The ice cream was also good...just nothing special at all. 3 of the first choices that were listed as available flavors weren't available so that sucked, and there really wasn't anything special or different about what WAS available here. I'm really not sure why everyone loves and raves about this place so much. By the time you actually get down to order you're so agitated and sweat drenched that it's not really enjoyable. Personally I will save the few bucks and go somewhere else where it won't take close to 30 minutes to get a shake. I will say though that the staff were all friendly and hard working despite the sweat shop conditions they're working in.

Thank you Belly Bites! Ice cream only tastes better when it's free. I couldn't believe how big the scoops were for a small cone! I got a cannoli and sicilian pistachio. The cannoli didn't taste authentic to me, there wasn't any hint of cannoli flavoring? The cream just tasted like cream, not like ricotta or vanilla. They had small chocolate chips in it. The sicilian pistachio is much better than the regular pistachio. I was told that they import cream from Italy to make it. The regular pistachio tasted really artificial for me. There was one turn off for me, which was the pistachios, it was really salty?? Overall, I'd give it 3 stars but since it's free I gave it an extra star. read more

This place continues to serve the freshest and creamiest ice cream on Long Island. And the value can't be beat, buy one sundae and get the second for a dollar....lol....prices are crazy reasonable. My only objection is that they do not offer their salted caramel soft serve often enough, it's the best tasting ice cream I've ever had but they only have it every 5-6 weeks or so. Anyway, you should check them out cuz you will not be disappointed A+++ ! read more

It's a small shop but it can't be missed, driving down mauntauk, you will easily spot the oversized ice cream cone. He it crowded inside and hard to see the flavors you want when there are many people standing around, but oh well. It can be easily forgiven with all the wonderful flavors. They have a big selection that also changes seasonally. They have many different cones and toppings. They have some cookies, rainbow cakes, fun candies, drinks, and milkshakes. Definitely a great place to check out at least once especially during those hot sunny days. Forget about hot, I come here in the winter as well! Its always a great time for ice cream. My absolute favorite is the brownie lovers delight, it will hold a space in my heart. That's simply because I love brownies and all things chocolate! And the staff is helpful and very kind. Seriously some of the best ice cream I've ever had, and this is coming from a picky ice cream eater. The mint cookies and cream is probably my favorite, and the Bartman is great too (butterfinger flavored of course). We even got a Bartman ice cream cake here. Their rocky road is also awesome. They're certainly not skimpy on flavor add-ins. I appreciate that they're open late too. Whose ice cream cravings don't come between 8 and 10pm anyway? read more

Ice Cream Cottage is a small shop located quite close to Smith's Point Beach, and is one of my favorite ice cream places besides Magic Fountain. They have loads of homemade flavors to choose from -- nothing overly wild, but your standard choices plus a few mash-ups. You can also get italian ice, gelato, and frozen yogurt, but I haven't tried those yet. Mint Cookie is one of my favorites with its generous Oreo pieces and not too minty flavor (this is important for some reason). I've tried a handful of flavors and was only disappointed in the s'mores (didn't really taste like s'mores to me). It's my goal to try most of the flavors before summer ends *choo choo noise* Next stop, my thighs! read more

Small shop with a ton of fun flavors, many toppings and several cone options. Hard ice cream and soft serve. It's Covid ready with plastic screens, staff wearing masks etc... Ice cream was good, tried a few flavors like vanilla, cheesecake, pistachio, cotton candy, mint Oreo.... There's a sign saying max of 4 people but people kept pouring in while I was there and 1 customer had no mask. Not really their fault, fully staffed by teenagers who I don't expect to confront customers. Would go again when I'm in the area read more

I have been going to ice cream cottage since I was a little girl it was my family's tradition every Sunday after church family owned business to another family is the best business, it's also been a tradition, that I have spread to others as well, is choosing your favorite ice cream and turning it into an ice cream cake with whatever you want, if you want a picture or just happy birthday mom, it can be as simple as that, or as extravagant as a picture of your mom on your cake. My favorite is strawberry cheesecake with chocolate crunchies in the middle and the same strawberry cheesecake on the top and bottom. This is my all time every birthday favorite place! read more

Just ordered from them AGAIN on Door Dash. Their ice cream is pretty decent. However, after I spent $50 on ice cream they refused the side of hot fudge I wrote in my order because they felt they weren't "paid for it." I paid for the order before it left the store with my credit card. They are so greedy that instead of just throwing a little tub of it in they took it upon themselves not to send it because it wasn't listed as an individual charge. Greedy & immature people. Carvel is better anyway. read more

Located in a standalone building (and tiny "parking lot") in front of South Fork Beverage, this…read morelittle 2-room shop a is run by an unflinchingly accommodating woman. Said employee/owner kept insisting "lemme know what you think next time" before I'd made a decision to buy anything at all. Fortunately, she seemed to genuinely love what she was doing, so I overlooked that because her enthusiasm was pretty contagious. Packed to the teeth with mostly at-home-use DIY items, there's a formidable stockade of likely-esoteric baking supplies, though I'm unsure of how the prices stack up. With signs everywhere your eyes dart (no refunds/exchanges, would imagine a CC restriction of some sort, etc) and ubiquitous plastic receptacles of sweets, it's overwhelming in a way that such a place can easily be without meaning it. Luckily, individual pieces lined one wall, and I chose 4, @ $3.32 by weight. 1. Milk chocolate truffle-ish peppermint-covered doodad was alright but had a lingering tinge of staleness (not sure which component) and was VERY hard when I took the first bite. 2. PB fudge, the smallest piece they had, wasn't any better than my homemade (admittedly pretty substandard) iteration. 3. Dark chocolate coconut cluster was tasty but not much of an improvement from the boxed variety (Whitman's/Stouffer's/etc). 4. So much reluctance preceded my final decision, from the flavor medley (or assumed alck thereof) to the fact that the season for it had yet to arrive. IDK how long the chocolate-covered candy cane had been sitting in the seemingly-airtight container, but it must've been a while, since it was soft as anything and tasted like a bag of old air, even the part not tainted by low-quality chocolate; I gave it a chance and kept chewing and chewing and eventually just regurgitated it, a rarity that sets off more alarms than the most heavily secure home. The chocolate-covered portion, as I had a bad feeling of, was absolutely inedible and an offensive combination. I have forsaken peppermint gum/other products and chocolate for quite a while following this blasphemous catastrophe. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt: Much like Candy Island down the road -- even more so, in fact -- I hope for the best but expect the worst (although it seems to be a mainstay of some sort...or maybe it's just old and rundown). Hours are seasonal and change constantly, so call before you go (don't rely on their site, though it does exist and is more informative than I anticipated). It's not a pizzeria or nail salon, so you'd think it wouldn't get lost in the shuffle around here, but it does, perhaps due to its execution. (I started to pen this review as a 4, having not eaten what I'd purchased, and leaving a star open for my return to purchase some baking knick-knacks. It has been immediately and GENEROUSLY downgraded to a 2. The proprietor's unbridled warmth, sorry to say, doesn't make up for the quality of all of the edible products I sampled here.)

I ordered chocolate ice cream with rainbow sprinkles and my husband ordered coffee. My chocolate ice cream was extremely creamy and delicious. Their sprinkles were also fantastic. My husband said his ice cream was outstanding! They offer a looooot of toppings. Come hungry!

As an Italian heritage family this has been a source of pride. However over the past couple of years we have taken to trusting the team at Carmelina's to provide food for a number of events. Yesterday was the largest as we catered an engagement party for over 130 people at the Masury in Center Moriches. The food was top notch (chicken parm, eggplant rollatini, chicken franchese, meatballs and garlic knots to go with homemade lasagna and sausage). I truly LOVE this place. Carvel who? OMG, the best Ice Cream I have ever had. There are so many to chose from. Here are some of my personal favorites: Chocolate Overdose - I am not a huge chocolate fan, but when I do crave it, this is where I go. Dark Chocolate Ice Cream, Brownie Pieces, Fudge and Chocolate Chips. Seriously? Wow. Pistachio Nut - SOO many whole pistachios in here. Packed with flavor. Cannoli - Delicious with mini chocolate chips and cannoli shell pieces. Rainbow Cookie - My ALL TIME FAVORITE! Huge chunks of rainbow cookies, with rainbow sprinkles all mixed into vanilla ice cream. I bought a quart once (ok twice) and ate the whole darn thing in one night. They also have a large selection of "retro" candies. Friendly, helpful and inexpensive. We now buy all of our Birthday Cakes from here. You truly have to try this place. read more

This place is truly one of a kind! All their ice creams here are home made, and delicious! There are many different flavors to die for! They also have italian ices, milkshakes, sno cones and much more! Including a wide variety of nuts, cookies and candy! If you need a birthday cake, they make the best ice cream cakes here that put carvels to shame. This place is very clean which for me, is very important. The staff here is extremely professional too and they really know how to decorate a cake. read more
