This rink is about as good as it gets in regard to a community. I've skated on better ice, but rarely have found a group of people more open, inviting and helpful. As for the ice conditions coastal Florida is gonna be a battle against nature daily to keep great ice. But the community of hockey players is second to none. Éric and Karen Perrin are awesome they run the adult hockey program. For the uninitiated Éric Perrin played for the Tampa Bay Lightning when they won the Stanley Cup in '03-04. This was a pretty bad experience all around. The ice was overcrowded and didn't feel safe because they schedule A LOT of birthday parties at once during the public skate time. I was terrified to run someone over. On top of that, the rink is just not in great shape, as evidenced by: With what must have been close to a couple hundred people crammed into the building between parents and kids. One of the main doors to get into the rink area was marked as broken, and it caused a lot of issues trying to enter and exit, and confusion over whether both doors of the set were broken or just one, as the signage and cone was only on one of them. The entry to the ice itself is tiny and easily blocked by one person, let alone people also to exit the ice. Water was dripping from the rafters onto my skate bag. The rental skates are in BAD condition, like, I'm aware that rentals aren't good but most of these were nasty and should have been replaced already. And because of the massive crowd and gift tables from the parties there was basically no place to sit and put skates on. It was a couple of our kids' first time skating and I wish I'd have just taken them to one of the other rinks nearby, but I wanted to have access to a walker for any of them that wanted to use it. On that note, I purchased a walker rental but I was not given the correct color wristband to get one, so actually getting the walker was more challenging than it needed to be. For this..."experience", we paid a little more than $70. Maybe it's better on a weekday but I can't say I'm very excited to go back and see if that's true or not after the experience we had today. It kind of feels like we survived an incident rather than had a fun family outing. read more

I attended the Daytona Ice Arena as part of a contingent of adults who accompanied young children for a birthday party. I thought it was a bit strange that the ice rink did not provide food of their own, but rather brought in Domino's. But it is what it is. The staff was friendly enough, but I did think they nickel and domed you. Like if kids are skating, they will rent you a kind of walker to help keep them upright. The party area was two tables, one for each party. The people hosting it said it was two hundred and fifty dollars for ten kids, so twenty-five dollars a head, not a terrible price, but I didn't think they gave a lot for the money. Pro.tip, if you go, remember that it is an ice skating rink, so it is chilly in there so bring a jacket. read more

There is more to do in Daytona than go to the beach. The staff here was very helpful and friendly. The prices are reasonable. We really enjoyed our visit. We came here for the free skate. The times that they offer the free skate vary, so you will need to check the website before you plan a visit. They have these red plastic walker looking things that poor skaters can use to assist them, and I must admit they are pretty awesome. My daughter, who is 3, used them and I was able to get her around the rink very easily. So this place is good for toddlers. Even though it is sunny Florida, you will also need to dress warm. It is a bit chilly in the rink. The ice does get a bit haggard due to the heavy use. But I am not a professional and they would only waste good ice if they re-iced on my account. My final tip is to get the smallest size skate that your feet can fit in to and make sure that they do not give you hockey skates. I did not know the difference, but learned that hockey skates do not have the toe brakes. I recommend paying this place a visit if you are in town and looking for an alternative to the beach. read more

Horrible experience. Went to watch a college hockey game. Charged 10 dollars at the door. We were watching our home team the Embry-Riddle Eagles (go birds ). I want to explain how crazy charging for a CLUB HOCKEY GAME is. Miami and FSU do not charge for home games. They are way bigger and (as a Eagle parent this is breaking heart to say) better. With a charge of 10 dollars I expected a state of the arts facility. Boy was I wrong! The place is a dump! The bathrooms a feces smeared all over the urinal. I couldn't breathe in the bathrooms. As a parent I am disappointed and disgruntled. I just watch my sweet boy play the game he loves. I will never be attending another Eagles home game at Daytona Ice Arena. Worst part is, I checked my credit card statement after and they charged a 5 dollar credit fee. Utterly ridiculous and unacceptable. Had a much better time at Mr. Petman Supercenter. Some of the workers should be on display there! read more

Just went here today. It's a great find, everyone who works here is so nice. The place is clean the rink is big. It's a great place to skate. If you want snacks they have it too. We would come here again. read more

This is an inexpensive, family friendly ice rink, and a great hangout for all ages! My children love spending time here. The facility is clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. If you want to learn to ice skate or play hockey, then this is the place to go. There are "FREE" learn to skate & learn to play hockey programs offered monthly. I took my 3 Daughter who are under 4 years old to "open skate."... only 2 of my girls could fit the ice skates, cool. Well it cost me $24 dollars for two children. $6 just for one of the carts for a child to hold onto if they can't skate. What a rip off... Well sadly no other children came but I fully get why. About 6-8 professional skaters came to skate. One started helping my Daughters but let me know they offer a class for $100 that might be better to start with. My Daughter started having fun and went into the middle area on the skate floor, but was quickly brought back to me. I said what's wrong... "Only the professionals can be in the middle." WAIT... isn't this open skate? Why wasn't I told this before spending all this money just to have to keep telling my girls they couldn't freely go all around??? They're not even old enough to understand that. So around $25 for them to skate maybe 15 mins total. This isn't the way it was as a child. Skating was for kids but sadly I guessed things have changed. So after more and more kept being said to me by these older professional skaters I had enough and left. I wouldn't waste money ever going again & never would I bring young children. I also was told I needed to hold my two year old because she could get ran over and hurt... So she can't run around on the regular floor? You expect her to understand having to be held down when she is a child? Again... why was this not told to me before paying? read more

The reason I am taking off a star is the horrible food. The people were nice as was the facility, but the food was just plain gross. There is a bar here and it seemed to have good prices. The menu consisted of greasy unpalatable fries, pizza and wings (which we didn't order because they take 30 minutes to cook!?), and other snacks. The kids didn't hate the churros, but they managed to make popcorn disgusting! Go and enjoy the skating, it is great, but don't plan on a snack. read more

I am a hockey player there and they completely prioritize the figure skaters. They allow them to stay on the ice after their time ends and our time begins. They wont even let us on the ice during that time. The building itself in bad condition. There is mold in the bathrooms and half of the time the bathroom stalls are out of order. The food at the snack bar is gross and overpriced. However, the hockey coaches are very nice and good at their job. read more

The owners are good guys and seem to have a heart for kids they are knowledgeable about their rental and for sale equipment. The rink is clean as well as the facilities. They have a monitor for the free skate time and the skating coaches for lessons are very patient with the kids. The Zamboni guy even showed my 3 year old around the machine. Thanks! read more

We recently went here on a Saturday night for the Ice Party. The fees were reasonable and the rental skates were okay. They even rent walkers to help the less experienced skaters be more comfortable while they are out on the ice. The ice, however, was a bit uneven and rough (neglected?) in a few areas, which made it a little more difficult to skate. Another issue is that there is only one small opening to the rink for skaters to get on and off the ice, which is a bit unsafe when multiple people are trying to use it. With all that being said, it is the only ice skating rink around and for what they offer, we had a good time. read more
