An event was scheduled 4 weeks in advance. When the group arrived the owner came out the door and told us they were closed.

Show was great - KUDOS TO THE COWBOYS/GIRLS! You all are phenomenal! The "MC" and "MC Clown" were entertaining as well. I just wish there wasn't so much downtime between riders and events. Although you did better than other rodeos. Truly was a fun and entertaining evening! Thank you!!

Built in 1945 to house the popular Youth Fair, the Livestock Pavilion has become the city's oldest…read morevenue. It still to this day is the premier venue for the Youth Fair but has evolved into so much more. It's a covered outdoor facility with 4,000+ retractable seats so it originally was purposed for agricultural events. These days you can attend a variety of events but the majority are still agricultural related. Some of the latter are the several rodeos, plant sales, 4 H club, horse sales and my fave the cattle roundup. The roundup actually starts off as a cattle drive with cowboys riding horseback through downtown Ocala all the way to the Livestock Pavilion. It's quite a sight to behold as all of the streets are blocked off the cattle drive! Some of the non-agricultural events are the Chili Cook Off, gun buy back and the annual Sportsman's Feast. At the feast you can chow on all game, fowl and water critters you'd like. The Pavilion as well as the surrounding rooms can be rented out and most of the local plant clubs hold their monthly meetings there.

The atmosphere really stands out--especially during night bowling when the lights and music make everything feel more exciting. The staff is friendly and helpful, which makes the whole experience even better. Overall, it's a fun spot to hang out and enjoy a night out with friends or family.

We decided on meeting on a Saturday afternoon to hopefully avoid crowds. I believe someone from our group reserved 2 lanes for us and had to place a deposit. I was last to arrive and the kids at the desk were not present and then when they finally showed up, they were short & rude. Any time I glanced over while I was playing, no one was at the desk. It was busy while we were there but it became busier as the afternoon turned to evening. While we were playing, we experienced issues with the lane several times. Sometimes help arrived quickly, where other times we waited for a good 20 minutes. After we finished bowling, some of us stayed to go to the bar and play pool. The drinks were very expensive and you had to pay to play pool, which was super overpriced. All in all, I would like to explore other bowling alleys in Ocala but I think most places replicate a Chucky Cheese kinda establishment.

I recently stayed a few nights at Avid Hotel in Ocala…read more The first thing I'd mention is that it's in close proximity to downtown (like a 5 minute drive) but isn't actually downtown. I had never stayed at an Avid and would compare it to Hilton's Tru brand. Small, simply appointed rooms, great for business travelers. Which, as it turns out, is exactly what I am so it worked out for me. I got a king room and it was basically a bed, desk with chair, small fridge, a small area to hang a few clothing pieces, and the bathroom. There's no dresser to put your clothes in or anything (fine, but worth noting). They did have an iron and ironing board which I was happy to make use of during my stay. Like most hotels, they do have a nice snack shop which I made use of for snacks and light lunches. The service was lovely throughout my stay. They also have complimentary breakfast from 6:30-9:30am every morning. I took advantage of it one morning and enjoyed a bagel and schmear, scrambled eggs, and a greek yogurt. They also have a coffee station that's available and well equipped at any hour of the day or night. For solo traveling girlies--it felt like a safe set up. The elevators are in close proximity to the lobby/front desk. The hotel itself is on a busy, well frequented road, and the parking lot is wonderfully well lit. Get to it!

There is no swimming pool, but that's not a big issue. *** The only problem is the Vehicle noise from traffic, was very excessive up until about 11:30 to midnight. But that is no way a bad reflection upon the staff or the motel itself! I will definitely stay again, but I will Make sure I bring ear plugs.
