I am absolutely disgusted by what happened at Skate Station tonight. My six-year-old daughter was using a skate assist while skating on the roller rink. The rental period for the skate assist had come to an end, and an employee from skate rental came onto the rink to retrieve it. He came onto the rink while my daughter was at the inside wall and took the skate assist from her. I was on the complete opposite side of the rink watching her skate, nowhere near her. He then left her there clinging to the wall, screaming and crying because she could not skate by herself. She is SIX YEARS OLD. I understand that the rental period for the skate assist had ended. That is not the issue. The issue is that he removed the skate assist she was relying on while she was still on the rink and left her without a way to safely get around or get to me. If an employee needs to retrieve a rented skate assist from a child who is still on the rink, the absolute bare minimum should be making sure that child has a safe way to get off the rink before taking it away. Instead, he took the skate assist and walked away. When I confronted him, he tried to justify his actions rather than acknowledging what had happened or recognizing how unacceptable it was to leave a six-year-old stranded without her skate assist. I immediately spoke with the manager. Unfortunately, I was equally disappointed by how management handled the situation. The manager went over and spoke with the employee, who appeared to be his buddy, but I saw no meaningful accountability, no genuine apology, and no indication that management understood the seriousness of what had just happened. I am not upset that the skate assist rental ended. I am upset that an employee removed a skate assist from a six-year-old child and left her clinging to the wall, terrified, screaming and crying for help because she could not skate independently, while her mother was on the other side of the rink. There is a massive difference between retrieving rental equipment and safely transitioning a child away from that equipment. My daughter deserved to be treated with care and dignity. Instead, she was left crying against the wall while the employee walked away with the very thing she needed to skate. That should never happen to another child. read more

I wanna drive the karts, and I paid the super unlimited at 34 to ride the 2 hours that they allow you to do it for that super unlimited feature. Well, after 2 rides with the family they said that we need to wait 20 minutes to ride again.....they ripped me off. The same with the wall-climbing. My daughter went 3 times and when she tried for the fourth time they said that we need to wait 20 minutes, she was the only one there as you can see on the picture. They just robbed me. Don't go there, do anywhere else, too expensive for the few attractions and nothing is REALLY UNLIMITED. read more

This place could really be awesome, with the right staff and management it could be a hot spot for Gainesville. It would be awesome to see them get things up and working again. we have been multiple times over the last few months, every time the go karts and batting cages are not open..... the rink is huge, the flooring is odd for the rink, but everyone has gotten used to skating on it now. We bring our own rollerblades so not sure the quality of the ones to rent. Their pricing guides are confusing as their website does not line up to the different signs posted (and even those contradict each other) I think it would be better if management did a sweep and got all their signs and website to post the same information. Also if you pay for a wrist band to do all activities, well you spend forever waiting for an employee to come let you on (for instance our last visit it took 35 minutes for an employee to let me kid on the rock climbing wall, and the place was not even busy, felt like a waste of money for any extras other than just skating) read more

Had my teens bday party and gotta say it was pretty fun. The place was kept pretty clean, it wasn't grimy and run down like some reviews I read. In fact the paint looked fresh, carpet was ok, place was decorated decently. The skating rink was decent and the shoes- well they're rental shoes so not the best by a long shot - they have rollerblades if you want for extra $- still expect rental shoe quality. We were shafted out of our go cart rides (thanks rain) but were offered other activities to do- rock wall climbing- bouncy kid house thing- or jumping on trampolines with bungee cords. The kid house thing was a huge hit with the littles. The other stuff we didn't do - nobody wanted to. The video game area is pretty small but good i thought. The staff was very very nice but if you schedule a party here they seem kind of rush rush when your having you r cake and pizza stuff. They need more party rooms. That would prob help. They let us bring in a fruit tray which was awesome cuz some places don't. I would do it again. *edit * My partner actually complained to me about for 40 min straight about how crappy the food court area was- took like 30 minutes to wait for a couple of pretzels, pizza was sh*tty, if somebody had an order ahead of yours forget it. He said all that junky good should be already ready and not made to order in an airfryer, takes too long. He also complained about how rushy the place was in using the party room. He said the hostess needed to stop hassling us about getting stuff done-might as well said 'hurry tf up and finish your pizza & get out'. Said the whole organization was chaotic & "completely inefficient". I mean I didn't see it that way but I'm not all tightly wound up. At least not on that day. read more

This place is a real blast from the past - 90s edition. It has wild carpet and the tan vintage looking skates perfect for instagram-worthy pics. The skate rink itself is very large and has a wall/railing around most of the perimeter. The flooring on the rink has been kept up well, which is a major accomplishment. There is a good amount of space to sit for putting your skates on or spectating. The skates run a little big, and I recommend some fairly thick socks because the padding has worn down over the years. The music was classic pop and some oldies for the most part. They did let each person in my group request one song. We went with some classics - Let's get loud, I want it that way (Backstreet Boys) and Livin' La Vida Loca. The employees were all really nice, which was terrific. There was almost no one there, which was nice in some ways because it left lots of room for skating. The only down side was that it took at least 10 minutes for someone to come to the window when we arrived to let us pay and get our skate on. The cost was reasonable. About $11 for skating. I recommend bringing a water bottle. read more

I don't respect mini golf courses that don't respect themselves. Came by on a muggy Saturday afternoon to enjoy some mini golf and go-carts with the family. The mini golf is horribly designed. Not that I take mini golf seriously, but I've never skipped so many holes out of boredom. That foliage surrounding is also fairly unkempt and full of all sorts of bugs, including a giant, nasty banana spider. I guess if they're going for the "swamp" theme, they've done a good job. The only saving grace of my experience were the go-carts. Fun track and the guys running it were doing their job well. I can't say much about the roller rink or rock climbing since I didn't partake in either, but both looked all right. Ultimately, if you're planning on coming for the mini-golf, find someplace else. Also, be aware of your surroundings for any monstrous banana spider webs in your away. read more

I was in Gainesville and needed to entertain the children for a day... I found this while googling and a few times on their website said that there were bounce houses... and my kids love those. So we get there, and paid $36 for 2 kids to get the unlimited band... Mostly because they wanted to do the jungle gym and the bouncing... so they told me the unlimited would be the way to go. Well the kids had no interest in skating, so that aspect of the unlimited band wasn't used. And there weren't any bounce houses... there were the trampolines with bungee cords... so the kids were scared and didn't want to do that. Nobody was working the rock climbing (It's a legit rock climbing wall, nothing my 8 year olds would be able to do), and so I wound up spending 40 bucks (had to buy socks since we were traveling and they just wanted their crocs on) for them to play on basically a McDonalds playground. The arcade was so small that the kids, who love arcades, had no interest, which was good, because just getting in tapped our spending allowance for the day. The skating rink wasn't anything to make it way better than any other skating rink I've been to. It was basically a lot of glitzy lights and wall paintings to take your eyes away from the fact you just spent so much money for nothing. I mean the local skate place here, had 2 bounce houses and about the same arcade, a much bigger and nicer rink, and charged $5 for all day skates. I guess I've been spoiled. The girls working the counters were really nice, though. I hope they're making $30 per hour to justify the cost. read more

Ok so, let me preface when I say I am reviewing this after having bought an Unlimited Pass from Groupon. So I did not pay full price to play. I do not believe that an Unlimited Pass would be worth it at Full Price. The Go Karts are a bit dinky and dilapidated. We ran five races and out of five different Karts I only had one that made me feel like I was driving, not just being jerked around for 7mins. They're all pretty bad and need some refurbishment. However, the staff member who was running the track was pretty attentive to pile-ups and things, and didn't give us a hard time for our slight bumping of each other in the heat of the moment with wonky Karts. He seemed to understand that we were trying to get the most out of a tough situation. However, kids might not notice some of the driving issues with the Karts and would have a great time. We also played a round of the mini golf which I actually found some of the holes to be quite challenging and one or two to be pretty inventive. Didn't get to go skating, my other adult friends were not in the mood to bust their butts trying to remember how, but the rink was clean and seemed well-maintained and they played new music as well as the music I learned to love to skate to in the late 80s-90s. Didn't eat or grab a real drink but they do charge $0.85 for a cup with ice water, which is kinda lame cause we would've brought a bottle to fill at the fountains from the start if we'd realised that. I'd come back, but again, only on a discount. Would love to skate the next time though. read more

Great place for the kiddies to have fun. Nice rink, rock climbing, go karts, mini golf. Cool place. If they had lazer tag it would AWESOME! When I used to go skating at their previous location off of Main street, they had Lazer tag. The Lock-ins (7pm-7am skating) were the shiznit! Good times.The one thing I don't like is how there are no sinks in the bathrooms. The sinks are out in the open area where people sit and eat etc. Kind of awkward. Skating price was reasonable for a long session (Sunday 12-6 for $9 includes skates, &4 extra for inline). Place has a decent variety of arcade games, big rink, and was reasonably clean. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!. Took my family there that was visiting from out of town specifically to play mini golf. Paid admission for 7 people and started playing the 18 hole course at 4PM. It got dark and we were at the 11th hole and no lights had been turned on so I called them 2 times and asked them to turn on some lights out at the mini golf range. The second time I was told all the lights were on that work and the rest didn't work. We finally ended up just quiting because my daughter in law almost fell off a bridge and my 79 year old mom wanted to leave because she couldn't see where she was walking and was afraid of falling. The concept for several attractions under one roof is sound, but this franchise needs some work on it's product. Attractions include skating arena, climbing wall, arcade, putt-putt golf, batting cages, and go-carts. Food and drink are available. The skating area is large, 4-wheel skates are included in the admission, but in-line skates are $4 more. You may use personal skates at no charge. Intermittent skating games are played. The climbing wall is supervised, but you need to ask at the counter if an employee is not at the wall. The attraction price includes one ticket for the climb and is not unlimited as the skating. Pricey for the value given The arcade is a bit limited, but popular. Have large bills for the token machine to take advantage of pricing. The staff had only &5s & $1s when we were there Forget the putt-putt golf. The attraction is run-down, seedy, and should be an embarrassment the management. We didn't use the batting cages. They appeared to be in good shape. The go-cart attraction is $6 extra for two hours. It was well run, good equipment, and worth the extra charge. The food sucks, small portions, and expensive. Medium soda is $3 and a refill is $2. 20 oz vending machine drinks are $2.50. The staff, for the most, were cheerful and helpful. They were the best part of the experience. Skate Station is OK for roller or in-line skating and go-carting. Everything else is a poor value for the asking price. read more

Went to Skate Station this evening for a fundraiser for my childs school. My kids had a pretty good time, but the place was so dirty and nasty!!! The floors were filthy and the carpet was all stained. When my son fell skating, I would have to wipe all of the trash off of his bottom and back. The bathrooms, sinks, the big toy....all nasty. They totally need a cleaning crew to come in and take care of that place on a regualr basis. For goodness sakes our kids are playing in that nasty environment. As I said, the kids had a pretty good time because they don't notice things like that, but it was hard for me to enjoy it when it was just so dirty everywhere that I looked. Yuck!! read more

My family loves Skate Station! The nieces and nephews love to have their birthday parties here and never want to leave. The prices are extremely reasonable and they always have a special or coupon available. They really like the Bounce Houses and Go-Karts. The employees are all very nice and helpful. The worst time ever there website shows things that is not there they only have 15 arcades the golf course was by far the worst very very few lights over grown bushes and trees no water in the streams . Then dont try and get any training skate over a toddlers size1 then when you get in and find out all of this they refuse to refund you your money so once you pay they unlock the door and thats it over with we hates this place I had a 8 year old son 12 year old daughter and a 14 year old daughter and they had the worst time ever we was there a whole 30minutes and begged and pleaded for a refund and they refused because they know once you pay and get inside you will want to leave and not stay inside so they keep your money and you leave unhappy this place needs new owners and management read more

Skate Station Funworks is a great place to go to spend time with your family and enjoy yourself, if you go on the right day. On the right day staff will be friendly, most of the games will work properly, the golf course won't be nasty and all the Go-karts won't be spitting out smoke from behind. On those days I don't mind spending so much. But if you are one of the unfortunate ones and come on an off day, I pity you. Though your kids will have the same amount of fun every time, you as an adult won't be so lucky. For this place to become better something with the staff will have to change. If they want customers to enjoy themselves while they are at Skate Station, then they have to make they're staff happy to be working. One of the staff working told me they're paid minimum wage, with no chance of bonus or raises. Once she told me this it started to make sense, there is no motive for them to do anything more than the minimum. No wonder they aren't happy. A happy staff will lead to good reviews from me. read more
