A good place to get electronics supplies that you wouldn't be able to find elsewhere. Was anyone else sad when RadioShack closed their doors besides me? I mean we live on a rock where we have a hard time getting things we need like then and there. Our keypad for our garage door has a nine volt battery inside and the connector broke so they association asked me if I could fix it. First thing I did was turn to Yelp as I needed the party like today and didn't want to wait for something to be shipped in. I found I C Supply and I called them and asked if they carry this part to which the salesperson said they do and they have it in stock. I was like awesome and came down to grab the part. Looking around it reminds me of RadioShack but without the toys just parts and tools. They have things for computers, cables and accessories to run cable, resistors, etc. I love this place as I can get my parts locally. They are located down Sand Island Road right access the street from Sand Island Center aka food row ( L&L, Lunch Box, Ron's Performance, etc) right next to First Hawaiian Bank in a long building. read more

I use to go there in the 80's and 90's when they where at other locations. Its good to see its still there on Sand Island access Road. I go there to find hard to find electrical parts. Although a little unorganized, if you look good, you'll always find it. Since the closure of Radio shack, IC Supply appears to be one of the few places in town for your electrical needs. Not sure who else is out there, but this is one of the only places still around to get electronics parts, etc. When I come here I always see things that are useful even though I didn't come in for it, so I try to buy it to help support this awesome local business. I was working today at the Oahu Transist Services "The Bus" today, and while I was trying to solder something from an electronic pc board, I realized I didn't have my desoldering pump. Don't you just hate it when you're trying to do something, and it only takes you longer to do the task, especially if you don't have the proper tools to take care of the task? Well unfortunately for me I did not have all my tools, & gear with me, as my company vehicle is in the shop, so upon realizing I did not have the proper tools to fix this machine, I headed on down the road to IC Supply. This was an all time 1st for me at this new location..........I think I mentioned in a earlier review that they were moving from their airport site on Ualena Street to another location. Well, IC Supply has now landed on Sand Island Access Road........just next door to the First Hawaiian Bank. It was very convenient for me to get here today, as the place where I was working was just a hop, skip, & jump away! Went into the new store...........and saw the same two dudes still working here (thank goodness!). Both of them are very helpful, knowledgeable, & friendly. These guys are very helpful and knowledgeable. Call them on the telephone and ask them if they have what you are looking for, they probably do. Needed Cat6 cable for my renovation....the electrician only had Cat 5...so I called IC Supply and talked with Hiram. He was really helpful and was able to get me the Cat 6 cable...he also explained the difference between the two graded of cable... I just drove over there and picked it up. That store is really cool....all kinds of electronic parts and cool flashlights...I ended up getting an LED flashlight that can swivel and has a magnet for my friend...love places that that! read more

This place is dusty, somewhat disorganized, and more akin to a museum of old high tech glory than a go-to electronics boutique store. The two guys there do know their stuff. I'm told it used to be quite the busy endeavor pre-pandemic, but times are hard and they look like they're barely scraping by. In need of components for a few projects I'm working on with my BFF, I went looking for an electronics store and found only a couple on the whole island. Hawaii has a pretty huge ham radio community, and at least a handful of hacker/makerspaces have popped up over the years, so there's definitely a market for this kind of place. I didn't know what to expect, but I could see in the pictures on Yelp a shelf of Fluke products, as well as what looked like a big shelf of tiny component drawers. When we walked in, the first thing I saw was a selection of surgical forceps, so I knew right away we were going to find things we needed. Very nice selection of components and ancillary supplies, and actually great prices for everything, too! I had just looked at a few things on Amazon but couldn't wait for a few days to receive the parts, so I had fresh memories of the asking price and the prices here are at least as good. There are PLENTY of components of all kinds, including a ton of stuff you definitely don't think a store like this would have in stock on site. Protip: If you're looking for something specific, ask the guy if they've got the part number in stock, since they have a back room area with loads of shelves of components. The dudes working here are friendly and knowledgeable. I asked for some low-capacity PROMs and holy smokes, the guy came back with a collection of Intel D2716s from 1977! It was with the most intensely-focused restraint in the universe that I only bought six of them. I mean I really didn't want to seem too weird. One thing I wish they had: This island has nowhere to buy Arduino-compatible modules or other kinds of electronics modules that are all the rage these days. It would be awesome if they stocked some of the basic sensor modules, a handful of ESP8266 wifi modules, displays, inputs, and the actual Arduino or similar microcontroller boards. I am not afraid of building my own circuits in a pinch, but I'm a pretty weird dude. This place beat my expectations, hands down! read more

For those times when you need an electronic part that isn't sold at Best Buy or Radio Shack, IC Supply is the place to check out! Unlike those 2 places, there are parts galore to browse and probably a lot of really obscure parts you never knew existed and could be picked up. The nice thing about the new location in Sand Island is that there is much more parking & the shop is located right off of the main road. It's also a little more spacious compared to their old location by the airport, so it's easy to walk through and find what you're looking for without feeling like it's cramped. The 2 guys that worked at the airport location are here too and are very knowledgeable and will help answer all kinds of questions or help you find what you are looking for if it's in the store. If not, they can usually refer you to another place on the island that carries the part or will let you know what to look for online. Stores such as IC Supply & its ilk are a very rare and dying breed even in this day and age unfortunately but still a good place to stop by to see if they have what you're looking for. Sometimes you just want someone that knows what you need or can give you advice as well as want to see what you're buying for yourself. Also, if you're in a pinch & need something right away and can't wait for it to ship this is the kind of place you'd go to pick up the part. Some items (tools, networking supply) are generally equal to or less than 'mail order + shipping'. Selection is remarkable. Staff is excellent. This IS the BEST electronics store here. When I say electronics, I don't mean mp3 players and other stuff. I mean components - real components. 22uF capacitors - YES, 1N4001 diodes - YES, LM7812 voltage regulators - YES, film capacitors -YES. These guys know what they are doing and they have been doing it for a long time. I have been frequenting them for over 17 years. They guys are great! Like going through your grandfather's dusty garage. They have LOTS of stuff, but not everything. I doubt you'd be able to complete any full project start to finish by shopping there. Need a toggle? Okay, they have 8 different kinds, but neither the size nor type (on/on/on) that I needed. They have the same product placed in multiple places around the store (I saw those "helping hands" in about 5 different places) and some of the same things for different prices. In their defense, I can't imagine the nightmare trying to have stock of every capacitor, resistor, transistor, potentiometer, relay, etc., as well as tools and peripherals for all fields of electronics. Instead, they have a hodge-podge selection that probably disappoints everyone a little bit equally. I asked the guy at the counter if they had any books on electronics. He barely looked up from whatever he was doing and without hesitation said, "No. Look on Amazon or online." - I mean, come on - WHY would you IMMEDIATELY direct the customer to the very thing that's going to put you out of business within a few years? Most stores will at least offer to order it for you. I guess times are changing. Maybe they realize that when they say this, the customer knows that they themselves can just order it and it'd be faster and save them a trip downtown. Selection really did leave a LOT to be desired. The only multimeter I saw was $200. I only saw cheap soldering stations. I was hoping for a nice soldering station and a cheap multimeter lol. This store - given that it's pretty much the only game in town - has an enormous opportunity to be phenomenal and actually be MORE attractive than ordering online. Instead, they appear to be resting on their laurels and former reputation, not caring to organize, clean, stock (LOTS of empty shelves/bins), or provide more than minimum customer service. My thought while leaving the place this morning was "Hmm. Maybe they're a front for something..." I doubt it, but it did cross my mind. I wasted a trip through traffic to get there. I left empty-handed. I was hoping to find some good project stuff to breadboard music gear. They had a small selection of breadboarding stuff, so good on them for that. read more

Yes it is not your typical Radio Shack for all consumers, it is an honest and much needed supply store since the retail giant closed in Hawaii. I'm glad these guys are still around. I had to modify a computer power button on a Dell computer after replacing the motherboard with an after market one. They didn't have the part I needed on the shelf but after explaining to the employee what I needed, he went into the back to his misc stock and yanked out the part I needed from an old computer. I was looking for a certain kind of small female wire connector, so I went to stereo shops, radio shack, and a few other electronic stores and everyone said that they didn't carry anything that small or they hadn't seen that before-radio shack. I get to IC Supply and the braddah looks at my broken/bent connector for 3 seconds and says ill be right back. Comes out from the back with a box and hands me EXACTLY what I was looking for. Only place in town I know of to get the small electronics parts (fuses, fuse holders, cable, etc.) you need for your special projects. Great location on Sand Island makes it even better! While they don't have everything, they have enough to get you through. I buy stuff I don't really need to buy from them from time to time just to give them business just because we need to keep places like this open or we won't have the smaller businesses around with the experience in our time of need. They are really helpful. I didn't know much about Cat 5 cables and testers, but they took about10 minutes to explain how it works and the differences between the types of plugs, tools, and testers.
