This ibis hotel is clean, modern, well maintained. It is located towards the east side of barcelona, but not too far from the center part. There's a metro station one block away, and another one for a different line about 6 blocks away. You can walk to the waterfront/beach in less than 15 minutes. It's a mainly quiet area, there are some cafes around, but it's mostly residential/commercial. A few blocks away will be more busy.
The lobby has a very open floor plan. There's sitting areas, a game area, computer area. You need a room key to enter the building, regardless of the time, and also to go up the elevators. There's a rooftop pool that isn't heated. The hallways are like a little maze. The room itself is not bad, i had a double bed, with a tv, clothing hanging area, desk, bathroom. There's a variety of channels for tv, but only 4 are in English, and they're news channels. The bed was comfortable, the pillows not too soft.
There is a free breakfast each morning. It's more continental in nature...there's pastries like croissants, toast, bread, yogurt, cheese, ham, juices, and coffee. It's good to have it here since if you go to a cafe, they will have the exact same stuff. There was only one place that had the American type breakfast, but it wasn't worth a try. Pancakes or waffles don't exist. There are places that have crepes, but it's seen as a dessert. The bread and pastries were fresh.
For someone on a budget that doesn't mind walking or taking the subway to the tourist areas, this hotel is great. read more
