I couldn't get into the hotel I typically stay at during Mobile World Congress, so based on location, stayed at the Hotel Regina. At the top of La Ramba (just off of Placa Catalunya), the facade of Hotel Regina belies the fact that this hotel is just under 100 years old...you'd NEVER guess that when walking in!
The rooms are very nicely laid out - spartan (typical EMEA room), and don't expect ANY English channel other than BBC....but it had all the basic, including free WIFI.
Downside - 100 years old. You don't need other channels on your TV - want porn? About 10 pm, you've got 15 channels - rooms x01-x15, all simultaneous. Want entertainment? Same channels. Want Jerry Springer? Same channels. In other words, if you're a light sleeper, you're in trouble.
Breakfast is included (rare in Barcelona!). Typical EMEA food, though (runny scrambled eggs, fat fat fat bacon, good coffee, GREAT oj).
The only other ding (and this was a "happened to be there when") is that someone, somewhere, decided that 1am is the PERFECT time to start jack-hammering the road outside the hotel. (?)
All in all, a GREAT location. Not so great on sound proofing. read more
