Thai Ice Tea Ice Cream with Lychee and cornflakes mixed in and a condensed milk drizzle; LOVED IT!
    Marilen R.

Even though the novelty of rolled ice cream has faded and you can now find it in malls across NJ, I had to give it a try. I also didn't want my first time to be with a suburban copycat, so I made it a point to save myself for ICE. Boy, it was worth the wait! I went with the Thai Ice Tea Ice Cream and had lychee and cornflakes mixed into it, with a condensed milk drizzle. It was so dreamy and delicious. The ice cream itself is not as rich and thick as typical ice cream, but instead airy and light. The lychee was a surprisedly lovely addition and the cornflakes gave it a nice crunch. Highly recommend this combination. I finished the whole damn cup! Service is friendly and since I visited on a warm February afternoon, there was no line. Will return without a doubt.

Cute place and concept. I will say it was really fun to watch the ice cream being made /shaved and that the flavor I tried was good (thai ice tea w lychee)... Just very sweet (& I was told this was one of the less sweet items)... The line can be long and menu is hard to read so grab a laminated menu from the front so you can order when you get to the register. Sadly, it is hard to sample the flavors beforehand since it has to be rolled first so you just have to see what your gut says and choose. And plan to take take your icecream to go as sitting and waiting space is very limited, and the street is pretty busy with people as well. I had to walk a couple blocks til I could really eat mine due to how crowded the area was the night I went.

Vanilla ice cream, with strawberries, chocolate sauce and chocolate Pocky

Fun and trendy but super overpriced and very rich in flavor! The trend of ice cream rolls is sweeping the nation and I had to dive in too. I found this place while walking around The Village so I stopped in. It's quite a process! -Choose an ice cream flavor -Choose a fruit flavor -Choose a sauce -Choose a topping I went simple with vanilla ice cream, fresh strawberries, chocolate sauce and topped with Pocky. It's simply mesmerizing watching them make the rolls, but it's super fun, too! You can expect to spend $6-10 depending what you get, which for ice cream, is a little high. But it is NYC so whatever. The ice cream was VERY rich. I couldn't finish the whole thing, so definitely share and you'll get your monies worth.

Was looking for dessert in the neighborhood and found this place on Yelp. This location is small with a couple of tables and chairs if you want to linger around to eat your dessert. The service was standard, and they got the job done. I went for the strawberry cheese-ce cake ($7) and didn't like it as much as I thought I would have. The toppings didn't taste fresh and the strawberry sauce was a little too much for me. I spent the entire time eating around the toppings and just eating the strawberry ice cream. Sadly half of the ice cream went untouched before I called it quits. I should have customized my own instead of going for the preset ones on the menu; so that was my mistake. Overall my experience was okay but I feel like there are other places with a similar concept that taste better.

We got the strawberry shortcake and Hong Kong milk tea. My favorite was the strawberry shortcake because I just love strawberries and it was sweet and creamy!

It's great to have a rolled ice cream option so close to NYU. I came here a while ago and I think it was because they were doing a promotion or fundraiser or something but there was a huge line. It was my first time having rled ice cream and the concept is pretty neat. I've been to a couple other places since and they're all pretty similar - nothing too out of the ordinary other than the way the ice cream is presented. I mean I guess I kind of get it...it's fun to watch the ice cream being made but other than that I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go to a rolled ice cream place if there was just regular ice cream nearby.

    Very cool!!

Thai me up! These new Thai ice cream places are popping up all over Manhattan, I CE NY is the latest iced dessert to roll into the city. Ice cream anything has me buzzin', I'd like to try something that's slowly introduced everywhere. But this isn't a typical churned ice cream that you spoon into a cone. Think of Stone Cold Ice cream. You choose a mix in and then they chop it, swirl it and then scrape it. Scrape it?!? Yep, they have a special griddle that freezes the ice cream and then they use these, it looks like putty knives, they scrape the finished product into a roll. Take enough rolls and fill up a cup. Throw a couple of toppings and sauces on top and then you have a frozen Thai treat. That NYC is lining up for, (like me) The four of us pushed away some sexy Italian gelato after dinner and decided for some Thai funkiness. We never had it before and I've been watching the hype, I'm game for something fun and new. The line wasn't too bad. The space itself is very small, there are a few tables to the right that management doesn't clean too often. We ordered two flavors, chocolate & Cookie Spree The Chocorilla is what's made first. It's Chocolate Ice Cream, Banana, Oreo & Pocky cookies and Nutella Sauce. What came thru was the banana. I was expecting something exotic, Valrhona French Chocolate? Something. Nah. This is hodge podge of ice cream thats been scraped into a roll and dropped into a bowl. If your looking for creamy, dreamy ice cream? This isn't it. Its frozen rolls with mix ins thats been chopped and flattened. The end result is, it was fun experience to see but if your craving "ice cream", this is a different spin on the treat we all know and love. My nieces have the I CE NY videos on instagram, it was fun to watch them make the product but I don't think I'll make another trip to Thai ice cream. S EE YA I CE

It was a hot day. Came here to get some cool dessert. The strawberry flavour was my favourite. So I order it and watch them making the rolls. It was satisfying. Like to watch them making the rolls. The place is small and need more cleaning. The ice cream taste very good. Taste like it has some chewy parts in it

ICENY: The rolled ice cream place that started it all for me. My husband and I first stumbled upon heaven's gate by chance when we were in Atlanta. Since then, no matter where we are, we check to see if there are rolled ice cream places in the area in hopes that it will be as good as ICENY. Currently we have tried over 8 different places in 3 different states, and have only found one that was close in terms of quality. Even so, the other place we found is double the price and not nearly as customizable. I could care less about the aesthetic, that you get to watch it be made, or the fact that it comes in cute little rolls. It is about the flavor. It is a lot less milky. I am slightly lactose intolerant and this ice cream does not upset my stomach as much as traditional ice cream. I believe there is a lot less dairy. On top of not sending me running to the rest room, the flavor is so rich. Every flavor I've gotten has tasted exactly like its name. I have eaten 3 servings in one sitting because I genuinely never want to leave. It tastes SO good. I also love to experiment with making my own and very rarely have made one I did not like. In our week in NY I made sure no matter what subway we had to take or where in the city we were, that I got to end my day with ICENY. Both the Atlanta and NY locations were consistent in terms of quality. I just found out there is one in Orlando so I will he heading up very shortly because I crave this ice cream so much it is scary.

After being disappointed from 10Below Ice cream, I still wanted to try other Thai Ice cream places. I found this place on YELP and I'm glad I did. Once we enter the store, one of the staff held the door for us and greeted us. Inside the store it is not really big, there is around four small tables for seating. For the ice cream you can choose form the menu of what they recommend or you can customize the ice cream base, the mixer, the toppings and the sauce. The medium is $4.99+Taxes with 1 mixer/1 topping and the large $5.99+Taxes with 2 mixer/2 topping and for each additional mixer or toppings it's $.50+taxes. My Thai ice tea flavor ice cream did not disappoint me. I would definitely come back !

Dug up an old picture, so here is a long overdue review... Came here on Christmas Eve with a friend (disclaimer: I cannot guarantee they will be open on Christmas Eve this year, but they were in the past) after walking to a bar and finding that they were closed, a sad moment. I CE NY was delicious, and it is fun to watch them roll your ice cream in front of you! Choose from their premade combinations or create your own from the flavors, mix-ins, and toppings on the menu. I think the rolled ice cream trend was a bit overhyped, but I CE NY was one of the few to get it right!

After visiting Snowdays in Flushing , I was eager to try this very popular spot on MacDougal Street. It took me a few months to get there and after a spicy bowl of Ramen, shaved cream seemed like a perfect choice. There is a definite art to working and then rolling the frozen cream. The end product is very eye catching. But the taste has a lot to be desired and I much prefer the custard like approach of Snowdays. My vanilla with coconut flakes turned rolls had no taste and I felt like there was not enough topping or drizzle to accent the tasteless product. And it's not cheap... At 6.43 plus tax I expected more pizzazz. I was happy to finally get there to try it and the girls did a nice job but I wouldn't return or recommend it to anyone.

I've never tried a Japanese cheesecake before and was extremely excited to be able to pick up some treats for my coworkers as well as my partner's birthday cake from Keki. Ordering is fairly straightforward and done with a simple machine outfront. Once your order is ready one of the staff members hands it to you through a window; there is no inside area accessible to customers but our food came quickly and we took it back to the office. The cheesecake was fantastic. I read a bit about the background of the shop online and how the owner really cares about using high-quality ingredients, specifically dairy. It was justas described, light and bouncy. I enjoyed how it was not overly sweet and found that it was all too easy to devour the entire cake over the course of two days. Despite it not having much weight to it, it traveled surprisingly well as I took it home on my three train commute! Similar to what others have said, the real highlight of the shop, in my opinion, are their cream puffs. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the outer layer was thin yet had a nice little crunch to it. We tried the classic milk, cookies & cream pistachio and ube flavors. Our favorite was the pistachio by far, which had such a unique yet decadent flavor and our second favorite was the milk cream puff. There's not much else I can say other than you really have to go here and try the desserts yourself. If you're a fan of Japanese desserts that are rich yet not too sweet, you'll be a fan of Keki.

And I commonly see the upstairs for private events like baby showers, bridal showers, or birthday parties on social media. After dinner with my friends, I was looking for dessert and I was glad to see this location closes relatively late on a weekday night at 11 pm. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! We ordered potted rose milk tea to share, Dubai affogato and Brown Sugar Boba Mille Crêpes Cake. We came on a Friday around 4pm. Originally I wanted to try the strawberry matchamisu, however, was told that it sold out. What a bummer. The rose milk tea came with a themed pot and cups which is really cute. The rose fragrant smelled so good and the milk tea also tasted good and has a hint of rose taste. The cake was good, the boba was well cooked, chewy and flavorful! This time there was an unpleasant experience. At first when the Dubai affogato was served, we did not realize that the amount of the coffee was little until we saw another customer's dish that the volume of their coffee looked significantly more than ours. My friend brought it to the waitress attention but the waitress brushed it off and did not acknowledge our concern. When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern. We thought that maybe using standardized containers for the coffee would avoid this problem. Other than that, the food and drinks were good.
