Why 4 stars? They had Monster Energy on hand, the vending machines are managed by a truly hardworking blind employee (seriously, that's impressive), and if I had to imagine where I'd bunker down during a hurricane--well, this newly revamped rest area on I-10 westbound in Florida might just pop into my head. (Kidding! Please don't actually do that.) I pulled off for a quick break and was pleasantly surprised by how clean and modern everything looked. The bathrooms were tidy, the snack selection was solid, and grabbing that Monster was almost too easy. The fact that the vending machines are run by someone who's blind really stood out to me. It's not something you see every day, and it honestly put a smile on my face to see them running such a smooth operation. In the grand scheme of things, it's still a rest area, not a five-star resort. But it offered exactly what I needed at that moment--clean facilities, a decent energy boost, and a sense that someone actually cared about keeping the place welcoming. If you're rolling along I-10 and need to stop, this one's definitely worth a few minutes of your time. read more

FDOT operates two rest areas here and since I know Yelp will merge them, I won't bother adding the east bound as that's the one I patronized today. On I-10, west of I-75 by a bit, this was a great stop. They do have a sign that indicates "three hour parking" so you can't overnight here. There is the "picnic area loop" around the back where you can find a nice shady spot for a nap and be away from the traffic noises. Plenty of space! The restrooms are clean and there is an attendant here so I was not at all concerned about security. Just remember to slow down as you're entering the parking area. It seems someone has been preoccupied doing something besides what their job requires on this day, yes it's the travel season but geez these restroom weren't so pleasing. Sometimes it feels like you just can't hold on - be strong and keep driving during your holiday travel you'll be glad you did and the staff here will have a chance, a small chance to keep up with the cleaning under such extraordinary conditions. Decent rest area along I-10. Compare to busy bee, they have good enough facilities. They are 40 minutes away from Tallahassee as a result very less people visit. Most people will hold it until Tallahassee. The rest area has vending machine for munchies. Many selection. I like about this rest area for clear sign where men and women restroom is. Very good location and secure locations for rest area because they have tender center. read more

This is a really nice rest area just off I-10 heading west. Very easy to her off and back on the interstate. They have clean bathrooms and the entire area is well-maintained. There's a large area to walk your dog/dogs, but they are requires to be on a leash. Also, please be considerate and make sure to clean up after your pet. They have quite a few vending machines with a lot of good choices. There are drink machines, snack machines, a hot coffee machine, and even an ice cream machine. In the drink machines you'll find the usual soda and water, but you'll also find various other drinks such as juices, bottled SBUX coffee, and even Arizona teas. If you're looking to have a picnic, there are plenty of covered picnic tables that are clean and well-kept. It's nice to have the shade from the hot Florida sun. I do feel safe here even at night because, like most all rest areas in Florida, they do have armed security who patrols the area. If you find yourself driving at night and are really tired, this is a good place to pull over and get a couple of hours of sleep while feeling safe. read more

Average rest area on westbound Interstate 10 in Madison County, Florida. While it appears clean on the outside, the restrooms require work. Four stalls, three urinals, five sinks, and three hand dryers on the wall. One sink off to the side that sprays water all over when you are attempting to wash your hands. Rest area worker wearing headphones and playing on his cell phone in the control booth. I stood behind the booth for several minutes watching him. Photos attached. Vending machines offer plenty of drinks, snacks as well as coffee. Plenty of parking and picnic tables. Nice stop for family. Restrooms were a little dated but clean and spacious. Have diaper changing stations. Security guard on site. Clean and working vending machine area. Well maintained grass area that kids can run off some energy. Dog walk. read more

After watching the fellow in security booth sleep for awhile. Assumed he must be security, but maybe he's the cleaning guy. Ladies' restrooms were closed for cleaning, while he slept. Came back in after 40 minutes or so. The other side of womens' closed for cleaning, guy gone from security booth. Cleaning?? What cleaning. The restrooms stink of urine & no cleaning odors evident. Toilets have stains in bottom, no recent cleaning to be sure. Obviously, this is usual for staff, at least this fellow. Anyone can see him and that he is sleeping. To be paid for sleeping?? Water is not potable: DO NOT DRINK ... The one they do have is parking & the outside maintenance is good. The same can not be said for the cleanliness of the facility. read more

Typical rest stop. Wasn't busy at all. Like the fact that in the car parking area it had parking spaces to the left of the median. That was cool. The men's bathrooms were average. Did have good room to play or sit at the picnic areas. Multiple picnic bench areas. Lots of shade as well in spots too. read more

This is a really good rest area...It's clean, well-maintained and it has a security guard.... There are plenty of vending machines here if you're in need of a snack... The restrooms are kept very clean and the rest of the area is clean as well... You can walk your dogs here, but they have to be on a leash... This is a good place to relax for a while before getting back on the interstate. read more

Gnats!!! Gnats!!! So many gnats it was ridiculous. Flying in my nose, my ears, everywhere!! I think everyone thought I was a bit autistic slapping myself silly and still didn't help. The poor doggies trying to use the bathroom had gnats trying to crawl in their but and started skidding around pulling themselves with their front paws then ran for the car. Please spray for gnats! Wear a bug zapper if you stop here. Don't let the dogs out. read more
