Pros: Probably the…read morecleanest hostel I've ever been to, they were cleaning details like railings etc daily The rooms are cleaned often with fresh towels daily The beds are pretty comfortable The people who stayed were all courteous and respectful . I felt ok leaving my big suitcase in the room unlocked, and locked my smaller items in the cubbies. One time I left the key in the lock all Day and it was fine Lively bar, but not hostel prices. Cons: Dorms are very small and 6 to a room, i touched the girl next to me in the next bed with my foot as we didn't have a bunk and the two beds were so close The rooms have windows that do not open so it gets pretty stuffy, everyone was snoring Lockers are not free for large items, and it's not near the rooms. there is no free storage after check out or before check in. No activities or tours available Vending machine water was almost 4 euro. Overall an ok value for the money (43 Euro for a dorm bed in May) but only bc there is not much cheap in the city. I enjoyed my stay but it's a pricey city and the hostel follows suit.

Amazing location, room, breakfast, and M Club…read more We started our recent tour of Christmas Markets in Brussels and were pleasantly surprised at how wonderful and convenient this hotel was. Our room was large by European standards, quite comfortable, and well equipped. And the service at the front desk, the restaurant, and the M Club was quite good. As Titanium guests, the very tasty breakfast was complimentary and the M Club a lovely refuge w/coffee, beverages, and snacks available 24/7 and in the evening alcohol and light bites including fresh waffles (note that the hotel resolved the issue of a previous reviewer and you now need the correct key card access). Old Town is a delightful pedestrian friendly village within Brussels with many wonderful sights, restaurants, shops that we loved to explore...not to mention the Grand Place and Christmas markets. And the Brussels North train station was a short walk away from which we took a very pleasant train ride to Bruges (I heartily recommend both the train and the town). There were always taxis right outside the hotel - one day we visited the Atomium/World's Fair area and on departure we took one to the TGV at Brussels Midi (since we had luggage). All in all we were quite thrilled with our stay at the Marriott Grand Place.

There is a bar in the hotel lobby but if you walk right out the doors there are plenty of places to eat and drink. It's really close to the hop on hop off bus location and the grand place. The only reason it isn't five stars is because we checked in and were given a room on the sixth floor. The elevator only goes to the fifth floor so we had to get off on the fifth floor and walk up to the sixth floor every time. After walking around all day and carrying our suitcases around - this was not fun to hear or do. The room had basic accommodations. It wasn't anything special but it worked for us. Another pro is that it is really close to the train station. You can walk there in less than five minutes.

The gentleman who served us breakfast, both mornings we were there, did a great job finding out what we did and did not want and making adjustments our second morning. Just note that you must book and pay for breakfast the day before. The cost of 15 euros was very reasonable given the size and variety of the breakfast food offered. On our day of departure, we asked them to book us a taxi to Brunelles-Midi (Brussels-Zuid) train station. After they called for a taxi, we all found out that there was a transit worker strike that also impacted taxis in the city; yikes! The owner said she would take us to the station for 15 euros, which is about what a taxi would have cost. This saved our day, and we are very grateful! Our only suggestion would be to have somewhat better lighting in the rooms.

The hotel wasn't luxurious, but the room was a decent size -- much better than XO Hotel Inner in Amsterdam. However, like nearly every hotel in Europe, the room was too warm, and we had to keep the windows open at all times to get any relief. No major complaints, aside from the area being quite noisy, and one night, there were people outside blasting their music late into the night. No noise from other rooms, though. The hotel had a small bar and "restaurant" that sold a few basic low quality items, such as pizza -- a lifesaver if you were starving and not picky, but not a place for a meal. They did have a decent breakfast buffet though, although it did cost something like €15. Not cheap, but at least the food was pretty good quality (unlike the awful breakfast at XO Hotel Inner!). There weren't laundry facilities in the hotel, but they were close to a laundromat, which we very much needed in the middle of a three week trip. Overall, a decent hotel for a good price. TL;DR Version: Excellent hotel; exceptional service and amenities. Don't stay anywhere else in…read moreBrussels. Oh, Hotel Amigo, my darling jewel of Brussels. How I will miss you so. Staying at this hotel was one of the best choices I made for my vacation to Brussels Location: Can't be beat. Right in city center of Brussels, next to all of the popular attractions. 90% of everything we saw was within a 20 minute walk of the hotel. Reception My arrival to Hotel Amigo was greeted with the warming charm of the bell hop and reception. It was like they had been waiting for me since the foundation of the hotel and now all their hopes of my arrival had come to fruition. Finally, they had the privilege of attending to my every need; which they certainly would. Room: The rooms are excellent, designed in that sleek, modern contemporary style you expect from Belgium. It's like if Batman wasn't so angry and color monotone. The tech in the room (TV, Phone) were all top notch. Any hotel that allows me to watch Food Network Marathons in English, while munching on a liege waffle in bed is OK in my book. Bathroom: The bathrooms were beautifully done and had one of those high pressure showers that massage you with a intermittent fire hose strength spray if you chose. If I had to pick one gripe with this hotel, it's the shower current/door. They do one of those European style half doors, but it doesn't quite work with such a strong shower head, resulting in quite a bit of water getting outside of the shower. Service: There is nothing negative I could say about the service here. It goes beyond the standard. The personnel in this hotel are so friendly, you'd think they were on drugs (or Canadian). Every request is met with a rapid, high priority response. If something cannot be resolved, they will ensure you have at least the best secondary option at your disposal. The cleaning folks come around all the time. You step out to get a waffle (I ate a lot of waffles), and BOOM, that bed is remade and those clothes are folded when you come back. I swear the reception must be watching you like undercover cops speaking into earpieces to maid service as you leave the hotel; "Big Eagle has just left the nest, go go!". I don't know what else to say. This hotel was great. I'll be staying here every time I'm in Brussels. Oh, and the very best thing? Right across the street from the hotel ....the BEST WAFFLE SPOT EVER!!!!!!!!!
