While this hotel isn't as close to all the tourist attractions, we loved that we didn't have to worry about restaurant tourist traps nearby. It was also centrally located near a number of bus stops that made it super easy to access the rest of paris. Overall we enjoyed our stay here. Our only complaint was the room got pretty warm at night despite it being a mid fall temperature outside. read more

I booked this place using my Chase Travel Portal. The place is farther out from major attractions, there is a Metro station close by, Republique. I did not mind the walk, as I wanted to be able to immerse myself in my very brief 48 hour Paris itinerary. The room was small, but we are in the city so to me typical average size for Europe. King bed in the room was comfortable and made for a good nights rest after walking around the city for the day. Breakfast was good and had the pastries as that pretty much caught my eye first. Staff was kind and helpful with questions. As far as transportation to airport, you can take the Metro to CDG or have them book you a taxi. read more

Terrible hotel with dirty conditions and unapologetic staff. The room at this hotel had so many issues and raised serious health concerns. The sink would not drain in the room and when I contacted the front desk, her only response was "he should have fixed that" and offered no solution for a fix. The bathroom was even worse, the shower head was coming undone from the ceiling and sprayed water everywhich way and onto the floor. The shower itself, has no curtain and allows water to spray out all over the floor, creating a mess anytime you shower. Also in the corners of the shower, what appeared to be mold from lack of cleaning was present and very disgusting. The walls inside the room were not much better, having dirt and dust on some parts of them, also looking as if they hadn't been cleaned in a while. I also suspected dry blood on the backboard of the bed, as a stain was present that hadn't been cleaned. The comforter also had stains, which didn't look dryed, raising the concern it may have never been changed. Also, the breakfast area is very tiny, having a limited selection of food avaliable to guests. Upon discovery of all these problems in the first couple hours, I asked the hotel for a refund, as I wanted to change hotels to a more sanitary location, they had enough nerve to argue with my, telling me my room was non-refundable, even with all the issues. Finally after filing a complaint on Expedia, they decided to only charge me for one night in the room (even tho I had only been there a couple hours at this point) and refunded the 4 other nights. Overall, I wouldn't stay in this filthy hotel, there are plenty of other decent hotels through Paris that are clean and accommodating for the same price. read more

3.5 stars. A reasonably priced boutique hotel conveniently located near to the Republique metro station. My husband and I stayed here on our recent city break in France. We found the hotel through a UK based travel agent and chose it as it was reasonably priced and conveniently located near to the metro. We arrived before check in time but were able to access our room straight away. I have to say the room was extremely small, one of the smallest I have ever stayed in! Despite this, the room was modern and well designed, with plenty of wardrobe space, a flat screen TV and chic bathroom. The bed was also super comfy. Unfortunately there were a couple of downsides-our minibar fridge wasn't working and despite telling reception, this wasn't fixed during our stay. Also our shower leaked everywhere, as it didn't have a proper door. The toilet was located on the opposite side of the room to the shower and sink, which I though was a bit odd. I loved the continental buffet- style breakfast. Each morning we went downstairs and enjoyed croissants, fresh baguette, a small selection of cold meats and cheeses, Nutella, yoghurts, fruit, along with free use of the Nespresso machine. I feel like a lack of friendliness from the staff during the breakfast service lets this hotel down. The breakfast runs from 7 until 11, however everyday we arrived at 10:20 and no tables were set. For some reason the staff were quite slow and reluctant to set a table up for us.. as if we we had arrived too late and breakfast was over. They came across a bit cold and made me feel somewhat awkward. Additionally when food and drink items ran out they were not replenished as efficiently as they should be. Overall this is a lovely little hotel and offers good value for money. However I felt like there were a few things here and there that meant it wasn't quite up to scratch. read more

Terrible hotel, tried to place us next to the toilet on the first floor in a handicap room. Standard handicap room looks like a jail, can't open the door all the way. Staff very rude, and unknowledgeable. Can't do anything without the manager. We got moved to the other handicap room next to the kitchen and dining area. If we open the door everyone can see in our room. We hear every conversation, every step, and drink poured, and even toilet flushing, shower taking, and a hello welcome for new guest that come in. Ants in our room and we were told did we leave anything out. The only thing out was the mini bar on a fold out desk and we don't even have a refrigerator. This is worse than a hostel. Tried too early the first day and was told we couldn't get our money back. If so I would've left and went right back to the Best Western. read more

This is the second time I have chosen Hotel Gabriel for my stay in Paris, and the only thing that I am disappointed about is having to pay more this time. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable and the area is ideal if you want easy access to all of the touristy stuff, but want the option to explore with one of the most convenient metro stops up the street (République). While the rooms are not that large, they are better than what you find elsewhere in Europe or in this part of Paris (comparing quality and pricing). I have had the food options that they offer, including room service and while they have a good selection, as with any hotel it is overpriced. There are so many great options for food that doesn't cost a fortune nearby- I recommend outsourcing, since you are in Paris after all. Overall- Pros: location, price, staff, value, quality Cons: expensive in-house food, not the largest rooms for the money, and now that the hotel is a few years old it is showing signs of wear- our sink leaks this time, and the cradle for the handheld in the shower is about to break. That's why they get four stars and not five this time. read more

C'est manifique! L'Hôtel Gabriel is without a doubt my favorite hotel in the world! We had the pleasure of staying at L'Hôtel Gabriel the first week in June. The hotel is gorgeous, and so charming! We were greeted with a warm, friendly smile, and made to feel welcome every moment we were there. The staff is exceptional! So helpful, attentive, and always willing to offer suggestions for restaurants and places to visit! The rooms are beautiful and the beds are very comfortable. The breakfast is lovely and a great way to start every morning. Lots of things, big and small, add up to the best imaginable hotel stay. An exceptional stay from start to finish! We will definitely be back!! We arrived as boyfriend and girlfriend, and left as fiancés. Perhaps we will return for our honeymoon! read more

I enjoyed our stay at this small boutique hotel. It has a friendly and helpful staff in addition to a convenient locale if you want to be close the Le Marais. What most impressed me was the quality of their bed in this hotel; it was the most comfortable bed I have slept in while travelling in Europe! The room size is not a closet and decent. This place was so charming. Stayed here with my other half during our stay in Paris. Cute small hotel which made it friendly and cozy. Had a wonderful balcony and lots of light in room. The downside of it however was the shower head.... How are you suppose to shower? In a bathtub that has a shower piece that is not attached- quite annoying. The room was well done but could have been a little better in terms of cleanness. Mornings were great, went downstairs for some breakfast and brought it back to the room for my loved one. Stayed in a standard room, their smallest. The room is so small I am shocked it passes building inspection. It really should be called a walk-in closet . The staff is disgruntled and would be fired if this wasn't France. Taking a shower is a challenge without flooding the bathroom, is a $1 shower curtain from ikea too expensive? Their saving grace is their location, 6 metro lines just outside of the super trendy Marais. Overpriced, would not recommend. read more

Stayed here for a week while visiting Paris with my wife. The staff was excellent, very friendly and polite from the moment we arrived offering to help us with booking tourist attractions and dinner reservations, maps of the city and metro, advice on how to get around or where to go. They also provide plug adaptors for anyone who may have forgotten. They also spoke fluent English which was a great help as my French is intermediate at best. I found the location to be very nice and easy to find just off of metro stations oberkampf or republic and very easy to get to from the airport CDG taking the RER. It is situated between the 10th and 11th arr on a quiet street you are close to lots of good restaurants, bakeries, bars and pastry shops that you'll never go hungry. Also there are many tiny grocery and convenience stores only a stones throw away if you want to save some money and eat in. The hotel is out of the main tourist area so it's considerably safer at night with barely any homeless or shady characters and lots of locals enjoying the bars and restaurants in the evenings. It is a nice area to walk and see the city away from the main attractions but also close enough to walk in and see a few. Walking distance to Bastille, Notre Dame and Louvre but you likely want to metro to Eiffel, Arc d'triomphe, Sacre Coure areas. The restaurant has a breakfast buffet available with free option to have them bring it up as room service if you order the night before. The breakfast is very nice classic Parisian with croissants, jams, fresh cheese, eggs and cereals. I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast everyday. The design is very nice, everything was clean and for the price I think it is a very good value. Only knocks against this location are the room sizes but if you are in Paris you'll likely barely be in your room except to rest. The elevator is also extremely small could barely fit myself and two luggages in but it is very small hotel. Definitely a solid place to book if staying in Paris and looking to avoid the main tourist areas. read more

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful here. The breakfast downstairs was decent and can be delivered to your room with no extra charge. I can't get over how great this hotel has been. We've been here for five days (this is our last night) and our overall experience has been perfect. The metro is a short walk away and you're surrounded by great food. The staff is lovely, they were kind enough to let us check in early since we arrived much earlier than expected, they made an appointment at the Edith Piaf museum for us and even booked our taxi to go to the airport. The breakfast bar has so many options and the women who attend it are so fast, they are constantly making sure everything is filled and as soon as someone finishes they are cleaning and setting the tables again for someone else. It was also so nice to come back from a long day of exploring to a room that looks like the first day we arrived. I was also surprised by the size of the room, I expected something much smaller.
