Hotels in this world, I think, are split up into 2 main categories depending on the place you're visiting, the occasion, the amount of money you have, etc. If for example, you're staying either somewhere far far from home and in an unknown city, it's an anniversary trip away, or if you're loaded, you tend to want a really nice, luxurious hotel where you can relax, unwind with all the creature comforts, etc.
This 2-star hotel, 10 minutes walk from the main centre of Cannes fits into the second category: you know you're in a lovely, chilled-out and safe place that's great to have a wander round in and you just want somewhere basic to sleep. Run by a lovely female proprietor and her enthusiastic dog, this place is just what's needed in Cannes, central, quiet, good continental breakfasts (with the strongest coffee ever), a car park at the back and relatively cheap - for 2 people, it cost me about 300Euros for about 5 nights.
The rooms are basic, but what you'd expect, TV, wardrobes (that have probably been in the family for the last 400 years!), a sitting room with computer downstairs, terrace for all those sunny days, etc.
If you want saunas, gyms, michelin-starred meals, don't come here, but if you want a nice, clean, friendly and cheap place to stay while in town, I'd definitely recommend it. By the way, at certain times of year, e.g. for the MIPE or Cannes Film Festival, everywhere in Cannes gets insanely busy and booked up - I'd recommend booking ahead to be sure, but if it's not one of these times, you should be fine.
P.s. If you go, give the dog a piece of croissant at breakfast and you'll have a friend for life ;) read more
