We're
A couple of married seniors from NY on our dream vacation. London and Paris. I leave many reviews and can sometimes be pretty critical.
Hotel Aiglon is just as advertised: an old building with refurbished rooms. If you are planning to spend a lot of time in your room, stay somewhere else. If you are planning on exploring the city and using your hotel mainly as a place to sleep, this is a great choice.
A two minute walk from the Metro, which means it's a 20 minute ride to everywhere. Very small but clean and comfortable rooms. A tiny, slow elevator that does its job.
Located in an area with hundreds of different types of restaurants, including very nice French ones, and a few delicious French bakeries as well.
The young woman who checked us in could have been nicer to us but I won't dwell on that. I guess everyone has a bad day. (The ONLY information we needed from her, she did not offer: how to get the lights in the room to turn on).
The coffee maker in the room wasn't working so we notified the front desk. My wife told the gentleman she had unplugged it and tried it in another outlet, to no avail.
When we returned to the hotel he informed my wife that it was working; he said the problem was: it was unplugged. Even though my wife had TOLD him she had...doesn't matter. Men are often condescending towards women. That's the way of the world...(incidentally, they left it unplugged. Didn't even check if it was working!).
Upwards of a $100 to Uber to the airport; be brave. Take the Metro and the railroad. Two trains. It's actually faster, and only about $11.
Anyway, don't concern yourself with any of the one star reviews: the Hotel Aiglon is clean, safe, in a vibrant neighborhood, and centrally located.
And highly recommended. read more
