Now that I have returned from my trip, I can write a much fuller review of my experience at the Adagio City Aparthotel.
Wi-fi was a bit finnicky at times, but for the most part, worked... However, it is not as fast a connection (my dad has this app that checks the internet connection speed which confirmed this). Yes, we are nerds.
The neighbourhood in which this hotel is located in is not the safest, especially if you stick out like a sore thumb (e.g. easily recognizable tourist = target for pickpocketing). It is a rather ethnic neighbourhood with many Lebanese and Middle Eastern immigrants inhabiting the area. With that said, there are many French locals who dine, work, and frequent the area.
We arrived in our hotel room to find the bathroom light to be flickering in full horror-movie style. I called down to inform them, it was left for 2 days (during which I had to call down and remind them again) before it was fixed. Housekeeping (if you pay for the service) seems to happen at random times in the day. My beef is that they had showed up for housekeeping while we were in the apartment. She had changed our towels and said she would be back to finish the remainder of the cleaning. When we returned home, we found our room the way we left it. When I called down to reception, they had it recorded that the full cleaning was done. I informed them it wasn't, and the next day, it was done.
Because this specific Adagio City Aparthotel is smaller, they do not have in-house dining facilities as the others do. However, they do offer breakfast room-service style, provided you give them notice the night before, and prior to 10PM. But with the selection and conveniences of the bakeries etcetera, it is probably better to just take a stroll and buy something from outside than to pay for their in-room breakfasts.
The thin walls meant that I heard an hour-long Skype conversation loud and clear that my neighbour was having. In addition, there was a guitar-playing neighbour who serenaded us daily early afternoon.
I do love that there is a fully-equipped kitchen as it allowed us to have some gourmet meals when we decided we were simply too exhausted to venture out to a restaurant. This also allowed us to save quite a bit by popping over to the Carrefour (literally a 2 minute walk from the hotel) to pick up groceries and cook it. The fridge helped keep our water cold for the next day's adventures.
We requested a higher floor, which was a blessing as the night life outside can be heard even though we were already on the second highest floor.
Security at this actual hotel is not an issue. A code is required to enter the hotel after 9PM. Reception is open 24/7. Wi-fi is included and a password will be provided upon check-in.
All in all, the stay was pleasant. However, I would want to stay in a location closer to all the tourist attractions. With that said, it is quite convenient to just hop on the metro to get where you need to go. I would recommend the Adagio for those who are looking to save some money and don't mind commuting. read more
