In late December 2025, I went to DVN Hyundai to get a new car. During the initial sales meeting…read morewith my sales advisor, Hanan Laccheb, everything was pretty normal, and we closed the deal. So far so good. My wife and I asked her whether the tires from my previous car would fit the Hyundai. She said yes. We wanted to make sure that it's a firm yes, and not a "I'll say anything to close the sale, even if it's not true." So she called one of her colleagues from the service department, to make sure, and he confirmed that the tires will indeed fit. Perfect. A few days later, she calls and says that the tires will fit, but the rims won't. A bit deceptive, but I can give her the benefit of the doubt. She then dropped a giant pile of work for me: 1. Go to my previous dealer to get my all-season tires. 2. Take those tires to Canadian Tire to get new rims 3. Take the all-season tires back to my previous dealer for storage, since I couldn't drive on them, as it was still winter. 4. In the spring, drive back to my previous dealer, to pick up the all-season tires. 5. Bring those all-season tires to Hyundai for replacement. I wasn't exactly amused to have this giant project, driving all over the city, and spending additional money that I wasn't planning on. A few days later, she messages me again, now saying that the tires won't fit, either - after telling me repeatedly that they will, and even checking with the service department. And I have it all in text. I reached out to the service manager to get this rectified, and he "kindly" told me that he'd get me additional winter tires and rims that fit for $825. But that would be added to my lease. So the original deal that I got with Hanan was a lot less sweet after that addition. Was it pure incompetence on Hanan's part, or deliberate deception? I don't know, but neither one is good. After this experience, I'm not opposed to getting another Hyundai in the future, but I will never work with Hanan Laccheb as my salesperson again. UPDATE: After I originally posted this review, I got a response from DVN Hyundai, basically apologizing, and giving me an email to reach out to, to make things right. So I wondered - did they really mean it, or was it just a corporate PR strategy of "we'll respond to our negative reviews, so that other people looking at them can see. But we don't plan to actually follow through on anything. It's just optics." To test it, I actually emailed them. No response. I emailed them a second time, and got a response. It turns out that the company responding to these isn't DVN Hyundai, but Weins. They told me to email DVN Hyundai. I did. I didn't hear back. I followed up a week later, and still didn't hear back. So the conclusion is pretty clear: any response to negative reviews is really just a corporate PR strategy, without any substance behind it. I was already displeased with DVN Hyundai to begin with, and gave it a 1-star review. With this new experience, if I could give a minus 5-star review, I would.

Disappointing and costly experience at Markham Honda - buyers be cautious…read more I purchased a used 2019 Honda Civic Si from Markham Honda in March 2023. As a first-time car buyer, I chose this dealership because it was a certified Honda store, expecting professionalism and transparency. Unfortunately, my experience was anything but that. The finance manager I dealt with, Fiona Liu, seemed helpful and efficient during the process, but later I discovered two major issues: 1. I gave her $4,000 in cash as a down payment -- a decision I regret. It was never reflected in my financing, and no receipt was issued. 2. Without my knowledge, several costly protection packages were added to my loan. These included tire and rim coverage, rust proofing, and cosmetic damage protection -- totaling over $4,000. None of these were explained or offered to me explicitly. These hidden add-ons were only uncovered more than a year later when I reviewed my loan breakdown. When I returned to the dealership, I spoke to a senior sales manager, Wilson Chan, who admitted the finance manager had since been let go, and I was not the only customer affected. He said, "I believe what you're saying - and that's why she's no longer here." But the dealership declined any compensation, saying there was no documentation to act on. I'm sharing this not out of anger, but in hopes that it protects future buyers from blindly trusting the process, even at large brand-name dealers. Ask questions, request documentation, and take your time reading every page. Markham Honda has yet to take full responsibility for what happened under their roof. Dismissing it as a "former employee issue" is not enough when customers are left to deal with the consequences.

I bought a 2009 Nissan Sentra SE-R from this dealership in January 2014. It had low mileage and was…read morea reasonable price. I decided to test drive it and i heard some noise in the rear of the vehicle like as if something towards the rear of the car was loose. At that time, i did not have much experience buying a vehicle so i brought up the noise to the salesperson with me in the car and he said he didn't hear anything. After the test drive, i proceeded to check the trunk area and everything seemed fine to me. So i went inside and i asked to see the carproof and it came out clean - the sales manager and the sales person both assured me that the car was accident free. I was suspicious as to why it was being sold as a used vehicle and not a certified pre-owned vehicle since it seemed to be in great condition - but i decided that i was probably overthinking things. Fast forward 20 months and the noise in the trunk has gone from mild, to bad to worse. I have had this car checked with 2 body shops since and they both confirmed that this car definitely had been in an accident and was not properly fixed. There is also obvious uneven gap on either side of the trunk which i did not notice since i was only able to visit the dealership in the evenings and frankly was not very savvy at buying cars at the time. To sum things up - I am absolutely convinced the dealership knew that this was not an accident free vehicle, i was able to tell within 6 months and i was untrained. Not all accidents show up on the Carproof as not all of them are reported and go through insurance. Make sure you thoroughly check ANY used vehicle you purchase from this dealership. If you don't have experience with cars, bring someone who does and take it to a mechanic before you buy. and ABSOLUTELY check the car in the day light as its easier to notice inconsistencies. Do NOT depend on the Carproof. I never went back to this dealership to talk to them about this issue because i knew they would plead ignorance and tell me they had no reason to suspect the Carproof. Be smart, learn from my mistake.
