It was one of only a few tasting menus I've tried. We weren't given a list of what to expect so each dish was a fun surprise. I will say, if you choose the tasting menu, come hungry! There is quite a bit of food and it definitely got harder to finish as the meal went on. You have the option to do a drink pairing with it as well. My friend did the mocktail pairing and she let me try some of her drinks. They were great! I found both of the cocktails I had weren't super balanced but I'm happy I tried them! One was super strong whereas the other tasted mostly of cilantro in a glass (bit was stunning!) I'll include photos of the food because it was excellent! After each dish we kept saying it was our favorite But if I had to pick three it would be the Fattouch Salad (so good!), the rack of lamb (incredibly tender), and the stat of the show and dessert of my dreams - the pistachio Ashra ice cream with Syrian Cotton Candy. Oh my goodness!! The service was a bit impersonal however we always had what we needed and they were very attentive and friendly albeit a tad rushed. The ambiance was lovely! Such a vibe in there! Highly recommend to anyone wanting a special and very delicious night out!

The Short Version: Popular shawarma place on Sainte…read moreCatherine Street. The beef shawarma was pretty good. The Long Version: My husband and I were chilling in our hotel when my husband had a hankering for some shawarma. He didn't want to go too far, and I encouraged him to try a new-to-us place, lol. So a quick search led him to Shawarmaz. Shawarmaz is a Canadian company that started 2013 in Montreal. It has several locations but they are all in the Greater Montreal Area. My husband got the beef shawarma in a pita $9.79. They have the option of getting your shawarma in Saj bread or a baguette and those options are more expensive. He got lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, turnips and onions. For his sauces he got hummus, spicy garlic and chipotle. He enjoyed the shawarma. I had a bite so I could review it (I also went with him so I could see the restaurant and take pictures) haha. I thought it was pretty good. They give you a decent amount of protein. And the beef was flavourful and not gristly. I was surprised that the wrap was not too spicy considering the sauces he chose. The decor is fast food restaurant-like. Service was good but it did take a while for the food, although it's likely because there was a pretty long line up. Review #205 (2025)

The service at first was a bit slow, but that was understandable given how busy the restaurant was. Our server, Yan, was incredibly personable. He had excellent suggestions for dinner. We each started with cocktails, and enjoyed the ambiance. There was a live band, but we were in a different room. It wasn't loud like you would expect. 5/5 service. Beef Tartare: 5/5. This was an excellent start. The appetizer sizing was a little small for two people. If you want a little more, I'd recommend the entree size. It comes with fries. But it was delicious. The crostini's that came with it were a little overpowering, but the tartare itself was delicious. Duck Confit: 5/5. This duck was INCREDIBLE. Perfectly cooked, crispy skin, tender and juicy flavor. An incredible sauce. Delicious veggies and potatoes. The only thing I did not like about this dish was how quickly we ate it! Dessert (not pictured): 5/5. We had a chocolate pyramid with hazelnuts and chocolate mousse. Delicious. Be sure to put Modavie on your Montreal dining list!

Super romantic but really loud so it would be hard to hear your date. I only came in for wine and cheese to escape the rain after a big supper, but was pleasantly surprised to happen upon a live jazz duo playing at dinner. Reservations are highly recommended but I walked in solo and got one of the few seats left at the bar. The server was incredible, friendly and very attentive to everyone at the bar. While all of the food coming out looked amazing, I give 3 stars for the lack of presentation/selection of the cheese platter (which I forgot to take a picture of). The menu said selection of 4 cheeses. What I got was 4 pieces of only two types of cheese cut by a four year old. I was expecting four different cheeses, not two pieces of two types. It definitely didn't look like everyone else's plates coming out. For how beautiful all of the other plates came out, $30 for this was a definite rip off. I'm glad I opted for a bit of a cheaper glass of wine because anything more expensive would have really ruined the experience. Skip the cheese platter and get yourself a different appetizer if you don't want to be disappointed.
